What if Messmer is the aspect of Miquella who rejected everything about the Golden Order so strongly fused with some remnant offshoot of Malenia that sprung from one of her bloom(s) to ascend to godhood Femto style. Like wouldn't that be fucked up or what.

A cloaked figure entered his chambers, keeping what looks to be a death knight's axe low at his side. He was looking for someone, and it was apparent with his consistent pace, only stopping when nearing the middle of the chamber.

Adjusting to the darkness of the chamber, he looks towards the long-forgotten empyrean in front of him. Yet, his axe did not rise, only remaining at his side. He was no knight of Messmer, nor did he look like a man who would follow the Grace of Gold for that matter. Yet, he lowered his hood to reveal his face, and bowed reverently towards Messmer.

"Lord Messmer of Shadow Keep. Forgive my intrusion, I do not mean to interrupt you. I come here with news from outside this realm that is important to you."

My muses and how they’d act if they ever get sick because I’m bored?, This will probably all be pretty basic however lol.

::Queen Marika::-> I don’t think she gets sick all that often, I guess that’s because she’s a god so yeah- but when she does get sick i feel like it hits her like a falling tree to be honest, like 10 to 100 real quick lol. I can see her acting more clingy to certain individuals in all honesty, not to an ‘uncomfortable’ extent but to an uncharacteristic extent.

::Spirit-Tuner Marika::-> Thai version of Marika however, she’ll get sick much more often honestly, it’s not going to hit her like a falling tree just yet however- but I can see this younger version of her probably getting sick like every other, if not every summer/spring. She’d would probably be as clingy as the older/future version of herself in all honesty.

::Radagon::-> I think he would probably get sick during the colder months of the year, but only at the beginning of the colder months however- probably just within the first few weeks or so. I can see him trying to keep up with his work by himself if possible, not wanting to get any other people sick.

::Messmer::-> he probably is a lot like his mother because I just can’t see him getting sick all that often, probably just once in a blue moon to be honest, however whenever he does get sick in a rare case he does- he needs to be forced to take care of himself by his soldiers in my opinion lol.

::Godwyn the golden::-> Godwyn, despite being one of the few un-cursed children of Marika he probably is one of the few ones that gets the most sick in all honesty, he’ll try not to really let it affect him but he also knows when he needs to take a rest so yeah, pretty normal in all honesty.

::Godwyn the prince of death::-> unlike his living version of himself he just doesn’t get sick anymore, he physically can’t at this point in time.

::Miquella::-> because I muse his ascended vision he is much like his mother, he can’t  necessarily get sick unless it’s something really bad-? But whenever he does/if he does get sick he’ll try his best to take care of it as soon as he can, mainly because before he  ascended he never wanted to get his twin sister any more sick then she already was/is.

::Malenia blade of Miquella::-> because Malenia is inflicted with Scarlet-Rot whenever she gets sick she really feels it and feels it hard, whenever she’s sick she feels like she’s dying more then she already does. She’s really just out of commission whenever she’s ill/sick more so then she already- that’s about it to be honest.

::Malenia Goddess is rot::-> this version of Malenia can’t necessarily get sick anymore actually, mainly because of the fact that she’s now fully is the living vessel of/for the outer goddess of rot at this point in time.

 ::Saint Trina::-> Trina doesn’t get sick all that often, she probably does a bit more then what Miquella does but still, she has a pretty good immune system in my own opinion, however whenever she does get sick she just sleeps, sleeps more then she probably already does actually, that or she’ll make herself something to drink that she’ll think would make her feel better.

::Fia::-> She has an amazing immune system, she hasn’t been sick since she was an actual child, sooo yeah. She’ll probably try to help others who get sick however.

::Roderika::-> Unlike Fia, this woman gets sick every other month most likely, it’s nothing to bad but it is annoying for obvious reasons, she’ll try to just rest it away and do what she can to make it leave sooner rather then later.

