This is my second most recent progress update of the first artpiece shown in this postt (second most bc the most recent I actually haven’t saved and sent to my phone yet)
The guy in the middle bottom will be (to me, maybe not to you) drastically changed soon, but idc about that rn, I just want to share my progress because I’m really proud of this piece so far!
Characters so far are:
Tera (me) who is in the middle bottom with the glowing heart, currently pictured as a human-moth (lunar moth in specific) but that will be relatively changed soon and I’ll probably make a human variant for my school project (the version with “Identity”, which is the depicted version, the ‘true’ non-school version has a different word) that looks less like how I depict myself and more like how I am in real life
Zurua (name says it all, my in character self… if that works for describing it lol) who is to the left (your right when you look at the drawing) of Tera. I have a few more bits and babs that I might add to him, but for now he is complete outside of his clothes/torso not going to the end of the frame
Marsh (that’s a nickname, lol, I find that holding his real name hostage is funny) who is right next to Zurua, his print was a pain in the ass to draw… but his bow is cute :33
Plasma (the Lucario) who is in the bottom left corner, nothing much other than him being a shiny Lucario I actually own that I hunted for and caught as a Riolu! I plan on giving him his body, don’t worry, it’s just that I’ve been to lazy to work on it and line it up with his head correctly lolol
Zoru (the Zorua, creative, I know) who is even more in the bottom left corner. I actually have yet to get a shiny Zorua in the depicted form, but I got a shiny hisuian Zorua in my original pla save, and I just wanted to change him to be this form of Zorua (I was very attached to Zorua when I was younger, because I watched the black and white anime and had one of the two movies for that gen, so I’m attached to that gen as a whole but yk)
Loop (with the third wip shown in the post I’m reblogging you’d think I would’ve done Siffrin, but nope! I relate to some of Loop’s issues haha) who is in the top left. Nothing much, they’re done and while idk how I 100% feel about how he turned out I’m not about to change anything bc I’m still at least a bit happy with how it turned out
Ruffles (or the rivulet) who’s in top middle leaping under the letters! Not gonna change a single thing! I like how my design for him turned out, and I most importantly adore how the drawing came out! I spent forever on the slug-axolotl bit to make sure it looked right… so happy I did tho
Bubble (splatoon has had a chokehold on me since I was a little kid with my Wii U) who is about to be the target of an attack from Ruffles. Octo expansion definitely helped me a lot as an early teen, so I drew my agent 8 OC first in the colours I finished with/are dominant for the weapon I first finished side order with. I love how she came out haha… it does look a little weird without Wave (my agent/captian 3 OC) there for her to be givin a little kiss to, but I think it still looks good on its own!
Anyway I’m gonna get back to doin the do… aka I have art this morning and it’s the perfect time to work on this piece hahaha… this drawing has a chokehold on me I’VE BEEN WORKING ON IT SINCE JANUARY 3RD OR SMTH

Decided to dump this, two are WIP but whatever

Also, yes, the second one uses part of the first one as a sketch base, so what?
Oh, and if you recognise the guy in the third I love you

Something I really liked about playing this game was that as I was playing I actually began to understand the abstract way that Ena speaks.

At first, what she says sounds like total word salad and like she's just combining random phrases together. But the more I played, the more coherent they became in a weird way? I think an example of what I mean is when she runs into Taski Maiden and Taski literally has that creepy ass jumpscare.

Ena says "Miss could you keep it down please? The pizza delivery guy is right here." At first that absolutely makes no sense at all, but after I thought about it Ena is clearly saying "Please stop scaring/startling me like that...I'm just a worker."
I think the way Enaspeak works (which is the weird way Ena's talk that I personally have just named bc idk what Joel G would call it T_T) is that it doesn't actually matter if what you say has nothing to do with the main subject at hand, as long as it belies the same emotions or feelings you hold then it's correct.
The first sentence "Miss, could you keep it down please?" is in the same bracket as asking someone to simply stop doing something, even though it might be obvious that Ena wants Taskii to either stop scaring her like that or to stop joking like that or to stop being so rude to her etc, the first sentence isn't a direct response to what Taskii said to her at all or relates to the situation.
The second sentence relates to Ena herself. "The Pizza Delivery Guy is right here." A delivery person is "just a worker" in the same vein that Ena is just a worker. The sentence carries the same kind of casualness as "I am just a worker" which is probably what Ena wants to convey. That there's no need for...jumpscares or rudeness towards her because she's just a worker, and isn't dangerous at all.
Another aspect of Enaspeak is how "random" it is. Basically, the more offtopic the Enaspeak is, the more emotion Ena is trying to convey with what she's saying. When Ena wants to be direct in Dream BBQ she does speak pretty plainly. However, when she's confused or scared her speech is "coherent" but the meaning and relation to whats happening is completely lost.
Or Joel G could just be writing whatever he thinks is funniest for Ena to say and I am a madwoman reading far too deep into it lol T_T Anyways these are my random thoughts about the funky way Ena talks.

So i've been thinking a lot about Sir Frank. He's this guy in the lost village area.
My first few playthroughs, I never really thought much of him? I mean, he was there, allegedly due to being a sinner or outcast, and unlike most other characters he didn't seem to mind ENA's presence. But then on one occasion when I went to do the "raze the roofs" achievement(making every hut vanish except for the correct one), I went to talk to him and found that his dialogue had changed. (contd)
Now, there are a few details i want to point out about this- first, his delivery of these lines is incredibly sincere, I'd go as far as to say even fond. He is literally the only character- aside from maybe Froggy- who ever speaks to ENA this way. Second, he "pronounces" ENA's name correctly. As in, spelling it with the backwards E. Only two other characters do this(to my knowledge), the suspicious man and Theodora. The suspicious man does it, obviously, because he has researched ENA and knows a lot about her. Theodora does it because she is a Genie, and thus probably all-knowing. Frank, however, pronounces it correctly out of respect. He addresses ENA like his equal, and I'm pretty sure he's the only character that does this. Every other character that isn't directly hostile or dismissive towards ENA is at the very least a little backhanded. Even Nonkey Jong of all people says some shit like "Nonkey Jong likes having company, even from ENA" which implies that ENA is like. The bare minimum lmao. Froggy might be an exception to this? But there's a degree of "you're my cool coworker and all but you're also weird and i don't understand you completely" to his interactions. A curious thing I also noticed about Frank's cutscenes is that he's one of the only fully voiced characters that ENA doesn't vocally respond to. I have a couple theories as to why this is- provided it's intentional. which it might not be. but I'm still thinking about it lol When interacting with Theodora after reaching the bathroom, there is an option when she asks for ENA's aspirations to "aspire for Frank's forgiveness". This could be taken one of two ways- either ENA has done something to Frank that she wishes to be forgiven for, or Frank has done something bad that ENA wants to forgive on his behalf. Either way, whatever it is, Theodora doesn't entertain it ENA's silence during Frank's dialogue could simply be that she's shell-shocked at not being treated weirdly. Or it could be that she feels guilty. I've seen a theory floating around that she may have been the one that blinded him?? I wonder if they knew each other before meeting in the lost village? Man idk. I just think it's interesting that he is so friendly. It caught me totally off guard ngl, discovering this about him elevated him to an S tier character for me lmfao
