I love it when Sircantus’ demons win and I get to nibble on the lovely ideas and spin them around in my brain like a microwave <333
Fae!Tommy sending Wilbur out to go and retrieve trinkets and instead bringing back a wild Em Duo is so silly to me and I love it. Em Duo didn’t even realize that they were bargaining chips here- But now they’re stuck with the two of them.
Does Tommy try to get their names as well? Or is it more a matter of they owe him because Tommy freed them from prison and getting executed? I’d argue that a life debt is probably just as potent as handing over their names
OOOOOOH I DIDNT EVEN THINK ABOUT A LIFE DEBT BUT YOURE SO RIGHT
Tommy would absolutely demand names as payment for saving them from execution. He’s taking Wilbur’s “gift” with both hands and he’s utterly gleeful about it. Not sure how emduo would go about that but i do have a sideplot of the au in my head— in the specific moment of Tommy getting rid of the guards and breaking down the prison, Phil realizing at last why Wilbur has been a little odd all throughout their travele, it’s because he’s a fae’s human. Which then leads into a scene where Phil and Techno are about to escape in the chaos but hesitate at the sight of Wilbur being unable to join them (bc he got told by Tommy to stay until he’s done dealing with the other humans)
And from THERE comes Techno being SIGHHH OK EVERYONE BE COOL WE’RE GONNA TRY TO STEAL A NAME BACK FROM THE FAE
which. I dont even know how they would do that but A for effort on their part. Wilbur hears Techno say that and is like YOURE FUCKING INSANE but now Phil really wants to try stealing from a fae so there’s no stopping it, theyre so doomed
Overall though i feel like the inevitable outcome would be Tommy still getting all their names and then being like “well i cant say this trip outside of the forest wasnt worth it! That was fun. Anyway im going home, can you guys steal a dragon egg for me i want a dragon egg”
#sircantus asks#this au is getting out of hand#im starting to make aus off it thats how you know its getting bad#sbi

Okay im gonna be brave and tell yall about the au in my head so please be nice
TW: death, like a lot of it (it doesnt stick (most of the time)) and themes alluding to pedophilia and sexual assault (dont worry not in a positive light)
Non-human Bruce au
Background: Marcile Arkham (Martha Wayne is a name she took when she married Thomas) is a siren, mostly human shaped, psychic, winged-creatures, created by Desire* of the endless, creatures designed to feed on hubris, dealing with humans who hunger for and abuse power, ever changing, largely genderless beings whos only ever-present unchanged feature is their eyes, which is also where humans develop the uncanny valley instinct, the sirens, their natural predators.
They are NOT able to kill, hence Bruce's no kill rule, however most of the people they feed on are left brain dead, as hubris had overtaken their mind leaving nothing else, to avoid hostile spirits, the sirens and merfolk have a treaty, the sirens feed and the merfolk, get live prey. A win win for both groups of people.
Martha is also the crown of her people, cursed to a tragic death, however, as a consolation Lazarus, a daughter of Death, had long since blessed the bloodline, marked by a white streak the whole blood line had when wearing whatever they made their 'natural' face, to be able to die and come back, if hunting should go wrong and a human get one good hit in, hey would come back, the bloodline would continue. Time (for those unaware time is the father of the endless)also took advantage of the bloodline, utilizing, their ability to come back, throwing the children of the crown through time to fix something, starting at the age of twelve and leaving them their until he remembered to put them back from whence they came, giving the Arkham's much fuller, but very scattered lives.
It is also of note that the fae are offshoots of sirens in this au, the fae are far more cruel versions of their genetic ancestors, they steal names for no reason from innocents, where sirens take them for silly goofs but leave copies for their original owners, keeping their names safe. Neither are able to lie, but where fae stick solely to the truth, sirens will gracefully waltz around it, using misdirection to lead people to the conclusion the want them to end up with. They are beings of desire, the sirens, and desires cannot lie. And neither species can break any promises, oaths, or deals they make. This is very important for this au.
*Due to Desire's feud with Dream, sirens cannot sleep or enter the dreaming unless invited by the King, this wouldn't really matter if a siren was taking care of themselves.
Martha warned Thomas her bloodline was cursed, that if he married her, they would die together in front of their child during its 8th year, that if he really wanted to be with her they would never see their child's milestones, that their child would never see their child's milestones. And Thomas always felt guilty about that, but he loved this woman more than anything. And their child was beautiful, a bit confusing due to the way gender worked but still he loved Saphron and the icy blue eyes the babe possessed and treated the inky black wings on their back with care. And so he stuck with his wife, struck down first in the alley when the time came.
8 year old Saphron, wearing a face Thomas had named Bruce, who always knew his parents would die tragic deaths, that they'd never be able to avoid it, putting himself in a time loop to type and save them anyway, and being in the loop for longer than he's actually been alive.
Bruce, finally accepting his parents death, ending the loop and getting shot by Joe chill point blank in the head, a sad end to the Wayne line. Chill runs, the hole in Bruce's head stitches it's self back together, he's supposed to run, pick a new face, and run, find new hunting grounds far from Gotham. But Bruce has a heart that's too big for his body, so he lingers, seeing his parents faces for the first time, their auras no longer tethered to them, no longer obscuring their faces, they aren't in there anymore. All that's left is the flesh. He stays gathering all his mother's pearls and just, looking at the bodies.
Cultural rules say he can't stay in the manor, not that the media will ever know that, Bruce can return if he must but only when he has a child. But he's 8. So he finds a new place to nest, an abandoned orphanage in disrepair. How poetically fitting, the little orphan bird nesting in place once meant for many other birds like him.
The media believes Bruce is being homeschooled, but he's really just going with a different face, a little girl with mouse brown hair named Tiffany Martin, an unassuming face that made hunting easy, humans looking for an easy target, something no one would really notice is what they would go for and that's what Tiffany was designed to be. And easy looking target for easy hunting, Gotham made it easy too, the shithole was crawling with easy prey, (mostly) men who thought they were entitled to whatever they wanted, whenever they wanted it.
