Why business?

Why do business seem to be a vital role for society and their prosperity?

This is an advice I have been given today, 

"many things from this world which we see now, are the result of someone's effort to produce something through business.”

That’s right. Your workplaces, your clothes, houses, every things in your hands now, are distributed from manufacturers that have been run by business.

It plays a big part, that's why I think it's a great method to find prosperity (rizq) from Allah. I have been wondering for God's knows when, about this hadits of my Prophet. He said that Allah will open up 10 doors for prosperity, and all 9 of them are opened through merchant (business). So, why business? The innocent me at that time, not knowing what the worlds are playing, just wondering the same questions over years. Now, I do know, not much of the answer but I have the hang of it.

 And the saying continue..

"from business we have learnt how to produce something, we make a system, a product from nonexistence then come into existence. After it expands, we need more human resources so it will open up new workplace for people. Then we learn to fulfill their needs, their privileges, we eventually know what's important for people and what needs they wish for us to help them fulfill. And then, before we know it, the efforts we make from business, nourish it with good quality seeds and operations, no cheating or any black hat technique only to gain profit alone..Everyone feels that we have run a good business. Our needs meet.”

Now, we shouldn't purpose only to gain profit, but to keep people's need at hand, we are shouldering such a great responsibility. A good business doesn’t look up at profit, but for the prosperity of everyone.

Because prosperity will not come from gaining a profit, but from the work of everybody. When everyone's needs are disrupted or they can't work well, we couldn't make any good profit from it. It will only backfiring us, that's why everyone's needs should come first.

We know now that people need something from working with us, and we need to help them get their needs. We need to be aware of public situation, of their trends, of global trends, of any situation that may come to disrupt our stability. So, gain your knowledge, analyze and think of the solution. 

Prepare for the upcoming battle. We have to be knowledgeable enough so that we can fulfill the responsibility for our future. Therefore, expand our understanding and learn deeply in every moments.

It's not only to prepare for the continuity of the business, but also to feel people's needs and behavior in a different level, we can open up a new living system. Once we consider there's a new opportunity, we should know what's best for everyone. By sharpening our awareness we can form a plan, a new vision that truly bring people's need into consideration. The realization of it aren't based on our efforts alone, but we will need other business to work together.

That’s what business has done for everyone, for society. Still, what I have explained here is just a frame and an opinion that elaborated from an experienced businessman that I am inspiring on.

7 Tips to Pass TOEFL ITP

TOEFL is a common test for foreign speaker to measure their capability of English literacy and how well they can use the language and on what level. TOEFL has two kind of test, TOEFL ITP and iBT. Their differences lies in their purposes and their measurement. TOEFL ITP measures your listening, grammar, and reading competencies in an academic setting. So TOEFL ITP has purposes only to be used for academic requirements. On the contrary, TOEFL iBT can be used for any purposes like academic and professional and it adds speaking and writing test.

Just this month, I have taken the TOEFL ITP test for the first time. I want to share some things I have learnt when successfully reached my own target:

1.  The listening part are pronounced in a speed I still couldn't hear clearly. 

To overcome this, you need to improve listening on advanced English listening section from CD, radio, video, talk show, lectures, etc. Proceed from average speed to fast. Capture the meaning and get used. It is actually an easy question and answer but the difficulty lies on whether you can precisely listen and picture the actual condition it tells despite the variation of dialects and tone of speaking

2. Be careful when you are looking on the answer sheet.

Remember the number of question you are in and carefully search the multiple choices based on the number of question. Don't miss the right answer on wrong place. Before the listening begin for the next question, put your attention to the multiple choices of the next number.

3. Get used in listening many academic setting/lectures on various disciplines. 

I could hear more clearly only in the field I really mastered in, such as environment and health. I am still lacking in politics, tech, and method-explained lectures. So you can begin by watching international news about global issues, listening podcasts or download some CD about advanced English listening practices.

4. Structure and written, you need to study more on grammar and its various uses. 

To harness your sensitivity towards each word on its rightful position and uses I should practice my writing. I could only think ways, by noting down lectures or begin blogging. If you’re not that really into writing, try your capability by answering questions in English, such as in Quora or any other platform. I also recommend an application called Knudge.me. I found it really useful because it has easy explanation and interesting learning method.

5. On reading comprehension, time is limited. 

You only have 1 minute to solve one question excluding time needed to read the text. The text is around 3 paragraphs and 30 lines. It is still understandable and not quite difficult because I can still find the main topic and the interesting details. The problem lies on the time. To successfully read and understand the text completely you need to read it not more than 5 minutes. Let’s begin the calculation..