::Romina::-> Romina, much like Malenia in her rot goddess form just doesn’t get sick- or at the very least not that often anymore, it was probably many, many years ago by now since she was actually sick at this point. However when she was last sick she kinda half-ass taking care of herself.

im too lazy to copy all the text so here’s a bit more musing on the technicalities of Godwyn’s power and how he (probably?) developed it.

funny enough this supports my hc that Messmer aspired to be like Godfrey- someone who contain their violence & refined it to a measured blade, while Godwyn did everything to escape his dad’s shadow, absorbing foreign powers via diplomacy-ironically mirroring Radagon (don’t even get me start on how Prince of Death staff scales with both INT and FTH, just like Radagon’s spells). All for Marika’s sake, but different methods.

Melina, Messmer and the Gloam Eyed Queen.

Disclaimer : this is not my theory. I saw it in a buried youtube comment and it rings so damn true I want you all to see it! From this guy, in this video.

OK so I was watching a lore video and disagreeing with a lot of it. Good stuff though, and the comments were fun. As I scrolled, I saw this, which blew my socks away and is definitely my personal take now! (the comment is edited for readability)

Melina is a daughter to Marika and Radagon. This is confirmed as she’s represented by a butterfly. The butterflies we can find in game all represent the children of Marika and Radagon.

Nascent butterfly represents Miquella, Aeonian butterfly represents Malenia, Smouldering butterfly represents Melina. And then in the dlc we’re introduced to Messmer and Black Pyreflies.

I like to believe that the children of Marika and Radagon come in twos. First came the twins Melina and Messmer, and then came Miquella and Malenia. The later share a contrasting theme, Miquella is cursed with eternal youth while Malenia is cursed with Scarlet Rot which caused her to rapidly decay, symbolizing old age and death.

And then we have Melina and Messmer who both share the theme of fire. Messmer has his own flame, a flame which is notably different from any other pyromancy in the game, his fire is more red and more aggressive. He is able to share his fire with his followers, his fire knights who cast incantations of Messmer’s flame. Then when we kill Messmer, we obtain his flame as a physical item.

Now Melina’s flame was black flame, and in contrast to Messmer’s flame which could burn away all physical things, Melina’s black flame could burn metaphysical things (being burned by black flame does hp damage because it’s burning your very soul) and just like Messmer, Melina was able to pass on her black flame power to her own ‘knights’ the Godskins.

And so Messmer went on to use his flame to burn the enemies his mother pointed him at, where as Melina desired to burn the things that she could, she wanted to burn the Erdtree.

Marika couldn’t risk Melina tearing down everything she had worked for, so she had Maliketh confront Melina and defeat her. Maliketh then took Melina’s black flame just as we take Messmer’s flame, and he converted it into destined death, giving Maliketh sole control over the only thing that can kill the soul, thus truly killing someone once and for all.

(Note, Maliketh didn’t have destined death when he defeated Melina, which is why she’s still around, he killed her, but couldn’t get rid of her for good, nor did he need to once he took her power away.)

So when we meet Melina, she doesn’t know who she is or what her purpose is, but in time, she ultimately arrives at the same conclusion once again, she wants to burn the Erdtree, even without her black flame, she’s still the same person. We can then see to her wishes and use her to burn the Erdtree OR we can spare her and burn the Erdtree with the flame of frenzy.

And then in the flame of frenzy ending, we see Melina take on a new form, her original form, the form of The Gloam-Eyed Queen. Why has she reverted to this old form?

Because we kill Maliketh and unleash destined death, thus returning Melina’s black flame power to her.

The idea of Melina and Messmer being twins is backed up further by their association with the serpents. Messmer’s association with the serpents is obvious, where as Melina’s connection relies on the theory of her being the Gloam-Eyed Queen, where she’d then be associated with the Godskins, and we know the Godskins are associated with serpents.

My own musings...

What if Maliketh defeated Melina/the Gloam Eyed Queen, but let her be. Deafeated doesn't mean killed. It's possible she was burnt and bodiless because Messmer destroyed her. Marika already makes him do her dirty deeds with his subjugation of the shadowland, isn't it possible he requested he burn his sister so she could better control her as a spirit?

