This is so amazing. I am trying to find a way to use it in my class.

Post-It Planning Part Ptwo
I’m almost there. This is what I was missing last semester though.

I prefer a drink at journal club and an amble through the woods, but to each their own. My favorite part is when one bird dives in front of the other. It’s hilarious. Birds are so weird.

Multi-syllabic words: the language of the resistance.
Even the Merrium-Webster Dictionary is trolling Trump! I don’t think this is the first time, but I was looking up the word “pelage” when this was one of their links at the top of the page. I’m pretty sure it’s not the first time M-W has done this. I seem to remember seeing “Dotard” being highlighted in the recent past. It’s hilarious and sad....very sad.

The correction at the bottom of this article is priceless. This is in the science section of Time magazine! Ha!! If only everyone could have the Pacific Science Center come to their second-grade class we wouldn’t run into these kinds of issues. “My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Nachos” (Nachos used to be “Nine Pizzas”. RIP Pluto.

One of my favorite things about the south so far; people call the things you push around in the grocery store “Buggies”.  This isn’t addressed in this article, but it’s fun. Also, the last one caused me a great deal of confusion in college near Boston when people kept telling me I was spelling my name wrong.

Black Boxes...I watched a video about a different kind of black box last week where all these amazing people read their writing in NYC. I couldn’t help but think about the state of mind of some of these writers. What must be going on in their lives? How did they get here? I wonder if they’ve been been travelling the world and having amazing, magical, distant adventures? The next day I got into the car and a RadioLab was on the radio all about Black Boxes. Puzzling.

Evergreen Meets UGA
Today I met a student taking a class called Alive/Dead. Immediately my mind started running. That’s so Evergreen! That’s so WOWO. How great a class this must be! They must explore what it means to be alive...it probably has a biologist (maybe a virologist) and a philosopher. It must go over the history of how we determined what was living and what wasn’t, how those perceptions shaped the way we interacted with nature. How fun would that be to teach! What cool things you could find for them to read!
How progressive of UGA!
While it is still pretty awesome, that is not what Alive/Dead is about. It is an agriculture class where on Monday they meet the live animal...this week it is a “hog”...and on Wednesday they meet that same animal as... well...meat.
I still admire their truth in advertising though. I hope Evergreen is as wonderful as ever. I miss it.

It starts really strong. Some of them are SO great though. Can you guess what a “bird leaf” is?

Neon, Boron and Yttrium are among the best so far. Potassium needs a better poem. I’ll give it a try.

The twang is a little slower, but I couldn’t find anything else even close.

I was convinced this sound was a katydid, so it took an hour and a half before I worked my way through this website to the cicadas, but I’m pretty sure this is what I’ve been hearing in the tree next to the porch!