We all know the saying birds of a feather flock together, and flock they did. Oliver and Bruce had been essentially siblings, as Oliver's parents never cared for each other, let alone Oliver, Martha had basically been his mother and Thomas his father, spending more time at the Wayne's than at the Queen's, everyone in the manor treating him like another member of the family, he was just as affected by their deaths as Bruce was, mourning his parents just as Bruce was. His parents didn't particularly care, so he found himself in the orphanage right beside his sibling helping preen the spots on their wings they couldn't reach, playing games his father would claim belonged to poor men, games that were as old as the Arkham's, who probably helped create them. He felt more at home in the orphanage than he did in the mansion where his bed was. Harvey came from a long line of lawyers, dragged between the Queen's and the Wayne's leading to all three being friends, though the Wayne's and Dent's saw how Harvey would follow Bruce around like a puppy.
Years went on until Bruce was twelve eventually being thrown back to the Mycenaean age (tail end of the bronze age, the ancient Greece of ancient Greece) next to a girl around his age, and though he couldn't see her, he could hear what she was thinking, or rather, praying, begging any God that would listen to prevent her from being sacrificed, begging to miraculously free her from the ropes that bound her arms and legs. Bruce could also hear the thoughts of the men chanting and setting up whatever ritual the girl was to be sacrificed for, disgusting horrid thoughts, thoughts that drove greed for power, for control. Perhaps Time was being kind, serving Saphron a feast on a silver platter, well, limestone really. And feast Saphron did, a bloody sight it was, a hundred bodies surrounded the altar, thoughts long since silenced, apart from the girl they had absolutely terrified, now silently praying the shifting being would eat her next.
After swearing up and down they wouldn't eat her, Saphron introduced themselves as they untied the girl and asking for her name, who foolishly handed it over, Selene, but Saphron wasn't cruel, though another name was added to their repertoire, the girl remained in possession of her name, be it only a copy, and they told the human as much. The girl was not very pleased about it, but couldn't do much about it. She asked where he, no, she? (Saphron promised to explain later) had come from, inquiring as to how they had found entry into the temple, as a stone that took three men to move had very much, not moved. Saphron spared many details and gave very vague answers, though the questions were answered as they moved the boulder out of the way so the two of them could leave.
The beach was beautiful and the water, which Saphron usually avoided looking at (to many ghosts in the sea) was an endless sparkling and clear stretch. There were very few things that left sirens in awe, the beauty of the natural world would always be one of them. Saphron asked the girl where they were hurriedly, desperate to visit once they got back to what should be their present. Lesbos, Selene told them, Saphron wondered if it was still as beautiful as this, if it's beauty remains in their present.
I won't bore you with the details of Saphron's stay in lesbos (yet 👀) but I will tell you that eventually the two marry, and Selene gains immortality and eventually Saphron must go back to present day Gotham, no longer twelve, no, much older than that, and everyone they know, it's much easier to find more traditional shelter, finds an apartment and makes themselves at home, making sure the space is comfortable for his brother, who has been desperate for any sort of emotional care that he slept on rotting beds in freezing rooms, and a childhood puppy-love that they were now much older than, but still cared for, and if he would not leave, they would make sure Harvey still had somewhere to go.
Despite aging thousands of years, Tiffany still attended school, and thoroughly despised the way people much younger than her treated her, knowing she was hundreds of times their senior, and attempted to ensure Oliver still had a relationship with his biological parents, as Bruce, all three boys spent their time at the Queen's. One such visit, as Oliver's all but lived with Bruce, had Bruce experienced time in the linear fashion as most do, he would have been sixteen, Oliver's mother called him over to talk alone.
it was no secret that Oliver's parents didn't marry of their own volition, a marriage solely to build the power of family names and nobody in their tax bracket stays faithful in those sorts of arrangements, and Moira Queen is pregnant, no real surprise there, it happens. however she doesn't want to keep the child and, commented on how his mother used to behave in a way so far from human despite Martha's best efforts and, thinking Bruce is fae, offers the unborn child in return for freedom, she's been trapped in a marriage she never wanted, and already had a child she wishes she hadn't, she doesn't care how he does it, make them disappear, make her disappear, make them all forget about each other, it doesn't matter she just wants out.
now Bruce can see where the confusion with the fae comes in, they have a habit of borderline stealing children, always making them the first and often most popular form of payment, a mutated instinct from their sirenic roots, to take in the unwanted babes only asking for them when its clear their blood never cared to begin with. the behavior could be considered the reverse of brood-parasitism, brood-mutualism, if you will. he doesn't correct her.
so of course, Bruce accepts, why wouldn't he? Oliver is over practically 24/7 only coming home when Bruce makes him, and Bruce can always boost Queen Industries, making Robert stay later and ensuring Moira essentially has the house to herself. the child may be human but they don't have to stay that way.
Oliver is happy to live in Saphron's apartment permanently, or until his father decides to drag him into taking over QI, he'll probably get his own place at that point. the baby is born, a human girl, not that it will matter for long, Saphron picks a name and face for the babe to have as a mother, Nicole Queen, and has the boys give the babe a name for them to use amongst the humans, (usually the father would be responsible for this but Oliver and Harvey will have to do) and Saphron gives the child their true name. the boys gift her the name Dorothea, as it sounds closest to their true name of Anathema, both having 'Thea' as a nickname. (i really liked Arrow okay? leave me alone)
turning someone to any species on earth is relatively easy process, though extremely painful, and it's recommended that if you are going to turn someone, it should be done young enough so they are least likely to remember it, especially if the turning includes their death and resurrection. so Bruce carefully goes about replacing all the baby's blood with their own, a slow process, Saphron laments they cannot sleep for. but eventually, they babe's breath hitches and rattles out, heart beat ceases, before starting back up again as glowing green liquid cradles the child in their crib and caresses their head leaving a white streak in their hair. upon hearing the babe's cooing, Saphron scrambles for their glasses to look at the child properly, smiling down at the child as they play with the new white streak that peers out of brown hair.
the procedure took, the child is theirs, in any court, mytho or mortal, no one can take it from them, only they could be taken from the child. well that would be true, if the curse on their blood recognized the child the way it should, it however, does not. the curse has no idea what to do with this child, decides since the child was not technically born, it has no claim to the curse, making Saphron the end of the bloodline and destroys itself, as it sees no reason to stay if there is no more line to curse.
of course Saphron has no idea this is the case, and goes about raising the child as usual, teaching her to hunt, shift, strengthen her song, Saphron of course, adds in things their mother never taught them, mostly things to blend in with humans, showing emotion through body language and facial expressions, eating their food (despite it not doing anything of value for them) was especially difficult because some of the textures really sucked, though they found success in mixing hubris into the food so Thea would eat it, it also made meal times easier for Saphron, no longer needing to guess how much of a plate to eat from. this did cause some issues when Thea started school, and resulted in Nicole getting many calls about how Thea refused to share her food so none of her classmates would have any reactions to her food. (a very fun conversation for a being who cant lie, but also cant explain that humans should not be consuming the things their people do, lest they go mad. (Nicole lets the teacher assume Dorothea is very considerate of the allergies her classmates may or may not have))

yue let out a heavy sigh as she finally reached the small cove past the forest, she remembered the caves and cliffs near this area, but yue felt content to have her alone time here. She made a mental note to come back in the morning to visit more of the ocean side. she continued her brief walk before she reached the sands, sitting down.
