I think BingYuan and MobieHua should be each other's biggest headaches because, on one hand SQH and MBJ always have to micro manage their technical superiors but on the other LBH and SY have to be ready for the Old Man Yaoi couple to go from 0 to 100 at any second, about random things that don't make sense or worse about each other and stop working so now these 20 somethings have to do work that's usually done by ppl atleast twice as old and thrice as experienced as them

There are no scenarios of 79 in witch SY is not a child of divorce. Even if QiJiu are low-key together.

So a lot of Sy transmigrates into svsss as a child aus tend to have him picked up by sj via random cabbage patch baby plot or sy tends to look incredibly similar to sj and reluctantly adopted.

But it's got me thinking of the reverse, where sy is a random yqy cabbage patch child or looks oddly like yqy.

In both cases I think sj loses his gotdam Mind bc first of all qi-ge is His no matter how estranged they are, and secondly someone needs to protect this mini yqy bc he's clearly inherited his recklessness and being too kind and he's going to get walked all over!!

But I think in the case of cabbage patch sy, sj's jealousy supersedes any inherent protectiveness over yqy shaped things. The way he'd overcome this is only by convincing himself that anything owned by yqy is by rights also His, and nothing of his is going to be so blatantly weak.

Versus a child sy who shows up looking suspiciously like yqy and triggers sj's jealousy in other ways bc His Qi-ge went and had a bastard spawn with some woman and won't even own up to it? Once again lying to sj's face. He'd overcome this by seeing another abandoned orphan not even wanted by his own father like himself but without the maternal love that lbh got, therefore making sy more tolerable in his eyes and making him take him under his wing since yqy clearly won't.

Either way, rip sy being a child of divorce, he and sqh can bond over it, even if sy refuses to acknowledge the situation lmao

Absolutely screaming with delight over this, it most definitely certainly CAN be used for system staff Shen Yuan. Shen Yuan just being like "for FUCK'S sake, I cannot be ASSED to deal with this right now" even as he skips along merrily to go poke around and see what the issue is, and then immediately gets embroiled in hijinks and situations that make it extra hard to actually GO. If you love system Shen Yuan then I'm certain you've heard of @k0mmari's System! Shen Yuan AU because I'm personally obsessed with it and it has been rotating around my microwave brain ever since he posted it. I cannot stop thinking about it. oh my GOD.

There's something I'd like to explain to the Hellaverse fandom, to people who might not have experience with this. Before Oops, there was this general bittersweet feeling around Blitzø wearing his mother's brooch. Like it's sad, he misses her, but it's sweet that he always wears it around. He loved his mother so much.

Well, It isn't actually sweet that he wears it. I was wondering if the writers understood how survivor's guilt and PTSD can manifest with these trinkets, and this shot from Ghostfuckers actually confirmed it for me that they do.

In his panic attack, Blitzø ripped it off. He needed to get away from it. Tilla's brooch isn't just sentimental memorabilia, it's a constant reminder of his failure. He literally wears his guilt with him everywhere he goes. I used to do this too, I have a small vial of my friend's ashes and I used to wear it on a necklace chain every single day. I still have it of course, and it's very precious to me, but the need to wear it stemmed from my subconscious compulsion to remind myself of the loss - NOT his life, the LOSS of his life, and how guilt ridden I was over the manner of it. It's not a healthy way to remember the people you loved.

I hope there will be a point in the future where he doesn't feel the need to wear it around his neck anymore. If that time ever comes, regardless of if it's a big story moment or a quiet, subtle one, it will be a VERY huge moment for Blitzø.

Based on Hades 2 early access. I'm having fun with the idea of ways Melinoë could meet Hypnos.

The escape spell, the cruelly necessary evidence of her failure, tugged Melinoë through the weft of the world like a slipped stitch.

The scythe had hurt. The scythe always hurt, as proper punishment for her carelessness and proof that she was not sharp enough, quick enough, strong enough to complete the only task she'd ever been given- and now the magic primed in case of her failure would reel her back like a naughty kitten, all teeth and claws and no discipline. To darkness. To dreams. To do this again.

"-goodness, your near-deaths are always so violent, it's hard to get a word in edgewise! ...Hello? Hello? Is this thing on?"

In the dark between life and living again, Melinoë blinked.

Sometimes, there were memories here, wrested from the jaws of Time in recompense. Her pound of metaphorical flesh. Sometimes, there was Moros, who was there when all men died.

Here and now, there was a startlingly familiar god with startlingly short curls, grinning at her over a plucked poppy. He twirled it through his fingers and beamed.

"There you are, princess. Welcome to almost dying! You should try not doing that, I hear it's bad for your health."

"Lord... Hypnos?" He was awake? ...did this count as awake? "Is it really you?"

