Baby Elsa! โ๏ธ๐ถ
Before becoming a Frozen nerd, I often wondered how Elsa was an infant. We know about her life as a toddler before and after the accident, but how was she as a wee baby? How did Agnarr and Iduna react to finding out about their first-born being blessed with such a power over ice and snow? Luckily, these two pieces of media were already ahead of me!
Here is baby Elsa making snow in her cradle as Agnarr and Iduna reassure each other ๐ฅน

(Frozen (Graphic Novel Retelling), adapted by Cecil Castellucci, with art by Paola Antista)
And of course, we also see baby Elsa in Chapter 42 of Dangerous Secrets in Iduna's POV, written by Mari Mancusi.

I love the way this scene was written and the way Iduna's and Agnarr's reactions were handled. It was exactly the way we would've expected it, knowing them as characters! ๐
I highly doubt it, but I wish we could get a glimpse of Anna and Elsa as infants in the upcoming sequels. We've already seen the sisters in almost all the stages of their lives, so they might as well add their baby phases into the mix while they're still making movies! ๐
And I just know editors would have a field day should that ever happen 'cause they don't need to keep reusing scenes of baby Rapunzel whenever they want to depict a baby Elsa or Anna LOL IYKYK

Do You Wanna Build a Snowman? โ๏ธ
Learned about this old Little Golden Book, with beautiful art illustrated by Mingjue Helen Chen, that features the lyrics from the song Do You Want to Build a Snowman. It starts out exactly the same as the montage in the film until the last part after Agnarr and Iduna are lost at sea. They used the lyrics to portray the rest of the story, and I think it's sooo beautiful ๐ฅบ
I sadly do not own a physical copy, so here are edited screenshots from this read-aloud video!

And I thought, "Wow, someone should make an edit inspired by this."
And, I guess, that someone is me...
Uh, how'd I do? ๐

Wait, That Never Happened! (Frozen Coloring Book Edition) โ๏ธ๐
Before the movie was released on November 27, 2013, they released a bunch of promotional materials such as music videos, storybooks, toys, and the like. One of which was a coloring book titled Journey to the Ice Palace, with art illustrated by "Disney Storybook Artists." Ooh, mysterious... Much like many books, there were numerous illustrated scenes that we either never see in the final film or are only slightly altered here and there. Obviously, they changed some scenes after they gave the marketing team the go-ahead to promote the film. Some of them have colored versions too, from storybooks. It's all very Mandella-effect-y!
Let's try to spot the differences, shall we?

Little Anna shivering after Little Elsa accidentally hits her with her magic! In the movie, we know she was knocked unconscious.

Agnarr carrying Little Anna as they visit the trolls in the Valley of the Living Rock. It should be Iduna. Even the storybook has her carry her little girl.

Kristoff and Sven overlooking Arendelle on what seems to be a clifftop. This is how they were introduced in the book. In the movie, we first see them selling ice in town, sharing a carrot. The closest we got of this in the final film was this scene of Anna and him.

Anna holding Elsa's gloves during her coronation ceremony! As we know, she actually places her gloves down on a satin pillow that the bishop was holding. I made a post about this recently, which ultimately inspired me to make this new post!

Hans putting a flower on Anna's hair. But there is a version of this in the book where she doesn't have the flower.

Elsa looking at Hans this way as he and Anna ask for her blessing of their marriage. In the movie, Elsa doesn't really pay attention to him all that much, seeing as she was already so overwhelmed by the whole marriage thing in general to even worry about who the fiancรฉ was.

Elsa sitting on an ice throneโwhich I also posted about! In the film, we never see her create one.

Anna and Elsa arguing in her ice palace with hostility. Very similar to the storyboard for the deleted song, Life's Too Short. In Frozen, we know the scene was replaced with a reprise of For the First Time in Forever, showing a very anxious Elsa and an optimistic Anna, both exhibiting deep love and care for one another in their own ways. In here, they were fighting and insulting each other. #Not our Anna/Elsa! I'm so glad they changed it.

Gran Pabbie with a cane and a slightly different design.

Elsa isn't shackled (yet) during the dungeon confrontation with Hans. We know that she already had those on before she even woke up.

And finally, my favorite! Hans still conscious after the whole scene where Anna freezes and his sword shatters. Then, before he "finishes the job," Kristoff comes in to stop him. In comparison, Hans, in the film, flies back and is knocked out by the force of the sword shattering on Anna's frozen body. Later, Kristoff was about to deal with Hans when he woke up after the thaw, but Anna stops him.
Interestingly, this scene is actually still in the Junior Novel!