Yue felt a sense of relief as she finally unpacked a few contents of her purse, a cigarette container, a matchbox, and a book entitled, ‘fantastical beast of the yorbian continent.’ Kastro had ridiculed her for coming home with that book a few weeks ago, ‘half of those are just myths,’ he grumbled. After the sprites had dropped him in the middle of the air, he damn well couldn’t deny the existence of, some creatures anymore.
Sprites definitely existed, that was that.
a few had followed her on her journey to the hidden cove, but it never bothered yue. She smiled as the water sprites played with her soft locks. It seems they’ve taken a liking towards her just as they did when she was a child. She secretly hoped grandfather would have trecked with her, but his work at the pier consumed most of his evenings.
the waterfolk had been making the waves rougher due to unknown reasons. It was something she’d notice herself upon arrival. They much more chaotic than when she was a child. The waves were much kinder here, and the wind was nonexistent. A perfect place to read.
as she opened her book, she wondered what was throwing the elements into dissarray, had something in the ocean frightened them? yue finally reached the section regarding fae folk, hoiping to find more infomration of the sprites that now braided her hair as a group effort.
a gust of wind blew yue’s book to a close with a small ‘slam.’ the sprites around her suddenly flew off, leaving her to her own comfort. yue frowned, but continued to open her book again to the same page. as she settled her eyes on the words ‘fae sprites,’ another gust had, this time, knocked the whole book out of her hands. She groaned as her hair diseveled in the winds, attempting to fix it back into place.
an odd sensation flooded yue’s nervous system, she felt like a lamb being watched from a distance, a sense of urgency.
yue decided that her precious alone time wasn’t necessary anymore, carefully gathering her belongings into her purse and standing up. Despite feeling more prey than anything else right now, she felt annoyed that she couldn’t smoke a cigarette. another gust knocks her off her feet, she prepared herself for a hard fall into the ground that never came.
yue felt a gentle hand grab her by the waist, helping her regain her footsteps then letting go.
“be careful, you’re lucky you caught my eye,” yue turned around to thank the owner of the enchanting voice, only to be met with the most beautiful grey eyes to exist. She then noticed the rest of the mans face, pale skin, black hair, a very sharp nose… a tattoo on his forehead?
was that a fang peaking out of his smile…? even his eyes seemed unnatural, now that she took a closer look.
Yue barely noticed the wide-ranging wings that were attached to his back. Her eyes widened, taking a step back.
“What- what are you?” Yue blurted out as she covered her face with her hands. She could feel her heart palpitating, the winged man could hear it as well.
‘How charming’ thought the birdman.
Yet he frowned at her, “well, that’s quite rude. I thought humans of the village were quite fimilar with my kind,” he started, yue finally noticed yet another detail about the man. He’s completely naked. She blushed and tried her best to concentrate on his face instead. the man only wore a few necklaces, the largest being an upside down cross with bits of diamonds decorating it. a few rings on his fingers as well, all perfectly shiny and attention grabbing.
“Unless…” the man’s wings began to flutter as he picked himself off the ground. “You’re not from here.” Yue finally regained her senses as he finished speaking. A subtle smirk layed on his face now.
‘She’s fully human, excellent’ he thought to himself.
Yue nodded, thinking back on her memories from chiidhood.
—
‘…And, the water sprites will adore you so long as you give them fruits.’ Linus spoke gently to yue as they sat on the very cove yue was at now, only 15 years later. “But stay away from the damn woodland sprites, they’re overall menaces,” he grumbled, staring at the sunset in the ocean view. Yue giggled in response.
“Granddad! That’s a bad word!” She gasped, “but… what other beast and fae and creatures have you seen?” She continued excitedly. Yue adored her grandfather’s stories deeply. The adults back home would never entertain anything considered magical.
“Hmm… harpies. They’re predomincantly women with both human and avian- uh, i mean bird like features, but they’re deadly. You see darlin’, harpies are masters of the wind and have been known to create sea storms against ships. In my youth, i managed to save my ship crew from a harpy storm after the captain had been knocked out.” Linus explained as the sun finally dissapeared. A few burst of pink and purple still painted the sky before them. The waves of the ocean looked orange.
“Stay away from them at all cost, while they’re mainly women there’s a few males born who wisp away women with their magic.”
“But im not a women yet! I’m a girl, a cute girl at that!” Yue remarked.as she flipped her hair dramatically. Linus began to laugh, happy his sweet angel had her mother’s confidence.
“What else have you seen in the sea?!” Yue asked as she poked her grandfather on the left eye, “get it… see? Sea? You see with your eyes,” she giggled. Linus rolled his eyes but laughed at his granddaughter.
“Have you ever heard of a Capricorn? Gods, you’d adore them…” Linus began.
—
“Harpy,’ yue stated out of nowhere once she regained her senses. “you’re a harpy, yeah? that was you blowing gust of winds at my book,” yue frowned as if massively inconvenienced, delighting the man. “you can’t talk about rudeness when you yourself have been inpolite!” she called out, pointing a finger at him.
‘what the hell am i doing!? grandfather said to stay awa-‘ her thoughts were interupted by the avian’s mesmerizing chuckle. ‘…what did grandfather li say?’
the man landed infront of yue, on one knee as he grabbed her right hand gently, pressing a kiss onto her bare skin. “my name is chrollo, and im terribily sorry for my childish pranks. humans are so interesting to me, i enjoy seeing how your kind react to certain emotions.” chrollo explained as he slowly rose again, without letting go of yue’s hand. in fact, he brought it up to his face again, closing his eyes as he continued to kiss her delicately, slowly.
