kory! :) this might be my last samnee redraw for a bit? i have an umineko animatic in the works i'd like to finish before october (umifullers Know) but i will likely still do these redraws as warmups. i'll just post em in a batch after that animatic is done

version w black lines + sketch. used a new brush w this one and tried to not be so perfectionist with the colours and staying inside the lines... i think it turned out ok! it was so fun to colour kory's hair actually (i normally have no fun w colouring at all lmao), i used a lot of different colours to try and make her hair glow a bit. felt very freeing lol. this was definitely much quicker than the previous two redraws but idk if i wanna keep colouring with this brush. like the process was fun but i don't like the result aaas much. but maybe i'll keep at it! we'll see.

another samnee redraw! happy late b-day Jason enjoy getting beat up by your girlfriend ☺️

pre-effects and sketch once again. this was so rough to colour 😭 i think i should've maybe planned colours out more?? i tried so many different things and spent waaaay longer than i wanted to on this as a result. also i feel like Jason does not feel anywhere near as dynamic/kinetic as in the original sketch; i made a lot of changes with his design (his original UTH design will aaaalways be my fav) so that probably contributed to it?? also drawing more than just both their torsos really fucked with the composition, i now see why samnee cropped it the way he did lol. for dick's design i referenced her nw suit from when rick leonardi was on nightwing '96. those chunky boots and gloves are soooo fun and i'm sad she's never drawn w that design. like look:

been doing some chris samnee redraws lately to practice lineart and also just... relearn drawing. because it felt very bad for a bit there! i really liked how this one turned out. kara's hair in the original sketch is so bouncy and fun, i just adore how samnee uses shadows there to create those shapes. also used the syrup pen in procreate for the first time with this and it's surprisingly fun!

here are the no effects version + sketch. as you can see noise + bloom effects are my new best friends lol. also woooow is the derwent brush awesome. i have never given it a proper shake til now which is really a shame for how satisfying it is to use. i went really simple and undetailed with the colours since this was mainly a lines study i decided to add colour to last minute; once i feel more confident with lines i plan to study jordie bellaire's work for colours. specifically assorted crisis events and birds of prey because. WOW. she's so fucking good on those books. i also just learned she does colours on absolute wonder woman too??? all three of those comics have such radically different colouring styles i was so shocked to find out she's on all of them! it'll be fun to look at her work in more detail... esp ACE the limited palettes there are goooorgeous.

had the horrible realisation today that by deleting ibis a few months ago I accidentally deleted a lot of cool abandoned projects I had on there... but I was able to find these guys in my camera roll! they're meant to be enamel pin designs, not to actually manufacture or anything, just because i wanted to try it out.