Not a surprise because this book was also released before the film. They probably took it out because they wanted Anna to be the first to punch himโfor the girl-power-ness of it all! In the coloring book, she still does, so that means we could've had the KristAnna couple both punching Prince Douchebag. Not to mention, Kristoff VS Hans! Sigh, remember what they took from us...
She is beauty, she is grace, she will punch you in the face!
There are a few more, but those were the ones I found to be the most interesting! It's always fascinating to me to see alternate scenes and 'what could have been's for this amazing film and IP that is Frozen, and how every little change made the film into what we all now know and love.
To end, let's have a throwback to this iconic meme post featuring one of the pages in the same coloring book.

My little finding outside the movies - "Royal Portraits" โ๏ธ
My eleventh finding is how many appearances of royal portraits in various books ๐ While working on my lingonberry finding related to Fantasy Springs at Tokyo DisneySea, I've found more movie/book reference in the park, I love seeing all the decorations, including the small details like the sleeping Sir Jorgenbjorgen, books title, lutefisk, sextant, various portraits hanging on the wall and more ๐
I've found there are many unknown portraits that I think have a high chance of being Anna and Elsa's ancestors. I've also noticed that a few portraits are mentioned in various books too. So, here are my findings inspired by these details ๐
Before I begin, I want to give a shout-out to the Arendelle Archives projects related to royal family: Arendelle's Family Tree and Anna and Elsa's lost relatives!โ๏ธ
Three royal portraits from Fantasy Springs at Tokyo DisneySea. (Pics credit 'ann_mochi' from X)

2. The same portrait was appeared in World of Frozen at HongKong Disneyland. (Pic credit: here)
3. The same portrait was appeared in Frozen 1 and Frozen Fever too.
(So who she is, I'm really wondering about it...)
4. An unknown Viking portrait from Fantasy Springs at Tokyo DisneySea (Pics credit 'westergaard2319' from X)
5. A Frozen World - Various royal portraits (Pg. 44 & 45) (the portraits are in the council chambers)
The same Viking portrait was appeared in here (the middle portrait)
The 4th portrait from the left was appeared in Frozen 2.
6. A Frozen Heart - Anna great-great-great grandfather (Pg. 34) (the portrait is in the royal family's portrait room)
7. Dangerous Secrets: The Story of Iduna and Agnarr i. Agnarr great-great-great grandfather, King Eric (Pg. 51) ii. Agnarr great-great grandmother, Queen Else (Pg. 51) (both of the portraits are in the royal family's portrait room)
iii. Agnarrโs mother, Queen Rita (Pg. 116) (the portrait is in the secret room at the library)
8. Forest of Shadows - Aren of Arendelle (Pg. 65) (the portrait is in the secret room at the library)
9. Polar Nights: Cast Into Darkness - Aren of Arendelle (Pg. 128) (the same portrait that appeared in Forest of Shadows)
10. Additionally, there are a few captain portraits appeared in Tokyo DisneySea and HongKong Disneyland.
Two captains from Fantasy Springs at Tokyo DisneySea (Pics credit 'westergaard2319' from X):

Another two captains from World of Frozen at HongKong Disneyland: Captain Storm Ostberg and Admiral A.R. Nannsen, which I don't think they appeared in any books. (Pics credit: here)
I might missed any, feel free to add on ๐

My little finding outside the movies - "Lingonberry" โ๏ธ
My tenth finding is how many appearances of Lingonberry in various books ๐ I was planning to stop my little findings, but I've come across some interesting topics lately so I've decided to continue. I guess I won't stop and will keep researching whenever I find topics that I love ๐
There's been a lot of news and pictures about Fantasy Springs at Tokyo DisneySea over the past few weeks. It's interesting when I found that a food sell at Oakenโs OK Foods is includes the lingonberry jam, and this reminds me I've noticed that lingonberries are actually mentioned in various books ๐
ย 'Oaken's OK Foods' in Fantasy Springs - Tokyo DisneySea, "Cardamom roll with Scandinavian-style spiced meat and lingonberry jam." (Pics credit 'dtimesjp' in Instagram)

