Since we have received no real glimpse, as of yet, as to what transpired on Lian Yui immediately post explosion ( other than for Oliver to find Thea and Samantha), do any of you think it is possible we will get this glimpse during 6.18 ( if the hallucination spec holds up) ?

Oliverdant | What’s next...

I have been a superfan of just Arrow for 8 years… Now, the series is over  and it’s time to move on [hard words] ...  I still love blogging and I’d like to keep using this platform to keep creating, sharing and discussing  interesting content, but from now on it will be about other topics and activities I’ve always enjoyed and I could not share before... Not that I would not discuss comics and TV (that I still love) or follow up with some of my Arrow favorites, but I want to amplify the scope of what I post and explore new things.

First, I want to thank every single one of my followers for the unconditional support you offered me during these years, I feel proud when I say that I’ve always had a great time blogging on Tumblr…. Here I learned a lot about fandoms, communities, influencers and also how to manage and navigate better the harsh environment that is our beloved Internet.

To tell you the truth, there were times (Arrow Season 4, for example) when I just wanted to quit and speak about other topics, but well I decided to stick to the promise of the blog and continued posting just because...  I love Oliver Queen

Unfortunately, the show is over so I want to share are some details of the Plan B for my blog:

The content of the blog will revolve about my favorite topics and  also everything that gives me joy. I warn you I am a bit nerdy so, expect a bit of science content too....

Hi friends,

I know I’ve been MIA lately and I’m sorry. This season of Arrow, I’ve felt very detached from the show. Much like season 6, the characters and storylines haven’t felt like what I fell in love with. I disagree with how so many things have been handled, so I’ve been staying off tumblr and just watched the show on my own and corresponded with the fandom a bit via twitter. For me, Oliver Queen has changed completely since he revealed himself as GA, Felicity Smoak has essentially been kept in the apartment the entirety of 7B, John Diggle is a shadow of what he used to be (I sure hope that’s changing after last episode!), the focus of NTA (especially Dinah Drake) has been completely unnecessary and unwelcomed, the constant use of cotton mouth Ricardo Diaz (bye, bye!), and the flash forwards make no sense. The only light of this season has been seeing Felicity be the badass Queen I know she is in 7A and 7x14, Olicity scenes and finding out that our amazing power couple really does have a daughter that we all have been hoping and wishing for. But really, what is the payoff of Mia when the future looks so bleak? Our lead may be dead in the future, Mia doesn’t know her father or her brother, Star City is in ruins, Felicity and John are no where to be found, and Rene is MAYOR?? That’s not a future I think any of us want.

But despite all of my disappointment about this season and last, when the news broke yesterday about S8 being its last, I (like many of you I’m sure) cried. I cried because knowing that characters I love so fiercely are never again going to pop up on my screen after the next 18 episodes, hurts. Saying goodbye to Oliver Queen, Felicity Smoak, and John Diggle, hurts. Knowing we’ll never get a new Olicity scene after 8x10, hurts. I’m not ready to say goodbye to characters I love so, so much. I’m honestly completely devastated. But I also know that ending after S8 is the right move. Much like John Diggle this season, the show has been a shadow of its former self the last two seasons. It’s better to go out with a bang, then drag the show out and have it go on forever. My one hope is that they end this series the way they started it. With OTA. They always have and always will be the heart of the show, and I pray the writers know and honor that. I also pray the writers give Oliver and Felicity what they deserve - a happy ending.

So, with all of that being said, I want to say thank you to all of you. I joined this fandom back in 2017 after binging the hell out of the first five seasons. I had this blog and used it for all different fandoms, but officially turned it into an Olicity blog after corresponding with all of you and seeing the same passion I have for Arrow and this incredible couple we have been so lucky to have had the last seven years. All of you were so wonderful and welcoming. The videos, fan fiction, gifs, and photos you all create is always astonishingly beautiful. I hope you continue it after Arrow ends. I think we’re all going to need it! I’m truly thankful to have had all of you the last two years to be happy, confused, sad, angry, and surprised with. Because of that, I’ve decided that I’m coming back to enjoy the last 18 episodes with you all. To laugh and cry and cry some more, because you know we will be doing ALOT before the end of this amazing run!