In one section consist of 50 questions, there are 6 passages of texts so it would be 30 minutes to understand deeply. But after that, you only have 25 minutes to solve the 50 questions. But, not all 50 questions required deep analysis of the text, around 3 of 8 questions from 1 passage of text are questions regarding word meaning and its synonym. If you can effectively use the 5 minutes to understand the text, you can solve 3 questions in 30 seconds. So, if that is so happened, you have completed the time to solve 18 questions in 6 minutes. You still have around 19 minutes to solve 32 questions.

6. Another skill needed to win this reading section is by remembering the text. 

After you have successfully read the text, you have to remember all of it to solve 8 questions later. So if you need time to carefully read the text again, save 2 minutes on the divided time of 5 minutes. So your initial reading time for one passage is not 5 minutes but 3 minutes and another 2 minutes can be used to reread the text later.

The questions mainly ask about:

·         Main topic of the passage

·         Word x in line x has its closest meaning to…

·         Word x in line x can be referred to..

·         The statement of …indicate that..

·         Why this event happened… (with another answers that are not exactly written on the text)

·         The following statement is true based on the passage, EXCEPT..

·         Which one of the following statement is true based on the text?

7.  Last reminder, because time is limited so you need to be certain of your answer right away and fill in the answer sheet. 

Because it is a PBT (Paper Based Test), I recommend the technique when you're filling the alphabet to begin with marking the alphabet in the center and then circle it to its perimeter. Remember, you've to treasure the time so minimize your mistakes in time taken to erase a wrong answer or improper marking and fill again the best answer.

Carrier advice delivered by Ashley Stahl, a career coach, about how to unlock your true potential job position. Before I watched her video, I just didn't realise from where I should start to not be tangled and get some lead to the next career. Certainly, anyone who are now a campus leavers will need this advice because it felt like our brain was fuzzy and freezed on thinking clearly to find a way.

To find the right answer, I suggest you should provide time for yourself, a paper and a pen. Let your mind be at ease so no one could intervene. Then, ask these 3 questions as Ashley Stahl advised :

- What is I am good at?

- What do people tell me I am good at?

- What is holding me back?

Write your answer on the paper and do research on some job positions based on your list.

Note that, Ms. Stahl was informing us that our passion will not always follow our success in career. But, on who you are and your true capabilities. You may have interest and passionate about one field, but what you actually good at polished by your inner habit and character will get you success in a way or another. Passion is where you are interested in but may not as your career but it could be a great material or topic for your true potential job.

If you have something in mind and want to write it or deliver it into words but can't seem to flow smoothly, I would like to share one of the best playlist I've found in YouTube that may help you.

You see, as a writer and a bookworm I really enjoy having time reading and writing with all of my mind focused on the story I want to write. But it often happens when I can't give any single words fit to describe the topic. At that time, I would try to enhance my sense by sharpening my feeling.

You may have heard a saying "great work accompanied by heart"... That's really applied to me. How to invite the heart on the work I do? To create an honest statement and great stories represent our emotions and senses, I will try to listen to some heart-warming music that almost tears will come out. Each person also has different taste. As for me, music that can blooms my imagination and immerses my emotions into it are instrumental and classic. I often find my comfortable zone accompanied by chill-out music.

This "Ambient" channel I would like to introduce has been helping me to create ideas comfortably and offers range of different genre of music. It's really great as a backsong of your everyday life's stages.

It's when I begin this journey,

while the waiting time feels so boring, I'll glance at my room, a protective cell, and imagine there's a transparent glass outside my sight. Lights that refracted through the medium will vastly open the edge of the world. I would see another places that I am unable to count. Everytime I feel alone, I would budge the curtain and gaze upon the window. My eyes wander into the sky and the darkness, fill my emptiness with their penetrated rays. Then, I will take my phone and play my chill-out list while writing what my heart is telling me on a paper. My overflowing senses, fractions, details, tried to confide me with every conclusion it needs.

Now, it becomes my routine.

You, that will read this until the last sentence may have the same feeling with me and I pray that it will not stay longer.

If you're too tired, and hate being alone, but no one would make an effort for you, when you've bottled up inside and no one would ease the feeling. and wouldn't bother on hearing you stories, your sulking, upon your everyday's challenges and unexpected event. I know that you're too silent, that most of them would never notice something are going on inside you. They probably think that your feelings aren't important, even by yourself. Even if it's the situation, you still need those ears, not just your own ears. I am trying not to repress my feeling, raise my voice or at least stay connected with somebody. Your life aren't that dimmed, say you need help from them. Well, for me, just a simple ask of "how's your feeling today?", is already so much enough to set my sadness out.

For those that are not needed to be asked like that, consider that maybe someone near to you actually in need to be asked about their feelings. They deserve it and you'll be the one who change their life.

