Today for National Indigenous Peoples Day I'd like to remind everyone that we are choosing to live in a world where the most marginalized among us are the most likely to contract the world's most deadly disease. We only live in a world where tuberculosis still exists because we choose not to care about people who have less access to tests and treatment. We could give them that access. And if you don't care that TB is spreading in Indigenous communities then you should care that more drug resistant TB heightens the danger of it spreading to everyone else and causing a new TB pandemic. We could eradicate this disease. But we choose to allow some people to be treated as less deserving. This is a black stain on our country and a direct result of colonialism and racism. Canada needs to do and be better.

Been getting into making friendship bracelets. Very pleased with how the Celtic knot one came out. Next I'm going to focus on Percy Jackson designs and Pride flag colors. I'm getting good and fast enough that I might start trying to sell them. Let me know if you want one!

Van Horne Warehouse, Montréal, QC, CA
My sister commissioned this because it is one of her favorite views of Montreal . She passes it most days on the way to work. As I researched it I thought about how weird it is to have this beautiful husk of a warehouse just sitting there gathering dust and some iconic graffiti. Unfortunately it was hard enough for me to make all the lines actually make some sense since I've always been shit at perspective. Also using a very fibrous paper I got from the city meant I had to resort to some of the cleaner lines and look of the building back when it was in use. I think it gives the piece a bit of nostalgia though so I'm happy with how it came out.

I think we need to appreciate this part of Brennan Lee Mulligan's WIRED interview a lot more:
"The evangelical right in this country needs to manufacture outrage to hold onto its voting block. [The satanic panic about DnD] was arbitrary, as the targets of their outrage always are. Fight the power."

This is so true
Question: What is the greatest magic of all? Answer: Friendship, right? [B]: The greatest magic of all is not friendship, it's chronomancy, the ability to control and warp time. If friendship were the greatest magic, look, it's a pet peeve of mine (...)

Painted my sexy RP characters Victorio and Alva. Victorio is a thief from Mexico who is a bit of a brujo. Alva is a sidhe knight who breaks curses. We've been playing these two for years but I think only several months have passed in the world of the game because we're so slow lol. I drew them on Valentine's Day but I only got around to painting them last night.

Weeping Water Women #2: Isis and Nephthys mourning Osiris.
I always found the story of Isis and Nephthys interesting and poignant. Maybe because I'm polyamorous, the idea that Isis' twin sister has a child with her husband and instead of getting angry she raises the child (Anubis) as her foster son. Then when Nephthys' husband kills Osiris, she is instantly at her sister's side, sharing her mourning. They search the Nile for the pieces of Osiris and their crying is the sound of kite birds (pictured in the corners) and causes the rainy season and the flooding of the Nile bringing fertility to the crops.
This is the story we get from Plutarch anyway and it's clear that there have been many versions. But there is something very eternal in the shared grief of Isis and Nephthys. I think grief can only be borne in communion with others.
The ancient Egyptians would never have depicted this grief on the faces of their goddesses because they did not want to influence them to be grieved. That's why they always seem serene in ancient art yet with their hands raised (as Isis is half doing here) in the symbol of grief. I, on the other hand, think it's important to show even the gods sharing our emotions. Especially "negative" emotions on the faces of women. The only good thing about our emotions is that we all have them. I have supported many people through their grief, so I identify with Nephthys and I think it's beautiful to feel the same feelings as a Goddess almost as old as writing.

"Sunny Boy: Darcy as Xolotl carrying the sun across the river of death."

A couple of months ago my very good boy, Mr. Darcy, died unexpectedly. He was a Chihuahua mix who was my companion in everything and life has been really hard without him. My partner used to call him sunny boy whenever he'd bask in the sunlight. The Aztec used to say that the dog god Xolotl would ferry the sun across the river of death every night and that dogs helped the souls of the dead do the same. I know that Darcy would help and one day I hope to see him there. I made this papercutting to remind me that he brought warmth and joy, and that even though he isn't here, that warmth and joy isn't gone: just as the sun isn't really gone at night.
I love you Stinko-Binko. I miss you.

Got sick of sharpening pencils (I literally gave myself blisters) so I've switched to watercolors. I'm pretty happy with the results, considering I haven't really painted since university.
Here is my new d&d character. Her name is Lily Pluton and she's a cleric of Death. Her earrings are the symbols of the angel of death that my bestie and I made up in highschool. Also Lily has a flaming boney poney named Poppy. I love them both.