Things that don't really gel : why would Melina be "queen" of anything. Where would she have ruled? If she's an empyrean, as we know she was, where is her shadow bound beast, and more importantly, why wasn't Messmer? We know both Miquella and Malenia have no shadows (as far as we can tell) but were also both Empyreans despite the curse.

Perhaps it's because Melina inherited Grace, while Messmer didn't.

Perhaps the flames aren't the curse, but only the serpent inside of him. Making him uneligible, not only for grace, but also for empyrean status.

Now that I think about it, there's NOTHING to support this, but it's possible that Melina could have been the queen Marika puts in charge of all the shadowlands while she's off with Messmer in the Lands Between. There is a lot of death there. Maliketh and Messmer could have come for her together, Messmer burning her/returning her to Marika to control (and use later on).

Ryuzo from Ghost of Tsushima: the Muse. The Character of all times. Blorbo Glup Shitto and my Meow Meow from my shows. I embraced the contrast between both characters by turning Rook into one of my sad OCs. Tho one thing they do share in common with Ryuzo besides the similar looks is their use of humor and (less frequent) flirting as a coping mechanism.

No-Face from Spirited Away: the yokai No-Face embodies the dark consequences of loneliness and isolation, and the human necessity to seek genuine connection with others. Ryuzo has always been a lone dragon, pushing people away to protect them from the demonic parasite that feeds off them and to protect themselves from getting emotionally hurt. I don't mean to suggest that No-Face could be autistic-coded, but Ryuzo is, and, like Taash, they learned to mask their symptoms by mimicking other allistic people, just like No-Face mimicks the personalities of the people it eats.

Malenia from Elden Ring: Malenia's Rot is slowly consuming her, which contrasts with Ryuzo being slowly eaten away by the demon attached into their body.

Messmer from Elden Ring: just like Messmer's neglecting his real nature, an abyssal monster slumbering within, Ryuzo is repressing their urge to magically feed from mortals in order to keep the demon sated. When Ryuzo was a baby, a demon attached into their soul when they were struggling to survive a wyvern's attack, accidentally luring this demon from the Fade when they discovered their powerful magical abilities.

Carrie White: Carrie's repressed anger manifests with her telekinetic powers and the destruction that comes with them. Part of me considers that if Ryuzo hadn't found Varric, chances are they would have given themselves to Elgar'nan's will to turn them into a weapon, or an archdemon, even.

Jin Sakai from Ghost of Tsushima: Jin's kindhearted nature yet troubled past reflects with Ryuzo Mercar's determination to stay kind and patient regardless of their ominous condition. Jin also brings massive chaotic good energy, just like Rook.

Syvis breathed heavily in the steaming, mineral-rich bath of the round table. Red, sensitive skin tingling under the hot water, her muscles screaming. She was completely submerged to her nose, delighting in the crushing pressure on her lungs. She had transported the two of them to the roundtable hold, where Morgott and his father had secured the slumbering demigod. Morgott's jaw had tightened, his gaze widening momentarily as it darted towards Godfrey before settling on Messmer's still form, surprise yielding swiftly to a wary look. Godfrey had let out a soft, disbelieving exhale, his attention fixed on Messmer's motionless body. A deep crease had formed between his brows, a clear sign of worry, yet his hands remained close to the hilt of his axe, almost subconsciously. I’ll have to ask about that later. Though, she had been thankful to not be there when he awoke. The sealed cut on her shoulder, a loving souvenir of their introduction, twinged. Gods, I love magic.

She groaned as the scalding water seared the small scales forming in patches across her skin. Syvis was rarely truly alone - even Melina had taken off at one point in the Capital. For reasons still unknown to her, she held a curse, some kind of vengeful force within her. Perhaps ‘being’ offered it sentience it didn’t have, it was more an overwhelming blood lust, that occasionally spoke, something with the capacity to sway her mind. A jolt of red energy erupted, furiously crackling around her. Touchy. The pain in her ribs had been the precursor, it rarely leaves without a more electric display.