Self-satisfaction of your job

Some people may say the worthiness of something is intrigued by what society wants it. Worthiness is something only that person can acquire and achieve for them alone. Form of worthiness is different from each person to another person. So the one that can decide it is none other than ourselves. It may be the combination of many factors, priorities, objectives, conditions, productivity and others. As for me, worthiness is when our expectations are met by working there.

For example, my first priority besides the difficulty of the job is how the environment of the company is good or not. Then, will I be able to develop there and last, the balance between the responsibility and the salary. Worthiness is when I meet these condition : I can do the job, I feel comfortable, I can develop my skills, the salary is suitable with the responsibilities. Another good point is, workhour is sooo suitable for a housewife.

How to compare jobs?

Okay, let me tell a few of my experience when I develop this idea.

I have told myself that this is a crucial step in my life. I was having a happy life, I consider it, and before I always prepare of the harsh of the world. In order to see a right end from that kind of world, Allah always helps me to keep sane and makes Him a place to return to. I always miss the happiness of being close to Him. Today, I am stranded, I am alone to make a decision. My job, for example, I need to get better look to it. I have to explain myself every reason for every decision it will be. And here's my thought. There are some things that I want to consider them first as priority when choosing a job :

- objectives

- passion

- appropriateness

- risk

- cost effectiveness

My objective is always to give others what they need, knowledge and understanding for example. And then I need money to help my parents and my saving. In order to gain my objective, I need to get a job which payment exceeds my basic needs, parents, and saving. For what I have been calculated, at least I need around 500k per month for saving and it would be glad if I have more.

For passion, I don't accurately know what it means. I think passion is something when you act based on it, it will bring you satisfaction. Something you love to do and you do it with love. My love for seeking knowledge makes me like to give and share ideas and understanding for people. It would bring me good feelings when they use the knowledge I instilled to them for their goodness. My other passion is love to find new insight and come up with solution. Complex problems is like a tempting puzzle I'd love to reveal. I like doing research and find the solution and then managing it to be happened. I think profession such as researcher, teacher, or a mentor will be really suited with me. You also need to identify kinds of job that will suit you.

Appropriateness, when the environment of the workplace meet my rules and condition. My rules of working or to achieve highest result, the workplace need to meet my best expectation. I need to asks some questions :

- do the workers mostly consist of females? (cause I am a female)

- are there any office politics in there?

- no prejudice or any appropriate conduct from the worker

- accept diversity, no grouping, and good atmosphere

- discipline and lifting feeling

- the employer concern for workers and being transparent

- it is free to not get attached by other workers

- I can do whatever I want and they know how to make line.

Risk, some risk that need consideration :

- no males! (for me only)

- how far and accessible

- work hour

- facilities

- rules and pressure

- office politics

- stress and health issues

Cost effectiveness, the balance of the hardwork, salary, expanses, and saving. The usual problem of many workers are transportation cost and the need to meet office lifestyle. Be sure not to engage any unnecessary offer or follow that kind of lifestyles. Stay true to yourself and be confident of yourself. The important thing is for you to be able to do your highest productivity.

Those are some indicator I used by myself when struggling about finding the fit job. I'd like to share here so that everyone can have the benefit. Good luck!

Hey guys, I am currently challenging myself to work on a novel. I really love non-fiction, but it takes a lot more time than I imagined because of the reliable source and hypothesis that need a logical thinking. I am working also as a teacher, and it would be save much time to write fiction.

A blitz of sunlight suddenly caught up on my fingers. It lasts for just a ray of a moment from holes that nearly interrupted by another shadow.

Yet it luminates so brightly strong like the embodiment of life itself despite its tiny length and short time.

It rushed to complete its task and relayed it to its friend soon while dark has turned on. Every little things I aware that happened on my day, always end up on thinking of you. With a melancholy from ‘Salt of the sound-You made a way’, I am typing this short diary.

I just realized one truth. As my head had been mulled over thinking random things about you, and it just a honest and brief conclusion it end up.

You are a miracle itself.

You keep forcing yourself to enter my world without thinking that I also need time to feel each move, redefining the situation, saying my thought, and choosing what is the best.

Yet, how strange it is, your strong presence has been going through my inner fortress, pushed and catched me off guard.

At that time, there was no other attempt except surrender. Pass through my own common sense, straight with that conviction of yours. You have given me courage that I could also stand up from my last misery, and I found that I am being protected. It assured myself.

With that sense of belonging, you showered me with your sweet fragrance, your serious effort, and every honest statement. It just enough to save my little wary.

By the end of the day, I just saw you looking at me through that blitz of a sunshine, of how admiring life you have been fighted and you invited me to that life. The blitz of yours has struck my sense by its heavy load.

You are that miracle.

That shows me from an emptiness shell, to what lies of a true voyage.
