collection of useful things tumblr has taught me:
even if you can't fall asleep, laying down with your eyes closed will still rest your body
you don't have to brush your teeth standing up
you don't have to do any chore standing up, from dishes to showering
you don't have to shower with the lights on
if you can't brush your teeth, flossing and a tongue scraper gets rid of plaque and bad breath
if you can't do that, mouthwash kills a lot of bacteria
eating "unhealthy" food is better than eating no food
you can make the same meal everyday for however long you still want it
some pills come in syrups or chewables if you can't swallow them
kids nutritional shakes can be a quick way to get fuel if you can't eat/don't have time
if walking hurts/exhausts you on a regular basis, canes and rollers are for you, no matter how young you are
we have free will—if doing something "out of the ordinary" makes life easier for you, do it
if you have even a dollar to spare, please consider donating to Alaikum's family.
they're a large family at only 10% of their goal to evacuate, and could use any help you can give!!

The message of the day:
"You are strong simply by existing, your growth and survival are miraculous."
Sometimes it can be easy to attribute strength to constant pressure, progress, and challenges. But to stand your ground is strong, letting yourself rest is strong, and allowing yourself to feel is strong. Sometimes strength is pushing through concrete, sometimes it's bending in the wind, and others it is waiting out a storm. You are strong, especially in the moments you don't feel it.

Checking in after a long semester
Hello Lovelies,
I hope you all have been doing okay, I am happy to say I am free from my latest semester of university and look forward to being more active on my blog. Personally, I have decided to focus on my self-worth and confidence this summer as I feel that this is a main blockage in my recovery journey. I plan on sharing affirmations and positivity as usual and am excited to connect with everybody and maybe provide a bit of positivity to your day.

Not every day has to bring great progress, achievements, healing or change. Some days are meant for you to rest, to take a break from all the hard work you have been doing, to be extra gentle with yourself. Some days are simply meant to honour your existence. These days are just as important, my love. They provide you with the opportunity to process all of the transformation you have been through and prepare you for everything that is yet to come. Just like the ocean you will experience strong, crashing waves one day and peaceful stillness another day - it is all about balance.

This is your daily reminder to not be ashamed of making your life easy for yourself.
Cut your food into small pieces, make the font size 30 on your e book, use straws to drink, get a pen that’s comfortable to hold, take more naps, walk slowly, eat another cookie, buy velcro shoes, re-watch the part you couldn’t understand the first time, write things on your hands so you don’t forget it… whatever you want and/or need
Don’t let anyone tell you how you should be doing things. We don’t need to prove each other anything

This is your sign to stop for a minute and breathe. Take one big deep slow breath. Look out of the window, watch nature moving through season with calm, patience and steadiness. All is good, breathe again.

something you may need to hear today:
if you’re young and you have a chronic illness, you are most likely in a different stage of life than your friends. Not a better or worse one, just a different one, and that is okay.

just a friendly reminder that you don't deserve pain. sometimes we think we deserve to be hurt and sad, but that's not true. there is no reason to hold on to our pain or justify it. we shouldn't be hard on ourselves. we are worth healing.

One of my favorite things I was told in recovery:
There is strength in your softness
Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it.”

A message as we reach toward the midpoint of the semester
It's okay to be tired
Take a deep breath, you're doing so well
Your grades don't define you
Your best doesn't mean pushing yourself to burn out
Your GPA doesn't define you
I believe in you
Take time to care for yourself, acedemics are temporary you have your brain and body forever.
You are strong, so be strong enough to be kind to yourself

This 10000% this is why i advocate so much for sick days applying to mental health
Repeat after me: The brain is an organ and mental illnesses are illnesses of that organ.
