how can I improve my media literacy? I feel so stupid

You are not stupid! Developing media literacy takes work and effort and mental exercise, and just knowing that it's important and wanting to improve makes you a smart person in my opinion.

I'm no teacher, and I think one of the best things you could do if you wanted to improve your media literacy seriously would be to go to your local library and ask the librarian where to find books on media analysis and/or college level literature textbooks.

But beyond that, here's some general tips.

(I am going to say "reading" and "books" here, but these tips apply to all forms of media as well, film, video game, etc.)

Read books that challenge your reading comprehension.

Read books that have words you don't recognize and have to look up. Read books that are written with dense prose that you have to read slowly to take in.

Read books that challenge you emotionally.

Read books about subjects that make you uncomfortable. Read books from the perspective of people who you disagree with.

Stop and think about what you're reading.

Think deeply about what the author is trying to say, not just on the surface but subtextually. Think about word choice, think about writing decisions. Think about the character motivations. Think about the author's motivations. 

Consider the context and metatext.

When you're reading something, think about the context it was written in. Do research about the author and their life. Do research about the time and place the book was written in, and try to link the information that you find to the material in what you're reading.

Write about what you're reading.

Stop and do a reflection after you've read something. Maybe look up a worksheet of general reading comprehension questions online and answer them. Take the time to write about what you were reading, how it made you feel and what you think it was trying to say. Taking time to write like this helps you process what you've taken in and understood it.

As I said at the beginning, media literacy takes work! I hope that some of this can be helpful to you as you flex your muscles ^^

Also I’ve been thinking about this… you remember in s1 when the hexcore was making vik go crazy??? If he were in charge of it now you think he ever does that thing where he zaps a little bit of magic up Jayce’s spine (or other… parts of him) while Mel holds him down with her force fields? I just really think the two of them actually standing over Jayce while they make him come a few times would bring him to tears.

I've talked about Jayce being into restraints elsewhere, but I feel like even if he is tied up, whoever his partner is would still be touching him somehow. Whether he's tied up and they're riding him, railing him, whatnot-- I feel like the exciting factor would be that he can't grab them, but they can do what they'd like with him.

But if there wasn't any physical contact at all, even with other stimulation? I think it'd be something akin to psychological warfare.

I would pay an ungodly amount to be front row for the spectacle that would be Jayce "Physical Touch" Talis vs. Mel "Force Field" Medarda, that man would be foaming at the mouth and she'd be sitting pretty just out of arm's reach with Viktor. And Viktor and Mel can touch all they want but Jayce is left all on his own.... No one to cling to...

Sure, he's got his own pleasure, but it's just not the same!

I feel like Mel and Viktor would push that scenario as far as they could because they're a little devious and committed to the bit, but there is the potential for it to get to be straight up too much for Jayce, and then there's plenty of aftercare and Jayce gets to be held for as long as he wants.

hallo !! i don't really write for jayce as i don't really have many thoughts but big brother jayce with caitlyn is SO real and true in my heart. jayce is so proud when caitlyn babbles to him or reaches to him , scooping her up with the utmost of care. i think he and vi would be sooo silly taking care of her together. if jayce were to regress too he might get territorial and overprotective. "she's my sister not yours," sticking his tongue out at vi. he'd laugh , tousling jayce's hair. "i know , big guy , i know." jayce will get down on the floor and play with caitlyn , he's not afraid to get his hands dirty. he loves giving her piggy back rides , though he'll jokingly poke fun at her height. sometimes this makes baby ! cait upset and it makes him feel Terrible. it ends with both siblings regressed and crying and vi having to distract jayce with a cool trinket while he settles caitlyn and then calms jayce down. jayce maybe got a little 🤏 teary when baby caitlyn first managed to say his name.

I mean, from what we've seen Mel's whole thing is shields and energy blasts (idk how to really describe them), right? Shields don't seem super useful for sex, at least not in an obvious way but maybe there's some kinkiness I'm overlooking. She could... wound him from afar? If you headcanon Jayce is into that kinda pain, that could be interesting to explore

I also don't really know the specifics of Viktor's powers either.... Like, he can "heal" people but that seems like a one-time thing and as we've seen, eventually the concensus is that doing that is bad.

And ofc we'd have to cook up some kind of AU where they save the day but Viktor somehow manages to keep his powers and finds a way to use them for good, or maybe they all go evil, idk 🤷‍♀️ I'm overthinking it

What I am intrigued about is the astral plane. Like, if they found a way to keep that ability and be able to travel there and back at will... What's it like there? Are you just completely numbed, or is everything intensified? Or.....

Because what if they could create a little throuple 'hive-mind' there? So their physical bodies could be sitting in a godawful, boring policy meeting or whatever, but then in the astral plane, they're doing truly unholy things to each other and... Maybe that causes physical reactions.... Jaybe.... Jaybe not... 👀
