another instalment into my lil series of fan-posters for the animated shorts featuring the Merry Club : D I figured I'd do poster-pieces like these for all the shorts, since there aren't too many of those either way and I quite like them all ajhkjhsj

This particular short - called "Pencil is sick" - is probably the shortest of them in terms of length; fittingly it is included in a small cartoon anthology/compilation with a few other unrelated shorts.

The plot here is appropriately very simple (albeit massively exaggerated, in my personal headcanon ajsjksh): Pencil breaks his nose while drawing, quickly growing sick. His club-mates all suggest their own ways of curing him, but none seem to work as everyone's propositions stem from their personal visions of what would help their leader best - and not what would work best for him. Ultimately, the Merry-clubbers call a doctor who is able to find a perfect solution to the problem... by sharpening the patient's nose : )

I personally headcanon that Pen is simply being a drama king (per usual of him) in this short and hasn't really been suffering THAT much from his nose being broken. my man's just wanted a break ajhksjhs. understandably. He is the club's president after all, he gets to solve everyone else's problems all the time.

«League of Redheads»-2: №4 – Captain Zelyony

Melancholic spaceship mechanic (a captain in the movie) Zelyony and the skliss from “The Mystery of the Third Planet” (1981) sci-fi animated movie based on the book “Alice’s Travel” by Kir Bulychev.

June 10th marked Souzmultfilm's - the staple Soviet/Russian animation studio, - 89th anniversary, and coincidentally I've finished working on this fan-poster for "At 3:15 Sharp", one of the more well-known animated shorts featuring the Merry Club's cast (minus Thumbelina tho, boys had all the fun ;-;) made by this studio < D

The plot of said short is simple: the Club is invited to give a concert at a children's summer camp, but their ride through the woods quickly turns awry when the car breaks down... So the Club have to find another way to reach the camp all together in time for the concert - at 3:15 sharp. : )

It's a charming short, beautifully animated per usual for the studio's works in the 50-60s and every character gets to shine there, even the less "popular" members of the cast!

The whole short is up on youtube (I couldn't find the subtitled version one for the love of me, but the automated subtitles do the job fine too) (maybe it's a sign I finally need to do the subtitles by myself ahskjhsjhs), if old-timely/vintage animation is your thing. : D