It was late, last night. I had just gotten into bed, when my brain decided to start theorising about Arrow. It’s 2am Brain! Let me sleep, dammit!

Anyhow, let’s see what I can remember lol.

It started out about Stan the fan. @nalla-madness and @almondblossomme had been talking about whether Stan was ‘the demon’ and I was leaning towards 'yes’. The last couple of seasons have made me very suspicious about new characters on this show. They either turn out to be badly written, hypocritical assholes. Or they’re evil. So chances are that Stan is in one of those two categories for me.

However, I suddenly remembered that we are in a new age of Arrow. With a new showrunner. (Praise Beth) I no longer go to bed ranting about stupid Arrow writers messing up my favourite show. I go to bed trying to figure out what the hell is going to happen this season on the show! Progress.

My theory, you ask?

Stan is NOT The Demon.

He’s actually a genuinely good guy and Green Arrow fanboy. They exist! Who knew?

The writers just want us to think he’s fishy to keep us away from what is really going on this season.

DIAZ IS NOT THE BIG BAD THIS SEASON.

There.

I said it.

I think he’s going to be around for a while, because he is crucial to Oliver’s Redemption. But he is NOT the big bad.

Oliver lost the city and failed to stop Diaz last season. This season he won’t. Being in prison will give him a new perspective on criminals. One that he will apply to dealing with Diaz.

Oliver will finally defeat his worst enemy. No. Not Diaz. Don’t make me laugh.

Oliver’s worst enemy is himself. Diaz is his monster made flesh. Defeat Diaz and he will finally shed that weight. He will finally be able to fully embrace being a true hero in the light.

So, back to Stan and what is really going on this season. Who is the big bad this season?

ARGUS.

I’ve been banging this drum for a while now and it’s really starting to come together. In my head, anyway. I’m excited. If the show is really going down this path, I am all in.

ARGUS has always been shown to be a shady organisation. They do some good, but more and more I’ve come to believe, that the future that Legends of Tomorrow showed us last season will come to fruition on our show.

I’m not talking about the future where Old Man Oliver only had one arm and was hiding in the bunker.

I’m talking about the future Zari comes from. A future where ARGUS had taken over the government. Where Anti-Meta laws were enforced and experiments were taking place on prisoners.

This season we’ve seen the show move more players over to ARGUS. We now have Lyla, John, and Curtis working there. We’ve seen Lyla suspicious of her superiors. We’ve heard that we’ll see more about ARGUS hierarchy being anti vigilantes this season.

So how does Stan fit into all this?

In the premiere, Stan mentioned that he had been framed for murder. Again, my first thought was suspicion. But what if he was genuinely set up? By ARGUS.

We don’t know enough of his backstory yet. We don’t know who he is. Why would ARGUS set him up? I don’t know the answer yet. It could be so they had a mole. Told him to get close to Oliver and report back. Or it could be because of something more sinister.

In the promo for 7x04 we see Oliver getting shot up with something as he moves down to Level 2. It could be completely harmless. Or it could be part of ARGUS’s experiments.

I’m starting to think that Oliver is in Slabside for a reason…because ARGUS put him there. They wanted him there. To experiment on him. This is the beginning of their underground operation. Slabside in the comics is a meta human prison. We haven’t seen any Metas yet. Although, both Brick and Sampson had some kind of super strength at one point. Also, I vaguely recall that there were some metas who were not in Central City when the particle accelerater exploded. Could it be ARGUS is behind it?

And now Diaz is injecting himself with super strength. We know that Diaz somehow fights Oliver in prison. Could ARGUS then decide to keep him there. Could this be why he’s a season regular this year? He and Oliver swap places.

The book 'The Count of Monte Cristo’ has been subtly referenced quite a lot so far this season. I think it was @almondblossomme who theorised that Oliver would fake his death to escape prison just like in the book. I think this could be a possibility. If Oliver is being experimented on, he could fake himself dead after a procedure gone wrong. He knows how to fake die. Remember season 1?

Maybe something will happen to Stan and Oliver couldn’t save him. So he promises to get justice for his friend. He looks into what happened to Stan once out of prison, and learns of ties to ARGUS. Leading him on a collision course with John.

