MAJOR UPDATE

We've moved back in with family, but things still aren't great

Our family's place is helpful for our mental health, but it's still awful for our physical health. We're stuck in here with fleas, flies, and roaches, plus some mice in certain areas of the house. The house is trashed, and it's falling apart in many places

Here are some pics of the current situation we're in, just for reference:

It's bad. It's really bad.

Right now we're trying to get a job to help with funds needed for the house, but we're still struggling to get hired. Our grandma is trying to find a new place to move to, but that also requires funds for a down payment, and potentially treatments for the house so we don't bring the bugs with us when we move

All in all, we're still not doing great. We're still struggling to get things taken care of and get ourselves into a place where we feel safe and comfortable. Things have been really hard for us the past few years, and we're still just not really sure what to do to make things better

Early 2025 Updates and Releases

Hey folks, it's that time again. We missed the past few months' worth of updates, but we're back with a quarterly one! We'll most likely be moving to quarterly updates again for a while

We have some good news (the releases 🎉) and some bad news (our health, finances, and housing situation 👎), and here's a look at all those things

The good stuff

We released a new tool called VTS Deck! This is for folks that want visual buttons to click for their VTube Studio hotkeys, but don't have access to a stream deck

We made our website code public! Feel free to check it out if you're curious about how our website is put together (spoiler alert: it's not very good)

We put together a bunch of streaming stuff for when we're off of hiatus! This includes art, channel points rewards, and some other fun things ^^

The bad stuff

We're separating from our partner of 5 years, and we need to find a new place to live

We currently have no income outside of Patreon, and working traditional jobs is still very hard for us

We're really not doing great mentally or physically at the moment, which makes these things even harder

We'll be trying our best, but we have to focus on figuring out an income once again, so we may not be as active for a while

Fundraiser is now closed!

Between the current donations, helping out family and friends, and doordashing when we could, we were able to scrape enough together to make another deal with our landlord for now, so we're safe to go ahead and close this for the time being. We're still not in a great situation, but we've made things work for another month

Hi folks! After struggling to land a job for the past several months, and after having our landlord raise rent on us, we've decided to put together a GFM to try to pull together funds for this month. This is pretty much a last ditch effort to avoid losing our house at this point

About us

We're the Grey Skies, a traumagenic and polyfragmented system with DID. We're best known for the things we create:

Various flags and comics

Integrations, tools, and libraries for PluralKit

And a lot more, honestly ^^;

In short, we love to create things for others, and want to continue being able to do so ^^

We're disabled and struggle with chronic pain caused by muscular issues, along with frequent brain fog, severe social anxiety, and depression. We're autistic and are also overwhelmed/overstimulated easily. These things make a typical job more difficult for us for a number of reasons, but we're still trying our best with it

Our Situation

Long story short: we had to quit our job in order to take care of our physical and mental health, and since then we've been struggling to land a new job that's stable and doesn't contribute to our health issues. Our partner also struggles with working, and it's been hard for both of us to find another means of income that can pay our bills.

Both of us have put in hundreds of applications in an attempt to land some kind of job, but neither of us have had much luck. We've run into a lot of scams (don't worry, we haven't lost anything but time to them), jobs that were harder on us than expected, and plenty of places that interview us and then ghost or reject us. We've had a handful of moments where we thought we'd get the job, only to end up getting rejected shortly after. It's become a pretty devastating cycle, to be honest.

If we do lose the house, we're not sure what'll happen. Our partner has family that she can stay with, but for whatever reason, that family doesn't want us& staying too- despite us being engaged and having been together for over four years now. We& have family in our home state that we might be able to live with, but in the past that home directly contributed to our worsening mental and physical health. It's also very cramped there already, with several extended family members living in a small home that's barely intended for 3 people, let alone the 6 or so currently there. Splitting up would be horrible for both of us as well, and we're afraid for our partner's safety if that happens.

Overall, these past few months have been extremely rough for us. We're hoping that this campaign can help give us more time to secure a stable job, or can help us to reach our goal of being able to work on our projects full time without working a second job.

we do have another blog that's meant to be the more social blog but like, part of me kinda just wants to merge them or get rid of one of the other or... something

i simbly dunno what to do with this one but i want to clean it up at a bit at least i think. hmm

ramble under the cut, no warnings but it turned into a much longer and kinda introspective post than originally intended oops

kinda tempted to just clear this blog and use it as a directory of our other blogs or clear it and then only use it to rb our posts from our other projects... but honestly i dunno what to really do with it bc we're very rarely on tumblr anymore >_>;

we're finally working our way back to being social after our several years of social burnout (and we're still not fully recovered yet) so part of us Wants to be more active in various social media spaces. but also I have no idea what we would even post about at this point. we have a million projects that we could post about maybe? but tumblr doesn't really tend to be a space for projects outside of art- or text-based things (eg. flags, comics, text resources) so i dunno if our current main projects (coding-related) would like... be worth it to post about here

there's also the fact that we want to be active outside of stuff to do with our projects bc it kinda feels like we've turned from the "social butterfly" we were called as a kid into "the only thing we can talk about is our Content Tee Em because that's All We Can Focus On" and that sucks. feels very corpo. i mean we don't have a ton of a choice bc we desperately need at least one of our projects to go somewhere so we can maybe turn this into a full-time thing, but frankly i don't want our existence defined by the projects we do and i'm trying really hard to reverse the damage that has done 😭 i want to exist outside of how many lines of code we wrote this month!! (and i know the only person putting that pressure on us is me but aaaaaaa)

Hate the "Go Premium" buttons? Have TamperMonkey?

Have I got a script for you :)

To be specific, it removes the "Go Premium" button in the bottom left of the screen (above the "Create" button), as well as the premium call-to-action button in the top right (under the search bar). This has only been tested on desktop, but may also work on mobile browsers that allow extensions (eg. Firefox on Android)

This is very simple, but it's effective- for now at least. It currently uses the site's randomized class names to select the elements to remove. If these change in the future (which is unfortunately very common, sorry) then this may stop working and need updating

It's pretty clear in what it does, and of course it's perfectly safe haha

EDIT: Oh right, instructions!

If you don't already have TamperMonkey, you can most likely get it from your browser's extensions store. Here it is for Chrome and Firefox

Once installed, click on the extension's icon in your browser's toolbar (or access its settings menu in general)

Hit "Create new script..."

Copy and paste the full script from the gist page into the interface and save it

Reload tumblr and it should work!
