That my main character has caused so much chaos but can be forgiven. Syrupy forgiveness plot. Romance angst. Whump. Trauma and grievous head injury induced amnesia. Big floppy animal ears. Pyro shit. Boy/married girl friendships without adultery. Overprotective new fathers. Short Woman assassin. Men being emotionally available and even dare I say sensitive. Main character with communication issues. Amputation arc. Internal conflict with an alternate personality. Jekyll Hyde style. Character standing up for himself despite being shy.

What I didn't manage to get in. Romance subplot. True love for main character. Maybe someday.

High key, I wouldn't even be mad if Will joined Vecna. Of course Eleven isn't going to join that fuck, she's the one who banished him, that shit doesn't change after a few years?? (Tbh the way they were like, 'uh yeah the reason you couldn't rember One was because, um, you brained too hard' was like throwing a burning tire pile into a plothole to cover it up imo)

But Will? He's important. He's their little Upside Down Detector and you can tell he hates being around Mike(🤢) and El. My Brothers and Sisters and Siblings in Christ, when Mike(🤢) and El reunited, Will was a blurry figure in the back, watching with shards of his heart falling to the floor which could not symbolically represent how Mike(🤢🤢🤢) views Will and has viewed Will, since season 3 any better. And what does this mean? Will has the likely probable possibility of joining One. Because Will is hurting. He doesn't like El as much as he should, despite being worried for her because she's the reason him and Mike grew apart. If she had simply never been born, then One wouldn't be doing anything, the Upside Down would've stayed where it was, there would be no demogorgons, no mindflayers, no death, and there's a very high probability that Will could confess his feelings to Mike honestly and openly and be taken for consideration. (Don't know if Mike is just straight heterosexual or if he's a little bi. Unsure and Idc because he's the dirt I walk on at this point.) But with how Mikey's stupid little peanut brain works, if Will did it anytime in season 3-4 he would be FUCKING ACCUSED OF TRYING TO BREAK HIM AND EL UP BECAUSE HOPPER PUT HIM UP TO IT(s3) OR FUCKIN HES BEING SELFISH OR WHATEVER. And I think Will knows this because of the way he holds it in. The way he [tender emotional music plays]s and [gazing longingly]s.

So, my hypothesis is that One will use his little brain waves, see that Will is hurting very bad and either crunch him or just keep him as a pet at his side so the others are left like chickens running around with their heads cut off under the promise that once El is dead, he will leave Mike alive long enough to confess Will's feelings and maybe get a kiss in there(over the duffer bros dead bodies, amiright folks?) before they die together. That, or the unbelievable promise that he'll let Mike and Will live together under his rule.

Either way, Will corruption arc!💅 Can't wait! Fuck DB!

will didn’t even get vecna’d, he didn’t get to openly vent to his brother, and only confessed under the excuse that he was talking about el. and of course mike didn’t notice him crying because suddenly michael wheeler can’t read william byers at all despite seeing will’s eyerolls with the back of his head in vol 1.

in the end, will is just the doorbell to let you know when vecna is coming, a plot device to let you know that it was vecna all along, and he’s also just a plot device to fix other people’s relationships.

he’s always giving and giving and giving and only gets crumbs, when lucky, in return.

So you're telling me, they just left his body there? In the upside down forever? That no one cared or mourned but Dustin? That they let him be called a murderer and cult leader with no one fighting back against those allegations? That max can survive several broken bones and a whole standoff with vecna but Eddie dies in vain to fulfill some heroic redemption arc that wasn't necessary? He deserved better than that. I never thought of defining a moral of the story this early in the game. That's a pretty good tip.

As I said, mine is post-modern dystopia fantasy but not desert kind, the lush kind. Nature reclaiming the hell of a world the inhabitants put her through.

In any case, the apocalypse have been over for about 30-40 years, no timeline yet. So qt this point, people are starting to coagulate into camps, tribes, settlements, whatever. Groups. One of the bigger ones in the region we will be focusing on is the Montgomery Settlement, founded by the mayor, Clayton Montgomery. He a goblin.

So there's magic, it's elemental, you HAVE to use a focus with it and it really helps things along in the settlement. Everyone has a job depending on what magic they know how to use. You can learn a different type than the one you were born with (signified by a scar-like mark on your palms, everyone's is slightly different but the shape is the same) but it's seen as like getting a double masters. Very difficult, yet impressive. This is important because worldbuilding.

Now, the Montgomery settlement does super well but they have a pest problem. There is a... feral snow elf (there are different types of elves goblins, orcs, a specific race of taurs that are all shapes and sizes, monkey people((think Lego monkey king)), pixies, so on) running around and trying to set things on fire and kill people. But thankfully all magic can be countered and the team they have assembled to protect the settlement is very good. We got the TinMan, a previously out of commission human-like android that the earth has partially reclaimed (the only thing holding him together is plants that grew in and over his body), Stranger, which is a creature that nobody recognizes and have no idea where he came from, but he's not hostile so he can stay, and finally, the holy woman, name in progress; she is a psychic type, while not extremely rare, extremely hard to control, but she learned to control. I consider the psyche a powerful element because our brains are extremely powerful. Psychic types have the ability to administer a sort of block to other magic types. The well that you draw your power from runs dry if the psychic makes it so. Plus they have the cool mind bending powers and junk. It's a wip.

Anyhoo, these 3 are the best line of defense against the creature they've coined as The Phoenix. Because he lights a bunch of stuff on fire and just when they think they've gotten rid of him, he comes back and sets more things on fire and he wears a giant predatory bird skull..

You see, the Montgomery settlement is in his territory, or so he claims and he wants them out. He eventually grows tired of the games and kidnaps the mayor, dangling him over the edge of a 3 story tall branch and saying if the council doesn't order everyone to pack up and move, he'd kill him. The others wouldn't be able to reach the Phoenix in time to capture him with making the mayor into bacon or dropping him and if anyone blasted him, he'd drop the mayor. Well, someone notices a large branch above them and blasts that instead, smashing the Phoenix qnd sending him 30 ft to the ground. Should've died right? Wrong. He just has a head injury now. He fell into some leaves. The mayor reasons that maybe if he makes the Phoenix part of the colony, he won't attack anymore, plus he'll be a very powerful addition to the group.

Upon inspection, they learn that he doesn't use a focus, which means his magic has corrupted him. That means, when he wakes up from the coma he was in, he's "back to normal". Corruption has been bonked away for now.

And thus begins Virgil's new and extremely uncomfortable life in the settlement. Everyone despises him for his crimes, rightfully so, and he can't quite remember what he did! He can't leave or he'll be eaten by an animal or something. He's a fully grown 26 year old man! He needs a caretaker! (His caretaker is Sophia, a cattaur on maternity leave who has nothing better to do. Her husband, Michael, a foxtaur, hates her new job).

So yeah we're following Virgil, relearning how to act around people qnd trying to be helpful while managing a corruption that jumps out and attacks people sometimes.
