you both playing this little, game every time you grace the monstro lounge with your presence.

the tea game, he muses to himself one day.

sitting you down in a cicular booth facing the giant aquarium, jade would hand you a small, black leather menu and the monstro’s signature plum leather menu. both having gold dipped edged you’d use to peel them open and look at their insides.

the smaller menu, the one you would only get and your friends would crowd around you once it was in your hands, trying to peer inside at it’s secrets- was a special menu.

a secret one.

only jade and azul had the authority to give out these menus- floyd showing time and time again that he’d hand them out just to screw with the two, had his privileges revoked.

it always made jade smile when he’d set down your special meal, your friends eyes lighting up the cool, dim lighting of the resturant. their eyes hubgrily eating up every detail of the dish.

while your two friends from heartslabyul were stuck with the ‘surf ‘n turf,’ you were out here eating like a king.

jade’s quick, gloved hands ready to slap away any sticky fingers- paws that tried eating from your plate. his plate.

jade could care less about the roasted lamb, or the fish heads packed with flavors.

your relationship blossomed from tea. the leaves that jade would expertly mix and seep into a perfect blend for each customer. his own inventions being placed on the secret menu, or promotions for a monstro event that had the customers vying for more.

jade would watch with a baited breath as you took a sip, lashes fluttering closed so you could focus on your taste buds.

a scrunched face meant you didn’t like it, lifted brows meant you were pleasantly surprised, and when you would swoosh it around your mouth like mouth wash? well, that meant jade had won.

the first few tomes you were at the lounge you would order a different tea and a light snack- sometimes a salad and other times 3 whole crabs for you and grim. jade remembers that day, when it was you 5 in a booth, very clearly.

have you heard about the joke where you, grim, and 3 crabs walked into a bar?

besides the point-

jade was watching you scan the menu, a stink on your face as you were stuck on the teas.

he remembers floyd calling you ‘weird’ when jade brought the order to the kitchen. ‘who orders tea with crab?’ his face contorted in disgust as a minnow swims around floyd. he always had a way of bending his environments to his will.

but jade just stares at the ticket, “yes,” he says, “how weird indeed”

“oi get that creepy smile off yer face. yer creep’n me out”

as usual jade seeps your tea and you drink it. he knows you. your tea.

there’s something so intimate about knowing exactly how someone likes their tea that gives jade satisfaction.

you put your trust in his hands. his cynical, conniving hands.

he could spit in your tea ya know. he’s done it before to especially annoying customers. who think they’re in control because he’s serving them. mix up with a pinch of salt, or a dash of sriracha sauce and he’s grinning ear to ear as they down it.

but he’d never do that to you.. he hopes he doesn’t have to anyways.

it takes you 3 more visits and a menu change to finally convince azul to let you in on the monstro’s little secret.

jade, as he brags, harassed azul to put more teas on the menu. when he did add 2 more jade deemed it, ‘not good enough.’ azul buying into it (for profit) added teas to the daily specials.

“not good enough. i have an audience to apease and you are stifling my creative endeavors. i will not tolerate such a-“

“just give her the menu jade! sevens above!-“

if jade leech ever did skip, he’d be on his way over with a hop in his step and a click of his heel.

so you can obviously imagine his grin as he places the leather book in your mitts, your friends asking where theirs is- only to get ignored.

“please do not share the contents inside with other parties. this is strictly for our monstro vip’s and will be confiscated if you cannot follow our rules.” he bows in thanks as you voice your agreement.

turning his heel he can practically hear the chaos ensuing as your friends try reaching and peeking.

“tropical darljeeng, wonder how’ll it’ll work” you grin as jade jots down your order. you had told him to give you whatever he wanted to give you. ‘dealers choice’ to be more specific.

…what jade won’t ever tell anyone is that he made that tea thinking of you.

it was a black tea, infused with an opposing flavor. tropical against a woodiness

, you and him. a child of the sea and child of the land. never meant to work and mix yet has a unique addicting flavor to it.

non tea enjoyers would know that darjeeling is more… robust.

it can turn off people just from the description- tropical tea with a black tea?? are you nuts?!

yes. yes he is.

so jade is pleasantly surprised when you ask him for another cup the moment you took a sip…

he leaves his number under the tea mug, and gets a text an hour later.

Finn had been trying to get your attention for months. 

He saw you his first day of classes and wondered how he missed you in the three days before classes started. You were absolutely stunning.

There was just one problem… you didn’t seem to glance in his direction. You seemed to prefer the football guys. You barely spared any attention to the baseball players.