‘he’s so… so enchanting… i wish kastro would do this…’ yue thought carelessly as she smiled and blushed.
‘fuck, kastro.’
“stay away from them at all cost,” rang across her head.
yue immediately pulled away from the man and squealed, holding her arm as if she’d been hurt.
“i’m sorry! it’s just-‘ yue took a step back, but chrollo only smiled at her, “im married.” she finally blurted out. his smile dropped momentarily, before he smiled at yue once more. a pang of guilt flooded her system as she turned around and began to walk away. “i should go, it’ll be dark out soon,’ she mumbled out.
‘wait! forgive me once more, please, most humans run from the sight of me, it’s awfully lonely.” chrollo began as he quickly moved in front of yue. “your book, it’s about the enchanted creatures, yes? i can show you a few.” chrollo bargained with yue, a look of pity on his face. “I can fly us both around the coast and show you whatever you’d like to see!” He continued.
“i was told to stay away from harpies…” she meekly let out, yue refused to make eye contact with chrollo now. she shouldnt be wrapped up in another man’s beauty, but she couldn’t deny that chrollo was statuesque.
he sighed, nodding his head. “at least give me the pleasure of walking you home, forest gnomes enjoy cruel pranks on unsuspecting travelers at night. they’ll leave me alone, they know better,” chrollo humbly boasted.
‘it is getting dark out… just this and nothing more’ yue reasoned to herself. unfortunately for her, she’d have to find a new spot to hide away in. chrollo could be here again and she didn’t want to fall for his charms. a pang of guilt flooded her system as she thought of kastro once more.
“fine… just this once,” she drawled out. chrollo’s eyes beamed, she could have sworn she saw a flicker of silver shine momentarily. “excellent,” chrollo nodded as he stood to the right of her. they began a half hour hike into the forrest path.
“so, we both know that my name is chrollo, can we also both know what your name is?” chrollo asked in a sweet tone. yue noticed that he walked barefoot, didn’t that hurt? His feet had talons oddly enough, but they still looked akin to that of a human.
“I’m yue, i’m from swardani city.” she finally answered. a swarm of water sprites flew past chrollo and yue, heading back towards the ocean for the night. she felt one briefly kiss her nose before it flew off, much to chrollo’s distaste. he whispered something in an unknown language to the sprites before returning his attention towards yue.
“my! what a unique name, is it specific to your region? are you here on vacation?” chrollo asked, he wanted to get as much information out of her.
“um, i was named after my grandmother, she passed away before i was born. i’m visiting my grandfrather here with my husband.” yue smiled at chrollo, and hoped her answers would suffice for him. yue didn’t feel comfortable revealing her life story to a stranger, even if they weren’t human.
“and your husband let you run off into the forest without any sort of protection? my… human males are so inconsiderate of their lovers.” chrollo rolled his eyes while her cheeks heated.
“in his defense, he’s ill. He’ll sometimes find himself bed ridden during extreme stress,” yue mumbled, feeling more shame as she thought of her gawking at chrollo’s chest. Chrollo snickered as he stretched, subtly flexing his muscles.
“Must be unfortunate to be a man and let your woman do all of the work,” he snickered. Before yue could defend her husband, he changed the subject, “anyway, humans from the city don’t often see creatures like us, do they? “
“You’re quite… curious,” yue began, counting down the minutes until they’d be near the village, “but… yes. Most of the people there would call me insane for admitting that i took a stroll through the forest with a harpy,” she giggled. “You’re all fairytales to them, but the villagers know better.” She concluded.
“Oh! How dreadfully boring must their lives be? No enchantment… how awful,” Chrollo groaned at the thought of living in a city filled with humans and only humans… packed like sardines in cans they’re so fond of. Disgusting. “If you’re from the city, how come my existence doesn’t frighten you?” Chrollo edged on, waiting for he answer.
Yue debated on how to answer that question. The last thing she wanted to do was add insult to injury and admit that she felt a sort of… lust towards a harpy while she had a loyal husband waiting for her return. There was no other explanation for what she felt when Chrollo touched her. It was shameful, embarrassing…
“My grandfather told me about you when i was younger, apparently you’re predominantly woman, start sea storms, and you enjoy whisking away helpless women,” yue elaborated, very carefully worded and thought out.
A slightly dishonest answer, Chrollo didn’t like that.
Yet, he chuckled at her response. “Yes, most harpies are women. It doesn’t change their nature though, most of us have the same behavioral patterns. Hmm… as for the storms, it’s only when humans attempt to take what’s ours. We see no reason to disturb the nature of things so long as we’re left to our devices. And we don’t ‘whisk them away,’ all of our mates come to us by their own accord!” Chrollo finally huffed, offended at the thought of being perceived in such a brutish manner.
Yue could sense a change in the atmosphere, she didn’t like to see Chrollo upset, it didn’t suit his smile or baby face…
“I’m sorry, it’s just rumors that I’ve heard… but what do you mean by ‘take what’s ours?’ As in your treasures?” She asked. As harpies, a part of them gave into the avian instinct to collect shiny objects. Chrollo didn’t seem to be an exception, the jewels that graced his body showed that.
“Something like that… anyway, back to the matter at hand- you! Tell me more things about you.” Chrollo once again changed the subject, “you’re such an odd little human, i desire to know more,” he added, not missing the way she turned from him to blush.
This is gonna be a long walk.
—
Chrollo had asked yue every possible question he could think of. By the end of the walk, he’d known her favorite color, family members, close friends, favorite meals, holidays, whatever he could think of would be asked. Yue was overwhelmed by the amount of talking but couldn’t refuse the man’s curiosity.
“Alright, the village is right there, it was nice meeting you but i need to be home soon,” yue concluded as she stepped out of the last trees. Chrollo sighed as he leaned against a tree, keeping himself hidden amongst the shadows to anyone else.
“Hmm… I’ll be near the cove if you’d like to speak again. I had a wonderful time getting to know you,” Chrollo extended his arm to her. Yue smiled and accepted it, letting herself get pulled into his body for a hug.
Harpies are so touchy, do they understand the concept of personal space? They’re naked all of the time… their social cues are different for sure.
