Sorry for the continued self-promotion, but I recently updated an app I wrote that has some tangential relation to the subject matter of this blog!

It’s a free etymological dictionary for word roots/elements, which are things we see all the time in biology when naming things!

Very handy for worldbuilding, looking up the meanings of names, or if you happen to stumble upon an entirely new species and end up naming it! 

For example, there’s our good friend Astrophytum capricorne whose name is name up of astr (star) + o + phyton (plant) and capri (goat) + corn (horn), and you can see why when looking at the plant!

A fun non-plant-related piece of etymology is ‘disaster’ literally glossing as “bad star”.

Let me know how y’all like it, and let me know if there are any important morphemes I missed, or need to add corrections to!
