-He had an afro-latina mom (cuban 🇨🇺) and white father

-He presents as a man, but internally is moreso genderless. Too 1920s pilled to admit this though

-He can only eat human and deer meat, anything else tastes horrible and brings him tummy aches 💔 (like in tokyo ghoul lol)

- Smells like rotting corpse (due to his,, diet) but hides it with expensive perfume.

-Killed anyone who got in his way, but exclusively ate people he admired/were "above him" in the social hierarchy

-Highly talkative, charming, playful and eloquent. He really wants to be seen as mysterious, but can't shut his mouth even if he was held at gunpoint

-After so many years in hell, he's become extremely out of touch with his own humanity and others. Even more than when he was alive.

-His sense of humor's become rather twisted, but he's unaware of this, struggling to understand why people don't laugh when he jokes about eating them alive.

-Alastor lives in a gigantic, labyrinthic mansion, inhabited only by him and those he's made a deal with: his "Busboys", deer-like creatures dressed like restaurant waiters, who follow him around everywhere he goes making his sound effects, and the overlords he keeps as trophies (Nifty and Husker, for example).

-Despite what he remembers, he was quite the mess when he was alive. Psychologically of course, he still was perfectly put together presentation wise. Though he believed himself to be some sort of hyper intelligent cold blooded serial killer, he was frequently on the cusp of being caught and crumbling completely. He frequently broke down and disassociated after a kill/while eating his victims

Tw racism, mentions of suicide, murder, cannibalism all that

-His parents were genuinely in love, or at least that's what his mother thought when she found out they were having a kid. His wealthy dad wasn't so thrilled- he only saw her as an affair, a break from his responsibilities and his 'real' family. They fought and she left with baby Alastor. To give her son a better life, she started blackmailing his father for money. She wasn't proud of this, and out of guilt she didn't spend a single cent on herself.

-In the few visits to his father's mansion, child Alastor couldn't help but get lost in the dream. The image of the infinite stairs and hallways, the paintings, the patio, the balconies, it all remained engrained in his head.

-Alastor was extremely resentful of his father, but for all the wrong reasons. He hated him more so for discarding him, for thinking he didn't "have what it takes".

-His mom slowly grew more anxious and paranoic, believing his father would come for them, take him away. This led to them frequently moving across the state, Alastor barely attending school, becoming isolated from others his age.

-The few times he stayed with his grandparents, his grandma tried teaching him spanish, and his grandpa was more like a father to him than the 'real' one.

-He grew to worry frequently about his mother, who's mental health rapidly declined. Despite this, she encouraged him to move out and go to the big city.

-So he learnt to play the game- slowly becoming the charming man we know of. But early on his career, he was seen as a doormat by most, being taken advantage of and ran over by everyone around him. His mother always taught him to turn the other cheek, to smile and keep on.

'You won't get ahead in life by making a fuss'

So he kept on, and on, and on, until he broke.

Yet he didn't break to grow and rebel, he grew to hate. He would run everyone else into the ground to gain even a spec of respect from those he admired- those like his father.

-It all ended when he felt forced to kill one of his closest friends- the host of their shared radio show. Even though this host was marginally less popular and dedicated than Alastor, the heads at the studio refused to give him his own show. Not only that, he took the credit for all his hard work. The final nail in the coffin. So, Al did what he had to.

-After the mysterious disappearance of their host, they were forced to either shut down their most popular show, or let Alastor lead.

-So Alastor became an anonymus radio host, what was now his show skyrocketing in popularity with him as the director and main host.

-But this incident opened the flood gates for Alastor's desperate search for control. All he wanted was to be feared, to be respected.

-Many more died by his hands. The lucky ones had their remains made into wonderful dishes for him to taste.

-Alastor frequently sent letters back and forth with his mom. But one day, she stopped responding. He was too busy to check in on her, and when he finally had time to visit, he found out she had mysteriously shot herself. And he missed the funeral.