“Ill keep that in mind,” she replied before releasing herself from his hold. She continued to walk back home, avoiding looking back at all cost. She heard the flutter of his wings pick up as he flew off into the sky.
Unbeknownst to yue, Chrollo few ahead of her to make sure she safely made it home. He sighed as she finally reached the old mans place and unlocked the door. ‘Good, she’ll be back soon.’ He thought to himself, hoping that his hunt was finally over. ‘They’ll all know soon… hmm, to make a show or to remain the shadows.. i could use some fun.’ There were still men out in the peers, hauling up the last of the crates they’d ship out in the morning. Half of the town had their lights on…
Chrollo flew out of his tree and higher into the sky, growing closer to the ships by the bay. His increased hearing could already hear the whispers down below.
‘Is that.. what is it?’
“Dammit! Why here? Why now?”
“Honey, take the children inside, don’t come out…”
He laughed at their paranoia, before reaching the first ship and landing on one of the lifts. He fluttered his wings as a few of the men fell back and screamed at him.
“Harpy! Why are you here?!” A young sailor screamed out at him, Chrollo simply laughed as a gust of wind knocked the sailor over. They knew he was here now, it’s what he wanted.
Chrollo flew off into the night sky once more, eager to return to his tower. let them guess, he’s sure they know he’s ready for his mate to come to him.

As Y/n finished walking around the store, cleaning, she thought back to the morning two days ago.
She had just woken up and was walking towards her father's kitchen for breakfast when she heard it. A cough. She quickened her pace, entering the kitchen to find her father bent over, his body heaving from the coughs.
She rushed to him, helping him to the nearest chair. When she bought him some water, he smiled up at her gratefully.
"How many times do I have to tell you to take some rest, father? Why won't you let me help you?"
"I might be getting old, but not that old that I need to rely on my daughter to help me earn. Unless you are trying to steal my shop?"
"Father!" She said, exasperated, even though she knew he was just saying that to irritate her. "You are staying home till you get better. I'll take care of the shop."
"But you don't know anything about it." At the glare she gave him, he finally conceded. "Let me help for today atleast. Show you how to handle it. I promise I'll rest."
She had come to visit and stay with her father for some days, having just quit her previous job, searching for a new one. They were well off, the house that Y/n lived in owned by her. She had wanted to see if her father needed any help around. Which he didn't. He wasn't very old and ill by any means, he just didn't know when to stop. That's why she had already made her father agree to closing the store earlier and taking the weekends off.
As Y/n put away the cleaning equipment in the back of the store, the bell above the door rang, announcing the arrival of a customer. As she hurried to the front desk, she caught a glimpse of the beautiful male that was waiting from behind a shelf.
He had dark crimson hair cascading over his shoulder that looked like fire, with one russet eye and one that was a golden metal one, which was whirring. A scar marred the skin surrounding that eye and trailed to his jaw.
Y/n quickly averted her gaze when she realised she was staring. He hadn't yet noticed her though, looking around the shop. She stepped out from behind the shelf and cleared her throat.
He turned to her at once, giving her a warm smile.
"Hello. How can I help you today?" She asked with a small smile.
"I'm looking for enchanted gardening gloves."
She wracked her brain for the location of said gloves before perking up. "Right this way." As she led the way, he followed a respectful distance away. To fill the silence, she spoke up. "Are you from Night Court? You don't seem like you're from here."
"Yes. I'm from... Autumn Court." His hesitation was evident, and Y/n didn't push.
"Here we are." She said, stopping in front of the gloves stacked neatly on a shelf. She left him alone when he nodded.
She began sorting out her desk, her father's, really, which was near the entrance to the shop.
By the time she finished, the male was done with his browsing and bought out the gloves to the desk to pay for them. The whole ordeal went silently and quickly. With a word of thanks and a 'good day', he was on his way.

Lucien's pov.
He stared at her. His mate.
He wondered if, under other circumstances, she would have not despised him. Could she have ever loved him the way others loved their mates? Would the two of them be together if there was no cruelty in this world?
He answered those himself.
The first one? Probably.
The second one? Maybe.
The third one? No.
Because, if there was no cruelty in this world, his love, one his father had killed, would not be dead. Jesminda would be alive still. And if she was alive, he wouldn't care for anything, even his own mate.
And maybe that made him an asshole, but he couldn't bring himself to care as he stared at Elain smiling at the Shadowsinger from the corner of the room, nursing a glass of whiskey.
He looked around the room, his eyes landing on the gift he'd bought for her. It was enchanted gardening gloves so her hands wouldn't get cut. Of course, the present had been discarded in a corner, unopened. It wasn't as if she didn't notice the gift. No, he had seen her look at it before placing it aside from her other gifts.
He'd seen her do that, and his heart had been pierced by an arrow. At least it felt like it.
As he stared at the gift, his mind drifted to the shop where he had bought it from. The shop run by the female. He didn't know why, but he couldn't stop thinking about her. She hadn't even said much, but she had simply caught his attention.
He blinked when a loud laugh interrupted his thoughts, looking at the inner circle sitting in the center of the room and having the time of their lives, while he sat in the darkest corner he could find. He knew he didn't fit in here, and that most of them didnt trust or like him.
He didn't know why he had accepted Feyre's invitation to stay for the night when he knew he'd be miserable.
He had thought that maybe, just maybe, they would include him in their fun. At least for one night.
He felt so dumb now.
After a little bit of contemplation, he decided it best if he left. No one was going to miss him anyways.
Quietly, he downed the whiskey in his glass, then rolled onto his feet. He set the glass on a nearby table, then turned towards the door. He walked towards it, his boots making no noise.
As he exited the room, there was no sign of the festivities slowing down. None. He removed his coat from the nearby hook, donning it as he stepped out, the door clicking shut behind him.
It wasn't until Lucien was out of the house that the sounds faltered for a brief moment, but then the laughter started back again, and Lucien sighed, his breath misting in front of him. He stared at the little cloud of fog in front of his face.
He didn't want to go home– if it could even be called that– not yet. The night was still young. Maybe he would go on a little walk around Velaris before he returned to the mortal lands.
He started the trek across the city, walking slowly, letting his mind wander, his eyes seeing everything but taking nothing in. It was like a waste of time, looking at the beauty but not caring enough to appreciate it.
