I completely agree. From what I’ve found, it is more likely that this guy is supposed to be Gaster
Tumblr media
He speaks in wingdings, and his room leads to the soundtest room where you can listen to Gaster’s theme.
the voice in the beginning of deltarune and the one that tweeted leading up to it is definitely gaster
but guys wanna know something cool
this guy?
Tumblr media
IS NOT. FUCKING. GASTER.

Deltarune Theory - Ralsei lied and tricked us into killing everyone
Alright some of you seemed to want to hear me talk about this:
Now, hear me rant:
Let’s talk about the Prophecy, or the Legend of the Delta Rune, and why it’s fishy. Ralsei says that the prophecy was ‘foretold by Time and Space’ and that it was ‘whispered among shadows’ but he is the only one that knows of it, it is never mentioned by any other citizen or character of the Dark World, the only exception being maybe Seam, to who we tell that we are legendary and we’re heroes and he says “So you’re the heroes that are going to seal our fountain?” but that’s about it, and we probably explained it to him (I doubt that all we said was “We’re legendary”).
Anyways, the prophecy says that another fountain of darkness has appeared and it’s shifting the balance and Ralsei adds on that if we were to return home, we must close it. (Another thing is that the prophecy makes it seem like all three heroes must close the fountain, but then he says that technically only Kris is the one that can do it soooo)
Closing the fountains takes us home, we know that. But it’s also stated in the prophecy that the fountain is “The geyser that gives this land form”, so basically, it’s the dark world’s power source. It’s also written in Ralsei’s unused manual that the manual is “Dedicated to the unending pillar of darkness that gives my body form”. Unending pillar of darkness, really sounds like the fountain, the important thing is that it gives his body form.
Tumblr media
And it is implied that the little empty kingdom that Ralsei is in, is created by the fountain that’s in the castle, and it is said that the Card Castle is created by the other fountain, because the King goes all “you wanna close our fountain” and stuff.
And it begs the question, by closing the fountain, are we getting rid of everything that fountain has created? Nobody seems to know, when you ask Lancer he says he’s got no idea what closing the fountain will do. They all have no idea.
Tumblr media
Except for maybe Seam, the one that we may or may not have told about the prophecy to. The Little coat hanger tells us that Seam didn’t want to come over after we defeated the King, unlike everyone else, who came to thank us. Maybe he knows what’s up, but because of his seemingly depressing outlook, he doesn’t care, or according to his condition, apparently neither Dark not Light hold a future for him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok, so we may or may not have destroyed everyone’s forms by going home, more fishy stuff with Ralsei and the prophecy:
Ralsei calls himself a prince yet his ‘kingdom’ is empty and there’s no King or Queen to make him a prince. And it is never explained why.
Tumblr media
The fountain that we are closing, may be actually the ORIGINAL fountain,
and Ralsei just made it look like it’s not, so that HIS fountain stays, and we close the other one, when in reality his fountain might be the rogue one.
Think about it, the only thing that says that the Card Castle’s fountain is the rogue one, is the prophecy, which nobody seems to know about except for Ralsei, meaning he could’ve made it up.
AND, if the Card Castle’s fountain is the rogue one, how come it has created SO much more Ralsei’s fountain? It created the entire game, all that the other fountain has is some tiny empty town and a single so called ‘prince’.
Another strange thing about the prophecy, since there’s no actual evidence that Ralsei is a Prince of Darkness (in fact by the end of the game he kinda looks more like a lightener),
the ‘Prince of Darkness’ from the prophecy might actually be Lancer.
Because unlike Ralsei, Lancer actually has a kingdom, a father who is a King, and everyone refers to him as the Prince.
AND another thing, his parallels to Asriel and Flowey:
Ralsei is no doubt connected to Asriel, he might even BE Asriel. Who else is also Asriel? Flowey. And just like Flowey, Ralsei is the first person we meet in this ‘new world’ (Dark World in Deltarune, Underground in Undertale), he uses similar language to Flowey (calling the soul the ‘culmination of your being’), he is overly nice just like Flowey was, and going along this pattern, just like Flowey, he will betray us.
He might’ve already did.
Anyways so TL;DR: Since the fountain is what gives the darkners their forms, by closing it we might’ve just killed the whole kingdom. Also there’s nothing to actually suggest that Ralsei is a prince, and that his fountain is the original one, except for his word. And Lancer might actually be the “Prince of Darkness” from the prophecy.
Tumblr media
This theory and evidence stuff was also brought together with the help of @camodiel btw,
Feel free to discuss/argue

