Ik luister iedere vrijdag naar meerdere playlists vol nieuwe releases; een taakje dat, naast heel leuk, heel overweldigend kan zijn, en lang niet altijd nieuwe favorieten oplevert. Maar voor één ontdekking dank ik de 3voor12-redactie op mijn knieën: Chloe Qisha. Voor mij dé bevestiging dat muziekjournalistiek nog wel degelijk een functie heeft in deze moderne wereld, want naast 3voor12 is ze ook Rolling Stone UK opgevallen: die benoemde haar zelfs tot “the future of music”.

Not to go "if you have ADHD just go for a run" or anything, but I am so serious if you have ADHD you should regularly go outside, no headphones no phone no nothing and just stand and observe for a while until you've had enough. Not until you get bored, until you've had enough. Drink your coffee without watching tiktok. Have a bath without music. Turn down the volume in your headphones. I cannot overstate how much learning to be bored is cruicial with ADHD. Life is not just about pleasure, no matter what your dysregulated dopamine system thinks, and when you teach your brain to be okay with being bored, then boring tasks stop feeling like torture. By letting yourself be bored you are yoinking your system out of the high/low binary and allow for the highs to feel like actual highs and not just anything that isn't low. I am so serious go literally touch grass. Listen to the sounds in your flat. Stimulate your body the way it was designed. It lowers anxiety and makes you feel like you're real and best of all it's completely free

SERVICE DOG PSA

So today I tripped. Fell flat on my face, it was awful but ultimately harmless. My service dog, however, is trained to go get an adult if I have a seizure, and he assumed this was a seizure (were training him to do more to care for me, but we didn’t learn I had epilepsy until a year after we got him)

I went after him after I had dusten off my jeans and my ego, and I found him trying to get the attention of a very annoyed woman. She was swatting him away and telling him to go away. So I feel like I need to make this heads up

If a service dog without a person approaches you, it means the person is down and in need of help

Don’t get scared, don’t get annoyed, follow the dog! If it had been an emergency situation, I could have vomited and choked, I could have hit my head, I could have had so many things happen to me. We’re going to update his training so if the first person doesn’t cooperate, he moves on, but seriously guys. If what’s-his-face could understand that lassie wanted him to go to the well, you can figure out that a dog in a vest proclaiming it a service dog wants you to follow him

Who the f*** is Jordan Fish?

18 januari: een enthousiaste S10 wordt op Noorderslag geïnterviewd door twee 3FM-DJ’s; ze vragen haar hoe het was om te werken met Jordan Fish, haar grote idool. Op 21 maart komt namelijk haar nieuwe album uit, Mijn Haren Ruiken Naar Vuur, dat geheel is geproduceerd door deze Brit. Kort wordt in het interview benoemd dat hij “van Bring Me The Horizon” is, maar daar blijft het ook bij. Dat is geheel terecht, want voor de gemiddelde kijker is S10 zelf veel interessanter, maar voor de nerds onder ons: wie de f*** is Jordan Fish nou eigenlijk, en waarom wilde S10 zo graag met hem samenwerken?

[I]k loop het komende halfjaar stage, maar daarna moet ik écht aan het werk — hoe zorg ik ervoor dat het werk dat ik doe, bijdraagt aan een betere wereld? Ik kan natuurlijk politiek verslaggever worden, of correspondent worden in het buitenland, maar mijn hart ligt eigenlijk bij de cultuurjournalistiek — dat mag niet verbazen; muziek is mijn eerste liefde en literatuur komt daar heel kort achteraan. Maar who the fuck geeft nou iets om cultuurjournalistiek als de wereld in brand staat?

One time I went to the zoo with my bf and I was excited for him to see the capybaras because he'd never seen any in his entire life (!) and he was SHOOK when he found out how big they were. like. he was imagining like a guinea pig-sized rodent and instead there's this BOAR and it was a delight to witness that moment

I think the reason that social media has become as toxic as it is, is because a lot of people view accounts as the person, and not just some journal where the person occasionally jots down an incomplete thought.

Like, not every post is an eternal, declarative manifesto. Some of us are just thinking out loud, Mary.

Just because you have a window into my soul doesn't mean you know the entire floor plan.
