HOT TAKE: no matter how hard it is to accept it, Neteyam HAD to die.

I think that this will shape Lo’ak’s character even more since it is ‘believed’ that he will be the next mc. With his guilt and anger towards himself and Jake, it will for sure drive the whole afaa movie. The grief of the sully family will only strengthen the plot, especially Lo’ak growing angry with Jake—as seen in the afaa trailer, pushing Jake away in an argument.

AND let’s not forget the rage, guilt, and grief Neytiri is feeling after everything she has lost and been through. Her anger towards humans, specifically the RDA will create such tension and rising action in the movie.

However, I still think Neteyam has a part in the next movie. Whether he’s there in the flashbacks or spiritually.