My Predictions and Ideas for Deltarune
We’ll go back to the Dark World. That’s for sure
We might play as Susie
Lancer, being the king now, might have made crazy and wacky changes to the castle (and the knights too. Rouxlls is not an exception)
Kris will start to have genocide/suicidal thoughts, to the point that he tries to kill himself in front of his friends
Ralsei’s backstory and how he became the prince.
We might get to know who the Knight was
The King will somehow escape. Probably
Jevil might escape, too, if he gets to convince Lancer.
Rouxlls is wearing a bowtie. Don’t ask, just think about it
The Queen’s backstory?? It intrigues me to know who she was and where is she now
The Knight may be Kris’s ancestor
Noelle might discover the Dark World by accident
PAPYRUS
Someone will die/sacrifice themselves
New characters
New enemies
The fucker with a crown returns
Seam is now the Royalty’s shopkeeper, granted by Rouxlls
He’s now the Leader of the Royal Guardsmen (And Lesser Dad I)
Kris will fight to be themselves.
He isn’t mute, but very quiet. He might speak at some point
Maybe his eyes will be revealed too.

Deltarune: Gaster’s Followers
Many people are thinking that Gaster is confirmed in Deltarune because his followers show up in the game. I would like to disprove this theory the best I can. Not for malicious reasons, I just don’t want people to get their hopes up about Gaster appearing in Deltarune (I don’t think he will).
Reference image:
Tumblr media
I’ll start with the biggest one. This bird monster blocking the stairway may be a similar shape as the gaster follower, but that’s where the similarities stop. The bird monster has it’s mouth in a different spot and has an arm and legs while the follower is just a head. I think Toby may have just used the art from Undertale and drew over it to make a new character.
Tumblr media
Next is the follower holding his own head, who looks like the guy in the left-most car. He’s simply a character that was actually in Undertale. He was standing near the spider bake sale, holding a spider donut
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then it’s the Monster Kid looking follower. I don’t think this one has any ground either because this Monster Kid is the same one from Undertale, not the follower who’s suddenly in colour.
Tumblr media
Lastly is the follower I can only describe as looking like a gingerbread man and I couldn’t find them anywhere in Deltarune. If they do make an appearance, let me know.
I just want to restate that I’m not poking fun at the people who believe in this theory or saying they’re wrong. I’m made this post to try and attempt to disprove the theory because I enjoy theory-crafting in games and I don’t want people to think that just because characters similar to the Gaster followers were in Deltarune, Gaster will be too. My opinion on this is that Gaster will not be in Deltarune because his part of the story finished in Undertale and all of the references to Gaster in Deltarune are just that, references. Easter eggs, secrets, etc.
What do you think? Do you support the Gaster’s followers theory?

Deltarune End Question
Who are the Darkners in the front of the crowd. The white, red and black winking guys that look like they’re wearing ties. I don’t remember seeing them anywhere in the game.
Tumblr media
Are they more diamond Darkners? Their bodies kinda fit that. What do any of you think?