Hypnos shrugged, plucking a petal from his poppy flower. "Really me? That's a funny question. Not a very useful one, but a funny one! I'll think about it and get back to you." He plucked another petal, the little sound too-loud, too fleshy somehow. "You're waking up soon."

She couldn't exactly tell. It was always cold here, skimming the edge of silent oblivion. Melinoë tried to bow with limbs she couldn't feel. "I am honored by your visit, Lord Hypnos, if it is truly you. To what do I owe the pleasure? Perhaps you know of some way to wake your body...? Everyone misses you terribly."

He giggled at her strangely, shaking his head with a queer look like he worried for her head. "Waking me up is the last thing you need to worry about, princess. I'm Sleep! I'm busy. My brother's trapped, somewhere." He smiled, but it showed no teeth, and the gold of his eyes shone with brittle ice. He plucked another petal, calm and controlled, and she heard the flesh of it tear almost wetly, milky sap bleeding over his fingers. Hypnos prodded at it, felt the stickiness between his fingers, and she felt the cold clamp around her spine like gentle fangs.

He would not harm her. Probably. But she'd only watched him sleep her entire life- never actually spoken to him. And he had every reason to be waking in a terrible mood. She swallowed, and clung hard to polite protocol.

"You're waking up," he said again before she could speak, considering the ragged edge of torn petals. "You're trying to kill my uncle- and it seems you're having a bit of trouble! I'm sure you can do it, but maybe try something more effective than stabbing. We've been there, done that."

"A spell, then? Some kind of incantation?" That wouldn't shock her.

Hypnos yawned widely. Perhaps a little too widely, like he hadn't remembered how many teeth a person should have. "Nnno, no. I mean maybe. You never know!" He stretched, blinking heavily, and dragged golden eyes over her ragged body. "What're you the goddess of, anyway? If you're fighting a god, shouldn't you fight like a god? Just an idea."

The goddess of? That. Well. Hm. She'd been raised for a purpose. "Killing Time, I suppose."

Hypnos coughed in the middle of nibbling on a flower, snorted, and erupted in tinkling giggles that filled oblivion with little stars for a moment. "Oh- oh, that's good, wow. I like you. We have to do this again sometime." A final flower petal split off under his fingers, weeping white blood, and he waggled it at her in a little wave. "Or maybe we won't! You're smart, maybe you'll kill poor old uncle Chronos this time. Don't forget my advice and you'll do great, I know it."

She wanted to tell him to wait. She wanted to ask questions, do something. He'd been both helpful and not, if she just asked the right question then perhaps- but the cold prickle of moonlight raced like hellfire through her limbs, shocked awake from mostly-dead to debatably-alive, and the dewy grass of the Crossroads clung to her cheek like poppy sap.

She groaned, long and low, in the smallest moment of wallowing she could afford. Back to killing Time again.

The wind in the withered trees sounded almost like tinkling laughter.

In light of Hades 2 adding new designs and MORE Nyxblings, here's a little face study I did of Chaos, Nyx, and their family. Someone once mentioned that Nyx's children who's got features she doesn't have actually have Chaos' features instead, and I wanted to compare and see which child resembles who more.

Additionally, shoutout to @blood-starved-beast for their post about the age order of Nyx's children because it has helped immensely with the brainrot.

Detailed analysis under the cut.

Firstly, the parents:

For parent and daughter, Chaos and Nyx don't really look the same. However, the cheekbones and jawline that could cut glass is hereditary lol. I wonder if there are other children of Chaos who look more similar to them?

I also like how Chaos' Hades 2 appearance could be a nod to them reconnecting with Nyx and probably wanting to look more "normal" (or as normal as they could get) for the family reunions. The exact same makeup style is cute.

Next up, we have the older children (excluding the Fates, whom we haven't seen yet):

Charon is a tough nut to crack because his portrait is so heavily shadowed and he also wears a bigass hat, so I don't really know his facial structure, but from what I could see, it's more like Chaos'.

Moros' eye shape is weirdly different from the rest of the siblings, but they appear to be downturned and large, which is closer to Nyx's eye shape. While his facial structure is more like Chaos', his eyes in particular make him look softer.

Nemesis actually has a different face structure from Nyx. Her coloring is the exact same (sans skin tone), but not the face. However, her hairstyle is similar, including the updo.

Lastly, the younger children:

It's probably because Hypnos' expression was drawn more comically, but as soon as I take a good look at his new portrait it's made greatly apparent that he and Thanatos are actually identical in terms of facial features. What makes them appear even more different is the hairstyle; Than's go straight down, Hypnos' is fluffy and piled high on his head. They also have similar face shape as Nyx, but with a squarer jawline.

You'd think their hairstyles are radically different. However, this official art of long-haired Than shows that his hair curls at the ends. His hair is straight now, but I'd like to think he straightens it out, because otherwise it would look a bit wavy still.