He was quick to find out his father had actually sent someone to kill her, to keep his secret. And Alastor would've been dead too if he had stayed. But his father couldn't seem to track him down, and, on the other side, alastor knew exactly were his mansion was.

-This event started Alastor's decline on popularity and mental health. He ends up isolating himself even more, only going out for his job, spending the money he had on a cabin in the woods.

-Then he gets mistaken for a deer. Is shot. Fun!!

Back to hell ~

-Still obsessed with reaching the insane standards his father lived by, he is desperate to achieve the life of the rich- if only to show a long-dead man that he was wrong to discard him. But it's never enough. He always feels empty, hungry, and most of all, bored. The mansion is the kind of place he always dreamed of living in, that only in hell he could have, but it'll never be truly fulfilling.

-Alastor feels like few others in his circle (of overlords) understands true hardwork. But then comes Charlie. The supposed princess of hell, born with all the power and the money. But not the respect. To him, it's hilariously ironic, and partially... Pityful. Maybe he actually empathizes with her, or maybe he's just plain bored, but he decides to become the first sponsor for the "happy" Hotel- nothing to lose in hell after all.

Forgot to explain why he smokes lol it just helps him relax and keep up the mask when he struggles. Also very normalized in the 20s

updated alastor altruist redesign!🦌📻

rewrite under the cut ⬇️

-alastor was a famous radio presenter in the 1920's. he was also a serial killer and a cannibal, who died in 1929. he was 46 when he died.

-he wished to be famous in his life, but he could not safely become a tv show host or a movie star because of the racism of the time, so he chose to hide behind radio instead, never showing his face- even going so far as to show up to prestigious events wearing deer masks

-this obsession with staying anonymous made him infinitely more mysterious and interesting to his listeners

-he was also quite charming and charismatic

-he was quite poor in his youth and so became obsessed with eating, which led to him becoming a cannibal. he is always hungry. hungry for fame, hungry for power, hungry for flesh

-he died of starvation. he was chasing a victim through the woods when his foot got caught in a bear trap. he was stuck there for 3 days before succumbing to his injuries. (thats why hes so alarmingly skinny)

-his reputation as a serial killer preceded him when he arrived in hell. major evils dying is always a big event, and he used this to gain power

-he now sits as a major overlord - but none of his empire is real. he doesn't have any major powers, and has lied his way to the top by implying that he has more power than he is letting on. he doesn't

-he discovers Charlie's hotel through her tv show last-ditch pitch (same as the pilot, except ive now decided that that interview cost them the last of their hotel money, so the stakes to find an investor were higher). he decides to sponsor Charlie's hotel because he wants POWER, real substantial power to ensure his throne of lies is safe, and he figures manipulating Lucifer's weak daughter is the easiest way to get that power

-i should mention that in my rewrite if a sinner is able to kill an overlord or a Sin that sinner gets their title and (relative) powers. alastor knows he can do this to lucifer as it's happened once before with satan

-he is immediately overbearingly friendly to her, which vee & the other guests find suspicious. he begins bending the hotel to his whims, making it more suited to his tastes.

-he has large amounts of money, which he uses to fund and advertise the hotel

-his radio show, however, has slowly been dwindling in popularity over the years. this and "the goodness of his heart" are what he tells charlie are why he invests in the hotel

-he tends to disappear when fights start

-his best friend is nifty. they have a very strong bond. he often communicates her worries for her, and in return she spies on the guests for him. he doesn't even own her soul they're just buddies

-he's still aroace but not bc he only cares about himself. thats stupid

-he is intentionally mysterious and speaks in riddles & lotts of 1920s slang

-he is firmly still in the 1920s, to an unusual extent. he has all the dated ideas and mannerisms of the 20's, refusing to become more modern.

-his room in the hotel is entirely monochrome

-he shares charlie's love of musicals, and often encourages her to sing. whether his like of them is genuine or an act is unclear

-his face does not have the capability to move. he cannot blink, close his mouth or eat