It had already taken a toll on her body, each flare-up had led to more changes; scales, muscles, her eye… She had kept her sanity only thanks to Melina, who had approached her after she had ripped apart a tree sentinel. She squeezed her eyes at the memory. That poor horse. There she was given torrent, in a surprising amount of poor taste, her guidance and 3 golden binds. "I grant you these bindings, once worn by Queen Marika herself, imbued with the very essence of her grace." She had tied them gently to her armour, the first person in the lands between to bestow kindness upon the savage killer. "These shall stay the influence of your... other self."

It had been a few hours since he had arrived, and she assumed by now the rest of the roundtable had spoken with him. Except for me, of course... She was surprised to hear that Melina recognised Messmer in some way. Godfrey’s peculiar demeanour gave rise to some questions as well, definitely something to investigate. A growing need for air made her lungs ache, but she remained submerged, savouring her throat tensing on instinct. Or you could… stay out of family issues.

The thought of him, a delicious dread that slid a cold finger down her spine despite the bath's heat, made her focus on her new guest specifically, the power he was capable of wielding… and she knocked him out. She pulled a face. He would be pissed, that was certain…. A flash of his cold, dangerous gaze crossed her mind, the movement of his hips on hers. Well, he wasn't exactly being reasonable. He seemed… preoccupied with his ‘Duty’. Fortunately for her, the roundtable common areas held a protective spell, and no physical harm would befall her, although it did not extend to verbal lashings. His face flashed in her mind as her throat seized, trying to convince her to surface, the pressure of the water echoing his weight on her. He resembled Radagon, both in face and hair, and she mused that he was not unattractive. If a little… strange. There was a regal quality to him, a similar controlled intensity to the way he had moved during their fight, a strange sort of… captivating power. How unique the children of Marika all are! And those serpents! How regal and vibrant! She burst above the water level, gasping, chest moving heavily. She felt the air return to her lungs with a satisfying itch.

The smile from the sensation waned, her gold eye glazing over in thought, her crimson one thrumming with a potent fading power, the lingering echo of the entity within. It is curious, though…he resembled Melina more than Syvis cared to admit; there was a similar ethereal quality to their gaze, her companion had been without her memories for a very long time. Perhaps they are related? She felt a soft twinge in her ribs, the scent of lavender and fire blossom thick in her nostrils. The damned thing is still more active than I’d like, she glanced at the pale window. I’ve spent too long here already, it’ll have to do. Her condition was kept quiet from the other demi-gods; only Melina held her secret, she preferred it that way - less to trust - but it made for difficult days. She finally stood, water retreating off her body as she stretched.

She took an initial step out of the bath, testing the presence in her chest, behaving for now, it seems. The cool air sent bumps across her skin, and she grabbed her towel quickly. After patting herself dry, she wrung the excess water out of her long brown hair, feeling it itch at her back as strands escaped the cloth vice. The hairs on her neck raised. “It’s rude to intrude upon another’s bathing, didn’t you tell me that?” Syvis spoke into the misty room, the scent of burnt wood and Erdleaf petals swirling as Melina stepped silently towards her. "Indeed. Yet, if memory serves, you held that true honour resided in respect for a fair duel. Your recent... acquaintance has shared the particulars of your initial meeting." Melina said, her tone dry. Syvis snorted. I imagine he kept a few to himself. Her gold eye fell over her friend as she dried the left side of her face. “So he’s not pleased?”

"Nay, not in the slightest."

Wonderful. I’m sure Godfrey will have words for me. I’m going to need to talk to him soon; no point putting it off further. She reached for her enchanted bandage, Melina’s brainchild, but saw her soft, glowing hands already lifting them up. The two quietly wrapped Syvis in the cloth, as they had done so before. Melina traced the gold glow of the runes across the bandage on her back, checking for any rips from her recent dance. She hummed in thought, and Syvis found herself staring at her delicate features, so like his, yet softer… maybe even prettier. Syvis found herself suppressing a smile. I’ve tangled with worse egos. He’ll be eating out of my hand by the time I’m done.