As for Eris, people keep saying that Nem looks like Nyx the most, but Eris looks astonishingly similar to Nyx. Oh, the irony of looking like the parent you detest.

Summary (and some thoughts):

Face structure-wise, the older children look more like Chaos, while the younger children look more like Nyx.

Of all Nyxblings we've known, only Nemesis has black hair.

Except for Charon, the children's eye art style is reversed between Chaos' and Nyx's (the ones with purple eyes have visible pupils and highlights, while the gold-eyed ones have no visible pupil or highlight).

Where did the curly hair genes come from? The twins are explicitly stated to be fatherless, too. Maybe some other children of Chaos have curly hair? Maybe Gaia, as she was mentioned in Hades 2?

I have a theory that the older children look more eldritch (more similar to Chaos), and only started to look "normal" during Nyx's separation from Chaos, and the cutoff point is Moros, unless Momus is older than him. Would be cool if the Fates are an amalgam of three bodies, because they're triplets and older than Charon.

Thanatos cutting his hair was actually a smart decision because his new hairstyle flatters his face shape more. I'm sorry darling but you don't have game in styling long hair. Too bad he and Moros don't know each other, big brother could've given him tips.

The entire family is hot. Nuff said.

Babysitter Hypnos and baby Melionë

Headcanon: Hypnos is the only Chthonic sibling in the House who has offsprings (the Oneiros) so Nyx tasks him with babysitting Melinoë when the others are busy.

Drawing this while realizing Hypnos is the only one who’s never been outside of the House in the first game. I thought it’d be fun to think of a scenario where he bonds with baby Mel while the others are out of the House. He’d have more experience since he oversees mortal’s dreams and is more in tune to their life, including taking care of a baby.

I’m one of those who think Hypnos is playing an important role in Hades 2. Think about it, with Thanatos trapped and Hermes too busy with the war above, no peaceful deaths occur to mortals and they continue to live, in many cases, in agony. So as to let them rest peacefully and not potentially become pawns in Chronos army, Hypnos would be busy trapping the mortals and lingered shades in perpetual sleep until the war is over, hence putting himself in the dreamscape and maximizing his influence.

Just a thought, but would you agree that the evil Master Monk Guan timeline confirmed that the main thing keeping Chase Young from gaining such a massive advantage over the Xiaolin side was his inability to truly work with other Heylin baddies, particularly Hannibal Roy Bean himself?

Yeah, I'd say so.

The biggest players on the Heylin side are ancient and very powerful. Dashi's team was able to match the Heylin's might back in the day, but after Dashi's passing and one of his teammate's defection, the power scale tipped firmly in the Heylin side's favor.

If the Heylin side all pooled that power together, then in the absence of Dashi's trio, nothing is stopping them from Evil World Domination.

Hannibal and Wuya are typically willing to work together towards a common goal, but Hannibal needs to attain power from elsewhere. The fallen monk Hannibal choses to try to make his muscle makes all the difference.

In fact, Hannibal would be the one that would need to spearhead this type of alliance, because no one else on the ancient Heylin side would really want to share the throne as their first option. And despite himself, Hannibal's bread and butter is still using people. He'll use that to play peacemaker among the villains when it suits.

Hannibal keeps his monk in line and Wuya has enough confidence in Hannibal needing her too much to cheat her out of this, that the alliance works. And in turn, Wuya needs Hannibal to keep his monk in line so she doesn't get sealed or de-powered again, which makes this a mutually assured destruction. Which makes for a stable enough partnership.

Chase is currently still feral when they all team up, but it wouldn't surprise me if, in a few centuries when Chase comes back to himself, Chase eventually personally tears apart this Heylin alliance, too.

In the alternate timeline, Hannibal is able to make Guan go along with him. And as they amass power, Hannibal probably eventually found a way to free Wuya (probably still makes Jack do it), and Guan is still subservient enough to Hannibal at that point that she'll work with them despite otherwise having reservations about working with any of Dashi's lackeys.

In the main timeline, Chase turns on Hannibal and seal him away in the Ying-Yang dimension shortly after he regained his senses from the Lao Mang Lone, so the main thing that would have chosen to capitalize on uniting the Heylin side is gone.

Chase also refuses to play nice with anyone on the Heylin side for the long term, or with anyone besides Omi, really. Which goes a long way towards sowing division between everyone else on the Heylin side too. There's already very little trust to go around among the villains.

A lot of the time, Heylin infighting is keeping the Heylin side more in check than the Xiaolin forces are.

Chase even personally dealt with the threat of Wuya coming back by taking away her main option of getting her powers back, which was way more effective in clipping her wings than the monks resealing her in an unlocked puzzle box. And Chase taught Omi how to get Sibini out of Clay's body so they could seal him before Sibini became an actual Heylin threat.

