You deserve better than being treated as a stereotype, or as the role someone expects you to perform socially. You don’t have to submit and conform to the unrealistic expectations someone has, to become the version they created in their heads. You shouldn’t have to pretend to get approval. You don’t have to be a perfect person, a trophy partner, the best student of all, or the most hardworking employee who never gets tired. Or sick. Or uncomfortable.

You don’t have to “just take it and move on”. If you’re not comfortable with the way you’re being treated because it feels someone is treating more as an object than as a person, then you should communicate it to them, set boundaries, talk to other people around you about this so you don’t feel isolated. And if it doesn’t work, it’s okay to not want to be around someone who only wants to use you to inflate their own ego. It’s not a bad thing to stand up for yourself and communicate these things. It’s not a bad thing to live your own life, even if other people can’t handle the disappointment of you turning out to be your own person instead of the person who would best benefit them and serve their every whim. You’re not responsible for creating this idea of you, they are.