Syvis returned her focus to Melina, who had begun to pass over her armour, recently repaired. “He looks like you”, Syvis observed, her gaze lingering on a shared sharpness around the eyes. More of a question than a statement. Melina continued her inspection uninterrupted, “He claims kinship... It is, perhaps, a plausible connection." Syvis frowned at her words, fumbling with leather latches as she continued to dress, her mind already racing. “Are you not intrigued?” she pressed, her voice laced with a hint of urgency. “This might be a way for you to learn more about your past”.

Melina stood up, satisfied with the integrity of the seal beneath Syvis’s armour. Her familiar gentle eye pointed directly into Syvis’s golden one, holding her gaze. Even you don’t look into it…, what do you see? Syvis flickered her gaze to the red iris in the mirror’s reflection. What did he see? Why did he look? She returned her attention to Melina, a familiar unease stirring. I thought I got over that particular transformation already. It had been… difficult. “Let us not hasten, Syvis,” Melina said, her tone firm, a subtle worry tightening the corners of her eyes. “Our knowledge of him, and of Miquella, is... incomplete.” Her tone was firm, is she worried about me? Worried about me? Please. I handled him well enough… She felt a slight blush on her neck. I just… the situation became… distracting. “He may have sought his demise for reasons yet unknown.” Ever the pessimist. Melina always seemed to approach new individuals with a deep-seated suspicion, a careful testing of their intentions before fully trusting them – a process Syvis herself had undergone all that time ago.

Syvis finished the last buckle on her breastplate, the weight of the metal settling comfortably, a familiar reassurance against the unknown. Layers of protection against his inevitable fury, she thought, a faint curl touching the corner of her lips. She pulled a comb through her long, dark hair, trying not to look too hard at the burn scar across her red eye– a faint white sheen that pulsed faintly when the curse stirred. She felt Melina plait some strands, her touch gentle and precise, weaving them into the gold band across her head, her crown. Syvis sighed, dropping her hand. “I suppose he’s fully filled in then?” she whispered, her mouth turning downward. "I was informed he bore it as well as one might expect… Still, I would counsel caution in your words when you next meet him." Melina faced her, satisfied with her Lord's appearance. Syvis scoffed, “I’m sure there’s the perfect dialogue for I killed your mother and now am Elden lord, sincere apologies.” Melina gave a ghost of a smile, but her eyes showed more concern than humour. Syvis was very thankful for that protection spell indeed. As was Melina.

Me and five of the muses who live in my head creating 3 different Elden Ring OCs and none of them are even the OC I set out to make before starting the game Autism below the cut

Ok so originally I wanted to make an Empyrean OC of some sort I just didn't know *how* because there's no real way of doing that without veering into Mary Sue territory even with Messmer being a secret Marika kid all along providing just a tad bit of leeway There is always the camp of, "who fuckin' cares if your character is a Mary Sue just have fun with it" and the answer to that very rhetorical question is: me. I care. I care about making OCs that are believable and fit into the story that I am creating them for.

This isn't meant to come across as elitist and other people can do what they want and I'm not judging them, but I do judge myself harder than any other person on the planet.

Holding myself to certain standards is a default I cannot toggle and while sometimes it is annoying, since I do write professionally it's better I don't fight it lol

Maybe my subconscious will cook up an Empyrean OC anyway somehow, idk, but the OCs I do have thus far:

My Current Tarnished

I'm kinda just making her up as I go along, but from the beginning I knew two very important things about her: one, she was a student at Raya Lucaria and two, she always has loved and admired Princess Ranni This is because I wanted to be an Astrologer (I'm always either a mage, an elf, or both in these sorts of games) and I knew that I wanted take the Ranni route for my first playthrough She is wife, she is queen, she...is everything okay? I'm very very much gay for her<3 LOVE Ranni, LOVE the moon, PRAISE the stars, KILL the Fingers, shrimple as! Ranni is just too wife to ignore, if you get it, you get it! (I wish there was more art of her w/ female Tarnished but beggars can't be choosers)

I don't have a definitive name for my Tarnished, I'll come up w/ a better one than my character name later, and I'm still playing (80 hours in, 2 Runes, no big hurry) so I'm excited to get to know her more!

