Wedding! Lieuyă and a ref sheet of Yōuyă :')

Also idk if anyone cares but here's some headcanons I have for the Lieutenant 👁👄👁

• His name is Jian 健 which means strong and healthy

• Yōuyă usually calls him Ji or Lieu (she also teasingly calls him catgator too, ya know... like the catfish-alligator hybrid thing from AtLA, cuz the smiliarites of his mustache & the animal's barbel whiskers. They also use normal pet names for each other too, like: dear, sweetie, etc 👉👈

• He's a Capricorn, born January 7th, 128 AG

• Age 42 in Book 1; 43 in Book 2 & 3; 46 by Book 4

• He stands at 6'2 (188 cm)

• He's a canon nonbender, but I see him being a mix of water tribe & earth kingdom ethnicities (and maybe even some fire nation 🤔)

Did someone say they wanted more Lieuyă?👀 No? Ah, well okay... this is awkward.

If you wanted a story behind this drawing, I don't have one. Besides for the sake of fluff I guess...

Anyway here's some more stuff about them!

They first met pre-Book 1 at ages 20 & 37 & became good friends despite their age difference. After 2-3 years Yōuyă realized she caught the feelios😳 (but felt deceitful that she was lying about who she was). They had a big falling out in the Book 1 finale, cuz she finally told everyone (specifically Lieu) that she was a firebender oh no :o and with everything that happened, especially what Amon did to Lieu, umm... he didn't take the news very well, then goes to jail. Yōu tried explaining herself to no avail, Lieu wanted nothing to do with her anymore... or so he said!

That wasn't quite the truth tho, he was just heartbroken & felt betrayed💔 They didn't see or speak to eachother for the 4 years between Books 1-4, but constantly thought of eachother tho neither would admit it.

In the Book 4 finale during Kuvira's attack Yōu helps with the evacuations, particularly the prisoners (because you know, she wanted to make sure Lieu was safe 🥺). She gets injured and the thought of losing her for good this time (& sacrificing herself to protect him) made him finally acknowledge his suppressed feelings for her. They apologized & forgave one another for all the things they said/didn't say for the past 4 years, then became romantically involved and Yōu helped with his eventual release from prison.

Wow that was super cheesy but hey, it ain't easy being cheesy😔🤦‍♂️

Xiao Jūn from gardenyomi on Insta and Yōuyă in Books 1-3 🔥👄🔥

Xiao's pose was pretty easy & natural to draw, but Yōu's was just... idk it was really really bad in the initial sketch... I had to change it multiple times before deciding to go with this one 😖

This is my first attempt at painting fire 🔥...wow...

I used the same color for the fire as her eyes to help balance the image out. I probs should've made it more simple ike the emoji to save time tho :') I'm also gonna keep the colors flat because shading it, especially with the glow of the fire, would take longer than I'm willing to do and I ain't about that life 😬🙅 oh and don't look too close at the hand the flame's supposedly coming out of... it's a wee bit wonky 🤏...

I'm super proud of how this one came out. From the look on her face to her hand to how she has her leg propped up 😩🙌👌😤 almost looks like she's modeling or somethin..... and now I just realized that the ring around her head looks like a halo from an old Renaissance painting, idk what I was thinking 😂

When you just want to practice a little anatomy and end up completely finishing a drawing 🙂 (except for an actual background, I’m not a miracle worker -_-;)

Not much to say about this except that it’s Yōuyǎ in a swimsuit 🤓 it looks kinda like lingerie with the shear bits, tho that’s not what I had in mind… also idk why she’s blushing either, probs embarrassed that a certain someone might be eyeing her… or maybe she’s the one looking at someone else 👀😳 bruh i have no idea anymore…

Idk why I chose this bg I just didn’t want to leave another drawing bg blank again sooo yeah I just used a free one I found on picsart….

I wanted to post this like a day or two ago but felt like it was so plain and boring… So I decided to make another little reference thingy, now featuring Equalist!Yōuyă during book 1🙃 Here’s some info about her equalist past that I just copy & pasted from my notes ;“) ▪︎She heard of Amon and the Equalists not long after she moved to the city (though she wouldn’t see him in person til a year or two later). ▪︎Yōuyǎ met them during a late night get together/meeting at a small bar (18-20 year olds are welcomed but aren’t served alcohol) where she was spending a sleepless night at. ▪︎She found herself going back to hear his speeches and tho a bender herself (unknown to everyone else), she agreed with him. ▪︎At that point Yōuyǎ assumed that when Amon spoke of equality he meant they would go about it peacefully: protesting, challenging the government/council, bringing awareness, etc.

When Amon finally made his intentions know and revealed his ‘ability’ to everyone, Yōuyǎ was shocked and understandably terrified. She was horrified of what the Equalists, a group she fought for and believed in for so lonf, started to become. She was also too scared to leave tho… since she would have to reveal she herself as a bender to a group of anti-benders… She was also just as shocked as everyone when it turned out Amon was using bloodbending to take the bendings of others away. ~The end :”“’)) /I’ll try to fix the story later to make it make sense 😔👉👈/ //Drawn by me, references used for the uniform cuz I forgot what it looked like, bg template by glorycolor on DeviantART//

Anywaaay here’s my Legend of Korra OC Yōuyă during pretty much the entirety of the show! I probs forgot something but idk couldn’t think of anything else to add…

So which of these looks do you like the most?🤔 For me personally, I’ll always have a soft spot for her original outfit & hairdo for books 1-3, but now the book 4 look is really starting to grow on me. Oh and I totally didn’t just reuse the same shoes for both either 👁👄👁

Also I was originally going to give this a blank bg but decided to add lines kinda like a height chart, even tho I wasn’t comparing her to anyone… yet 😳😉

As said in my story earlier, I completely forgot about this 😣 but that ended up working out for the better. Her hair in the original one wasn’t consistent with how I had been drawing it so yeeeaah, had to adjust it a bit (and a few details of her clothes as well)

Yōuyǎ’s formal look for books 1-3. She wears it at Korra’s gala in “The Voice in the Night” & Varrik’s mover debut during “Night of a Thousand Stars” (and maybe the last episode of book 3? idk).

A little something I made while working on somethin’ else. Idk what age Yōuyǎ is in this probs around 10-13 (I suck at differentiating ages of kids 😓). She’s wearing the Fire Nation International Academy for Young Women uniform created by @gardenyomi__ !!

This is what I’ve been working on for almost 3 weeks now. I’m glad I made myself finish this because for a few days I a row I kept making excuses to not work on it even though I really wanted to, idk man ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Anyway this is my LoK OC Yōuyǎ, I created her not long after Korra first premiered (I more or less kept her physical appearance the same just changing her outfit designs). (known as Mìmì for the majority of her life in the city, err well until the finale of Book 1). She was born and raised in Shu Jing of the Fire Nation. She had a pretty normal and happy childhood until sometime around age 8/9 when her father died. Her mother was devastated, never the same after it and became withdrawn from everyone including her daughter. Yōuyǎ was very young at the time and didn’t quite understand or know how to handle it. She started to rebel from her mom, not that the latter did much to stop it, which caused them to fight a lot.

Yearning for something new, when she turned 18 she decided to leave the only place she’d ever known and travel to the United Republic. There she will make some pretty questionable choices but also meet many different and interesting people. Some who she would befriend and others make enemies with, hell she might even find love there…who knooows…? 👀 The rest of her info will be put on my DA when I post it there.