Chase even helped beat the spiders. And it didn't seem like this was the first time ensuring the world doesn't get destroyed, because this world is his to take over, and he doesn't want anyone messing with that's his.

In the interim between dragons, Chase and Guan are probably still what's kept this world standing, ironically enough.

Chase isn't by any means a good guy. But he's only interested in ruling as an apex predator. He's vain. He's cocky. There are very few people he's willing to stand by the side of at the top, and absolutely no one he's willing to stand underneath for it.

In his eyes, if Chase isn't ruling the world, no one gets to.

(He probably slipped up in the 80 year bad timeline because he was too distracted by Omi's disappearance to keep tabs on his Heylin competitor's power grabs.

And Jack, as the only other person whose been shown to recognize the potential in temporarily setting aside his differences with his Heylin competitors to amass power together, probably took the chance to pull a lot of power grabs in Omi's absence and then double-crossed them all. Including getting Wuya and Hannibal temporarily on his side too, since he's stolen Wuya's power and Hannibal's Moby Morpher at some point.)

tldr; if any Heylin besides Chase starts amassing power, Chase is more likely to squash that than the Xiaolin warriors are. He does not play nice with other.

SVSSS Au

Shen Yuan transmigrated as a baby before canon, either left in forest by someone o born from a magical plant.

He survives only because he was found by the previous Qian Cao Peak Lord, a few months before ascension.

The Peak Lord then put Mu QingFang in charge of taking care of Baby!Shen Yuan until he could put him for adoption. But MQF bonds with Baby!Shen Yuan and decides "this is MY CHILD" once he is Peak Lord.

The twist? Shen Yuan looks like the lovechild of YQY and SQQ, more noticible the older he gets. So he hides him in Qian Cao and swear his disciples and martial sibiling in silence.

Only Wei QingWei (because I ship it) knows - among the others Peak Lords- and is co-parenting Shen Yuan.

Then SQQ qi deviation happens and is taken to Qian Cao instead of being left in the Bamboo House.

The innevitable descovery happens.

MDZS AU: Wei WuXian is resurected in a Jiang Cheng Look-alike and adopts Mo XuanYu as his brother.

And the story goes the same way as always, except that LWJ has to deal with his natural reaction towards JWY face by thinking only in wei Ying in repeat, and Mo XuanYu gets to work in his depresion.

Also, WWX uses his mask in public until the end of the main story.

(and I'll add my headcanon that mxy is a genius n cultivation theory but bad in the practice, and wwx is more than happy to have someone to nerd-out to).

Difference between sect (门派  ménpài) and clans (氏 shì /世家 shìjiā)

yukirayu has asked to explain difference between sect (门派) and clans (氏/世家) and why we’ve translated it in this manner. .

In Chapter 29: “Back then, with Wen Mao at the helm, familial clans flourished, while sects declined. Cultivation powers that were based on blood ties emerged in rapid succession, like the sprouting of bamboo shoots after the rain.” (当年以温卯为首，兴家族而衰门派，以血缘关系为纽带的修仙势力雨后春笋般拔地而起。)

The term “世家 (Clans)” can be translated as “aristocratic family”. This term was first used in chapter 1 to describe the prominent families in the cultivation world. (Chapter 1 - Suddenly, everyone, be it the aristocratic families or the wandering cultivators, 一时之间，无论是世家名门，还是山野散修… ). The term “氏” (taken from the term 姓氏, or family name) is commonly used as a form of address for these 世家, hence the word “clan” is a suitable term for translating the word “氏”.

There is a clear distinction between 世家 and 门派. From what we read, Louis Cha’s (the famous wuxia writer) usage of the two terms is as follows: 

门派 (Sect) describes strict master-disciple relationship. The martial arts within the sects have a common origin. Although one is able to self-invent or specialize in a particular area, their skills still share the same foundations.A sect would usually abide by a strict seniority system (ie. teacher and student) as the relationship between each member is clearly defined. In order to uphold its integrity, the sect would usually select disciples with good moral character to take on the leadership. 

世家 (Clans) is an organisation that is bounded by blood ties. These clans share some similarities with sects in terms of legacy, however the blood ties between each member results in stronger ties as compared to sects. Yet, due to the influence of blood ties, the best disciple might not be the biological son of the leader but the designated heir is usually the leader’s biological son. Even if a disciple was incredibly talented, he could not compete with the leader’s son for leadership to the sect. This is the reason why clans are unable to establish themselves for a long time. 

Realistically speaking, it’s hard for families to expand due to bloodline limitations. Hence, in Chapter 29, after the siege at Luanzang Gang, the clans started enlisting talented individuals. That does not deviate from the understanding of a clan. In Chapter 3, it’s stated that the Lan Clan’s cultivators of a different surname (外姓修士 wàixìng xiūshì) are given moes that do not carry the family emblem.
