Barty and James finally getting along after jegulus get together (they're besties now)

Literally like 2 people said they would be interested in my marauders fandom fanfic slop, so obviously that means I have to do it now. The masses are practically begging me for it!

If all goes well, consider this part 1 of my random fanfic ideas (there are so many more).

I really couldn't decide which one to post first, but this one seemed like a good starting point.

So here is: Obscurial Regulus. A concept I saw when I first joined this fandom and haven't been able to get out of my head since.

(I actually have two different ideas for obscurial Regulus, but this post will only be about one of them)

Regulus as a toddler witnesses Sirius, who is only two years older than him, and Narcissa, who is six years older, get in trouble for their uncontrollable accidental magic. He represses his magic, most likely without even realising that he's doing it, out of fear of punishment.

By the time he was seven and still hadn't shown any signs of magic, the whole family thought he was a squib.

Walburga and Orion hide his entire existence. Nobody could know the most ancient and noble house of Black had a squib. They made Sirius swear to secrecy when he left for Hogwarts. As far as anyone knew, he was an only child.

The rest of the family treat him the same way they treat the house elves and because of that, Kreacher is Regulus' only friend and the only one who doesn't treat him like shit besides Sirius.

There's a day when he's fifteen, the summer before Sirius' 6th year, that Sirius gets into trouble. Their mother is furious, Regulus has never seen her so mad.

She's torturing Sirius and Regulus is helpless. All he can do is watch. Even if he wasn't a squib, his mother is a very powerful witch, he wouldn't be able to stop her even with magic.

Its not until Sirius is half dead that he can't take it anymore and something inside him just snaps.

He feels the energy burst out of him before he sees it.

In seconds, the room is almost completely destroyed, his mother is laying on the floor, either unconscious or dead, his father barges in, having heard all the noise, and ends up in a similar state.

Regulus is scared and confused and the only thing that calms him down is Sirius pulling him into a hug.

Regulus collapses after that and Sirius has to drag him through the floo to the Potters house. Then he has to explain the whole situation to the Potters, who had no idea that Sirius has a brother.

Effie and Monty know what an Obscurus is and explain it to the boys, which terrifies Regulus more.

While staying with the Potters, Regulus continues to suppress his magic which only make the Obscurus worse. James and Sirius try to help but he's so scared of his magic and the obscurus that he pushes them away.

Of course he meets the rest of Sirius' friends and of course he and Remus immediately get along. Its comforting to know he isn't the only person who has a monster inside of him.

And Remus is the one who manages to convince Regulus to let the marauders help him, because they helped Remus too.

The rest of the summer is spent trying to help Regulus control the Obscurus and teaching him magic.

Maybe some jegulus stuff happens.

Maybe at the end of the summer Dumbledore invites Regulus to attend Hogwarts and he meets the skittles? This version of Regulus would most likely struggle lot with going to school. Hogwarts is such a big place with so many people and he's never really left Grimauld Place before, or met people other than his family and the potters.

Maybe his parents try to drag him back because now he's powerful? In a world with Voldemort, they could want him back so he could become a deatheater. So the Dark Lord could use his Obscurus for his own benefit.

F*ck it, maybe Obscurials can destroy horcuxes. I feel like something parasitic in nature with that much power might stand a chance.

There are other, smaller details I can think of, like Regulus missing Kreacher and being friends with all of the Hogwarts house elves, but this is all of the big stuff I can think of, for now.

I've read a lot of fics where Remus and Regulus become close after The Prank, but consider: The Black brothers reconcile after The Prank because Regulus is the only person who truly understands why Sirius would do something like that, even if he didn't really mean to, because they were both raised in the same house, by the same cruel people.

He's at least 5'10" (178cm) or more. Long torso and even longer legs. Slender fingers, perfect for playing the piano.

He's taller than Sirius and Sirius is sooo annoyed about it lol.

I've read so many fics and seen so many fanarts where Regulus has snake or star tattoos, which obviously makes sense, but with how much this fandom compares him to Icarus, I think we should start giving him wing tattoos on his back as well.

Whenever I'm hyper fixated on a fandom I always end up with a small army of AUs/fanfic ideas floating around my brain on a constant loop, but I never do anything with them because I find it difficult to put the ideas into a story format.

But now that I've started posting on tumblr, I'm wondering if anyone would actually be interested in hearing about the ideas I have for my current obsession (the marauders era (specifically the black brothers)).

And maybe it would inspire people who write fanfiction? Idk I'm just looking for an excuse to yap at this point.

Are there any marauders era characters that are commonly headcanoned as hufflepuffs?

I've read so many marauders era fics and I've noticed that most of the characters are either gryffindore or slytherin with a few ravenclaws mixed in. But I don't think I've seen any hufflepuffs in any of the fics I've read beyond nameless background characters.

Maybe I'm just not reading the right fics?

I just need more hufflepuff representation in my life.

Barty who, while definitely unhinged and a little crazy, is still a person with feelings and morals.

Barty who Bellatrix convinces to help her torture Frank and Alice Longbottom for Voldemort.

Barty who has tortured people before and does so again without hesitation, but when he finds little baby Neville, he feels bad about what he's done. Almost regrets it.

Barty who goes home to Evan with a baby in his arms.

Evan who, while very much surprised, is also used to Barty's crazy, impulsive decisions at this point but also what the fuck.

Barty and Evan who are surprisingly good parents despite their own shitty upbringings.
