“His child... I doubt she did anything. She was five, maybe. It... it left me a wreck for quite a long time.”

animated animal villains who are not the main antagonist but are a force of nature in their own right who elevate the film to a new level and leave protagonists quaking has definitely gotta be one of my new favourite genres

one of the most important things, perhaps the most important thing I have learned in my life is that nice people can fuck each other up in monstrous ways. people can be bone deep kind and loving and self reflective and still lash out under pressure. people can be earnestly neighbourly and charitable and hospitable and generous and still find themselves in situations where they become selfish. people can be well meaning and easygoing and gregarious and hold deep seated opinions that turn them into vicious little bullies under the right conditions. nobody is just one thing, and nobody stays one way. every person is a kaleidoscope and they will surprise you. you will surprise yourself. it's not a warning and it's not a judgement and it's not an excuse, and it's certainly not a reason to stop trying or to stop trusting. it is just a fact.

bit of a vent below to not let these feelings fester any further, feel free to ignore

As a 30 something year old who made most of her friends through this hellsite, and obviously had to go through more than a handful of bad apples, it’s particularly hurtful when you’re not even given an explanation before someone shuts you out. 

Things seem peachy, not a sign on behalf of your friend that there’s anything wrong, and suddenly, you’re blocked on everything with no reason given, not even a “hey I’m sick of your shit lol bye”. After years and years of sharing not just fandom bullshit, but actual feelings, being there for each other, showing genuine support and love - they might even tell you how happy it makes them you’re still friends, even after long months of not talking to each other because life gets in the way - after all of that and then some, you’re not even an afterthought. You’re that easily removed.

And that’s what gets me. Not so much losing a friend - it happens! and it’s painful and shitty and sometimes a growing pain - but the not being told at least why. Not even getting the smallest of courtesies, of using words like an adult and explaining why they don’t want you in their life anymore. And I get it, it’s so easy to do in the era of block buttons! And you know, I don’t even blame you if the person you’re cutting out of your life is really toxic, but then again, if one of the last few times you’ve talked went like “hey I really miss you and love you friend”, “yeah I miss you too man, I’m here for you” MAYBE then you could drop a line or two explaining why you’re dipping just like that! You know, that’s an idea!

I’m not even sure where I’m going with this, bar saying “don’t do this particular shitty thing”. But just in case the person reading this is that friend (and you know who you are) then know this; I hope you’re happy. I hope what you did is good for you. I hope that it was worth it. 

I hope you know that you hurt me. 

And I hope that hurts you too.

For anyone wanting to know where the gif with demo and sniper comes from, it’s a GREAT two episode series called Requiem for a Pizza. It’s top tier comedy with a canon gay couple and I can’t recommend it enough.
