I've had this ready for weeks now, I'm so excited to share it soon! Just ironing (pun intended) some things out before I start to post weekly hopefully . I thought I'd do a friendly interest check, as I get things in order, just to get a feel of what to expect. I haven't been an active fic writer in a hot minute, it's been a while since I wrote and posted something.

Day 6

I can now proudly say that chapter 5 is done, yay! It was nice exploring Tony's POV for this chapter, but I'm ready to go back to Peter's. I don't know why, but I find him easier to write. I'm always worried that I won't be able to get Tony's complexity right. Hopefully I did!

I think I might start posting soon, let's see how it goes!

No seriously, who volunteers to beta read my irondad WIP? I want to start posting soon and it's kind of a mess. The good kind though, like really good. But still messy because I'm messy and I changed my mind twice mid writing and English doesn't make sense that much so I write what feels right and that sometimes means I follow my own language rules so yeah, I need a beta reader. For the writers struggling to rid themselves of the classic ‘said’. Some are repeated in different categories since they fit multiple ones (but those are counted once so it adds up to 100 new words).

Note: everyone is entitled to their own opinion. No I am NOT telling people to abandon said and use these. Yes I understand that said is often good enough, but sometimes you WANT to draw attention to how the character is speaking. If you think adding an action/movement to your dialogue is 'good enough' hate to break it to you but that ruins immersion much more than a casual 'mumbled'. And for the last time: this is just a resource list, CALM DOWN. Hope that covers all the annoyingly redundant replies :)

A call for Beta reader

I'm not sure how exactly to go about this. Traditionally, I assume, most fanfic writers have someone they know beta read their works. I already have someone to give me feedback, but I really need someone to break it apart and look for the grammar, spelling, punctuation mistakes. I'm not a native English speaker so I tend to structure my sentences in a weird way. I'd appreciate someone making sure what I'm writing is readable. If you're interested, let me know!

The fic I'm looking to be beta read is an irondad fanfic. It's around 35k words so far, it has the potential to reach 100K, more if I'm really inspired. It has heavy themes and discusses mental health issues and trauma. It will get dark, not entirely, but where it counts. I can tell you more about it if you're interested!

*grabs you* if the members of the found family aren't at least a little bit fucked up about each other what's even the point man. if the lines aren't even a little bit blurred when it comes to roles what's the point. buddy. pal. what's even the point of having a found family and then imposing strict nuclear family roles unto them, or never allowing the roles they do have to be bent or broken. what's even the point if one character (assuming they're the same age) is ALWAYS being taken care of by the other without it being related to one of their arcs. what's even the point if the found family doesn't take care of each other. what's even the point if they're normal about having people they are so so close to so as to trust with nearly everything and stick with and sweat bleed and die for. what's even the point if the roles arent flexible and based on a foundation of trust over any kind of imposed relationship, and the dynamics shift for what is needed in the situation. what's even the point if they're not a little bit in love about it. they need to LOVE EACH OTHER. what's the point if they are being kept at a distance the same to that of an acquaintance and it's not part of their greater arc or bc of their character. let them sleep together. let them cuddle. let them kiss (not necessarily romantically!!! on the forehead or the hand or a little peck on the top of a head). I'm so sick of sanitized found families I need them to care about each other so much it hurts they need to think about the others way too much do you get it. I don't want it to be a replacement for a real family I want them to Frankenstein together a new creation it needs to be elevated it needs to be bleeding and raw it needs to be REAL I want it to be ALIVE. WHY are your found family dynamics so fucking DEAD!!!! STOP SHOVELLING ROTTING MEET INTO MY MOUTH I CAN TELL ITS DEAD I CAN FUCKING TELL WHEN ITS DIVIDED SO CLEARLY BY CARETAKER/WHUMPEE WHY IS IT SO ONE-WAY THE FAMILY TAKES CARE OF EACH OTHER THEY DONT NEED TO BE JUST ONE ROLE. A PERSON CAN BE A FATHER A MOTHER A MENTOR A TEACHER. A BROTHER AND FRIEND IN SOLIDARITY OR EVEN A LOVER IF IT IS NEEDED. DO YOU GET IT. DO YOU GET IT.