Most of them just wrote you off, saying you weren’t worth the effort or time. Calling you lost cause and jock jumper. But Finn? 

Finn saw you as a challenge. Call him desperate, but he wanted you. He wanted you bad.

One night at the Sound Machine, he noticed you alone at the bar and approached you.

“That quarterback leave you here all alone?” Finn asked casually as he leaned against the neon bar top. You casted him a side glance but just sipped your drink. “His loss, anyone would be lucky to spend a night with you,” he said as he tried his best to keep his gaze from wandering too low. He nodded to the drink in your hand, “That a blueberry mojito?” 

You hummed and sipped it, “Blueberry Coconut Mojito.” 

Your tone was dismissive, but the emphasis on the specific flavor of rum was almost playful. 

“Oh so you like the taste of sunscreen, with just a dash of blueberry?” Finn teased as his beer was given to him. He felt his chest flutter with hope at the quirk of the corner of your mouth. He was getting somewhere.

He watched you eye his beer as you turned to face him. You pinched your straw between manicured nails as he brought the bottle to his lips, “Better than the shit you’re drinking.” 

Finn hummed as he swallowed, smacking his lips a little before swiping any remnants of his mustache with his tongue. “Yeah, it is pretty bad isn’t it? But it’s cheap, so you pay for what you get.” “Mhmmm, is that the same for baseball games?”

The first baseman tilted his head, a little caught off guard. “I– Um, excuse me?” 

“Paying for what you get? Does the same sentiment translate to baseball games?”

You leaned on your elbows, pressing your tits together a little, smirking when his eyes flickered down for a split second. But he regained his cool and leaned in closer to you, green eyes scanning your features. 

“Well, you’ll just have to come and see for yourself, won’t you?”

His voice was deep and low as he spoke, vocal chords rumbling with the words. He knew he threw you off balance when your eyes flickered to his lips as he spoke, and the slight hitch in your breath as he winked at you before walking away.

He’s got your attention now.

Later that week, all of the boys were getting settled in the dugout before going out to the field.

“So do we think Y/N will actually show up?” Jake asked as he stretched. “Who’s that?” Plum asked as he helped the other catcher into his gear. “Jock jumper,” McReynolds clarified as he broke in his glove. “The chick Finn went up to at the bar the other night.” 

Plum nodded, “Oh right right, I mean she could show up. Never know.” Roper scoffed, pushing his hair back as he slid his hat on, “You’re not serious? She has never paid any of us attention before the season started, why start now?” 

Jake went to retort but Finn ran in, clearing the stairs and nearly taking Nez out in the process, “She’s here. She’s actually here.”

“No fuckin’ way. You serious?” Roper asked, looking towards the stands. “Yeah, she’s close to the dugout.” 

Finn had the biggest smile as Kenny peeked out and saw you sitting there, patiently waiting for the game to start. “No way… Dude! How did you do it?” Finn shrugged, leaning against the dugout wall smugly, “I guess I just have a way with words. Or maybe the fact I had the balls to talk to her.”

A low chorus of “ooooo’s” came from the freshmen.

“Not our fault, she was always around some football player. She also never gave us the time of day so what else could we have done?” Glen huffed.

“Well it doesn’t matter, I invited her and she’s here for me. Time to impress her.” Finn saluted the dugout before jogging out for “roll-call”. He looked toward your seat and caught your eye before walking over to you.

You stood with a smirk, your legs catching his attention in the shorts you were wearing as you walked up to the fence from the bleachers.

“Glad you could make it,” he said as he leaned on the chainlink. You smirked at him before looking around, “Of course, how could I miss this?” He smiled and stood up straight, “Well I hope you enjoy the view.” You leaned in a little closer and looked him up and down, “Oh… I’m sure I will. Good luck Finn.” You gave his arm a gentle squeeze to show you were genuinely wishing him good luck.

Your fingers lingered on his arm for a moment before they were gone as you went to the concession stand.

He looked down at the goosebumps left in your wake before Roper got his attention. Finn was gonna have to be at the top of his game today.

And he very much was at the top of his game.

He made near perfect plays, ran the bases like he knew what he was doing. He was great!

After every play or at bat, he found himself looking at you. Glancing to see how impressed you were, if you were impressed at all. Finn had to show you that he was better than the other guys that tried to impress you, that he was the one worth your attention.

So when he heard or saw you cheer for him, and the team, he ate it up. He felt a boost to his ego each time and he wanted to do better each play. He wanted to play better, for you.

