Some art pieces of my fav webtoon comic #loreolympus - I wanted to try my hand at the particular art style of the artist. With my own flair of course ✨🖤 I don’t own these images, nor to I make any money off of them. Just for enjoyment and practice! Love Aidan Image description: two digital art pieces- the first being blue skinned Hades from the webcomic Lore Olympus. He is grumpy and glaring at the viewer from his dark throne. A red scroll unfurls from one hand. His crown shines white above his head. The second is pink skinned Persephone in her Queen of the Underworld look. Red eyes, low cut dark dress, and dark crown radiating from her waves of pink hair. . . . . . #DigitalArt #DigitalArtist #Artist #QueerArtist #PersephoneArt #HadesArt #MadeWithProcreate #Procreate https://www.instagram.com/p/CWRbFXfPw0J/?utm_medium=tumblr

Dream: The Arbor Ship
Dream: The Arbor Ship
I steer a giant steamer-like ship through a narrow harbor passage. The water is calm and crystal clear blue the same as the warming sky. I have picked up my passengers from a secret dock further inland, and am not sailing out of the harbor/river into open water dotted with medium-sized islands. The islands are green and lush. Another dock appears to my right- the starboard side. There are busy…

!!New Project Announcement!! Several months ago, I began working with a friend to help them revitalize their creative life. We found a common language with the use of tarot as prompts for making art pieces, digging into personal stories about art-making, life choices, and emotions. Share it with others. So here I am! (Buzzing in excitement) I am offering THREE Tarot Art spots (For right now) The purpose being: 1. To work through creative blocks 2. The rain is falling, and the pumpkin candles are lit. Here’s some smaller art prints for your spooky season decor needs! These are smaller prints- 8x6 inches. First image: “Witch Sickle” A line art in black, grey, and red depicts a hand holding a red handled sickle. A spider web drips from the fingers to bangles and bracelets at the wrist. Second image: “SAGA” A warm light brown skinned person stands in the midst of waves of rainbow arches as rain falls from a blue sky. Their dusty pink hair floats above their head as tears trace their solum face. Third image: “The Divine End of Summer” A confidently smiling person with pale pink skin stares directly at the viewer. Their long red hair fans out above their head, spilling flowers while leaves curl up from their shoulders and neck. If you live around the Bellingham, WA area you can find my art in @artandhappinessbellingham! Happy Pie Eating Season! “The Flowering Tallship” By @chronofluiddruid
There’s a dream. In the wild garden of the ocean rises a ship with red irises as sails. Her center is umber and gold. Unapologetically herself, and free. Free between the waves and the scrape of the sky. The blue moon. Image description: A digital drawing of a shadowy tall ship in profile with two masts. The sails of the ship are red and full- curling iris petals with goldenrod centers. Behind the ship, a textured blue moon frames the unfurling sails.

“SAGA” by @chronofluiddruid
“Sexuality and Gender Acceptance” is another umbrella term for the LGBTQIA+ communities. Catchy slogans are never truly nuanced enough to have a proper conversation about gender and sexuality because they are so much more than just that slice of the identity pie. All of us experience life at the intersection of our identities, roles, and histories- some more consciously than others. I prefer the term ‘Queer’, though I would like SAGA to gain more usage too. I also recognize that there are some folks who find “queer” unsupportive and hurtful as it was once a more generally used insult. Words are difficult sometimes, especially when those words are trying to describe something so complex and personal as gender and sexuality. And we still try- because it is important.

Peering Down the Path

A tarot spread for helping decide if a new direction you’re considering is right for you.
What Am I Missing? Things typically don’t beckon us when we are 100% content. What hole are you looking to fill? What element are you seeking out? What are you hoping to gain from this?
What Does This Path Offer? This is both the response to the question posed in the previous card and a guiding signifier for the whole spread. What does this specific path bring you? Does it heal, look pretty, or empower you in some way? Does it compliment what you’re searching for?
Short-Term Look What will the beginning of this path be like during the first month or three? Will it require a lot of prep-work? Will it be enlightening or frustrating?
Long-Term Look Where does this path lead after more time? Is it tough in the beginning but become really fulfilling if you stick with it? Does it start out strong but fizzle out later? Is this path an investment in your future or a temporary supplement? (Either is fine, but it’s good to know so you don’t cling to it after it’s spent.)

