Part Two: Lo'ak "Lowriver" of Sully's and Tskaha's blood.

previous Part One Miles "Braveheart"

Lo'ak is the second son of Jake "Strongheart" and Neytiri, a member of the Omatikaya clan, who is also strongly connected to his father's people Sardans. Just like Spider, he is a young knight, and therefore his clothes are mostly in noble blue shades, even though he doesn't wear any armor except for spaulder or vambraces. In contrast to the Sardani clothing, he wears a loincloth on a sturdy carved belt made of thick leather and leggings. The weapon he carries is his father Jake's old sword, whereas Neteyam uses his grandfather's bow. Because of this, two brothers are alike and yet completely different.

Lo'ak hates injustice, but he is still too young to be fighting for the good with a cold mind. He does wear an acrym ribbon around his head, although his mother always said that he is as impulsive as his father. Being a knight, Lo'ak is expected to obey the seniors and mentor the younger ones, while not long ago he himself was mentored by his brother Neteyam and their friend Miles. As a result, he would sometimes argue with them, feeling weak and humiliated, whereas his little sister Tuk was getting all the attention from their parents. "She's just a small girl, and you're already carrying a sword. Mother is weaving you a ribbon which you'll soon have on your head. Now quit whining and lift your head up with pride, or I'll be calling you a baby for the rest of your life," Neteyam scolded him back then.

Among boys, Lo'ak feels at ease, yet among girls, he gets clumsy and bashful. That is why, during the Green Festival, when Sardani boys compete in tournaments and at their end pick maidens the same age as "guardians of their souls and hearts", Lo'ak stays aside, amazed at how easily Spider takes Kiri to his saddle.

A boy of Sully's blood became "Lowriver" when he went hunting for hares that destroyed fruitful bushes with Sardani youth in the steppe, as requested by Olangi clan. Back then, a young archer girl named Colette taunted him, saying that hares hide in burrows and between high rocks, but not in the river, where his gaze was fixed. As the other huntsmen were shooting feral hares, Lo'ak attempted to find his prey, but Colette was always overtaking him. Scowling, the boy regretted not joining Miles into the woods, and so, in order not to leave the hunt empty-handed, he decided to fish. Everyone started laughing at him when they saw six meaty fish wrapped in a sack strapped to his horse. After all, in such a low river, even a drunk can catch fish with his bare hands. All of that catch he gave to one of the Olangi families.

Lo'ak loves his family and admires both his father and mother. However, when the Danes started attacking again, this time against the sea people, when the island clans started calling for help, one of the leaders, Jake, hesitated in his decision to help. Hearing that the Sardans had shed too much blood in the last war with the Jaswa slave traders and the Danes, Lo'ak grew enraged. "Sardans had no reason to help both Omatikaya and Olangi, but Sardans are not cowards. We have to help others, even those who share no land with us. Your name is "Strongheart" yet you sound like a coward!" He spilled it all on his father and their relationship strained. But in a few days, selected troops of Sardans and Omatikay set off to the east of their mainland to reach the island tribes.

One day, Lo'ak will meet Tsireya, who, like a mermaid from fairy tales, will steal his heart.

On his belt, Lo'ak hangs metal coin-like tokens for the number of enemies he has killed or severely wounded. Neteyam wears the same ones around his neck.

His sister Kiri is going to be a healer in the future, so she spends a lot of time with their grandmother and listens not only to her guidance, but to the old legends and hymns. For Lo'ak, she is the grail of knowledge, as well as endless kindness, who was the first to love their friend, even though Spider, as they nicknamed him, had a terrible reputation since birth. Meanwhile, he compares his youngest sister, Tuktirey, to a squirrel who only knows how to jump around and bite his ears while he sleeps.

Part One: Miles "Braveheart" of Quaritch's blood

Miles, or as his dear Kiri calls him Spider, was born from a union between a mercenary warrior, Miles Quaritch, and Paz, a half-indigenous woman born of an outlaw marriage. Spider had been stigmatized as someone who has brought misfortune and death because he barely resembled his mother. Even though he has her eyes, his father gave him his sky-blue eye in remembrance. For this reason, Omatikaya children would tease him during his childhood, trying to gouge out his brown eye that looked like theirs with a stick to change Miles into a full-fledged demon, a shining ghost from the North. They failed, but the scar remained on his left eyelid and cheek.

