Nokia Lumia 920
Tumblr media
The Nokia Lumia 920, released late 2012 was recognised as the first Windows Phone 8 device that could compete in features and performance with the high end Android and IOS devices.
It has a  4.5″ TFT LCD display that sits behind curved Gorilla Glass which featured a high capacity touch screen that could be used with gloves on.
The 8.7 megapixel PureView Camera has  a Carl Zeiss lens with optical image stabilisation and excellent low light sensitivity.
Distributors were locked into particular colours meaning you had to switch your contract to get your favourite.  A future classic.

It has a tough metal construction with big dials on the top, an optical view finder with a glass pentaprism and is fully compatible with all Nikon SLR lenses..

The 1970's futuristic President Timelite with red LED alarm clock.  Open up the shell-like case to reveal an anglepoise 12 volt reading lamp with 2 brightness settings.  Other controls include a big "9 minute snooze" button, allowing you a break from the piercing alarm sound!

Sony WM-22 Walkman
Tumblr media
Released in 1984, this was the first Walkman in the UK to sell for under £30, and it was a Sony too! It has minimal electronics with only a volume control and chrome/normal setting. The mechanics are kept simple too with just play, forward and reverse using turned brass flywheels. These things are still selling on eBay today for over twenty quid!

Schmid Stereo Cassette Tape Player - Modell WM135
What isn't there to love about this beautifully efficient and simple personal stereo cassette player from the German electronic manufacturer, Schmid.
I like the little orange button labelled “talk” which you can press if you need to order a pretzel or something and STEREO written in big letters.
