Come Out, Squirtle - but make it 🌈cake🌈

We turned a funfetti cake into this iconic scene from the official 1999 Pokemon book! The details are all orange-flavoured buttercream frosting, and we made Squirtle, Poliwhirl and Charmander using icing transfers.

This is part of my 🏳️‍🌈Pride Pokemon desserts series I do every Pride Month, and it's possibly one of my favourites! (Peep a few in the last pic!) I love combining my passions for Pokemon and baking, and it's been so special incorporating what I love and parts of my identity. That I can maybe help others who are often sidelined, to also feel seen, is truly the icing on the cake.

I want to be part of a world where everyone feels welcome and safe to come out when and how they choose. Right now, the most vulnerable people are once again being scapegoated, and attacks on our rights will continue to ramp up. But our love will outlive hate, and no amount of legislation will ever make us disappear. Fight on, until the day it's safe for us all to be out and proud. 💪

[✘] The blonde had a snarl on their face, their eyes seemed to to be blazing as they stared at Hau. A growl leaving them as they turned their head, nails digging into their palm enough to make them bleed. Shaking his head he walked off, he needed to blow off some steam. Although his Silvally, Argyro stayed behind as they looked at Hau. They tilted their head before slowly approaching Hau since what happened wasn’t exactly their fault.

‘Silval!’

[✘] Gladion’s hands clench at his sides, nails digging into his palms. They really were as daft as they had been back then. He bit back a growl as his eyes focused harshly on Hau, his irises looked luminescent; almost like they were glowing and were his pupils always that thin?

“You don’t even know the first thing about me-! All I’ve ever have happen to me was get used! Whether for the power I possessed or the influence I carried. Everyone always wants something more from me!!”

While he was glad he hadn’t lashed out physically, he had verbally. Hau didn’t deserve it but considering they had been right there when he snapped- it made him the target of his rage.

He jumped and dropped the ice cream, and it landed on his closed toe sandals and proceeded to smear everywhere.  “Hey, I’m sorry, please don’t be mad at me.”He’s saw Gladion miffed, but this is the first time he truly saw Gladion angry, at least have that anger directed at him. “I just wanted to help…you’re really nice and you deserve a friend and….I just wanted to do something nice.”

By day, a father. By night, a drag queen by the name of Ai Burner, the queer coded villain you all know and love, bent on world domination! This is the blog of Ghetsis Harmonia, may all know the name!

I have three children, all adopted-- A is my oldest, and she lives at home to work on her art. C is the middle child, who teaches kindergarten, and N, my youngest, recently got an internship in city planning and design. I'm quite proud of them all, but you'll not get any more information about them from me.

Some OOC notes here. This is not an in-universe parody account, this is legitimately a universe where ghetsis got into drag rather than villainy. Anything regarding the names of her kids will be deleted, for the sake of internet privacy, but you can probably get some lore if you ask the right questions!

THIS IS A LOW STAKES BLOG. And Ghetsis is a relatively well adjusted adult who will block any of what he views as unfounded antagonism. Especially if you accuse her of the legitimately horrendous things that her alternate universe counterparts did. In summary:

Next up comes Etho! A prodigy battler famous for his innovative strategies, he’s popular amongst Pokemon battling fans both new and old. A bit too popular for his tastes, seeing as he’s all but disappeared from the public eye when not battling. He’s continued the nomadic life he started during his gym circuit, traveling the region and participating in whatever battles strike his fancy. While you may expect for him to be jaded towards his fans, he’s actually rather friendly and often welcomes their requests to battle.

No one is quite sure of Etho’s past. He claims that he’s from the northernmost reaches of Unova, but nobody’s managed to determine a location or any real connections the man might have. This doesn’t stop speculations however, as people are chomping at the bit for even the smallest details. Some people even theorize that he spawned from thin-air just to battle, but that’d be impossible!

…right?

Honestly I haven’t been sure about what to do for Etho’s plot, but I’ve been tossing around the idea of making him a Faller from a dimension somewhere out in Ultra Space. I’m not certain yet if this is the route I’d like to go with or if it’d be better for his background to just be a generic trainer from a super rural town… It’ll probably be something I figure out once more of the overarching plot.

Etho’s team is a bit more vague in its inspirations, for the most part. I absolutely had to include Zoroark for the fox element, and the illusion aspect is pretty ninja-like (especially in relation to Naruto) which works pretty well!. 