My little finding outside the movies - "Krumkake" โ๏ธ
My last (ninth) finding is how many appearances of Krumkake in various books ๐ As Anna mentioned, there are a lot of bakers in Arendelle (from 'All Is Found: A Frozen Anthology - Engaging Anna and Kristoff'), this means lots of cookies, waffles, and pies are mentioned in various books. However, I've noticed that the cookie with the most appearances, which happens to be one of Anna's favorites, is Krumkake๐
Frozen: The Junior Novelization (Pg. 32)
2. A Frozen Heart (Pg. 90)
Based on the two books above, I believe that what Hans was eating was Krumkake:
3. Conceal, Donโt Feel (Pg. 16)
4. Dangerous Secrets: The Story of Iduna and Agnarr (Pg. 166)
5. "Engaging Anna and Kristoff" in All Is Found: A Frozen Anthology (Pg. 68)
6. "Anna and the King" in All Is Found: A Frozen Anthology (Pg. 186)
7. "The Next Right Thing" in All Is Found: A Frozen Anthology (Pg. 330)
8. Lost Legend: The Fixer Upper (Pg. 63)
9. "A New Reindeer Friend" in comic Disney Frozen Adventures: Ice and Magic (Pg. 51)
10. Frozen: The Essential Guide (Pg. 9)
11. Unlocking Arendelle: My Treasured Memories, it's interesting to know the Krumkake recipe and how to make it, love this book so much!
12. "Oakenโs Invention" in Frozen Storybook Collection (Frozen 2 version) (Pg. 62)
13. Disney Frozen: True Treasure (Pg. 63)
I'm making two little findings in a day ๐ This will be my final finding, it's so enjoyable to uncover the connection between various books. Honestly I can't believe it's been two months since I made the first finding, I would like to thank you to everyone who enjoys my little findings ๐ I haven't finished all the Frozen books, so I'll continue to add more whenever I find new ones (which I believe will be ongoing since there are so many Frozen books๐). I might compile all nine of my findings into a PDF, so stay tuned! ๐ฅ

My little finding outside the movies - "Kingdom of Chatho" โ๏ธ
My eighth finding is how many appearances of Kingdom of Chatho in various books ๐ There are many neighboring kingdoms to Arendelle, such as my latest finding, Vesterland, and other kingdoms like Zaria, Tikaani, and Eldora, which also make frequent appearances. However, I've decided to explore this kingdom next because of a story in 'Disney Adventure: Snowy Stories.' The story introduced the ruler of Chatho, Queen Colisa, who visited Arendelle when she was a child. It was a heartwarming story which I love it so much๐

My little finding outside the movies - "Kingdom of Vesterland" โ๏ธ
My seventh finding is how many appearances of Kingdom of Vesterland in various books ๐ King Jonas of Vesterland and his daughter, Princess Mari, were introduced in the Dark Horse comics. However, I had already read the novels before reading the comics, particularly the novel "Polar Nights" where Vesterland played an important role in it. So, it was a surprise to realize that they had already appeared in the comics. And I find it lovely to know that Arendelle has such a charming neighborhood kingdom ๐

My little finding outside the movies - "Secret Room in Castle Library" โ๏ธ
I'm going to make my own small project which is "My little finding outside the movies" (with hashtag snowflaketale's little finding). It will mainly cover novels as there's too many books in Frozenverse, but if possible I will try to cover most of the medias like podcast or storybooks or comics etc โ๏ธ
The first finding was about "Blodget's Bakery", now the second finding is about "Secret room in castle library" ๐
Dangerous Secrets: The Story of Iduna and Agnarr (Pg. 114)
2. Forest of Shadows (Pg. 49)
3. Polar Nights: Cast Into Darkness (Pg. 15)
4. Disney Frozen: Forces of Nature (Episode 1, 15:07 - 15:23)
Anna: "Well, I actually know a place where we could do some research. Disa: "Wait, really?" Anna: "Yes, in the castle, there's entire room filled with artifacts and texts about magic from all over the world!"
I found the castle library (the general library which didn't mentioned the secret room) has lots of appearances in books too, so I'd tried to compile them. I might have missed some of them so feel free to comment if you know more!
5. "Coronation Day" in All Is Found: A Frozen Anthology (Pg. 386)
6. "The Next Right Things" in All Is Found: A Frozen Anthology (Pg. 386)
7. A Frozen Heart (Pg. 33)
8. Conceal, Don't Feel: A Twisted Tale (Pg. 12)

