In my novel, I exposed racism, sexism and audism. English isn’t my first language, so mistakes will be made...yeah, pity my editors. They're probably pulling out their hair... whatever hair they have left.

Text
I took in two addicts, one at a time, and both times it ended badly for me. Keeping peace and harmony in your own safe space depends on their sobriety. When they’re not sober, they bring chaos—or really, chaos just follows them into my home and everywhere else. When things get chaotic, the only option is to ask them to leave. One of them refused, wrapped her hand around my throat, and my Nest camera caught it all. She tried to argue, “I’m staying—you have to give me 30 days’ notice.” So, I showed the police the footage. They gave her two options: leave within two hours or get arrested on the spot. She left but kept stirring up chaos in Washington, Nebraska, and most recently in Breckenridge, Colorado. The other guest swore their first DUI was a mistake, but then they racked up a second one out west. For these addicts, the only real fix is to stop blaming others, look within, and work the 12 steps.
