Turns out that the Aging Devil might be a mistranslation and the Japanese government isn't making the insanely stupid decision to end the concept of aging.

Credit to Reddit user u/DutifulCleric over on the CSM subreddit for pointing out that it could be the Old Age Devil instead which is a very different thing.

Getting it eaten won't stop people from aging, just from getting old. And now it makes sense why it wants 10,000 children to die in front of it, it wants to see youth die.

This might also not be a solely selfish decision by the old wrinkly ass higher ups, or more likely, Public Safety is using the higher ups selfishness to achieve their goal. The fear of getting old is a big part of the fear of dying. If life lost that inevitability, the Death Devil would lose a lot of its strength.

i'm just curious how many people here know about it and like it, since i don't see RepComm / Delta Squad stuff too often here on tumblr.

(to be faaaiiiirrrr, the game is literally 20 years old lol. and while the characters have shown up in disney canon media [see below], the game itself is still considered Legends material.)

^ all four members of Delta Squad appearing briefly in The Clone Wars S3 E14 "Witches of the Mist." They're escorting the bodies of a Jedi master and his padawan who were just slaughtered by Savage Oppress.

^ Scorch will later reappear without his squadmates in The Bad Batch S1 E14 "War-Mantle." He's seen more often in TBB S2 and S3 alongside Dr Hemlock on Tantiss.

(MAJOR SPOILER BELOW IF YOU HAVEN'T PLAYED THE GAME / WATCHED A PLAYTHROUGH VIDEO)

We never "see" anyone resembling Boss, Fixer, or Sev ever again in any disney canon shows or movies. (not 100% sure about the disney comics or books but I don't think so either.)

There are Legends-continuity Republic Commando books where, i'm fairly certain, we do see Delta Squad again outside of the video game.

In the game (Legends), Sev goes "missing in action" during an attack on Kashyyyk (closer to the end of the war, i think) and Delta Squad is ordered to leave without him. To my knowledge, he's never been officially declared "dead" in any lore, just "missing in action," leaving many fans hopeful of his return one day!

Posting this separate from the rest of the post cuz 1. Don't wanna accidentally spoil TMA for delusionalpockets if they do end up listening to it and 2. the "maybe the real Ceaseless Watcher was the fandom we made along the way" has WAY too many notes as-is and I want this masterpiece to stand apart from it.

also I need to do more fearpocalypse drawings because I'm genuinely really proud of how the actual hellscape itself ended up. I don't think I've seen a “barbed wire fence as the horizon” thing before, which is really fun for several reasons (panopticon being a prison tower, humanity being imprisoned by the Entities after the Change, the megalophobia aspect of it, etc.) and I'm really proud of the idea :D
