Holy shit, I didn't even think about that.
We've seen that Patton hates getting angry and overwhelmed, hell, in redux he literally turns into a giant frog because of it.
He probably thought he didn't deserve to be angry and took most of that away too.
And just-
On a completely different note, imagine orange is more alternative/eboy and it drives Virgil up the wall because "he's not a real emo!"
Also, remember how in the Past self video Patton was the one who Virgil made the emo Era?
Just saying.
Okay, so this has been in my head for a while now, but Virgil is Pattons kid.
Yes, I know, he's fight or flight, blah, blah, blah-
Hear me out.
Fear is an emotion and usually its in small controlled doses in minor situations.
Fight or flight is a latent primal response that humans only really experience in extremely stressful situations.
Typically, for the "average human", it wouldn't be necessary to have a trait dedicated to just fight or flight.
Unless you went through being the one of the "odd ones out".
Let's see, for Thomas that would be theater kid, gay, and nerdy. Which used to be a death sentence in school.
Now that I've a a premise, let me get to the good part.
Fear is an emotion. Patton obviously still experiences it as we've seen before with creepy crawly death dealers. However, other than that, he doesn't react in fear often. Even with Remus, Patton seems more uncomfortable than afraid, whereas Virgil is constantly on guard the entire time.
Thomas has mentioned before that Virgil came in around junior high and high school, which means that his fight or flight wasn't personified until he started figuring himself out.
Now this is an extremely scary time for any preteen and teenager, which brings up my concept. (Not really a theory cause i don't think that's how it worked out, but nevertheless)
I think that fear as an emotion may have gotten to strong for Patton during this time and as a result he had a split of his own. Like Roman and Remus. Except he didn't split completely in half, he just got rid of what was causing him issues as a way to repress.
Like creating a kid from one of his emotions.
It does sound kinda screwed up, but stick with me.
At first, that split was just a little extra fear that slowly became a problem over time, eventually evolving into who we know today as anxiety.
Obviously, something happened where Virgil went to the dark sides and everything happened, but it would either make Pattons father son insistence sweet or sad. Or both
The effort to include Virgil in their FamILY, the son themed nicknames, the forceful declaration that Virgil isn't a bad guy and he's just misunderstood. They all sound like a dad who screwed up and-
FUCK IM GOING TO CRY

Imagine this-
The sides aren't separated over the years due to "positive" and "negative" influence like Thomas has presented to us, but by left brain and right brain.
Patton, Roman, and Remus are the right brain.
Logan, Janus, and Virgil are the left.
Imagine a Patton who knew one creativity and then knew two, and accepted them both because he didn't have anyone else and he loves both his weird sons.
Imagine a Logan who developed beside Virgil and Janus and can understands social situations a little better.
Imagine a Roman who doesn't feel like he has to be the good twin and indulges his darker thoughts a little more than ours.
Imagine a Remus who's a little more reserved because he's not carrying the entire burden of being the bad twin.
Imagine a Virgil who's more practical and actually gets a long with Janus. A Virgil who does go overboard sometimes, but that's okay because he did it with good reason.
Imagine a Janus who's rarely ever sarcastic because he doesn't need to be, he doesn't need to hide the pain of being the bad guy.
I just love the idea of the power placements flipping in the mind palace, because depending on how you separate three to three, depends on how they might interact.

Something absolutely amazing has happened in a case of sheer generational boomer irony.
I work in an environment that has a lot of older people as their workers, specifically boomers.
Recently, we had ADA come through and revamp some things and correct them in order for anyone with a physical disability to be able to move around our workplace easier.
My coworker was not happy about this.
She constantly made several comments that rubbed me the wrong way, but always said something along the lines of "I'm not trying to be mean but-" in order to cover her ass.
There were so many negative comments about how pointless the revamp was and how it wasn't necessary, ect. It was very obvious that she thought people with disabilities did not have a place in our workplace.
Recently, we've also had to hire a new coworker as well. Would you like to know someone cool about her?
She's physically disabled, enough so to the point where she has issues doing some things.
When I tell you that pure, unadulterated glee lit me up from the inside out at the irony of the situation, I'm not lying. Not only that, but our new coworker is incredibly sweet and is awesome at helping me do certain parts of our jobs more easily.
It's like all those comments from awhile back are now hitting my boomer coworker in the face. She trying to cover her tracks, act nice, and emphasize just how "accommodating" we are.
However, she's just digging herself a deeper hole because this woman doesn't know how to stop talking for the life of her.
The main thing about this is my boomer coworkers ablism is bitting her in the ass and I am living for it.