The Structure of Story is now available! Check it out on Amazon, via the link in our bio, or at https://kiingo.co/book
.
.
.
There are some scenes that just aren't going anywhere. There's little to no conflict and the reader's not really sure why we're here or what the point is. In some cases we can just cut these scenes and the story is immediately improved. In other instances, though, we may want to salvage the scene and give it a purpose.
What Is This Scene Trying to Accomplish?
First of all, be honest with yourself. What are you trying to accomplish with this scene? What information do you want to get across to the reader? Are you trying to get us to empathize with a character? Are you trying to foreshadow a piece of technology which will become important? Are you trying to show us the extent of the villain's power?
Once we know what a scene's trying to accomplish, we can figure out how to get a scene to serve its purpose in an engaging and interesting way. It all starts with bringing clarity to the scene's purpose. And if you can't come up with a clear reason for the scene, consider cutting it. If it doesn't serve the story, it doesn't need to be there.
Setting a Direction
Unsurprisingly, the best way to fix an aimless scene is to give it direction. In storytelling, direction is created by providing the reader with a moment in the future that they can anticipate. When there's anticipation there's direction. And now you've got the reader interested to arrive at that moment in the future!
This is essentially the same idea as giving your story an "obligatory scene" (e.g. the climax), such as when the hero and the villain duke it out. But now we're giving our *scene* an "obligatory moment." It's a future moment that we're obligating ourselves to write because the reader not only expects it, but demands it.
No matter the purpose of your scene--whether it's to get us to empathize with a character, to show off a cool technology, or to dramatize the villain's cruelty--be sure you've given your reader a future moment to anticipate. Let's look at four techniques: dramatic tension, dramatic irony, mystery, and promises.
Setting Direction with Dramatic Tension
When a character wants something and something stands in their way, there's a question about whether they'll get that thing. With this simple setup, we've created an obligatory moment in the future where the reader finds out whether the character succeeds or fails in their goal. This is dramatic tension.
If we see a character trying to cross a tight rope, we want to see if they'll get to the other side. If we see a character trying to evade a hunter, we want to see if they'll be able to escape. This simple setup keeps the reader interested. It works on the scene level and for the story as a whole.
To make dramatic tension most engaging, be sure your character has a strong goal, clear opposition, a plan, stakes (i.e. something they'll lose if they fail), and urgency.
Setting Direction with Dramatic Irony
Dramatic irony occurs when the audience or reader knows something that one or more other characters doesn't know. This can come in the form of some sort of secret that one character is keeping from another. When the villain is hiding in the protagonist's basement, that's a secret. When one character wants to hide their love interest from another, that's a secret.
Any time there's dramatic irony, the reader's waiting for the disequilibrium to be resolved. In other words, they're waiting for the character who doesn't know something to figure it out. They're waiting for the secret to be revealed. And typically they'll want to stick around to see this moment happen.
Setting Direction With Mystery
Mystery arises when desired information is missing. In most cases, a character is working to try to uncover that information. This technique is sort of a subset of dramatic tension because it's about a character with a goal of uncovering the information.
Any time there's mystery, the reader wants to stick around to see when the mystery will be uncovered. They want to find out who the culprit is, what the murder weapon was, and how the detective figured it out.
Setting Direction with Promises
A promise is a contract with the reader that something interesting will happen in the future. If one character says to another, "Wire us the money in two hours or we'll hunt you down," there's a promise of what's to come. When one character invites another to a party, there's an implicit promise that there will be a party in the story's future. We can even be explicit and just have one character say to another, "I'll see you at the bonfire tonight." A promise has been made.
Any time a promise has been created, the reader knows that that promise will need to be fulfilled in the future. This creates an obligatory moment in the future. Not all promises are equally interesting, of course. We're far more likely to want to stick around to see if the money will be wired in time to stave off the killers rather than to see two people meet at a bonfire. Inject your promise with the implicit threat that something will go wrong.
Putting it Together
Once you've determined the clear purpose of your scene, consider how that purpose can be served while giving the reader direction. If you're trying to show a cool technology in the world, perhaps show a character who misuses it and creates a problem that they've got to spend the rest of the scene resolving. If you're trying to show the cruelty of the villain, perhaps show the villain torturing someone while the hero waits in the shadows for the proper time to strike (thus injecting dramatic tension). Figure out how your scene's purpose can be served while also keeping the reader engaged.