My little finding outside the movies - "Blodget's Bakery" โ๏ธ
I believe many people are aware of it, but I've just discovered a shop mentioned in nearly every novel called "Blodget's Bakery", owned by Baker Blodget.
Frozen 2: The Deluxe Junior Novelization (Pg. 117)
2. Along with Unlocking Arendelle: My Treasured Memories.
3. "Engaging Anna and Kristoff" in All Is Found: A Frozen Anthology (Pg. 68)
4. "A Midsummerโs Song and Dance" in All Is Found: A Frozen Anthology (Pg. 138)
5. "Anna and the King" in All Is Found: A Frozen Anthology (Pg. 187)
6. "The Next Right Thing" in All Is Found: A Frozen Anthology (Pg. 330)
7. "Coronation Day" in All Is Found: A Frozen Anthology (Pg. 365)
8. Polar Nights: Cast Into Darkness (Pg. 63)
9. Dangerous Secrets: The Story of Iduna and Agnarr (Pg. 59)
10. Forest of Shadow (Pg. 69)
11. Lost Legend: Fixer Upper (Pg. 140)
12. Disney Frozen: Forces of Nature (Episode 1, 00:37 - 00:44)
Mattias: "Let's keep digging soldiers, at the end of the day I will treat you all some butter biscuits from Blodget's Bakery."
(thanks for the reminded from frangled5 in the comment!)
I'm curious about how the bakery looks, as I haven't come across any illustrations of it in books, or is it showing in the movie? I don't think so but who knows :) And I haven't read any Frozen comics, so I'm unsure if they include illustrations of the bakery.
I've been interested in and reading lots of Frozen books lately, so this was just a little discovery that I wanted to share๐

Elsa's Ice Throne! โ๏ธ๐
Elsa was supposed to have her own icy throne in her ice palace. As the song goes~ A kingdom of isolation, and it looks like I'm the queen. It makes sense, no? An ice castle should have an ice throne, duh!
We see her create it right before Anna's eyes in the storyboard for the deleted scene/song, Life's Too Short.
They even had a 3D model of it! (Thank you, @snoweowl, for sharing this to us on Discord!)

(Artist: Kevin Hudson)
Moreover, there's a coloring book page of her sitting on it, released before the movie came out, serving as one of the film's many promotional materials.

(Journey to the Ice Palace - Jumbo Coloring Book (2013). Illustrated by Disney Storybook Artists)
Here it is again in a storybook also released before the film!
(Elsa's Icy Magic (2013). Illustrated by Joey Chou.)
And again, in these toy sets.

(Disney Lego Frozen & "Frozen-themed Mini Ice Castle Play Set")
Not to mention, it's also featured as a piece of furniture in the game Disney Dreamlight Valley.
(Screenshot from the Dreamlight Valley Wiki)
And, of course, let's not forget all its beautiful concept art!

(Artist: Mac George)

(Artist: Claire Keane)

(Artist: Julia Kalantarova)

(Artist: Victoria Ying)

(Artist: Kevin Nelson)

(Artist: Lisa Keene)
...and probably more!
Sooo many versions of it, and they're all stunning. I can't even pick a favorite! But for whatever reason, they removed her throne. Sure, it wouldn't have had a significant impact on the plot, but it would've made for an interesting aesthetic! I mean, the Snow Queen would still need to sit somewhere, wouldn't she? ๐
I tried looking for an explanation on the removal, but nothing came up. Maybe I'm just a lousy researcher. Haha. Does anyone have any idea? Have you also seen Elsa's forgotten throne pop up anywhere else? ๐ค

UPDATE!
Redditors, as well as @antoineharrakblog, have informed me that Anna also holds Elsa's gloves for her during the coronation scene in the 2025 pro-shot of the Broadway Musical! ๐คฉโ๏ธ
That's very interesting, because, in the sl*me tutorials I've seen, Elsa actually places them down on a satin pillow just like in the movie! ๐

(Frozen: The Hit Broadway Musical (2025))

(Screenshot from a sl*me tutorial)
โAnyone know why they changed it? ๐ค
Anna holding Elsa's gloves during her coronation? ๐๐งค
We know how Elsa's iconic coronation scene goes: the bishop clears his throat, reminding Elsa that she is required to take off her gloves before she holds the ceremonial orb and scepter. Slowly, she does, before placing them down on a satin pillow.

However, some illustrations of the story depict this scene a little differently. It's actually Princess Anna who holds her gloves for her!
(Disney Frozen Storybook (October 2013). Illustrated by "Disney Storybook Artists.") (ooh, mysteriOOoOus)
(Frozen - Little Golden Books (October 01, 2013). Illustrated by Grace Lee, Massimiliano Narciso, and Andrea Cagol.)

(Anna's Icy Adventure (October 01, 2013). Illustrated by Denise Shimabukuro)
(Journey to the Ice Palace - Jumbo Coloring Book (October 2013). Illustrated by Disney Storybook Artists)
But why? It's likely because these books, as far as my sources tell me, were already made and published before the movie came out on November 27, 2013, serving as promotional materials to catch people's interest and go see the film. So, they probably changed a few scenes here and there after giving the go-ahead to the marketing team.
In my opinion, Frozen would've blown up regardless! Still, I found it to be an interesting alternate-universe-ish phenomena.
