Hey remember that a boycott if actually MORE effective under capitalism if you profess you would actually end the boycott under certain conditions.
“Nothing this company does can make up for their bad actions, I will never buy from them again!” Okay so they’ve lost you as a customer and have no reason to try and get you back. You can HOPE to drive them into bankruptcy but Chic-Fil-A is evidence of how well that works.
“This company did something bad. I would not consider buying their product again, UNLESS, they publicly apologized and made up for it by … [donating money to a cause, promoting different content, offering better care to their employees, etc.]” This is actually MORE likely to be effective because if enough people say this, the company m sees them as potential customers of a certain demographic, and is willing to make changes to get those customers back and, long term, make money from them.

my brother had a brilliant idea that i wanted to share with other people who have four-legged family members: he trained our two cats to go directly to the door when they hear the fire alarm.
obviously at first the fire alarm sent them scrambling for cover, but he started slowly by giving them treats whenever it went off, when someone burned food or forgot to open the fireplace flu. he then progressed to calling them to the door to offer treats immediately after the alarm went off. and it actually wasn't too long before the cats voluntarily started going to the door upon hearing the alarm.
i think this was genius because in the event of a real emergency we know exactly where the cats will be and we will not have to waste precious time trying to find them to rescue them. i think this method would work equally well with dogs and probably other free-roaming pets such as rabbits, ferrets, etc. and i certainly encourage others to give it a shot!

I don't think I've told any of you about my grandmother's hilarious prank on her neighbor
so my grandmother is a very small, very blonde English lady living in the US, and so people usually also describe has as very sweet, but the truth is that she's very polite. I don't know that I'd necessarily call her sweet
the other thing you need to know is that she will sometimes just fuck with you for fun. not to be mean! but she will just outright lie to you to see if you catch her (it was a game between her and my dad and me when I was little, to see if I could catch them doing it, it was great for my development of skepticism)
anyway, her neighbor (who she quite likes) planted some hydrangeas and was complaining that they weren't flowering and he couldn't figure out why. and he kept complaining and finally she said to his wife "hold on I have an idea, this is going to be great"
so she snuck out one night and filled the bush with fake hydrangea blossoms, and the next morning he was THRILLED that they'd all come in so suddenly, and all the neighbors came around to tell him how wonderful they were and asked him for tips. nobody clocked that they were fake. see, her other grand hobby is floral arrangements, so she just used really nice fake flowers and arranged them naturally and nobody was catching on
she had the neighbor's wife suddenly realized it had gotten out of hand so they gently told him and he laughed his head off, but he left them until it got cold and just played along, because again nobody was figuring it out
well this year the bush didn't flower again so he asked his wife to ask my grandmother to put them back again, because he wants the rest of the neighborhood to think they came in lovely again. I said she should start a service and do outdoor floral arrangements lmfao

"exercise will give you more energy" gets said a lot as a common piece of health advice but I think it needs to be expanded into "exercising will make you tired while you do it, and you will continue to be tired immediately afterwards, sometimes even the next day too, but over months of consistent exercise, your muscles will get stronger and therefore get less tired out by everyday activities, making you feel like day-to-day life takes less physical energy than it used to"

What color would you describe the matcha skirts as? I recently got some olive/forest/taiga green pants to start a brown/woodsy set of outfits, and I'm curious how well the matcha would fit with it once I could afford one!
This is maybe gonna sound silly or sarcastic, but I'd truly describe it as "matcha green". The color was color-dropper-picked from this actual cup of matcha I made, haha
The pictures of both skirts are pretty true-to-life of what the color looks like as well:

(you can tell in a side by side especially from the background that the lighting was cooler when I took the maxi pic and warmer when i took the midi pic, but they're both the same skirt color. this is just because i use natural light, so it varies based on conditions) Looking at other color names, I'd say it's closest to "Brunswick green". It's on the cooler side of green compaired to olive/forest/taiga, more leaning towards cyan-tinted than brown-tinted. But still, I don't see why it wouldn't be able to fit it.

I had a wild dream last night.
In the dream some women had done something wrong (something about disturbing and artist who then had done something wrong in a religious artwork or something) and now the church had decided they needed to ask for forgiveness. But they revealed that they had actually already done so while praying at home, which had the church official (+ some people implied to be here only for a bit, coming from heaven or something) angry/worried.
They were really trying to question whether the women had done it right, and then found out that the women had at some point in the process needed to specify "cash or credit", and the youngest of them had said "cash". Now the priests were fighting to figure out whether that was an established heresy, a new one, or just plain dumb.
At his point the angel character decided to just go check out the area while he was on Earth. My POV just sat in the room listening to this discussion but not taking any of it in cause the girls were too hot to focus.
#all of this was also in like#larp costume and 'this church was built in a day for a week long larp event' setting#like one person was wearing a kirtle and flip-flops#dream#religion#christianity#original post

This guy is my new hero. I LOVE learning about native food plants that just grow everywhere without human help.
The database is a little clunky to use (especially on a phone), but still loads of excellent information.
