i really wish simple things weren't so complicated within fandoms. a character can be problematic but interesting. a character can make a mistake but not be evil. a character can hold a position of authority and still be a victim. a character doesn't have to be perfect and pure and innocent to be a victim. a character doesn't have to be perfectly pure for you to like them. liking a character who's fucked up doesn't mean you support their every action. why is this so complicated

Harper: He wanted three resurrections,

Olive: Three? How peculiar. Was he willing to pay?

Harper: Not yet. But I did offer him to do some tasks for me with the promise of a discount. The poor fool accepted it without even thinking. I know he's not capable of any of them.

Olive: Good, good...as long as he never gets that resurrection. Find a way to stop him if he tries.

Harper: Got it. I'll watch him through the telescope, to see if he's planning something.

Harper: Oh...oh no! Pascal and Nervous appear to be plotting to kill Loki in order to complete one of the tasks!

Olive: That's my son!

Harper: I'll have to make sure that Loki isn't alone, so they won't be able to kill him as easily...and here I thought Pascal was a pacifist. His brother certainly made him sound like he was.

Olive: You should've done more research. You know how pretentious "heroes" can be.

Harper: I don't really feel comfortable assigning people a state of morality. And most of the town thinks that he's a homewrecker. I wouldn't necessarily call him a hero.

Olive: You and your-

Harper: Oh, right. I forgot about the summoning ritual.

Vidcund: Why were you spying on Pascal and Nervous?

Harper: Dude, it's...um...not that big of a deal.

YOU CHOSE: Agree to Complete The Three Tasks

After a goodbye from Harper and a walk home, you open the door to the smell of pork chops and the sound of your daughter playing the piano from the other room. You still never bothered to ask your brother Vidcund how he was able to gift you a piano, but considering the shady stuff that he (allegedly) dabbles in as a result of his unhealthy obsession with the Beakers, you don't want to take the risk.

Nervous: How was your walk, dear?

Pascal: It was fine. I went to visit Olive to see if I could help Jenny by resurrecting her family.

Nervous: Why would you want to? Jenny's been horrible to you!

Pascal: Well, it was my fault for not explaining things to her. And Johnny's my family, too. He, Ophelia and Lavender don't deserve to die just because Jenny was mean to me. Surely you'd want Ophelia back too, right?

Nervous: I only learned about each other recently, and we barely had time to talk. She's still a stranger to me.

Pascal: I see...

You update Nervous on the events that occurred in Olive's house.

Nervous: So Harper's only agreeing to complete these resurrections for you for free if you do a bunch of tasks for her?...sounds like she's taking advantage of you.

Pascal: Well, what other choice do we have? And where would we even start? We have to somehow get away with murder!...and everyone here hates me! There's no way I could get any of them to agree to let me set up a blind date with them!

Nervous: Pascal, dear. Calm down. We just need to take this one step at a time. It's not like they're going to become...more dead.

Nervous: Let's start with the murder. Loki and Circe's house has no security, and a one hour period where Circe is at work while their kids are at school. In that one hour period, we can go in and kill Loki, make it look like an accident, and then return home as if nothing happened.

Pascal: You've been planning this for a while, huh?

Nervous: Obviously! They ruined my life and nearly killed me! This is the least that they deserve!

Pascal: (Honestly, fair enough.) Wouldn't that put you at risk? They could try to kidnap you again.

Nervous: We could ask for outside help...maybe one of your brothers will be up to it?

Pascal: I can ask.

watched the entirety of DCAS yesterday so here's my updated tier list. was going to post this yesterday but I had a really bad headache after I finished it so I decided to sleep it off.

the subtle design choices among certain characters (Miriam and Lake wearing more casual clothes to show Miriam opening up and Lake being more free, Tess having more white to represent her improved mental state, etc) was a nice touch

I can see the appeal of Jakeden now. It's like Jaiden but without the questionable parts. Also considering James is on good terms with Jake now maybe he can join them as a polycule or something, idk

Magenta Team was really hard to watch. 80% of it felt like Fiore bashing (Jake and Ashley have their reasons but considering Fiore already got karma in S1 and was at a disadvantage the entire time she was in the game it felt unfair) and the 20% was the Jake/Ally and Jake/Aiden conflicts that were mostly started. The Jake/Aiden conflict I can excuse since that was from Alec's manipulation but the Jake/Ally stuff was unnecessary

Why was Ally depicted as the bad guy for caring about strategy and not wanting her one ally to antagonize the swing vote? Hunter was actually pretty hard to watch because when he wasn't bashing Fiore he was being really dismissive of Ally. Once they got to the Tiktok episode though she started being excessively petty

I remembered I saw someone saying that Jake might've had BPD? I'm not sure if that was confirmed or not but I think that could probably explain some of the behaviors. I do like the fact that he was struggling with changing but it felt unfair that all of the TomJake issues fell on him while Tom just made things more difficult by lying to him and ghosting him

I think it would've been nice if Connor and Ally had the granddaughter/grandfather dynamic instead of Jake and Connor. Jake already has Miriam and it would've added to their parallels

Also there was a missed opportunity for a James/Fiore dynamic considering they were both antagonists at one point. Considering James thought that Yul was redeemable I'm sure he could've extended that to Fiore

Yellow Team and Cyan Team were fine to watch. Maybe an unpopular opinion(?) but I didn't mind Aiden, would've been nice if he actually had things to do besides being Tom's support buddy and relearning the same lesson he learned in S2 though

Aleconnor bromance was pretty nice in the pre-merge, got a bit weird when Connor came back and they had more love triangle stuff + communication issues but i think it ended alright

Not the biggest fan of when a character tries to prioritize "morals" and "not voting out their friends" over the competition. And yes I know Rosa is in the favorite tier but this move wasn't used to antagonize one of the other characters in the game. Ellie did far worse things in S1 than vote out an ally who made it clear that she would choose someone outside of the alliance over her allies

Tess would've been in the "Like" tier but some of her fans that I've encountered got on my nerves which is why she's in the "Mixed Opinions but still Like" tier instead

Riya came off as cartoonishly evil so at some point I stopped taking her seriously as a character, the ending didn't make much sense why would you go back to the guy who stated multiple times that he wanted nothing to do with you?

I do feel like Jake and Ally could've been better written (actually a lot of characters could've been tbh) but I didn't mind it too much. It made decent background noise while I worked on other things lol

Edit: Some additional notes

The way Trevek was written in the pre-merge made me think that they were going to grow distant and find new people so I was kinda surprised that they turned it around and had them be a couple instead

I think the two work better as a one-dimensional good cop/bad cup duo, neither of the two really needed that much depth. I was neutral to the staff side plot