Most of the rest of his team is unfortunately just based in type themes. Ice because Canada, grass thanks to his love for jungles and his cc! association with plants. I tried to stick with Unovan pokemon for these, but I did go for Froslass rather than Cryogonal or Vanilluxe because I feel like it suits his vibes a bunch more. Gothitelle’s just there because I solo-ed Pokemon Black with it as a kid, and I think Etho deserves something of an oddball pick that can manage that even if he doesn’t have a real connection to the rest of Gothitelle’s concepts. 

I’d love to make his team more themed around his actual series, but unfortunately I’m just not familiar enough with them. Having some connection to redstone would be great, but Tango’s already taken the easy Unovan electric-types. Maybe a Xurkitree could work well, if I go with the Faller backstory, but that might be forcing a connection.

Since the numbers post yesterday we've had signups for nearly 60 new auctions, bringing the current total to 779. That beats the number of signups for 2016/7, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021, and puts us withing spitting distance of our record last year of 819. Can we do it? Will we do it? Been having way too much Pokemon in the brain lately, just replayed Legends Arceus, and I wanna throw my hat into the ring and give my version of Eddsworld and their pokemon teams.

I don't have fully fleshed out yet, all I know for certain is that in my world Tord would have a Houndoom (dark/fire), a Metagross (steel/psychic), a shiny Scolipede (Poison/bug), a Golurk (ghost/ground), and a Tyrantrum (rock/dragon)

Reagan would have a female Emboar nicknamed Mrs mama pig (Fire/fighting), a Grumpig (Psychic), a Lechonk (Normal), a Tyrannitar (Rock/dark), and a Drapion (Poison/dark)

Dante would have a Frosslass (Ice/Ghost) and a Murkrow (dark/flying)

Tom would definitely have a Chandelure (Fire/ghost), a Gengar (Poison/ghost), a Glaceon (Ice), a Toxtricity (Poison/electric), and a Hydreigon (dark/dragon)

Matt would have a Sylveon (Fairy), a Croagunk (poison/fighting), and a Milotic (water)

Edd would have an Umbreon nicknamed Ringo (Dark), a Pumkaboo (ghost/grass), and a Mega Rayquaza (dragon/flying) - I wanted to give Edd something overpowered to represent his poweredd/wtfuture versions, and since I see Edd as a casual trainer it would be funny for him to have this overpowered noodle lizard backing him up whenever.

Patrick would have Vanilluxe (Ice), Slurpuff (Fairy), Appletun (Dragon/grass), Alcremie (Fairy), and a Pachirisu (Electric)

Paul would have a Yamper (Electric), Arcanine (Fire), Daschbun (Fairy), Stoutland (Normal), and a dusk form Lycanroc (Rock)

And finally Vlamis would have a Weaville (Dark/ice), Frosmoth, (ice/bug) Baxcalibur (Dragon/ice), and a Hisuain Zoroark (normal/ghost)

Ogerpon Mountain Frost fake mask form by me for the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Discord’s holiday contest :3

LORE: The Mountainfrost mask is Ogerpon’s secret 5th mask. Some time before the loyal three attacked, Ogerpon and her late human decided to trek towards snowy mountains on a journey for unknown reasons. As a gift of well wishes and protection, the town’s mask maker sent them off with the Mountainfrost mask. Then one day, Ogerpon and her human returned to their shelter after gathering firewood to find that an avalanche had completely buried it. Luckily Ogerpon, her human, and their masks were unscathed, but the Mountainfrost mask was unrecoverable beneath the snow. The mask maker’s wish for the two’s protection had worked and took the avalanche for them. However, seeing this as a bad omen, the two decide to return to Kitakami for safety without knowing the tragedy that awaits them.

Upon terastalization holding the Mountainfrost mask, Ogerpon’s Embody Aspect will grant her evasion. Without tera, she has Intimidate. The mask design is inspired by the four emotions Ogerpon’s other masks represent. Teal = Joy, Hearthflame = Anger, Wellspring = Sadness, and Cornerstone = Fulfillment, so the Mountainfrost mask represents fear. All masks also take inspiration from masks used in Japanese Noh theater. Because the Wellspring mask takes notes from both the Onna and Namanari style masks and shows the descent of feminine sorrow into evil, and because ice is a different form of water, I decided to lean into the Namanari mask inspiration further by depicting the fearful screaming face of a woman who has been abandoned, left to perish in the cold, and is growing blunt oni horns as a result of her descending emotions. Then upon terastalizing, the face morphs from fear to hatred (as hatred derives from fear), and the once blunt horns develop further to show progression in the depicted woman’s path to darkness. Other inspirations I used include the Yuki-Onna, Krampus, and “The Scream” by Edvard Munch.
