“leader mike is back in s5” everyone is so happy about it but aren’t talking about what it means. why mike lost himself in the first place? he started dating el and pretended he’s someone he’s not. that’s why so many people dislike him in those seasons. and now he’s back for the final season and people really think he would still be with el?? the only way he accepts his true self and becoming the leader he was meant to be is if him and el break up and he stops pretending. don’t forget who called him the leader, the heart. that was WILL. the same way mike gives will the courage to fight on, will reminds mike who he is. he makes him feel needed and like the hero he wants to be. leader mike is happening and so is byler.

do people really think they’re gonna kill off will? the duffers want to tell the best story. they only kill off characters that it makes sense for the progression of the story. they don’t go around “oh who can we kill to make it most painful for the viewers?” that’s not how storytelling works. first and foremost they have a story to tell and characters death only comes second.

What if both Mike and Will have cried themselves to sleep because of their feelings for each another especially when not even knowing that their feelings are reciprocated? When Will told Mike "sometimes I think it is just scary to open up like that... to say how you really feel... especially to people you care about the most because what if they don't like the truth?" and Mike nodded in agreement, in understanding (and about to say something right after he nodded before they got interrupted):

It is clear this scene is about their feelings for each other. And hints at both being scared of the other not liking the truth.

They both think it is not reciprocated when it is and how much have they suffered in silence because of this? How many nights awake thinking about the other? Scared of their feelings given that they have been surrounded by homophobia their whole lives and living in the 80s? Mike, with his internalized homophobia feeling having a girlfriend is what he should do and not what he wants to do. That he has to perform a role, be someone he is not. We know he is shown to have feelings for Will since he was very young, like with the Snowball Dance scene as he looked at Will dance with the girl. How many times did he push those thoughts away? Confused and scared of what they could mean because he has lived in a small town surrounded by people telling him those feelings are wrong? For how many years has he tried to push those thoughts to the back of his mind? And Will, not even thinking Mike liking him back is a possibility and still believing Mike loves El romantically when both of those things are so far from the truth. I don't think the happiness and joy they will feel when they finally are aware of how the other feels and that it is reciprocated can be expressed with words. It is going to be so beautiful and I am going to be a fucking emotional wreck.

OMG I need season 5 now! I need to see them both get their happy ending. They deserve all the happiness in the world. I need to see them happy and finally loving who they truly are in the face of prejudice. I don't know if we will get that fully in season 5 or if we will get hints to self discovery and self acceptance by the end of the series. I really hope we get to see it either way.

i don’t like when people say “if byler isn’t endgame it’s gonna be so embarrassing for us”. will is literally canonically in love with mike, one half of the ship is already canon, it’s not CRAZY to think they can end up together. not to mention all the queer coding of mike and all the signs and proofs. it’s all there on purpose, they were written like that and whether or not they’re endgame WE are right here.