And by the time the game was over, he glanced at you – watching you cheer for the team before looking at him and sending him a proud smile. If that didn’t make a man melt, he didn’t know what else would.

In the locker room, Finn was so antsy to get out of there and go find you before you had the chance to leave and go to the bar to get swept up by some meathead. He didn’t change out of his uniform, just his cleats and hastily tied his Converse’s. He swiped deodorant on, with only a little cologne dabbed to his neck, before he ran out of the locker room with his bag.

When he got to the parking lot, he found you leaning against your convertible arms supporting you on the door.

“Y/N!”

You looked up at him, a smile stretching across your features as he jogged over to you. “Hey, Finn!” 

When he got to you, he smiled down at you as you looked up at him, “You did really well, I’m glad I came to watch you play.” If his heart hadn’t already been beating fast from the run, it would have been now. You said you came to watch him play, not the team, him. “I’m glad you came too.”

You smiled at him, “I um, I’m also glad you took a chance on the um ‘jock jumper’, as your friends so affectionately call me.”

His face dropped, “You know about that?” You nodded, “Yeah, I wasn’t exactly far from the dugout and McReynolds is pretty loud.” “Oh my goodness, Y/N, I-I’m sorry. I hope you know that I never thought of you like that.” 

“Finn, it’s okay. I know. And the whole ‘not giving baseball players the time of day’ thing, that’s only somewhat accurate.” Finn furrowed his brow and you giggled, “I only wanted to give you the time of day, Finn. But since my dad is a football scout, jocks try to get a good word in through me. But I turn them away a good majority of the time when I can’t get your attention.”

He blinked, “Wait, so you were using the football players to make me jealous and get me to talk to you?” You nodded and let out a small laugh, “Yeah, I was.”

He chuckled and nodded, “But did I still impress you tonight? Cause I feel a little silly about how desperate I was.” You nodded and gripped his biceps gently, “Yes, Finn, I was very impressed. Granted you didn’t have to try to impress me, but the effort…” You stepped closer to him, so close you were almost touching, “The effort was very attractive, got me a little hot and bothered if I’m honest.” 

Finn took this chance to grab your hip, “I always say the truth will set you free. But I think I have a solution for your… temperature dilemma.” You hummed and looked from his lips to his eyes, “And what’s that Dr. Finnegan?” He nearly growled as he pulled you against him, “I know a private spot at the lake, it’s secluded – just you and me baby.” “Mmm, sounds perfect.” 

He grinned and captured your lips as he swiped your keys from your pocket. When he pulled away, he held them up, “I’m driving.”

@stillforests - from Safer in the Forest (Love Song for Poor Michigan) by La Dispute: “settled in that / still forest like / another phantom or another shadow cast". I love this song, I have the whole thing memorized and I run through it in my head when I'm bored or need distracting. my blog is primarily focused on a green/forest aesthetic so it suits. I started making this my username pretty much everywhere and because of that I also use 'forest' as my go-to online nickname.

@skatekeys - vintage roller skates have a 'skate key' that's used to fit the skates over your shoes. I thought this had a nice sound and suited the cute aesthetic of this blog.

he is so difficult but, i think he smells like…

labdanum and maybe amaretto on the deeper notes. i don’t think he smells too musky, though, and if there is, it’s that warm, close-to-skin scent. a little like laying in warm, sunny sheets. its strongest at his throat. i think there is also a note of vanilla here, too, maybe cashmere.

but above that, i think he smells clean, like fresh linens. a touch of citrus in here and maybe a cool eucalyptus hint, especially right out of a shower. it does contrast with his warmer, more natural scents.

contrary to popular belief, i don’t think he wears cologne often. and when he does, its expensive and simple, perhaps a little more labdanum or cashmere. a dash of plum—or some other fruit. a little sweet. complex. mysterious. leaves you guessing or thinking about it long after he’s left.

at his base, a very human scent, that builds to be more complex.

I finished my mini of Iron Man tonight which means I've now painted every character in both Marvel Crisis Protocol Core Sets. A few years apart, with a lot of practice in between.

Proof that Tony Stark looks cooler in shiny gold. Don't know why I made the OG corset version of him so muted. Second most improved sculpt between versions of a character, I'll save the best for last but to save time wow the original MCP Avengers line up sure are standing with one hand forward and one hand to the side/back. You'll see on the following slides, Captain Marvel is the best posed of them.