Jake "Strongheart", one of the Sardan leaders appointed sixteen years ago, took charge over the son of one of the Dans and Jaswa chiefs against Omatikaya and their east allies Sardans. Miles has never known mother's affection, but he knew the village, which strengthened his spirit and willpower. He was allowed to be around Jake's children and formed lasting friendships with Neteyam, Lo'ak, and adopted daughter Kiri, the child of murdered Sardani physician Grace. Although he had never had a strong bond with Tuktirey, as she was growing up he and Sully along with the other Omatikaya and Sardan youths were learning the art of warfare far away in the woods and low-lying plains.

Spider and Neteyam ride two sister mares, and not only that, but also their previous youthful love for each other, bonds them. However, they had to break off this short-lived warm affair because they realized that they could never leave their tribes in order to be together. Neteyam is the son of a former Sardani leader and a local warrior named Neytiri, he is supposed to carry on the lineage of Sully and Tskaha, while Miles must refine his essence.

It was during that period, when Spider roamed the forests out of grief and hunted, that he began to take a liking to Kiri. At first, she didn't pay much attention to it, already wearing an akrym ribbon indicating her belonging to the Omatikaya people and maturity. "Even if you catch me three martens in an evening, or if you defeat someone in a duel, I won't even grant you a kiss, as you are still a lad." Miles, being a year older than Kiri, answered: "When you see me with the blue girdle, you will know you owe me a kiss. A cheek one." The following day, Miles modestly hung it on his hip...

Spider is honorable and devoted knight (a knight is a soldier of honor according to the Sardans) thanks to the two tribes that brought him up. He has a pure heart, despite the fact that he sometimes fought nearly to death with other boys in a storm of anger. That is why some young Sardani men are wary of him due to his stature and physique, as well as his ancestry. Everyone knows that after the defeat of the Dans, he was found as a baby underneath a dead woman, Paz, who belonged to a fierce warrior named Quaritch, rumored not to be a Dane, but rather an indigenous man of the North. According to stories, he wore heavy black armor and carried an axe instead of a sword. The boy's father's body was never found, only his weapon, and so some people believe Quaritch is still alive, that he managed to survive and escape. However, no one knows the whole truth, except for Spider, who knows that Jake keeps that axe hidden somewhere in the forest from prying eyes. And one day the boy will steal it.

The acrym ribbon is worn by Omatikaya, who is recognized as an adult and mature enough to wed. It is woven from white spider silk that inhabit deserted caves and milkweed fiber.

Golden blue girdle is given to a young man who either defeated an opponent not younger than him or brought the most trophies during the Green Festival.

thank you for your question ^^ though I'm not thinking deeply about that many details, I'll try to answer..

1) I tend to think he's more likely bisexual, I just can't explain it... (I don't really understand the nuances in terms of identity and gender, maybe it's a completely different sexuality, but it's just what I'm most familiar with)

2) I guess no (at least physical for sure), but if there are such, they just haven't been diagnosed yet ^^" except for childhood trauma, but it's not an illness ig

3) Spider is addicted to salty chips and fries along with white monster zero sugar (though his father is not happy with that at all)

I was walking in the park and saw people celebrating a birthday at a picnic, and now I am curious: how do you think Spider would celebrate his birthday? Alone or with a group of friends? Would anyone forget about it? What would he want to get?

...In a foster home, Spider would only get a piece of cake and some basic things like jeans or a low-cost smartphone, so one day he just joined a bunch of random guys drinking at the football ground. He ended up being dumped on the street drunk and blacked out, only to be found by a morning patrol.

After this experience, and after Quaritch got custody of him, Spider didn't really want any parties (he celebrated his sixteenth birthday in the company of his father and a shepherd puppy), but Tsireya and Kiri threw one while Tsireya's parents were out of town. It was his birthday present, since Spider isn't a big spender, and Quaritch had already bought whatever he needed.
