Backstory:

Québec was born in 1603, the moment France planted it‘s flag along the St. Lawrence River. A colony child, delicate and dreamy, but stubborn as winter. He was France‘s favorite. France raised him like a prodigy, dressed him in lace, taught him manners. made him feel important. He thought he‘d be loved forever.

Then came 1763, France lost the 7 years war and gave Québec to England without a fight. England became his new keeper, cold, foreign, protestant, and entirely unwelcome. Québec rebelled quietly.

In 1867, he became part of the Dominion of Canada, but not by choice. They lived together, side-by-side, but never truly as one.

They 20th Century brought the quiet revolution, Québec fought for modernity, language rights and dignity. Twice (in1980 and 1995), he nearly left Canada. His heart is still torn.

Now he‘s strong, creative and culturally vibrant. But deep down there‘s still a boy, waiting at the docks for France.

💙 ⊹₊ ⋆ Ludwig is Autistic. Because I am!! He also has BPD.. BECAUSE I DO!!! whoopee!!! He doesn't especially like being touched by people and hasn't since he was Firstborn. Every time somebody touches him, he says "Touching." in a very crabby tone (bee and puppycat reference) and stares at them until they stop touching him. Cicada is exempt from this both because he likes them and because they have soft hands so it's ok. He has a special interest in music as a whole and loves composing his own pieces!!... Many of which are unfinished because he has big boy work to take care of, and because he keeps making more. He is organized with everything but his own music ... what a goober

🎼 ⊹₊ ⋆ Lore dump for context..... Bowser made a deal with this goddess lady because she doesn't like peach (lore reasons, please ask me about it) and the deal is to capture her yadda yadda ... In exchange for his compliance, the goddess gave him the seven rainbow kids (Koopalings!! wao) so that they could assist him in his mission. Bowser, now with this new stressful mission, ended up shoving Junior in Ludwig's hands..... for a while, Ludwig was Junior's primary caretaker while Bowser was stressing over the mission and other things, and he Hated it. This was pre-transition, so Junior would call Ludwig 'mini-mama' which he hated even more. While Ludwig doesn't hold any grudges against Junior for obvious reasons, he still feels weird if he has to take care of him for any reason. (Also, Junior's favorite sibling is Ludwig.. for obvious reasons!)

🪼 ⊹₊ ⋆ All of the Koopalings and Junior watch my little pony because its goated. Ludwig's favorite is Rarity (obvious, I know).. not because they have similar personalities, but because she has impeccable fashion sense. She also mildly inspired his little interest in sewing, an interest he carries that he'd never admit to anybody but Cicada. He sewed some of the outfits they wore when they were considered a 'captive'. (He would like to get into crocheting, maybe.)

🎧 ⊹₊ ⋆ In public, he obviously likes to keep a posh and professional appearance. He rarely smiles, always looks straight ahead, never breaking eye contact when speaking (which unnerves people sometimes)... And hides his real laugh. The fake laugh he shows people is very quiet, think of like... a "hmhmhm-" or liek silverspoon from III. Buuut, if you show him something real funny, and you're not in front of anyone else........ "PFFOHOHO!!(๑`▽´๑)" !!!! (if youre in public, he tries to hold it in and he sounds like he is choking)

💠 ⊹₊ ⋆ I already kinda stated he is trans two facts ago but he is trans. His hair used to be entirely white and a little less coily and kinda droopier.... He was very sad before he transitioned. He would isolate himself much more than he does now, to the point where he wouldn't eat for days at a time sometimes. He was also much crabbier. He had frequent episodes that would result in isolation or worse (s/h) and one day he ended up exploding and having a meltdown in front of Iggy and Iggy's response was to promptly knock him out and give him both top and bottom surgery and pump him full of hormones which made him sick for like a week!!!! He obviously recovered nicely, though- he stopped isolating as much and began EATING YAY!!!.!.@?@?. After he went on hormones his hair started to turn blue. Why? lunno. Sometimes he gets a white hair every now and again (from stress) and he very quickly plucks it because 1. He's scared he'll look like how he used to and 2. Не doesn't wanna get old and wrinkly. Even tho him and Iggy have a complex rivalry brotherhood type thing going on, he will forever hold Iggy in high mental regards for playing doctor that day.

