trans women in dire need of your help
(cat photo to grab attention. it's my friend's cat)
please don't scroll away. im going to be without phone service very soon. then rent is right around the corner. lots of bills. our truck is still broken down. we haven't been to a laundromat in two months. my prescriptions have been cancelled for my meds because i haven't been able to pay for them for too long. my girlfriend has been giving me hers but she's running out in a week too. even if i could afford it now id need to go to the doctor to get them re-prescribed, which means the truck needs fixing. at this rate we won't even make a single bill.

we've both been unemployed for over a year now, not for lack of trying. our last employed roommate lost his job a couple months ago. it's dire. it's so, so, so fucking dire.
please. if there's anything you can do to help, anything you can give... please. im sorry we have to do this so often. im sorry.
ill put my links here. im sorry. thank you.

So I recently rediscovered my love of old technology and like any good annoying bitch I immediately began questioning why and I've come to a conclusion
Modern technology feels more engineered to replace aspects of our lives rather than improve them, like it feels less and less like we're making life better and more making it easier for the sake of easiness
For example search engines were a great invention that helped vastly improve human life whereas LLMs feel like random tech shoved into anything that ends up completely redundant if you have a search engine and critical thinking skills
And as much as I love that people are able to use social media to build careers and find success, I miss when it was just about fucking around and having fun with your friends y'know
Anyway here's random pics of my favorite old phones

Thinking bout this again I think the one part they fumbled with HS2 that really could've saved the whole thing is characters (esp with candy bc meat is honestly ok in terms of character stuff), like that's my main issue with candy is stuff like outta nowhere evil Jane and everyone being melodramatic assholes to each other. Character writing is homestuck's strongest suit, like hs1's plot was not great I'm gonna be honest but because the characters were so amazing and just felt like real people you'd meet the story is amazing. If candy would've like given more explanations and altered character actions to be less assholish I feel like it would be leagues better
people are going to fucking slaughter me for this but ive been having a mental breakdown on discord because i dont feel like the june we're getting in hc:bc works in the fucking,,,context of the story
ive lost hope for beyond canon a while ago but i feel like there's so many wasted shots on the writers' part (why the fuck does terezi have meatjohns corpse when its decomposing on a metatextual level) and its leaving me with the sense that the buildup for june isnt going to be a natural evolution of johns character but instead a replacement with another
i dont like how little of the homestuck essence this has, the air of tragedy surrounding the original work has instead been replaced with teethrotting fluff even in the points where its supposed to be dark and i just i don't think they're doing the characters justice (and i don't just mean june i have my own criticisms against half the cast in candy and meat is just,,,bland)
dont get me wrong, we're going to get june, rejoice june enjoyers, i just feel like with the volume of fanworks we already have of her and fanart and whatever that we've already done far better than the official team could ever do and that scares me for future characterizations of this variation of the face of homestuck itself
i love homestuck, it helped me meet a lot of cool people and geniuenly changed me for the better. so i just hope im wrong and they actually make june good, instead of just having it be a sick play at appealing to the "woke" side of the fandom
please.

I'm giving the the benefit of the doubt on June but yea beyond canon does not feel like Homestuck, meat is pretty ok I don't hate it but candy feels like melodrama on top of melodrama, I esp hate how they try and recontextualize things from the original as tragic or traumatic when like no? We can clearly see it was pretty ok broski, like when they talk about sburb in the most recent update ofc it was traumatic in a lot of aspects with the death and destruction and all but they talk about it like it was a damn saw movie
people are going to fucking slaughter me for this but ive been having a mental breakdown on discord because i dont feel like the june we're getting in hc:bc works in the fucking,,,context of the story

earlier this week Twitter user ppuccin0 tweeted about a fashion article that advised against tops with large floral patterns, saying the wearer was in danger of looking like a "ロマンティックおばさ," or a "romantic auntie." the tweet went viral with many agreeing that a "romantic auntie" sounded like a very nice thing to aspire to be, and some even posted illustrations or photos tagged with the trend

Physical media is really awesome but please don’t discount sites like Bandcamp where you can buy DRM-free digital media. Buying raw media files lets you:
- Store a collection of millions of songs on a single hard drive (or burn them to CDs yourself!)
- Directly support artists, even those without the time/clout/resources to sell physical media
- With 20 minutes of effort, share your media library with anyone, anywhere, as much as you want.
Giant publishing companies are trying *really hard* to convince everyone that digital media is synonymous with you-don’t-own-shit streaming services, eternal subscription fees, and locked-down snoopscope video players. But there’s a reason so many artists sell their works online without those catches. Go support them!

It often feels like mainstream acceptance of queer people, particularly trans and nonbinary people, is contingent on there being few of us. When I was a kid witnessing arguments about gay marriage, statistics about LGBTQ people were so often presented in such a way as to reassure everyone else that we are not dangerous because we are rare. "It's not going to cause societal collapse ... because such a small percentage of people are gay."
And conservative rhetoric against queer people, particularly trans people, which explicitly refers to us as a "social contagion," really underscores that any perceived "increase" in sexual or gender diversity will be seen as a threat. If queer people are permitted to exist, we must be aberrant and isolated. If we are normal and natural and commonly occurring, it is because something has gone terribly wrong.
So. Forgive me if I bristle at the well-meaning argument that "these trans athlete bans are ridiculous, they're only going to affect a few dozen people!" I understand where they're coming from. But I think trans people should be free and abundant.
