Writing my book when I realise how british the narrator sounds. He is supposed to be but-

"The crew looked at each other, trying to find someone who may know what the girl was on about."

"“Okay, have fun,” Sparrow said, none the wiser to anything going on around him."

"What no one ever thinks to think, is how every conflict is usually solved once everyone has had a good cup of tea and a chat."

Not sure if other places have sayings like this, if so comment.

Half way through writing the second to last chapter and then I remember those three crew members I haven't mentioned since two chapters ago.

Now I could go back and put them in, ooooorrrrr I could just say they slept through the end of the book and then wake up to being stranded on a giant turtle.

How be safe from scams

Hello folks, in light of recent events (e.g. I think I was scammed), I have decided to make a post reminding people about keeping your money safe.

Here is a list of things you should consider when taking commissions online.

when it comes time for payment, always go through channels you trust and have used or tested previously.

ask your client for evidence that they have paid you and run it through a photoshop scanner just in case.

Check your client's public profile for anything suspicious before following instructions that may take advantage of you.

always have a trusted adult help with the payment process if you are new to it.

never follow instructions from an email you are not sure about.

follow your gut feelings, if you think something is wrong, it usually is.

and finally, take your own safety seriously and before others, even if your client says you're a bad person for it.

Anyway, I think I am going to be a lot more careful accepting commissions from now on.

Attention all artists on Tumblr!

Some of you might've gotten a comment on a post of yours asking if you do commissions and to dm them if you do take commissions.

Do not DM them they are most likely gonna scam you

The way this scam works is that they will overcharge you and ask for over the payment or something bad will happen to them, they are alwaya in a rush.

If you pay them your bank account will bounce, they will keep asking for more until your account is drained and the scammers have your bank details.

The best you can do is to not interact with them or block them.

I would not trust some random person in your comments asking if you do commissions

Sorry for double posting but APPARENTLY those commission scammers have showed up on Tumblr at least for the first time for me.

For those who don’t know what I am talking about, there were/are commission scams going on in Instagram and even places like Artstation where people would pretend to be interested in your work and try to commission a pet or portrait for the sake of trying to get your bank details. Here’s how to (somewhat) sniff them out:

1- They don’t seem to be an average customer/ person that would be involved in your fandom, or has a blank template for an account or don’t even follow you.

2- They ask you to draw a portrait or a pet picture either for themselves or their children/family.

3- They promise to overpay you (in the hundreds) and do not listen to you even if you firmly state the price is cheaper.

4- They are constantly asking for your email name, or private details regarding things like banking details or passwords or other private information others should not know.

5- They try and over reassure you they mean no harm, try to guilt you into giving them the info, or become aggressive over you not giving them what they want.

What should you do if you come across one of these guys? My best advice is to block and report. Sadly these people jump account to account so there isn’t really much to do other than spread this info to prevent artists from being scammed.

me, casually reading through my notebook, finds pages of notes for a fic I was writing and almost forgot about: I don’t remember this but I am gonna read it and see what happens.

later, remembering the multi fic series I am currently writing and haven’t updated in almost a year: oh no.

anybody else have so many wips that you forget some of them? Cus apparently I do.

It's funny how you learn more about you character by simply writing them. I just wrote a line in my latest chapter that really made me understand how that character relates to the mc.

Ironically it was the line that shattered his view of the mc, that made him rethink everything he knew about her. I guess it also made me rethink everything he knew about her too.

I just got described as an "ad hating commie" by someone because I said a minute of youtube ads is unpleasant. fully spent 5 minutes arguing and defending youtube ads. insane stuff

Sometimes when I'm writing my book, I feel like the more I write, the worse the plot gets. Like it's too low stakes for it to affect anyone but the main character. Or that there isn't enough action in there.

Then I remember that, that's what the first draft is for. (And that I wanted it to be low stakes, I just gotta work on the intercharacter relationships.)