🖤 ⊹₊ ⋆ I'm sure this is a very common headcanon for him (i know it is but IDC!!) Him and Wendy are gossip buddies. They have stupid nicknames for each other to let each other know its gossip time (DeeDee and Wiggy). Obviously they hate these nicknames, but hey!! its fun. Ludwig also gets weirded out when others call him Wiggy. Roy is on thin ice because she calls him Wigzy, which is just one letter off.

🦋 ⊹₊ ⋆ Another common one obviously buuut ,,, He can play Many instruments!!! Piano, trumpet, tuba, organ, violin, viola, and saxophone. How does he get the time for all of it?? who knows!!! (he has occasional 3-am moments in his studio) ... also he wants to learn more. Cicada will eventually teach him Kalimba and Harp and this other instrument i created that doesn't have a name yet!!

You don't understand. Crazy as it sounds, I'm the Arthur with the least aspirations in life. I was never a great musician, nor a brilliant detective. My first job to prepare the music stands, seats, and sheet music for the orchestra company I worked for. I tried my damndest to become something more.

I was so wrapped up in my studies, trying to learn music theory, attempting to compose even one decent score for my daughter... I let her drown. And I--I can't, I could never take that back.

I was a pity case for my poor wife, and a pity case for my partner, Parker, I knew that. I guess, when I opened up that book, I became a pity case for John, too.

Arthur...

It's true! I was getting nowhere on my own. The only thing I had worth living for was my daughter, and I lost her. So once I learned of these higher powers... I devoted myself to getting her back. Believe me, I am no hero. But I am a father.

Because every challenge the other Arthurs got stopped by or hung up over, I simply slipped past. If it wasn't relevant, I didn't bother. I probably... no, definitely let some good people suffer for that. But I won.

Arthur says the last line through gritted teeth, now intensely gripping The Manager's and John's hands.

It was pure bad luck that I ended up in Kayne's orchestra. And to do what!? I had hoped to slip by unnoticed like always, but alas, as soon as Middle C was done for...

For one of the ask games; a headmate of mine is a fictive of Tarn, and I know he misses some of the opera we had on Cybertron. I never cared for music very much, and I especially didn't after Messatine left a bad taste in my mouth, but I can appreciate some of what he likes now... and I guess I can sympathize with him missing what he'll never hear again.

I don't have many memories of what our music sounded like on Cybertron, but he's confessed he hasn't been able to find anything like it here. For us, relatively speaking, the sort of instrumentals and operas and operatics he liked were a bit romantic. Soft and lyrical. Very climactic. The Empyrean Suite was famously so, but that was a ballad, not necessarily a sparkpiece.

I still don't care for music, but it's nice listening to him describe what he remembers. The shows and artists and composers especially. I almost definitely remember operating on one. I wish I could do something about the fact he's struggled to find anything marginally similar.

For today's lesson, we looked at Paul Hindemith's 𝕸𝖆𝖙𝖍𝖎𝖘 𝖉𝖊𝖗 𝕸𝖆𝖑𝖊𝖗.

There are many strong melodies - supported by background layers in nuances.

Learnt about a new kind of composition! - 𝕻𝖆𝖘𝖘𝖆𝖈𝖆𝖌𝖑𝖎𝖆 (craving for some lasagna mmm)

I think I would use passacaglia as an inspiration to starting a new structure in a section and layer other instruments on top on it - avoiding following the traditional way so as to make it more modern and a style that I can call mine. It is the "easiest" to compose yet there is a need to take care of the intervallic relations between the motif and the supporting layers.

Learning points:

Brass are mellow and are usually used as background lines, as a harmonic glue to strengthen the sound

Take note of intervallic relationships between horn players! Hn 1, 3 should not have an interval smaller than minor 3rd, vice versa for Hn 2, 4, and etc.