the mayor is noelle’s mother
(deltarune spoilers)
This post has been written as of DELTARUNE’s demo release. If you are reading this in the future, check the original post for any edits and clarifications.
Unlike Undertale where Asgore ruled as king, Kris’ hometown in Deltarune is run by a mayor. While never seen in the game, there are clues that the mayor is Noelle’s mother, once they are all presented together.
1. The mayor is a busy woman
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Despite being locked out of her own house, Noelle doesn’t want to bother her mother. The known working women in town in chapter one includes Toriel, Alphys, Undyne, QC (the rabbit in the diner), and the mayor. The first four are previously known characters who cannot be Noelle’s mother. This leaves the mayor. Furthermore, the mayor’s assistant informs Kris that the mayor is too busy to see them.
2. She likes the cold
Tumblr media
Due to her preference for the cold, the mayor is presumably a monster that fits in cold climates. A reindeer monster like Noelle and her father would be fitting.
3. She has a pine tree in the building
Tumblr media
While not decorated, the pine tree is the classic Christmas tree. Noelle’s family, the Holidays, are reindeers and have names associated with Christmas.
4. She likely lives in the biggest house behind the ornate gate
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
While Noelle’s house is unreachable, it can be seen in the town’s painting that it’s the huge house on the left side of town. Given her political position, it’s likely that the mayor lives in that house.
5. The initial C
Tumblr media
A person with the initial C has sent Asgore a note regarding his rent. While mayors do not typically collect rent, it’s possible that the mayor has this responsibility in Kris’ small hometown.
Furthermore, the Holiday family share a theme in names – they each have a name that has relevance to Christmas. It’s possible that “C” stands for a name that could be reminiscent of Christmas, such as “Chrissy” or “Carol”.

On the whole “Lancer is Sans” debacle...
Now, people can headcanon and theory whatever they like, but this theory honestly bugs me a lot? I feel that not only is it based on flimsy evidence, but it also robs Lancer of his individuality as a character, too. So, I figured I’d just do a quick post outlining why I don’t care for this theory, and why I don’t think it’s likely. Point 1: Appearances
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A lot of people who believe Lancer to be Sans from the past point out similarities in appearances. I will concede that both share similar proportions and palettes, but I honestly don’t think this means much, as if you look at Lancer’s talksprite…
Tumblr media
It’s rather clear that his face isn’t skeletal. For one, he has a mammalian mouth shape with the upside down Y shaped lips, plus a distinct upper and lower jaw. The thing people mistake for a skeletal nose? It’s the tail of a spade. Plus, if he was a skeleton, why does he have fleshy arms and legs? Why does his dad have a mouth on his stomach, a trait he probably has, too, if the original cards that inspired Deltarune are any indication? It really just feels like the fandom seeing another short, chubbyish character with a blue palette and wanting to lump him in with Sans willy nilly, though I know there are other reasons… Point 2: Personality…? This one I feel is a LOT dodgier. True, Sans and Lancer both have an interest in jokes and pranks, but that’s about where the similarities end. Lancer is very eccentric and energized, with hints of insecurities and a deep desire for friendship. He’s a neglected and possibly abused kiddo who may not have the best social graces and may not be a bit naive, but he means well and despite his attempts at being “the bad guy,” ultimately cares deeply for others. Sans is very laid back, quite social and, at least in UT, is on friendly terms with just about everybody. He’s always got a smile and seems to enjoy making others laugh, but also hates putting forth more effort than necessary, hates promises and obligations, and can be a bit manipulative and intimidating when the situation calls for it. He’s certainly not above pranks and does at least seem to care quite a bit for his bro, but his overall demeanor is radically different. “But Dorked,” I hear you say, “people mature over time! Couldn’t Lancer have just matured into the skeleton we know today?” But I think there’s still a pretty gaping problem with this logic… Point 3: Sans is in Deltarune, you guys
Tumblr media
Sans exists in Deltarune, as does his brother Papyrus. He’s new in town, but has probably lived there for at least a little while, seeing how he runs a grocery store and mentions some experiences there (selling to both Alphys and Toriel). I feel like this point is really self-explanatory. Yes, yes, you can argue “Ralsei is Asriel, tho!!!” But like… I think it’s far more likely that Ralsei is just a parallel to him, seeing how he looks a lot younger than a college aged boss monster would, and I’d find his blushing a bit concerning if he were literally Kris’ brother. Point 4: But what about his lab in Undertale?
Tumblr media
I see a lot of proponents of the Lancer Sans theory bring up the lab. Blueprints, the image of three people that says “don’t forget,” and the image of Sans surrounded by people we don’t recognize… Well, first of all, the blueprint graphic isn’t 100% identical, but even if it was, Toby is no stranger to reusing graphics when it’s convenient. To argue that this is the thrashing machine blueprint feels like a stretch. Moreover, Sans exists in Deltarune’s world. It’s entirely possible he could become involved in whatever antics await in future chapters. Some people are fond of Sans being a darkner… but while I won’t deny that he could have some connection to it, perhaps discovering it in later chapters, I’m not fully convinced just yet. Regardless, if that does turn out to be the case, that doesn’t mean he has to be Lancer. He is a skeleton. Most of the dark world entities are based on cards or objects in the school- so why change from that theme to a skeleton? Maybe there could be another area in the dark world with a different theme/feel to it, BUT… Is it not also possible that Sans will befriend our three heroes, or the plot involving the dark world will eventually bleed into the “real” world? And the people we don’t recognize… well, Deltarune is full of new monsters! Rudy, Berdly, Jockington, Catti, Susie, Noelle, her mother… point being, we could still meet more new people on top of that. Which is to say that I think the theory that the skeleton brothers originated from DR’s world but got dislocated to Undertale’s later makes a lot of sense and would explain so much, like Sans mentioning how he gave up on “going back”, his lost soul dialogue… Final Point: Santer of the Universe? Ultimately, though, my problem with both this is… why must Lancer be linked with Sans to be meaningful or important? This really seems like a symptom of a greater issue of elevating Sans to ridiculous levels of importance to the point where there basically is a Sans fandom that sometimes even eclipses UT itself. Now, I’m not saying people can’t have fun designing AU Sanses, but I feel that the overall importance of Sans is greatly exaggerated, and his character is twisted beyond recognition in so many works as it is. But if you take away the character’s personality outright, and make their story wholly unrelated to Undertale… is it even really Sans anymore? Again, if that’s your thing, have fun, but I just don’t get it. And besides, there are so many other interesting concepts in both UT and Deltarune besides Sans. Not every little thing has to trace back to him. It’s based purely on aesthetics, and not who Sans or Lancer are. And I think it’s far better if characters like Lancer, Rouxls, and Ralsei are allowed to stand on their own.

