Finally got around to see season 2 and although my heart broke at the ineffable divorce, INEFFABLE BUREAUCRACY IS NOW CANON and I need to fan myself.

As a side note, I have mixed feelings about the face change. On one hand, Shelley Conn does a smashing job playing Beelzebub, but… it’s the attitude for me. I loved the dry, no nonsense, absolutely-DONE-with-everything-in-sight-and-you-in-particular attitude of season 1 Beelzebub. That’s the Beelzebub I’d like to have fallen in love with Gabriel.

Season 2 Beelzebub has their own charm of course. The smirky trickster type is hard to pass up.

I’ll change the face on this blog, but I’ll keep the season 1 attitude.

Except with Gabriel. Because for Gabriel, Beelzebub can be soft.

how do you feel about the last news about beelzebub? i trust neil and i'm sure he'll pull it off, but i'm still sad about it :(

Hey there! Sorry, I didn't see this ask until now - my tumblr notifications are so random, sometimes I do not get any at all.

If you refer to the recast, I don't mind those kinds of spoilers. :)

A recast is always disappointing at first, because you've built a connection to that particular version of the character. I adored Anna Maxwell Martin as Beelzebub, and her take on them is forever iconic to me. However, I'm very excited to see what Shelley Conn will bring to the character and the dynamics with the rest of the cast. And as you said, Neil knows what he's doing.

How unexpectedly delightful it was to watch the child stumble back, the little witch and his familiar. Beelzebub’s chuckle was low and sinister. Crowley was right; interacting with mortals was entertaining. Still, they could not afford to get distracted from their work, and suddenly their smile was gone as if it never were.

Time to leave.

Only then did they notice the changing mood of the crowd. Whispering turning into angry calls as the people worked themselves up to a frenzy, adding up black snake and black cat without much finesse.

“Magic!”

“Witchcraft!”

“Take the boy! He’s one of them!”

Their lip curled in annoyance. How easy it would be to start a plague right here, something that would spread through the city, something with festering boils to match their ignorance. The boy was looking for a way out, but on cue guards were closing in, drawn by the yelling...

They gave an impatient huff. This was not what they had intended. One more dark miracle. With a snap of their fingers the people fell as one, not dead but fast asleep, snoring gently on the cobblestones -

Leaving the fortunate pair awake and standing.

“Leave, child.” They straightened their robe, sparing them a glance before starting to turn around. “And live, if you’re clever enough.”