Peter was acting weird today, not his normal weird but nice suspicious kind of weird, he brought his coffee without complaining, he listened to his instructions, he didn't make fun of his age, and he didn't snark back.

At first Tony dismissed it as whatever was left from the hero worship but as time went Tony noticed how distant the boy was chewing his lips, glancing in his direction every few seconds when he thought Tony wasn't looking, he asked him once but the boy said he was okay so Tony decided to wait for him.

They were silent for half an hour, which is impressive for Peter, and at the same time concerning, he heard the boy take a few encouraging breaths and mumbled ' You can do it, Peter' which was cute.

'Okay this time to act as a proper mentor' Tony said to himself 'yeah definitely mentor'

"Mr.Stark" he heard the hesitant nervous voice of the boy, it made him soft immediately, gosh how much he hates the way Peter makes him soft it isn't good for his reputation.

"Yeah Pete" he replied couldn't help but smile at the younger boy "I was wondering if Uhmm, you know if ahh" the boy was so nervous it physically hurt Tony, the boy looked at the table where Tony's wallet was, did he need money? Does he want something he can buy the moon if Peter asks "Do you want money? I can give you as much as you want, or I will write you a check"

Peter blinked confused " wha- no!"

Or was he looking at the keys " Do you want a car then? I can buy you a car, and we can book an appointment next week with the guy I always buy from, or are you in a rush? I can give you one from the garage, do you have a driving license?-"

"Ha? No" Peter was overwhelmed by everything Tony said but he didn't even notice "It's okay we can work on that-"

"Tony!" Peter yelled, which shocked Tony for two things his first name and the loud voice "I don't want money or a car! " Peter said frustrated and upset, 'So much for listening to the boy', Tony thought he cringed mentally at his behavior.

"I just wanted to ask you if you want to come with me to the baseball match, I won those tickets in one of those competitions and I had no one to go with and I just wanted to ask if you want to come with me," Peter said.

Tony didn't expect that, he wasn't the sports kind of guy, and he knew neither was Peter "You don't have to come if you don't want I know you don't like it"

Okay damage control time before the boy runs out of the lab, "I'd love to go with you, Petey" Tony said knowing he would be bored and wouldn't last more than half an hour there but he would do it for his kid.

"Really?!" Peter was shocked which is fair, he stood up ruffled the boy's hair with a smirk on his face "So you've been acting all nice so I would say yes?"

Peter pushed his hand giggling, "No, my aunt always told me to be nice to the elderly"

He gasped dramatically, he reached with both hands to mess Peter's hair "You are a piece of shit Parker" Peter's laugh echoed in the lab, Tony's favorite music.

"Do you know anything about baseball anyway?" Tony asked looking at the boy trying to fix his hair "No" he said simply "Do you?" He asked looking at Tony with his bambi eyes.

"Well I guess we should go figure out baseball, while eating something," Tony said throwing an arm around his kid's shoulders and walking them out of the lab "Ohhh food" Peter was basically vibrating in his place at the mention of food "But seriously, we should work on the driving license thing"

"Uhhhh" Peter's whining made Tony laugh so hard

Day 5

After 4 days of being unable to write, I finally did. Somehow, I'm still not done with chapter 5. How is that possible? I'm still not sure if I should start posting yet or not. I mean, I already have the first 2 chapters written and beta read. I'm just worried no one will read a WIP. I know it shouldn't matter if anyone reads it or not, I wrote it for me, but I can't help the part of me that seeks validation. This sucks.

It just keeps getting longer and longer. I wonder if it'll hit the 100K mark. I've never written more than 70k for a single fic. Will this be my first?

