Blood Is Thicker Than ‘Sea’water

I was reading a fanfic (not related to Young Justice) that brought up the quote “The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb” and I suddenly recalled when Kaldur used the shortened and modified version of that quote in Season 2 ‘Alienated’ after the reveal of him working with his father (although we hadn’t yet found out he was actually a double agent)

It made me wonder: Was Kaldur using the real meaning? That the bonds he formed with the team and League were still stronger than the connection of his birth father? Was he using it in a way that sounded like he was truly on Manta’s side while hinting at the fact that he was still working for the team?

I just thought it was interesting so I have no clue if someone else picked this up in the time between Season 2 and now 😅 Anyone else?