2. Varré's Finger Maiden

She shows up completely unannounced in my mindspace and demands an entire fic? How did this happen? xD I'm 1.3k deep into it (it was supposed to be just a oneshot pwp like 1,000 words but who was I kidding?? Not her) (I'm not even into the smut yet) and I'm taken off guard at just how appealing Varré was for me from the getgo I am no stranger to a strong case of "HEAR ME OUT" and certainly not to sadistic characters but prior to playing myself he sorta flew under my radar--next thing I know I'm spending like two nights finding a dead maiden to stain the cloth and progress his quest

Varré's finger maiden is passive and skittish, generally fearful of the world they live in and her own fragility Headcanoning here but it's not hard to imagine that the maidenless Tarnished might try to kill the maidens of their peers out of jealousy or otherwise petty motives, so to that end she's really clingy to Varré and ofc he indulges it

Her greatest fear is that the world won't ever recover from The Shattering, that she'll die before then, or that Varré will stop seeing Grace and lose all pathways to Elden Lord thus dooming them both She's told she has to keep him on the right road, but... Instructions unclear, having sex instead oops<3

3. Miquella follower

So this is an alternate version of my Tarnished character, except maybe I'll go with Confessor as a starting class in a new game plus? I sorta want to use the "join Miquella" mod for this, too? I've never modded a game before so maybe....

I will build this character more as I go through the game, but the rough idea is that her seeking out the Great Runes isn't to become Elden Lord but for Miquella as she was his follower in life She's a devotee who, if she becomes a lord, hopes that she will be accepted by him as a knight or lesser-consort (she'd never want to get in the way of him and Radhan~) Either way she is going to give it all to him, no brainwashing necessary but very much welcomed The Confessor description says they're a spy, so it would play into that to have her using the Greater Will for a change and it'd give me a chance to maybe experiment with non-magic weapons?

All my friends know I love a pretty shota character so Miquella was always gonna be a hit with me >:3

All these characters look roughly the same, the finger maiden fic is Reader insert so other than her eyes being golden I'm not going to go into too much detail there but she looks a lot like my Astrologer.

My Confessor (guess I already decided) will obtain golden eyes with Miquella's favor and her hair will turn blond, too, probably....maybe.....obviously all this is super self indulgent and I have black hair so not sure on that yet all my self inserts tend to have black or blue hair so it would be a first however it feels important for the lore so WE'LL SEE WE'LL SEE1!!

So yeah those are my Elden Ring characters I might eventually try to draw them!!! Fun times ahead!! Balancing some fic w/ my original book projects and we movin' a little every day...

i think radagons kids should be trolls, and that mogh and morgot should maybe also be trolls? but messed up somehow?

i think maybe... merikas kids who arent miquella & trina should be humans...

i also think Godwin and Ranni should be a cherub...

i think Radahn and Mogh Could be a cherub but i think it fits more with the Themes if theyre a troll and a human or something and theyre fused together in a horrifying meat effigy in some sick attempt to make him into a cherub somehow.

Ranni & Godwin, Ranni predominated by cheating so is in a similar situation to the canon cherubs, but also bodiless. maybe closer to "ult" dave and rose than the cheubs... or the silly robo

Melania, hatched already within predominion, hatched already rotting, no other half.

Miquella & Trina, cursed to be incapable of predominion, also Miquella is the Lord half i think... either that or theyre both muses...... hm...

Messmer, stunted by Merika's seal, incapable of predominion, but i think his companion snakes could be his other halves? or maybe like Melania he was born "wrong" but instead of hatched in predominion or being incapable of it, Messmer never differentiated, and is permanently in a fucked up 'wriggler' cherub state... somewhere between pre-predominion, wrigglerhood, and a mating form, yk, with the snakes. maybe thats why he's cursed by her.
