Polls for nonbinary people/people under the nonbinary umbrella.
71 posts
I post polls for people whose gender identities don't fall into the "always, wholly, and exclusively male" or "always, wholly, and exclusively female" binaries. You do not have to identify with the nonbinary label specifically in order to participate!

Maverique Pride Day Proposal
Many gender identities have a day of visibility and pride, but maveriques don't. I want to propose a day for us, but I'm not sure which one to choose. I've boiled it down to three options:
May 13: Based on sound and visual appearance of the word "maverique" and does not overlap with other pride days, from what I've found.
June 16: Based on the day our pride flag was first publicized. Happens during pride month. Overlaps with Denmark's Marriage Equality Day.
June 21: Based on the day the definition of maverique was updated for the final time, as far as I know. Happens during pride month. Does not overlap with other pride days, from what I've found.

*Nonbinary as in any gender identity which does not fit neatly into either of the following categories:
Always, wholly, and exclusively a man.
Always, wholly, and exclusively a woman.
•••••••••••••••••••••••
**Epicene as in gender identity, alignment, and/or expression which does fall into at least one of the following categories:
Incorporating both manhood/masculinity and womanhood/femininity, or falling somewhere in between the two.
Incorporating neither of the two.
Lacking gender distinction, or being ambiguous.
•••••••••••••••••••••••
Anyone can answer this poll, regardless of your own gender!

Note
Nonbinary people, if you are in a relationship and wish to be labeled, which label do you prefer?
Boyfriend, AMAB
Girlfriend, AMAB
Partner, AMAB
Boyfriend, AFAB
Girlfriend, AFAB
Partner, AFAB
Boyfriend, Other
Girlfriend, Other
Partner, Other
Other
Non-partnering or qpr holder
See Results
*This includes anyone who does not fall into the binary of "always, wholly, and exclusively male" or "always, wholly, and exclusively female," even if they don't necessarily identify with the nonbinary label specifically.
•••••••••••••••••••••••
**I changed "Non-partnering or qpr holder" to "N/A" because people in queerplatonic relationships may or may not use terms like partner/boyfriend/girlfriend/etc.
N/A covers anyone who wouldn't use these terms for any reason, such as being non-partnering, being queerplatonically partnering and not using traditionally romantic labels, etc.
•••••••••••••••••••••••
I edited the poll slightly to try to be a bit more all-encompassing and easy to understand. I also tried to make the poll inclusive to people who are not currently partnered, but are interested in or open to partnership. I hope you don't mind!

**As in, you could hypothetically identify as straight if the gender(s) you're attracted to were different. For example, I could identify as straight if I were only attracted to women, but I'm attracted to all genders, so I identify as bisexual/omnisexual.
•••••••••••••••••••••••
***As in, regardless of which gender(s) you're attracted to, you would never perceive/experience that attraction as straight, specifically because you're nonbinary.
•••••••••••••••••••••••
EDIT: The "No, because of the genders I'm attracted to" option includes all combinations of genders a person may be attracted to, including none at all. If your answer is "No, because of the genders I'm not attracted to," that falls under the third option.
Additionally, the fourth option was supposed to have three asterisks, not just two. That was a typo that I can't fix now that the poll is live.
•••••••••••••••••••••••
EDIT 2: If your answer is something along the lines of:
"No, because of the genders I'm attracted to, but I still wouldn't be straight regardless of which genders I'm attracted to"
"No, because of the genders I'm attracted to and my gender"
... Select the fourth option, not the third or fifth.
The third option exists to indicate that your attraction could be straight if the gender(s) you're attracted to were different. If it wouldn't be straight regardless due to your own gender, please pick the fourth option. I tried to clarify this with the asterisks in the original post, and I'm not sure if people are just missing that bit of text, or if I wasn't clear enough.

#these always confuse me about whether I'm included or not#bc I was born female & identify female#but there are days when I'm very very uncomfortable being in a female body and wish it was more masculine and I dress more masculine#like being a humanoid w/out sexual organs would be v nice sometimes?#but identifying as a girl is just easier and I've accepted it bc I'm not going to use surgery to alter my body anyways#but I'm not sure that would make me nonbinary or if I just have dysphoria???#anyways I prefer just telling people I'm gay bc it covers all my bases#but they usually get mad about that too#so I actually just say I'm pansexual#but that ALSO upsets people so I really can't win 😅😮‍💨#so other bc I'm just confused#sorry for the rant
I think this is sort of a grey area, since it sounds like you primarily identify as female out of convenience or apathy. I say if it feels relevant to you, you're free to answer the poll!

I would usually add "Nonbinary people:" to the beginning of the poll, but I'm actually not sure what anon's intent for the demographic is, so it's open for anyone to answer!