He sighed, making his way through the vibrant market place. The children running around the place, candies in their hand, adults lingering around the place with their lovers and families truly added to the beauty of the festival.
But Lucien's eyes were unseeing, his heart unfeeling as he avoided the running and giggling children.
Someone slammed into Lucien from somewhere near him, and that finally broke him out of the haze that he'd been in.
He glanced at the fae leaning against him, trying to gain her footing in the crowded area.
"I am so sorry. I got pushed–" The female looked up at him, finally stable on her feet. She cocked her head, a smile spreading on her lips. "Oh. It's you."
He returned the smile, somehow easier than it should have been considering the foul mood he'd been. "It's me. I don't think I caught your name this morning."
The lady from the gardening shop grinned, her cheeks rosy, glowing with happiness. "Y/n."
"Lucien." He mumbled, studying her. She nodded, holding out her hand. He took it.
Then they stood there, awkwardly trying to figure out what to say. "Um... enjoying solstice?"
"Yeah." She returned, a relieved expression on her face. "Just left the house after dinner. My father said he's going out with some friends, so I decided to head out for some desserts. You?"
"Not really..." That was not the right answer, but Lucien was struggling to put on his mask of indifference.
"Oh. I'm sorry. Are you alone?"
He smiled ruefully as he looked away. "Very."
After a moment of silence, the lady spoke up again. "What are your thoughts on some cake? Pie? Or maybe cookies?"
Lucien blinked, then glanced at her. "What?"
She grinned, turning away and gesturing with her hand to follow her. Seeing that he had no other reason to haunt the streets of Velaris, he followed her.
She weaved in and out of the crowd, walking with purpose towards her destination. She stumbled sometimes, due to being pushed around by the crowd, but mostly by herself. She seemed to have a problem walking without tripping.
She tripped again, so bad that Lucien had to catch her elbow to stop her from faceplanting. She grinned up at him sheepishly.
"Are you alright?"
"Yes."
"Are you... drunk?"
She shrugged and shook her head. "I don't drink. It's taste is disgusting."
A small smirk made is way into Lucien's face, but he simply nodded at her to keep going. She continued on.
Soon, she was walking into a brightly lit shop, cakes and various baked goods displayed through the glass.
"This is my favourite place for sweets and baked items. It's really good."
She went to open the door, but Lucien stretched out his hand and held it for her. She blinked at him before smiling and stepping in to the warm interior.
"Hello." She greeted the kind looking old lady behing the counter, who smiled widely.
"How are you today?"
"I'm good. How about yourself?" Y/n replied.
"I'm good, I'm good. Just these joints creaking a little extra nowadays."
Y/n grinned fondly. "Maybe you should just get some rest, you old hag."
"Oh shut it. I will rest once I know I have succeded in convincing you to get a partner. Mother knows how lonely you must be."
"I'm not lonely, you old hag. As long as I have you and father, I will never be alone."
"Yeah yeah whatever." Then the old female seemed to notice Lucien, and her eyes lit up. "Are you finally seeing someone?"
Y/n blinked, then glanced at Lucien. Her lips parted, then a flush climbed up her neck. She furiously shook her head, and the old lady sighed.
"Well, hope I'm not dead when you finally decide to interact with others." The female bustled away as other people walked upto the counter to place their order.
Y/n turned to Lucien, her face red, and she gestured to the display of sweets. He grinned when she turned away again. "Choose what you would like to try. I always go for pineapple, but chocolate is also good."
Lucien dipped his head in a nod when she glanced at him to make sure he understood her, and then the two of them went on to get their cakes.
As they were about to leave the shop, the owner of the shop called to him. "Psst. Hey! You!"
When Lucien glanced up questioningly, the lady Y/n had been talking to motioned at him to come closer. He inched towards the counter behind which the lady stood as Y/n talked to another one of the workers.
"What are your intentions for her?" The lady hissed at Lucien as soon as she was sure no one could hear her.
Lucien blinked, taken aback. "What?"
"Don't you dare even think of hurting her. Males have hurt her enough. She is a pure soul, and if you hurt her, then I will carve your eyes out with a spoon. You hear me young man?"
Lucien nodded, dumbfounded. Thank the cauldron though, Y/n decided that moment to walk up to the two of them.
The old lady smiled at her, and then shooed Y/n and Lucien away. Y/n rolled her eyes and led Lucien out of the shop.
She crossed the road and settled onto one of the many benches overlooking the Sidra. She patted the place next to her and he obliged, studying her.
"What were you and the old hag talking about?"
"Nothing..."
Y/n raised a brow but stayed silent as she dug into the treat in her hands.
The two of them sat in silence as they ate, staring at the waters of the Sidra.
Unfortunately, soon enough the two of them were done eating, and Y/n turned to Lucien. She smiled. "Did you like the cake?"
Lucien gave her a smile. A genuine one, one that felt like he hadn't smiled in centuries. He probably hadn't.
"I did. Thank you for making my solstice better."
"I enjoyed the time too, no need to thank me."
And then the two of them parted ways, Lucien thanking her again and her telling him not to worry about it.
Lucien watched her until she had vanished between the crowd, then he turned and decided to walk to secluded place before he winnowed back to human lands.
A soft breeze caressed his face, and he closed his eyes, savoring the cool touch. His mind drifted back to Y/n.
He smiled softly, opening his eyes and leaning his head back, staring at the stars twinkling down at him, as if they were winking.
Maybe... just maybe, not all fae were miserable and hateful.
Maybe there was someone out there, like Y/n, who would not hate him for simply existing.
•○🌑○•
Y/n's pov.
Y/n only had one thought in her mind, and that was to hurry up.
She had been out in the market, getting the things she needed according to the cooking book she had recently bought.
She had decided to surprise her best friend since childhood with a home baked cake, and hence the rush to get home and start the preparations.
The catch?
Y/n was shit at baking.
The few times she had tried to bake, she had either ended with something that was too hard to even be called a rock, or with something that vaguely resembled... puke.
Even thinking about it sent shivers up Y/n's spine.
But back then she hadn't used a cookbook's instruction, she tried to reason with the sane part of her brain, the one that knew this was a bad idea.
Hurry up-
And she smacked into a wall. A very warm wall.
All her bags slipped from her hands and onto the ground as she stumbled back, barely keeping herself from falling onto her ass.
