Super Mario Bros: Vanilla Islands - The Adventure Continues
Wow....I'm now a bit behind on posting updates here. I'm already halfway through World 2 now!

Here's 1-3 AKA Rex in Effect. Let me start by apologizing for the lack of rump shaking here. All the Rexes wanna do is zoom-a-zoom-zoom...RIGHT INTO YOU!

1-4 Morton Koopa Jr.'s Castle This is where I hit my first snag in the development process. I originally planned to use the original Morton boss from the game, only for it to be incompatible with my custom HUD. The background flickered, and Morton himself was invisible. I ended up using the n00b Sprite template to make my own custom Morton boss that would work. At first, it almost didn't. Its movement was extremely janky, and defeating it would soft-lock the player on the goal screen. It turned out that the problem with the latter wasn't the boss itself, but a hex edit I did to fix issues with HDMA gradients disappearing during the circular fade-outs at the ends of normal levels, as well as when Message Boxes were triggered. The edit disabled the normal level fade-out, but also affected the code that allowed boss levels to send the player back to the Overworld when completed. The jank in the boss' movement was equally simple to fix. It turns out that one of the commands I put in was completely unnecessary. Older versions of the boss template I used required a JSR Move command to make the boss actually move. This version doesn't, instead just using a speed value set in a table to determine whether or not the boss moves. This is probably a much more efficient way of coding this sort of thing, but I'm not much of an actual coder.

Sand in my Shoe
It's a pretty standard desert level, complete with Pokeys.

Diggin' On You
Remember the sand-digging bits from Super Mario Bros. 2? This level centers around that gimmick. A video is being uploaded as I type this, and I'll post that when it's done.