Deltarune: Who is the Soul?
*Spoilers*
The ending of Deltarune for me, like for a lot of other people, was a bit of a shocker. Our character flies out of bed, rips out their soul and throws it into a cage, then draws a knife seemingly out of nowhere.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My question is: Who is the character and who is the soul? I’ve seen a wide variety of suggestions about this. 1. The character with the knife could be Chara and the soul could be us as the player, perhaps post-genocide run. This is further supported by the fact that we are still able to move the soul during the cut-scene by using the arrow keys.  2. If the character is Chara then the soul could be Frisk and Kris is a combination of the two, or 3. the soul IS Kris and Chara has taken over his body (also maybe post-genocide run). 4. Perhaps Kris is still the character and he has torn US from his body so he can regain control, again supported by us being able to move the soul.
Tumblr media
I would like to add one more thing, the description on the cage in the bedroom is that it looks as if it’s taken some damage. This is just speculation, but is it possible that this has happened before? Could this not be the first time the soul was thrown in the cage?
Tumblr media
I believe in the first theory the strongest because the similarities from what we’ve seen in the ending and from Chara are striking. In the post-genocide pacifist route ending, Chara has red eyes, like the Deltarune ending. The clothing is also very similar, but that could just be because that’s what the Dreemurr children wear. The knife’s probably proof too, but I’m not certain.
I would love to know what your opinion on this is. Is Chara crossing dimensions? Are we, as the players, the soul now trapped in a cage? Is the soul still Kris?