Tbh, fanfiction and spite against English teachers who put people down.
I don't know how, but Virgils character development looks exactly like how you learn to cope with anxiety. Or at least from my own personal experience.
At first he's over bearing and mean. He rejects every idea Roman has, insults Patton because feelings are scary, and he and Logan butt heads because Logic and Anxiety don't mix well.
Then he starts to warm up to them. The same way someone who's starting to get a feel for their anxiety feels. He debated with Logan and realizes that he isn't out to hurt, just reason. He bonds with Patton and is shown that repression is worse than letting yourself feel. And he bonds with Roman over various things and is shown how good creativity can be.
Then he gets accepted and Thomas acknowledges that he is important. And Virgil starts backing off, but not ducking out.
He's still panics, he still worries, but it's less intense because he knows the others are there to help.
And it's really prevalent in the newest sander sides video.
Virgil never once worries over if he made the right choice or not. He knows that what he's presenting that Roman may not like. And you can't tell me that Virgil right after AA would have been this calm.
Then he tells Roman a story and indulges in his need for an escape and even physically prevents himself from ruining it for Roman, which is an immense thing because Virgil hates holding things back like that. He even went as far as to cover his mouth, which is reminiscent of how Janus keeps secrets from Thomas.
Virgil hasn't just been accepted by the sides and Thomas.
Virgil has accepted himself, which is the most difficult step in working with your own anxiety.

So, I finally figured out why most people think Jason is angry at Tim.
And that is because of the Batman Arkham video games series. Specifically, the third game, The Arkham Knight.
In Arkham Knight, the Joker is dead and Scarecrow is now trying to take over Gotham. He does this with the help of The Arkham Knight, the character the game is named after and centered around.
The Arkham Knight is Jason Todd, and in this universe, he died in a completely different way than he does in other media, but that's another post.
In the game, when Batman finds out The Knight is Jason, Jason himself has a whole speech about Bruce replacing him.
The reason they make this the focus instead of his anger at the Joker, is because, as I previously mentioned, in this world, the Joker is dead. They can't use his anger at the Joker being alive in this world, so instead, they center his anger around Time Drake and the fact that he's Robin now.
The reason why nobody realizes the real reason Jason went after Bruce, is because in the only wide spread media he's in, completely misrepresents his story.

I am seeing so many posts of Neil Gaiman answering symbolism asks, and it's kind of funny?
Some people are looking for the barest hints of foreshadowing or symbolism in every single frame of Good Omens and I hate to tell them, but a common theme for both Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett is having no meaning what so ever.
I mean that quite literally by the way.
Yes, some books are very heavy handed with the symbolism, but not all.
Some of the stuff is there because it's funny, or because it just makes sense.
Or, it's there because it's a reference and that's it.
You'll notice that there are dozens of Doctor Who references because David Tennant played the Doctor and that's it.
The book itself is quoted by line and that's because the show is about it, and no other reason.
One of them (I can't remember who, but I think it's Pratchett) had a character named Carrot/Karrot and his hair was bright red, but that wasn't why he was named as such. That was just his name, but it's kind of funny.
It's like watching an English teacher try and figure out why the author made the curtains red when that's just their favorite color.

Crowely and Aziraphales relationship is so normal.
I really mean that.
"But they're a demon and an Angel!"
Yeah, but that's secondary. Those are their jobs and technically they're not even good at them.
But their relationship, from "ememies" to acquaintances to friends to what they are now, was so normal.
None of it was forced. The ending wasn't awkward, even if it was sad.
AND IT WASNT SEXUALIZED!!!
I cannot begin to explain how happy I was about that. Their entire relationship is about love and that is it so far, and that makes me so fucking happy.
And there was one more thing that made me happy and something I saw before the other people who were watching it with me.
Their progression from platonic to romantic was foreshadowed with Nina and Maggie's relationship. It's not a prefect reflection, but you can certainly see how the personalities overlap.
I don't know if this was ever the final intention for Crowely and Aziraphale, but I am truly happy with how the entire thing was approached and treated.
I hope that Crowely and Aziraphale eventually get their happily ever after.
Thank you so much Neil Gaiman.
