   the expression he’s wearing is tired like the exhaustion undoubtedly pumping through his veins. it’s the price of a job well done and victory isn’t always spent with a smile. she’s all business as usual, stern and serious agent 13 but even she cracks a smile in the wake of their success. ‘congratulations’ is on the tip of her tongue but he steals the words straight from her mouth. it’s ridiculous really and this is hardly professional by her standards but she can’t deny the warmth that fills in her stomach while around him. 

    allowing herself to be happy is unsafe and maybe even stupid but she’s in too deep. he runs when she stays and he grounds her when all her senses scream at her to flee. they’re two strays who somehow fell into this pattern, push and pull but always ending up center. it’s a nice change and should he talk to her like that again she may even feel as though she deserves this. 

   ❛  she sounds LUCKY. ❜ a coy smile even as she feels eyes on her. god she must look ridiculous… labels always scared her and perhaps that’s why they never used them. but now? she likes the sound of it. heaven help her.     ❛  you may just have to settle for me. ❜

       Under normal circumstances Clint knew not to use labels too much, they scared her they scared him, but he was exhausted, too tired to care about anything and most of him knew she understood. She always understood, it’s why he liked her, maybe more if he would stop being too stubborn to admit it. Something about her was soothing. He was normally terrified when people got too close, but he couldn’t help but feel at home when nothing was going wrong for once and his biggest concern was how the smell of her skin seemed intoxicating in the moment.

       Arms loosened around her, still not daring to let go as his blue eyes found hers and a fond smile crossed his lips. How was it that his fatigue was melting away because of her, that he suddenly had the energy to just want to pick her up and carry her home? He could never explain anything with her, all he knew was that she was unique. 

       “ She is pretty lucky, she’s amazingly beautiful, the most badass person and of course she’s got a pretty damn great boyfriend. ” He couldn’t help but take advantage of the moment, not when her smile was the best thing he’d laid eyes on in weeks. “ Well, if it has to be you then I guess it’ll be okay, but you better find some way to make it up to me then. ”