Star Spangled Man. I made the first one vibrant so to compensate I made the new version of Cap dull and dark. He's got the Ultimate Captain America colours now. And a tactical rock. As far as I'm concerned, thats America's rock.

I did a poor job on the first Black Widow model and I didn't know she came in white but I liked the idea of the palette swap. Plus I wanted to practice painting white better. I can't believe she's killing Tony Stark.

Darol Canvers. I Wanted to give the other Captain Marvel a more Ms Marvel look. Plus I keep seeing Antares from Ward on my dash so I had black and gold on my mind. I kinda like how my first one came out but every so often I look at her chest and she looks as emaciated as a Xenomorph. Or Sil from Species.

Trying to paint the Spectacular Spider Man as Spider Man 3 taught me a valuable lesson. Never try and start with white and pick out the top parts in black. Slow, painful, and it didn't even really work out well. On to the villains.

The Red Skull from the OG core set is a nice recreation of his Captain America the First Avenger costume and part of why I love MCP because this officious greatcoat and other serious mcp pouch and line laden costumes are sharing a game space with much goofier comic booky designs. Anyway, Red Skull's new core set version is much more excited to show off his cube. First sculpt is more passive but I think that works to its benefit, makes it stand out amongst dynamic hero poses.

Baron Zemo has the best costume here. I didn't do his jacket too well but the bomber jacket just goes so well with the rest. His pose lulls the opponent into a false sense of security before they read his card and realise that he can clear half the board and back in one turn. New Zemo has more momentum but doesn't slay as hard. I tried non-metallic metals on his sword, need to practice that more.

Bane is my all-time favourite Batman villain. With the original one I wanted to try and mix the colour scheme of Tom Hardy's Bane with the glowing veins of the Arkham games and many other Banes. The newer Bane sculpt is more quiet and cerebral, gun discarded while he contemplates his foe and makes a show of muscle. Accordingly, he's themed after the softer spoken Bane of Batman the Animated series.

Ultron and Doctor Doom. Neither of these are Iron Man villains but they are metal so they do frequently appear across from him in board games, video games etc. Ultron was meant to be styled like he is in the movie but I don't think it came out that well. Nice pose, not much action to him tho. Doctor Doom has a calmer pose but the thrust and cape sell him better. Surprisingly the least changed character design between core boxes tho I'd say.

Doctor Octopus is my least favourite sculpt in the original Marvel Crisis Protocol Core Set. Stood stock still. Arms folded. Those tentacles don't convey much either beyond wiggling I botched his colours bad and just drybrushed Leadbelcher for the tentacles. To compensate I laboured over the new Doc Ock, the sculptors and manufacturers deserve praise, I'll buy em a pint if I ever meet em. Best sculpt in the new core set. The elevation. The greatcoat that calls back to Alfred Molina but slides atop comic booky spandex. I gave him plum hair to distinguish it from the jacket more, I think it makes him look a lil fruity.

STORY BEHIND URL: one of my favorite quotes from hellblazer that sums up what he's really about, at his core, not just the magic: "my talent's for lying. for sticking the knife in when people least expect it. then walking away with a smile and a wave before they even realize they're bleeding." it's what drew me to him as a character: his audacity, his willingness to look you right in the eye while he's stabbing you in the back. not just a trickster, but one that tells you outright to go fuck yourself, get tricked idiot.

 'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through my house Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. Cassie hung our stockings on the mantle with care, In hopes that good ol’ St. Nick would soon be there. I had just returned from a Christmas Eve tussle And stopped some bad guys in their bah-humbug bustle. Cassie was already snug like a bug in bed, And I really doubt she watched dancing plums in her head. Probably dreamed of saving the world like her old man; I just dream time would let her stay young as long as it can. I collapsed in my bed, not even bothering to shed my suit; Just let me get some sleep and dream of sugared fruit. When out in my living room there arose such a clatter, I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter. I ran to the hallway then I halted my dash And was surprised to catch a glimpse of a green flash.