She lifted her head to apologise to whoever she had crashed onto when her eyes met russet and gold. Lucien.
She paused as she watched him cock his head, a little smile spreading on his features.
"I seem to notice a pattern, Y/n."
She lifted an eyebrow as she bent to gather her stuff. He followed. "What pattern?"
She tried to shoo him off by waving her hands, but he either didn't notice or didn't care. "You are always crashing into me. That sounds like a pattern to me."
She scowled, knowing that if her father or any of her friends saw her, they would yell at her for being disrespectful to someone who was helping her.
He grinned, glancing at her as he stood, most of her bags in his hands.
"Do you need any help carrying these?" He questioned when she climbed to her feet too, and she blinked.
"Oh no, it's alright. I'll carry them myself. I don't want to bother you."
"I insist. And it's really not a bother. I have nothing else to do. These are really heavy, let me help."
"You really don't have anything else to do?"
He smiled triumphantly, as if he knew he had won. "I don't."
She sighed. "Fine then. My house is nearby. Thank you vey much."
He shook his head, that smile still on his face. "No worries."
She led him to her house, a peaceful silence between the two.
It wasn't long before they reached her house, and she turned to him, keys in her hand.
"Please come in. Let me make you some tea." That was the least she could do for him.
"Oh no, that is unnecessary, I don't want to bother you. It was my pleasure to help."
"I insist. And it really is not a bother." She smirked, throwing his words back at him.
He shook his head, grinning. "Fine."
She let the two of them in, setting about to get some tea ready. "So, may I ask what you are going to with these?"
When Y/n turned to look at him, he gestured at the bags he set on the counter.
"Because from what I saw outside, these things are usually used for baking."
Y/n smiled. "Yeah. It's my friends birthday today. I was thinking of making her a cake."
"That's great. Do you bake often?"
Her smile now turned sheepish. "No. I tried a couple of times, back when I was younger," -six months ago- "and I damn near brought down the whole kitchen once."
Lucien chuckled. "So now you think you can do it properly?"
She picked up the cookbook nearby and waved it at him. "I will follow instructions this time."
Judging by the amusement in his eyes, she thought he would laugh, but he didn't. He simply extended his hand towards her and asked, "Can I have a look?"
She handed it to him, turning to check on the tea she was brewing.
The sound of the pages being flipped were the only sounds other than her pouring the liquid into cups for the two of them.
When she turned back around, she found him staring intensely at the book, his brows furrowed, a downward tilt to his mouth. She tried to make no noise as she set down the cup in front of him, hoping to not disturb his concentration.
But he glanced up at her, frowning. "This won't work. This is too complicated."
Y/n blinked, taken aback by the seriousness in his eyes and words. "What do you mean?"
He closed the book, setting it aside as he pulled the cup of tea towards him. "Baking is simpler than whatever bullshit is given in there."
"You know how to bake?"
"I helped my mother when I was younger."
"And exactly how many years ago was that?"
His eyes narrowed. "How many years since you baked anything?"
That made Y/n shut up.
She sighed ruefully. "Maybe I'm just not supposed to bake."
Lucien shook his head. "I can help."
She glanced at him. "What?"
He shrugged. "I don't have anything else to do anyways. I can help you bake the cake."
"I don't want to bother-"
"Its not a bother. I would love to help."
Y/n smiled behind her cup as she took a sip of her tea, a warmth spreading through her chest.
"Thank you. I appreciate the gesture." Then, she looked at the redhead for a moment longer before turning away. "And you know what? I am noticing a pattern too."
•○🌑○•
After a day filled with trying to decide on the flavour for the cake, the decorations, making the cake and laughter, it was finally time to sleep.
The party had been perfect, so many memories made, and so many things she could think about.
But no matter what, Y/n couldn't stop thinking about him.
She didn't remember the last time she had enjoyed herself so thoroughly around a male, let alone one she knew nothing about.
And as she went to sleep that night, trying not to think of how his eyes twinkled in amusement when she had dropped an egg on the ground- huffing and puffing- she failed to keep that smile off of her face.
•○●⛦●○•
Lucien's pov.
After the day filled with helping her bake, correcting anything she had been doing wrong and watching as happiness spread across her face when the cake came out almost nearly perfect, it was finally time to sleep.
The day had been perfect, a reprieve from the constant ugly thoughts Lucien had about himself. Memories had been made, though unexpected.
But no matter what, Lucien could not stop thinking about her.
He couldn't remember the last time he'd enjoyed himself so thoroughly around someone, let alone someone he barely knew anything about.
And as he went to sleep that night, trying not to think of how she had jumped around and squealed in excitement- so much so that she had nearly burnt herself by the hot pan- Lucien failed to keep that smile off of his face.
•○🌑○•
Y/n's pov.
Soon enough, Y/n learned that the handsome male with the metal eye, Lucien, was the Lucien Vanserra. The youngest son of the High Lord of Autumn Court.
He frequented the shop after that day they spent baking, him and Y/n becoming fast friends. He'd told her that he lived in the human lands with his friends, Jurian and Vassa.
Recently, she had learned that this Jurian he was friends with was the Jurian from the war centuries ago, the powerful human commander, remade by the Cauldron.
Expect Lucien to surprise a four hundred year old fae who thought she could not be surprised about anything anymore.
Y/n shook her head with an exasperated grin, finishing braiding her hair. She had spent the whole afternoon wondering what hairstyle would look good with her dress for her meeting with Lucien, eventually settling for a simple braid. Few strands framed her face, and she thought it looked better than any elaborate hairstyle she could have done.
Even after six months of being friends with him, he never failed to shock her by telling her things about himself.
He had sent a letter in advance that he would be visiting today, and he wanted to meet with her in their favourite cafe before reporting to the High Lord.
She had, of course, agreed. He was the only friend she had other than the female she had baked for, what with her being cooped up in her home with a book in hand when she wasn't working in the nearby jewellery store.
A knock sounded on the door, and Y/n practically flew down the stairs, taking a deep breath to calm her heart before opening the door.
There he stood in all his glory, smiling at her. The fading sunshine made his hair look on fire, his skin glowing.
"My lady. You look quite...dishevelled." He murmured, his eye twinkling. Y/n frowned, lifting her hand to her hair. It had looked good when she checked it in the mirror. Maybe the braid didn't look as good as she thought it did. In which case, she wanted to go and jump off a cliff.
