I find it really interesting that when Lin Ling goes hero mode, the art style changes from 3D to 2D superhero comic style. It’s indicative of what he thinks being a hero is.

The 3D art style represents the “real world,” while the 2D style represents the hero narrative he believes in. And to L0, being a hero is doing all these cool superhero moves: fighting the villain and saving the leading lady.

L0 is so caught up in his own hero narrative that he’s unable to see the truth: The villain isn’t really some great big evil he needs to defeat. The villain is just someone who cared about the original Nice and misses him dearly.

As of now, L0 thinks he’s doing the right thing by defeating the villain. But until he matures and snaps out of his naive superhero comic narrative, he won’t understand that the true villain is not the person in front of him but rather the company behind him and the larger structures beneath him that uphold the fucked-up superhero system in this world.

Lin Ling has a lot to go.

Overdo 这一秒过火 from 🐧 Tencent and 🥝 iQIYI officially announced its cast. Starring Zhang Linghe and Wang Churan.

About 6 hours ago, the production team officially announced its main cast, Zhang Linghe and Wang Churan, and released a few character posters and clips.