A theory I have that I don't think I've seen discussed anywhere is that Peter's spider senses take over when he's unconscious. We've seen this in Spider-Man: No Way Home. In the scene where he and Dr. Strange fight for the box containing the trapped spell. Even after Dr. Strange knocked his spirit? Soul? Consciousness? Whatever it's called, out of his body, Peter was still able to move. But it wasn't really Peter moving, because that would be impossible, it was his spider senses or powers that were moving his body. I can say this confidently because, Dr. strange confirms it in away, he asks, a little confused and surprised, how Peter is able to do that which indicates that in this state, no one should be able to move. Also, because Peter being Peter, he's too excited and taken by the idea that he's literally outside his body to panic and try to move, instead he's in this fascinated state of wonder. What does all of that mean exactly? A) In the out of body state, you cannot move your body. B) Peter didn't try to move his body C) His body moved regardless. So if we take these three facts into consideration, we can only conclude one thing and that is his spider senses/powers are what made him move when he's in a state of not being able to move— just pure instinct. Which of course makes me wonder if there are other situations where his spider "instinct" take control of his body. By that I don't mean in the same way the Winter Solider switches or how Moon Night has three personalities (Mark, Steven, and a third one) he switches between. No, I'm thinking more of a silent, mindless, and pure raw animalistic instinct state of mid. A point where Peter is not really there, he blacks out, like he's asleep, just pitch black darkness all around, and the spider takes over. In this state, there is no morals, no logic, or reason just the need to survive. Like a snap, you know? Or going feral. I think that side of him would come out in high intense situations, on the brick of death situation— do or die.

I really want to explore that side in my writing and see it being explored in others. I'd love to see what others interpret as his breaking point. I can just taste the angst, the struggle, the raw and naked devastation and I love it!

God, it says a lot about me that I love to put my favorite characters through hell and back.

Broke Peter Parker except instead of selling selfies to the daily bugle he just keeps getting odd jobs that allow for weird hours and random disappearances without asking for identification.

Peter Parker who’s coincidentally getting employed by every evil mad scientist in the vicinity because it’s the only place his outlined skills and lack do information are accepted

Peter Parker who notices too late that his employer is most definitely a villain.

Peter who walks into work and stares at a tied up hero for a few seconds in confusion before realizing he’s most definitely a henchmen.

Peter Parker’s who’s having a blast sabotaging their evil plans and who can pull the innocent kid act to get out of trouble.

Spider-Man who for some reason know’s the accesses code and his way around the evil lair he’s raiding.

Spider-Man who knowns the name of criminals and ominously calls them by their nicknames only close friends know while fighting.

Spider-Man who guard dogs won’t attack and seem excited to see.

Spider-Man who can identify goons and henchman with 85% accuracy based on their coffee orders.

Spider-Man who always knows where the emergency kill switch on an evil robot is located.

Peter Parker who accidentally clocks into work wearing his Spider-Man suit and is completely confused as to why his coworkers are suddenly shooting at him.

Bonus points if the villains try to hide the fact that their villains from Peter.

Even more bonus points if iron man is the hero getting tied up and both of them stare at each other in confusion. (For maximum efficiency Peter should be wearing the uniform for this villain and mabye holding a coffee run or cleaning supplies.)

This happens concerningly often. It’s not even on purpose he just really needs a job. He’s way too casual about this.

Morgan choosing to make Peter officially family before Pepper or Tony

She always cries when Peter is away for a long time or doesn't play with him for a few days because he's busy

One time Tony and Peter were watching TV in the living room, hugging each other, and Morgan came in with a jealous look on her face, Tony thought she was jealous of him but then Morgan got in between them, separated them and hugged PETER, stuck her tongue out at Tony and said "my Pete!!!!"

Tony has never been so shocked and betrayed and Peter didn't even notice because he was staying in the movie, he just accepted and gave Morgan a little kiss on the forehead and continued hugging watching the movie

Another time Morgan was crying because she didn't want to sleep and Tony was trying to calm her down and Morgan just said "I WANT PETE!" and Tony had to call Peter who was in the guest room doing homework to calm Morgan down, she fell asleep after a little lullaby and a kiss on the cheek, Tony didn't know whether to be happy or angry about the situation

When Pepper tells Maorgan that Peter isn't even her brother she starts crying, when Happy took her to pick up Peter from school (because she INSISTED on it for WEEKS) the first thing she did when she saw Peter was hug him and they call him "big brother" (Peter still have nightmares by the consequences of this action)