John needs a wake up call and this could very well be it. John stays working as a double agent. And later in the season the truth is revealed. ARGUS rise. They take over military style, and Oliver becomes the leader of the resistance.

The New Green Arrow

Who is he/she?

I’m still going with Emiko Queen; Oliver’s half sister.

The list?

Could it have something to do with ARGUS? Could there be a connection?

The Future.

Why is Roy on the island?

Because ARGUS took over.

He asked William who sent him.

He thought it was ARGUS.

Why would Oliver and Felicity just leave William?

Because they were being hunted by ARGUS.

Why would William have all this money?

Because he works for ARGUS.

Why would Maya, possibly Queen, be anti vigilante?

Because she works for ARGUS and hunts them.

That’s all I’ve got. And can I just say that I started out just thinking about who Stan could be. Everything else just seemed to start connecting as I was writing it lol.

It’s just a theory. I’m probably completely wrong. Maybe it’s because I refuse to believe that they are going to continue a full season of boring snooze fest Diaz. I don’t buy it. Not even Beth can sell it to me. It just doesn’t work.

Olicity’s Trope-tastic Awards

I love Olicity. I love tropes. I love recognizing fanfic authors. And I love award shows! So I was wondering how I could combine all of these awesome things...and here we are! 

The idea is that each week, we’ll give a trope. You can either write something to fit the trope or you can “nominate” Olicity fanfic that already exists. We can have multiple different categories like “fic of the week,” “best plot twist,” “best use of prompt,” “most creative take,” etc. Hopefully this way, we can celebrate more than just one story as a “winner.” If anyone would like to help come up with some favorite tropes (since I love all of them and we’d be doing this for 5 years if it was only up to me) that’d be awesome! Or if you’re not a writer, but you love to read fic and give awesome, nice feedback, I’d LOVE to have multiple people reading the fics and helping to decide which ones to pick.

Just another idea to keep us all entertained this hiatus! I’ll tag some pals (and you can tag some pals and so on), please let me know if it’s something you’d be interested in participating in! Thoughts on Season 7 Storytelling Technique

In lieu of trying to wipe the season 6 finale from my mind, I have been thinking a lot about the new season 7 storytelling technique that Stephen has been alluding to recently. I know everyone is speculating that it is a flashforward of sorts, but this almost seems too obvious to me. So I stared thinking ,”what do I really want to see from this point on in Arrow?”- and I came up with this,” I want to see what is truly going on in the hearts and minds of the characters” Specifically, Oliver/Felicity/and Dig. I don’t know if this is a storytelling technique, but what if, instead of flash forwards , we got dream sequences or wish sequences from the hearts and minds of Oliver and Felicity specifically. They are walking 2 parallel but separate and connected storylines next season for what may be close to 1/3 to 1/2 of it. I think it would be sooo interesting to see the wishes of their hearts and the musings of their thoughts/ souls as they go through the trials and tribulations of being separated physically but still united in every other way. ( maybe this explains the baby reference that DR made at HVFF - not an actual occurrence in present time/ not an actual flash forward to the future/ but a wish or desire by either Oliver or Felicity of where they had hoped their love and lives together would lead them) it doesn’t mean that the baby won’t happen in the future , but it doesn’t commit the Arrow writers to providing it either next season.

Final thoughts- I am so tired of Arrow sacrificing character growth and focus for plot action- the action sequences have become boring and monotonous to me. I can only watch Oliver beat the crap out of the “bad guys” so much without wishing and wanting something so much more deeper from the show that I have come to know and love over the past 6 seasons. I WANT TO SEE OLIVER AND FELICITY( and Dig) from the inside out. I want their hearts, minds and souls laid bared to me. We have not gotten that in so long. I have great hope that Beth Schwartz and the new writers will bring this back to Arrow!!

Arrow 7x16 FULL ON FREAK OUT:

So I think people either loved or hated 7x16, depending on whether or not we are into the Flash Forwards or not. I LOVED IT. And honestly I DON'T KNOW HOW I AM SUPPOSED TO CONTINUE TO LIVE AFTER THAT OPENING.

I don’t have coherent thoughts yet, so here’s just a list of things that murdered me I loved:

WHEN WE SEE IN THE REFLECTION THAT HE LAYS HIS HEAD AGAINST HERS.