Deltarune: Jevil Theory
While I was continually throwing myself at Jevil during my first playthrough of Deltarune, I had a bit of a thought. Like other people, I’ve thought a lot about how your choices don’t matter in Deltarune and how it may be related to Kris, from in-game dialogue, seemingly being unable to speak.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now we look at Jevil, a character who can definitely speak, going so far as to be the only character to actually have audio. He says things like “I can do anything!” and that he’s free. From that, could we assume that he has the power of choice?   (i.e. the power to do what he wants?) A power that we, as Kris, lack.
Tumblr media
This next part is a bit of a stretch: Could we relate Jevil literally having a voice to him being able to choose? Something along the lines of him literally having a voice in decision making. Perhaps. Maybe it’s meant to mean how choices can lead to chaos.
What do you all think? I know I didn’t word it in the best way possible, so if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Deltarune: Undertale 2
When I first started playing Deltarune chapter 1 the day it came out, I made myself two promises:
1) I would accept everything that would happen from now on.
2) I would not compare Deltarune to Undertale.
I feel as if comparing Deltarune and Undertale makes it harder to appreciate Deltarune for what it is, a new game. Constantly saying “This character is Sans” or “That’s like what happened in Undertale” takes away from the magic of a new game with great characters and a fun story.
A lot of people really love Undertale, and for good reason, but I believe it set the expectations very high for Deltarune. Personally, looking back, I believe Deltarune chapter 1 did pass those expectations, I love it to pieces. However, when the rest of Deltarune comes out I will continue to keep my two promises and choose to look at Deltarune as it’s own game instead of merely a sequel to a phenomenal game.
What are your thoughts?

Deltarune: Kris and Asriel
There seems to be a very distinct difference between Kris’ and Asriel’s sides of the room. Asriel’s room has trophies, decorations, even wallpaper and/or stickers. Meanwhile, Kris’ side is drab, empty, and noticeably colourless in comparison. This points to Kris lacking any distinct motivation until you, the player, came along. Even then, you still have the option to skip class by sleeping in the bed again (bringing you straight to the dark world)
Tumblr media
Also, if you say no to sleeping in the bed again, the game says that you can just sleep in class, further pointing to Kris’ lack of motivation.

Deltarune: Secret Tree
*Spoilers*
So, for those who don’t know, there’s an easter egg in Deltarune chapter 1 that involves a man, a tree and an egg. You can find this easter egg by moving back and forth between the darkness puzzle and the bird enemy rooms. With some luck, you’ll appear in a room with a single tree, with a “man” behind it. He offers you something, and if you accept you get an egg.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’d like to ask, who do you think this man is and what is the egg used for? As of writing this, I haven't found an answer for either. Some theories say that the man could be Gaster because of how he apparently disappears. Or perhaps it’s just a literal easter egg meant as a joke. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Note
Papryus was indirectly confirmed to be the younger brother in the original game both through a tweet about how he'd refer to Sans in Japanese and later officially through the actual translation in how he refers to Sans.
Interesting, I hadn’t heard about that. That potentially gets rid of the “kid Papyrus” theory, if he was already the younger brother in that translation. However, the chance is still there because the English version keeps the age difference vague and I’m not sure which translation would be canon.

Note
i'm thinking that Papyrus might have low self-esteem and be sad in Deltarune, kinda like how Ghost Mettaton is. but a younger Papyrus would be the cutest option.
That seems very possible, I definitely wouldn’t put it past Toby to do something like this to pull our heart strings.

Deltarune: Papyrus Theory
*Spoilers*
I was definitely shocked that Papyrus didn’t make an appearance at the end of Deltarune. However, Sans made an appearance mentioning that Papyrus was his younger brother.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Mad respect for the Bonetrousle pun)
An age range between the two brothers was never mentioned in Undertale so that could mean a few things:
1) Papyrus is simply confirmed to be the younger brother and he didn’t answer the door for some mundane reason (Busy, didn’t hear it, etc.)
2) This Papyrus may be a different one than the one we’ve known before. When you knock on their door, Papyrus doesn’t answer. This could just mean he’s merely busy, or it could mean that the skeleton we all know and love from Undertale may not be the same as the one in this world. (Deltarune was confirmed to be a different world from Undertale by Toby Fox in a tweet: https://twitter.com/tobyfox/status/1058193397767438336) It isn’t too farfetched to think about, Undyne has two eyes and Asgore isn’t a king, so maybe Papyrus is a child, is shy, etc.
What do you think is up with Papyrus?
