I wait for the day

original poem, first time sharing please be kind <3

my soul is so much bigger than this small village i call home

although the reassurance of a welcome place to stay is always in mind, it feels more of a trap than a familiar reality.

it feels like a force dragging me when i get too far. like a current ready to pull me under and drag me down till i drown in my own regrets.

and so i wait for the day where my suitcase is overpacked in a urge to take my life and leave. i wait for the day where i hear the plane hiss in a certain sibilance that comforts me through the turbulence of my journey.

i wait for the day where i will mourn the loss of my beloved friends who i left behind and will from that moment only see every few years, being named simply as an old friend.

but that day i will never be sorry for what i did for myself

for that will be the day where i will be on my own, finally independent and never understood.