"I love you so much." / "I love you so much. I'll love you even more after this baby's out of me." AND HIS SMILE AT FELICITY BEING FELICITY.

AND THE WAY HE KISSES HER HEAD, FOR SOOO LONG! (3x09 parallels my heart!)

AND THE HANDS! THE HANDS! I KNEW ABOUT THE HANDS YET I WAS STILL NOT PREPARED!!

AND THEN THEIR FACES WHEN THEY SEE MIA OH GOD!!!!!!!!!

and yes, obviously this poses a bunch of questions about what happened to Thea and Roy, but I believe (since Roy is clearly a part of the story they’re telling here) that that will be addressed

AND JUST can we please appreciate this that NO MATTER WHAT Felicity had Nyssa by her side all these years!? Like, maybe not living next door, but Nyssa definitely was a regular presence and just WOW. How awesome for both of them. 💗😭💗😭

And CAN WE PLEASE HAVE FELICITY WITH THAT QUASI-2x08 HAIRSTYLE IN THE PRESENT PLEASE!?!? I LOVE IT! I want to see more of it in season 7!!!

I think a lot of people aren’t liking Mia’s attitude? I want to be clear that I LOVE HER!. I do agree that Mia's tantrum at Felicity was a little fast...and super overblown, but whatever. There’s more to the story than we’re seeing. She’s clearly felt isolated her whole life and probably felt a little betrayed by her mom’s secret. We’ll probably find out more about their relationship, but even if we don’t, whatever. It’s a means to an end and I choose to just go with it.

(oh and btw confirmation that Felicity isn’t dead. Big duh. Better confirmation: SHE IS WEARING HER WEDDING RING. 🙌🙌🙌)

The fact that Felicity financed William’s startup is both

not surprising, like we were expecting something like that all along, but also

MURDERING ME WITH FEELS because like he thought she abandoned him ��� and that he was alone 😭 and that she didn’t care 😭 and like 😭😭😭😭

AND THEN MIA SAYS "Guess she might have been watching over you, after all” and honestly WTF HOW DARE!?!?!?!?!

AND THE FACT THAT WILLIAM HUGS HER AND FORGIVES HER AND CHOOSES TO FIGHT WITH HER IS JUST 😭 And they are really going with this redemption theme in all directions and UGHHHHH it’s not FAIR

OKAY SO I’m going to put a pin in this: "For once in your life, mom, put your family first." because

I DO NOT LIKE THAT. 

"Being a hero means choosing other people's safety above your own." I DO NOT LIKE THAT AT ALL.

I DO NOT LIKE WHAT IT SUGGESTS

and I DO NOT LIKE THE LACK OF GROWTH BECAUSE

MOST DEFINITELY THAT IS NOT WHAT BEING A HERO MEANS

and I think there’s more to it that than, and I know we’ll see it soon, and in short

Felicity introducing Mia to the riff raff was 100% badass: "This is Mia. These are mine and Oliver's impeccable genetics." just the perfect blend of sass, wit, pride (in her daughter), and (I think) pride in her and Oliver 😍 Could not have been more perfect.

FELICITY IN THE FIELD WITH THE TEAM, WITH HER CHILDREN!? Just go ahead and murder me some more, okay??? 😭 And Felicity in the green mask. And all three of them being so fucking badass. And such a good team. 

“Overwatch. No one’s called me Overwatch in a very long time.” 😩😭😩😭

also William handing Felicity down the stairs is such an Oliver move and OH GOD MY EMOTIONS!

WHAT A FAMILY! The Queen (Smoak-Clayton) Clan IN THE FIELD 😱😱😱 CAN YOU IMAGINE WHEN (yes, when) WE FINALLY GET OLIVER TO COMPLETE THE LINE-UP!?!? I WILL DIE.

And finally, I just need a very big moment of appreciation for when Felicity says: "There's always another way."