Best used at climaxes, giving the maestoso vibesss

Higher notes are usually harder to be played at a softer dynamic. Want soft notes? Go lower. Want louder notes, go higher!

In 1870s Vienna, two female composers become locked into an intense rivalry; one that soon turns into infatuation, and one that may have deadly consequences for them both.

Franziska Jelinek is a burnt out composer, with her child prodigy days far behind her. The only thing that drives her forward is the pressure from her aloof, unimpressable parents, and Her. Elisabeth Schelling is everything Franziska is not. Young, beautiful, and most of all, preternaturally talented with violin, piano, and pen. And Franziska hates her for it.

With each meeting, Franziska finds herself feeling more and more envious, but more and more intrigued by her musician rival. More and more… infatuated by her, even. But in Franziska’s life of endless competition, there is no room for feelings. However, she can only repress her urges so long before they eat her alive.

CHARACTERS

Franziska Jelinek: A former child prodigy turned jaded musician, Franziska feels trapped in her profession. The only thing driving her is fame and the approval of her domineering parents. She struggles with envy and self-hatred, which is only heightened by her competition. Deep down, she represses her feeling of anger at the world and feelings of attraction towards a certain fellow composer.

Vilém Jelínek: Franziska’s father and mentor, Vilém expects only the best from his daughter. He is a violinist and composer who grew up in Bohemia to a working-class family, moving to Vienna to have a (mostly unsuccessful) career. He trained Franziska to exhaustion and forced her into the limelight at an early age to be his successor in part due to his unfulfilled desires.

Klara Jelinek: Franziska’s mother, a disgraced former aristocrat who doesn’t care about Franziska other than for the money and fame she brings. Overly obsessed about image and luxury, she desires to marry Franziska off to a wealthy family and is weirdly envious of her.

Elisabeth Schelling: Franziska’s rival, a enigmatic and seemingly perfect violinist who writes technically flawless, passion-filled compositions that everybody adores. Franziska develops a massive envy/hatred/fascination of her. Despite this, Elisabeth’s life is not as perfect as it seems and underneath her placid smiles lies a hidden world of troubles and insecurity.

Maxi and Moritz von Innsbach: a pair of eerily similar aristocratic twins who recruit Franziska to write an opera from their dead mother’s unfinished stories. Their good looks and glamorous lifestyles hide their true mean-spirited tendencies and familial dysfunction.

Ilona Szarka: A Hungarian soprano with a flair for the dramatic, Ilona is well-renowned for her operatic virtuosity as well as being a difficult-to-work-with and demanding prima donna. Her striking beauty both in appearance and voice make her popular and in high demand however.

Rainer Schelling: Elisabeth’s manager, husband and fellow composer, Rainer superficially appears handsome and charismatic. His handsome exterior hides a nasty temper, a tendency of manipulation, and a need to control Elisabeth (whose talent he sees as a threat to his fame) at all costs.

It's only occasionally that Drak gets days off from his work of dealing with evildoers, especially Dr. Dred. So when one does finally present itself, he takes full advantage of it. Said advantage had been him going into town and playing a bit of badminton, something that took up the majority of his morning.

It's now, around lunch time, that the Vampire is calmly walking back in the direction of Scott's home. A song running through his head as he gets closer, Drak gives a little chuckle to himself and decides 'why not?'

"Another sunrise But you can't stay for the dawn Not even goodbye So I just lay here and mourn you"

Even if you asked him where he heard this song, he couldn't tell you. It just popped into his head so he must've heard it somewhere within the last week or two. It was catchy though and wasn't that all that mattered? He doesn't even care if someone hears him or not.

Even as he starts his way up the driveway, he doesn't even lower his volume. Drak isn't really someone who embarrasses easily, unless he's flubbed something up. So the idea of someone in the family hearing him is hardly a deterrent to the outgoing Vamp.