I must be dreaming! What did I just see? I could have sworn I just saw something...furry. The twinkling lights from my Christmas tree Were the only lights to help me see, But I knew something was definitely amiss When I heard a snickering croak and a hiss. Then I saw him peek out and I had to flinch! Holy fricking crap! My intruder’s the Grinch! I can’t believe my own eyes as he struts and laughs And shows me he has one of Cassie’s old crafts. Hey! That green Christmas thief has Cassie’s ornament! And he says, “My my my, how this is unfortunate. The pride of Ant-Man’s tree now in my grasp!” Why that little sneak, I couldn’t help but gasp. “You’re actually trying to steal from me? And take my favorite ornament off my tree?” “Why not,” the Grinch replied, “I like to cause a mess For people like you who are big on Christmas.” “What happened to your heart growing 3 times bigger?” He shrugged, “Old habits die hard, and this kind of thing gives me some vigor.” Then he took off so lively and quick, I knew in a moment I had to catch that Grinchy trick! More rapid than eagles we were in our game of tag But it finally looked like I had this win in the bag! I said, “You’re a mean one, Mr. Grinch, But catching you was actually a cinch.” The Grinch harrumphed but offered no other chatter. “Now, c’mon, give back my stuff and tell me what’s the matter. Why did you really come to steal from my tree?” The Grinch grumbled then sighed. “I want one of these things for me.” I tilt my head; I’m definitely confused. Why would he need my ornament; what’s the use? “I’m sorry I don’t understand. You better explain.” “Your ornament is special, lots of happiness it contains, But you see, I have nothing like that of the sort. No sweet memories or cheer, save for the Whos' newfound support  I want a trinket like yours, something given to me, Straight from the heart just to make me happy.” Well no wonder the poor ol’ Grinch was fighting such gloom All he wanted was something special, a tiny heirloom, A sweet homemade thing to warm up his and his dog’s hearts  Like how the ornament Cassie’s love on me imparts. “Aw Mr. Grinch, stealing my ornament won’t get you what you’re looking for. Nor can you get it online or from any store. Just like Christmas, what you’re wanting comes from within  And given with lots of love that’ll make you forever grin.  I know why you want it, Mr. Grinch, and I can’t blame you. Give it some time and I’ll bet ya Cindy Lou Who will come through.  She’s your big buddy now, right? Just watch and see, I’ll bet she’ll give you something that’ll excite.” The Grinch asked me, “How is it you sound so sure?” “Because just like Christmas, my kid and your little friend are rather pure, And they show their love to friends and family  In those simple, sweet ways and do so happily.  Trust me, Mr. Grinch, Christmas came through for you, And Cindy Lou Who will for you too!” The Grinch said sorry for taking my ornament  And thanked me for my lack of judgment  Regarding his Christmas mischief  And promised that never again he’d play the thief. We said our goodbyes as we shook hands. “Merry Christmas, Mr. Grinch”, “Merry Christmas Ant-Man”. As I watched him go, I thought of all my loved ones Friends and family, online buddies and Anons I’d give them all a hug if I could and hold them tight And say “Merry Christmas to all of you! - plum kitaki: i just think she's so pretty! her color scheme is simple but the design on her attire is so memorable and lovely 😁 - jinxie: SUCH A CUTIE. love how her hair and the purple/pink hairtie (?) look like talismans. the paranoid girl EVER - courtney sithe: SHE LOOKS SO COOL. definitely a doctor if i've ever seen one LOL - ga'ran: i'm really fond of this specific version of her!!! that is indeed the queen of khura'in. i think she looks beautiful but also intimidating!!! i won't go into spoiler territory but i will say i wish they kept this as her only design LMAO - van zieks: vampire 🤤🤤🤤 who cries himself to sleep at night i'm sure 🤤🤤🤤 - stronghart: idk man...he's just so handsome.....so scary..............i feel like he both is and isn't a red herring based on his design. i won't say any more than that though HEH. - jake marshall: cowboy 🤤🤤🤤 would love if he didn't have his police uniform underneath though! his very modern police uniform that reminds me that he is a COP and not a wild west vigilante .......... - ron delite: so soft.......his expression.....................hair swirls that face away from the front to give him an even gentler appearance..............................i love it compared to his horribly gaudy mask*demasque attire. he's insane 🥰 - PHOENIX WRIGHTTTTT: THIS SPECIFIC VERSION OF HIM. pretty sure this is spirit of justice. he's SO DASHING...................his waistcoat my GOD. and i love love love how he has the locket with trucy's pic in his suit pocket. phoenix wright the man you are. ...i must talk about one more character. love of my life. he's my everything. i have some slight issue with how many buttons he has on his waistcoat (and also i feel like his hair doesn't make too much sense cuz when you see his sprite from the side where his hair is tied the tie itself is so small but the actually amount of hair that comes out of the tie is SO MUCH...I DIGRESS) BUT. he's perfect. but if he's ever in another game (AND I HOPE HE IS.) i hope they give him a redesign! maybe a haircut! would be nice i think!!! I LOVE YOU SIMON. anyway.