BECAUSE I CANNOT HELP IT I AM A SUCKER FOR RECURRING THEMES AND THAT ONE IS MY FAVORITE

Felicity as the one who showed Oliver that there’s another way, and then her way became his way, and that hope, that optimism, IT IS AN ESSENTIAL PART OF THEM 😩😩😩

And then the final scene with Mia and Felicity.....................YALL. I CANNOT SPEAK OF IT. Just 😭😭😭😭😭😭

So anyway, to wrap up, my very loose, not-thoroughly-vetted spec for the rest of the flash forwards this season (contains spec and spoilers):

I do not believe Oliver is dead, at all. The way they speak of him in 7x16 (in the present tense, without any “reverence” that you would reserve for a fallen hero, etc.) only make me more certain of this.

furthermore, I don’t think there’s much of a mystery as far as Oliver is concerned in the future. I think it’s only a mystery to the audience. Again, no one seems particularly concerned about him in the future.

this leads me to believe that he’s alive, but that people have made “mental peace” with his status. I think this means he’s thought to be either a) EVIL or b) CRAZY and that he might be believed to be locked up or in some other way neutralized.

but I also believe that that’s UNTRUE and only what Oliver and Felicity want people to believe; I think they’re working on something together, whether taking down Galaxy One or something even bigger.

BTW I still think most of this episode tracks with this spec.

my main question being that, if Galaxy One and the Ninth Circle are basically the same, then it wouldn’t make sense for Felicity to have said that “this is not about Oliver.” So...questions remain. We’ll definitely find out sooner rather than later.

So coming up with have the Canaries episode, where we’ll possibly wrap up Black Siren’s storyline...which would explain her absence in the future.

and everyone wants to know WHERE IS JOHN DIGGLE: well, I predict John’s upcoming episode (Spartan - is it 7x19? I think?) is when we’ll finally see him in the future, I think. Bit clearly he has something to do with the anti-Argus group, and clearly that will stem directly from the 7x19 storyline that will deal with John/Lyla/Argus/Ben Turner/baby Connor/John’s dad??

Happy Thanksgiving to all my fabulous American friends! I am so grateful that I joined this fandom. I’ve been here for about a year and a half now, and have nothing but kind things to say. Discussing Arrow theories/our amazing power couple/the two fantastic people who play them and reading the extraordinary fan fiction/gifs/videos you create has been and will continue to be a highlight for me. Husband, Baby (A 618 Overview)

Well, I’ve added 618 to a small list of favorite episodes this season. I don’t include them getting married on this list, because you know, endgame. The other great episode that captured me was 604, Reversal.

I can’t say which one was the best. Both were equally well written and acted. In Reversal, it was really fun watching Oliver in the Overwatch chair guiding Felicity while she shined out in the field. It was an episode that brought them full circle. It was tender and chock full of Olicity moments. It was also the last episode in which Oliver and Felicity came close to some really hot, potential sexual play (before once again being interrupted by a damn phone.)

618, on the other hand, went beyond any kind of sexual intimacy and hit the heart strings in a loving, verbal assault that left a lot of fans dead from endgame overload. We have Felicity to thank for that. Her speech to Oliver in the police station was nothing short of amazing. But I will get to that moment in a few minutes. I must take my hat off to the Arrow writers for taking a break from putting the plot ahead of the characters and letting them emerge once again. Oliver/Stephen Amell took the lead on this and gave an amazing performance. And having his subconscious come out in the shade of Adrian Chase was short of brilliant. Josh stepped right back into the evil mold of the series best villain, in my opinion. It was fun watching Oliver have those conversations with him, as if our hero was split in two---the lost, abandoned man who felt so alone and the side of him that knows himself and offers himself large doses of truth tea.

The Vertigo hallucinations were inspired. Is it real, it is drug-induced, is it right or wrong?  The little clues given, such as the banging noises and Felicity’s wedding ring, kept me engrossed as the episode unfolded. It was a collusion of reality mixing with fantasy as Oliver took himself back to basics. His interactions with Felicity, and especially with William, gave me a glimpse into Oliver’s doubts as events outside his family challenged him, taking him back to the mindset he had at the beginning of his journey. Everybody was in play as he trudged through the Vertigo waves surging through his senses. His outburst at Felicity and William as everything was piling up on him was almost surreal. We know how much Oliver loves his son and his wife. Since the season started, Oliver has shown a lot of patience when it came to William. He had taken the right steps in integrating the boy into his life. And Felicity was right with him, at times guiding him and encouraging him to embrace fatherhood. So when Oliver lost his temper with both of them, it was like watching the last six years of Oliver’s trials and tribulations coming out in a shout of apotheosis. There was shock value as Oliver yelled at William. It was heartbreaking and admirable when Felicity told her husband to get out. It was her motherly instinct to protect William from that side of Oliver’s persona; the mask and the man, who apparently is still struggling with each another.

