You guys know I live for local love these days and I (Richard Bower) finally had the opportunity to get to a location I’ve been dying to hit... My Mama's Kitchen located just off of shore drive near little creek has been on my list of spots to hit around Norfolk for some time now. Tonight I had the pleasure of trying three flavors of wings. I ordered some collards for my wife and a couple Down Home Dogs for my brother. The flavors I chose for my wings were honey bbq (for the wife but I had one), lemon pepper, and buffalo soldier. While the honey bbq was deliciously sweet and a little smokey, and the lemon pepper was perfect salty, lemony, crispy, peppered wings the champion for me was the Buffalo Soldier flavor. This is a cross between Jerk and Buffalo flavor, it’s sweet and subtle with the flavors of the Caribbean then out of nowhere comes the heat! Not an overwhelming heat but it makes sure you know it’s present. I’ve never been more satisfied with a sauce decision in my life! And don’t get me started on the all fruit (no ice) smoothie! Large 20 oz. for $2.99!!!! Awesome on every level.
