Closed? That can’t be right. He hadn’t had a gas leak. Donnie’s sensors would’ve warned him. He took good care of his shop! He was just there yesterday!

“That can’t,” he mumbled. Something was wrong, it had to be. Maybe he’d taken a harder hit to his head than he thought. The question snapped him out of his attempt to organize his thought. His disguise. Right, he was still wearing it. Had he even made it home the day before?

He looked at the other wearily. The world had changed over the years, but the disguise still made it a lot easier for people to be around him. He tried to examine the other other through the throbbing again…. Fully covered by that costume. It seemed really bulky. Was he also trying to hide something? He took a second to answer, weighing his options as best he could.

“Yes,” he finally replied. “People tend to freak out a lot more when they see me without it.”

Mikey shook his head and immediately regretted the action as the pounding got worse. He really didn’t want to fight here. He could tell this guy was a New York local. That accent was clear. From what he could see, the other was wearing some kind of of armor. A vigilante? Someone dangerous? A wave of nausea washed over him. God he hoped his didn’t have a concussion.

“Well, for starters, this isn’t a bank,” he pointed at the door he’d been trying to get open. It was his shop. His alley way. Even through the pounding in his head he knew that. “It’s my shop. I’m just trying to get in the back.” He rubbed his head. He didn’t know if the other would believe him.

NIGHTWATCHER SQUINTED THROUGH his visor, hazels narrowing in on the figure in the shadows -- from here, he could only see the outline of baggy clothing, which made his suspicions grow even further. Normally, people in New York wearing disguises and trying to break into a building didn't have good intentions. And if this kid's intent was to rob or harm someone, Night knew he couldn't just let it slide.

" WHAT'RE YOU TRYNA do, kid ? " Despite having a voice changing device underneath the helmet, his city accent was still as obvious as day. " Y'look awfully SUSPICIOUS, out here in da' dark by ya'self. How do I know you ain't some bank robba' or serial killa' or somethin' ? "

Mikey took in the information on her. Abilities huh? He knew someone who’d gone through that. He smiled. “I get it. I had a friend who went through something similar a long time ago. She helps out at my shop. You’re welcome to come by anytime, she might be able to help,” he offered, though he wasn’t sure how much April could do depending on what the abilities are. Still he knew how much having a place to go can mean to someone who has the need to hide.

Mikey smiled when she laughed. He’d been right. He’d startled her and she was scared. Doesn’t make the stabbing hurt any less, but at least he didn’t have to fight with an injured hand. He gave her a smile.

“Ah don’t worry,” he waved it off. “I get a cool new battle scar out of it and my shops not far so I can clean it up.” He should probably go to see Donnie too. Otherwise his brother will flip if he finds out on his own or gets an infection. Regardless he didn’t want to remove the knife until he got back to the shop. “Besides, I can be pretty intimidating,” he said with a fake tough guy accent, puffing out his chest in a fake bravado gesture.