I’m still not overly excited by Diaz. But I do have to acknowledge that scene when he killed Raisa and then plunged a knife into Oliver. There was no doubt that the whole sequence was all in Oliver’s drugged mind. It was his subconscious fear of Diaz filling him as he dropped to the floor and began to bleed out. Powerful.

But for me, the best part of the episode was Felicity learning that her husband was out there drifting away in his loneliness as the Vertigo consumed him. She became single-minded as she sprinted to him to rescue him from himself. Her run through the streets of Star City to the police station was a great scene. It showed the determination in her strides. When she reached Lance and made sure he was going to be okay, Felicity gave us a great shout out with her “I’ve got to go save my husband” declaration. Probably like a lot of other fans, I felt her purpose and was 1000 percent behind her going to get her man.

Inside the police station, it wasn’t hard to locate her husband. Just follow the bodies left in his wake. When she stopped him from opening that door, with Diaz and death waiting behind it, I could feel her building up the courage to bring Oliver back to her. When Oliver told her he couldn’t tell if she was real or not, Felicity delivered one her best speeches of the entire series. She was not to be denied. She found her way through Oliver’s Vertigo defenses and took his fragile psyche into her soul, a place where both of them have found common ground and the protection of their love for one another.

“I’m not going anywhere. I’m glue, baby.”  What a great line. Straight out of fanfiction. She finally reached him when she touched his heart and told him to listen to his own. Oliver listened. And when he finally shook himself free from the Vertigo and put his hand over hers, it was amazing watching the light she brings to his life began to fill his eyes and brighten the smile on his face. After holding my breath through most the episode, I was able to let it out as these two came back together, as Felicity saved her husband from letting himself take the risk of facing Diaz and certain death. When he took her into his arms and zip-lined them out of harm’s way; it was like a gift given to me as they disappeared through the glass ceiling above them. It was another wonderful moment of teamwork, as crime-fighting partners and as husband and wife.

Back in the Bunker, when Mayor Lance told Felicity how gutsy it was for her to go into the station with Diaz’s army inside, Felicity shrugged it off and simplified things by telling him, “Yeah, well my man was inside.” It could have been a prelude to another passionate moment beneath the salmon ladder, but Lance’s presence was playing the part of being another annoying phone ringing.

I am kind of behind Oliver’s decision to go it alone. His odyssey through the drug-influenced hallucinations showed him that he needed to get back in touch with the person who found the conviction to start his crusade in the first place. It wasn’t that he was abandoning Felicity and her own lifetime commitment to him and his awesome superhero adventure; it was Oliver needing to regain his focus and take the fight to his enemies, no matter how unbearably hard it might be. As Felicity told him in 519, it’s what makes him who he is. He is not abandoning his family; he is making sure that they can continue to be safe in their home.

So, I guess what this episode really showed me was the theme of this season---family.  Oliver might have to leave them temporarily as his legal troubles could possibly put him in jail, but however it plays out, and whenever the other members of Team Arrow find their own answers and decide that Oliver needs them to have his back---he is still going to be out there fighting the good fight. Oliver Queen and the Green Arrow is Star City’s salvation. He is its protector. He is the hero it deserves.

Is Felicity going to be pregnant, if she isn’t already? Too soon? Not soon enough? Is it, you know---genetics? If Oliver is destined to be alone at the end of this season---what a great way to reward him, and Felicity too, with another life that they can nurture and protect.  And if they add Felicity and her company becoming a reality, it seems that their story will come full circle.

Maybe this time, it will be Felicity traveling down multiple floors to discuss how they spend their nights together.

TV Couples from the 90′s

I was shipping before I knew what shipping was.  I loved couples that overcame obstacles  to be together.  In no particular here’s a few early TV couples I loved to watch in the 90′s.