Before her hand could touch her hair though, Lucien caught it, grinning and pressing a kiss to her knuckles, all the while maintaining eye contact. Y/n blushed.
"When I said dishevelled, I meant you look like you've run a mile. That looks exquisite." He said, straightening and flicking her forehead. "You look exquisite."
"Shut up." She mumbled, shoving his shoulder and stepping out, turning to lock the door. When she had finished, she turned to find him leaning against a pillar of the front porch. He smiled and inclined his head towards the road.
They walked towards the cafe, talking about his past days in the human lands and her job at the jewellery store. How she didn't really care for it and was thinking of taking up something else.
They soon reached the cafe which stood right on the banks of the Sidra and had outdoor seating as well in the backyard, right next to the river. As they settled down in their usual seat in a corner right next to the river, her eyes sharpened on the paper stuck on a nearby wall.
"Hey Lucien? Do you see that?" Y/n questioned, making Lucien glance back at it.
"Yeah. Looks like they're hiring." Lucien's eye lit up as he turned back to her. "You should try." She nodded enthusiastically.
Soon, they finished their food and Lucien was waiting to pay, having insisted on paying while Y/n talked to the hotel's owner. She was quite happy Y/n said she wanted to work there. They finally settled on her starting in two days.
After that, as they were walking home, the delicious smell of freshly baked cakes reached them. Y/n grinned at Lucien who took her arm and walked towards the stand where an old lady was selling small round cakes that were the size of Y/n's palm. They made idle conversation with her while she handed them their treats.
"You two make a good couple. Are you mates?" She asked as soon Y/n took a bite. Which was very unfortunate as she immediately choked on it. Lucien patted her back, grinning as he turned to the lady.
"No, we aren't mates. We're just friends."
"What a shame. But maybe the bond hasn't made itself known yet?"
Lucien shook his head with a sad smile. "That would've been wonderful, really." Y/n's had whipped to him, her eyes wide. Did he just say what she thought he did? Could it be that he... no. That was stupid. He had a mate that he would die for, regardless of whether she liked him back. He would never...
"But I already have a mate." He continued.
"Oh I'm so sorry then for assuming things."
"Don't be. It's not like it matters anyway. She doesn't want the bond."
"Oh mother, that's truly unfortunate. Maybe you could be with someone else? I loved someone in my youth, but he never paid me any attention. Then one day my friend advised me to forget the male. Now I'm married to my friend and I think I couldn't be any more happy."
Lucien looked thoughtful. "That's a good advice, I must say. And I'll definitely think about it." He winked at Y/n, making her blush furiously.
They continued on after that, though there was silence now compared to their earlier mindless chatter. And it was filled with tension. Y/n wrapped her arms around herself, staring into the waters of the Sidra nearby.
As they walked, her mind wandered to what Lucien had said to the woman. Could he really mean what he had said? He wasn't one to joke about such serious matters... but then again, maybe he was jesting.
Soon, they had reached her house, and she stepped up to open the door.
"You want to come in? We can have some tea..."
Lucien smiled. "I would love to if it's not a problem."
As she set about making the tea, he sat watching her every move. Which made her work extremely carefully, wondering if he was judging her. Which was absurd. Because, not only would Lucien never judge her, but also because she never would have cared for something so trivial as someone judging her. So why did she care now?
Because you lov–
She shut the thought down before it even finished.
•○🌑○•
Lucien's pov.
It had been over a month since he had seen his Y/n, and he was already craving her presence. Initially, he been able to go longer periods without meeting his friend. But as time went on, he became more and more enraptured with her and shorter and shorter became the time period between his visits.
The way she laughed on anything he said. The way her eyes would light up when she looked at him. The way he could make her blush by just looking at her. How she would get excited when taking about the newest book she was reading or when she learned something that made her happy.
He just couldn't get enough of her sometimes. All he wanted to do was stay and bask in her presence.
Of course, it wasn't possible, what with his work of going back and forth between human lands and the Night Court, as well as Day Court, where he had been spending some time getting to know his father.
It was a shock when he found out that Beron wasn't his real father, but he was adjusting. She had a big part in his acceptance. And he was grateful for it.
Now, he was going to leave his emissary duties for the Night Court, going to live in his father's court permanently. Which was why Feyre had decided to have the whole of the inner circle and him go out to eat for dinner. Lucien had suggested the cafe by the Sidra for the ordeal.
The place where Y/n currently worked.
He was smiling at his thoughts of her when he knocked on the door of the River House. Nuala opened it, greeting him with a smile before letting him enter. There was already sounds of chatter coming from the living room as he walked towards it. Everyone was here then. Great.
The quicker this was over, the faster he could spend time with Y/n.
He would leave soon, but that didn't mean he wouldn't come back to Velaris. He had important people here.
He had informed Rhys about his departure a few months ago, and had agreed to stay till they found someone who would be willing to take up the duties of Lucien. They were still searching for someone, so Lucien was still the emissary.
•○●⛦●○•
Lucien tapped his leg on the floor impatiently, his eyes constantly flitting between the tables and booths in search of his friend.
It had only been a few moments since he had arrived with the inner circle, but he simply couldn't wait to catch a glimpse of her.
While he was searching for Y/n, he failed to notice the High lord and lady's, as well as the entire inner circle's eyes on him.
He craned his head, and he finally heard that beautiful voice he'd been dying to hear from behind him.
"Good evening. May I take your order?"
He turned his head so fast he nearly gave himself whiplash, but Lucien didn't care as his eyes met those of Y/n's.
Her mouth lifted at the edges, a knowing look in her eyes as she turned away to converse with Rhysand.
His brain didn't process the words being exchanged between the two, he was so busy admiring her.
And wondering when the damn dinner will be over so he could finally talk to her and catch up.
When she left the table after taking their orders, she distcreetly brushed her hand against his bicep, pulling a smile on his face.
Just an hour or so. He reminded himself as he focused on the table in front of him, ignoring the looks of the inner circle, including Elain.
Which wasn't all that hard.
•○●⛦●○•
The time seemed to pass slower, just to torture Lucien that night.
Right when Lucien was about to loose his patience, everyone had finished dessert, and were on the verge of leaving.
Lucien stood, nodding at Cassian and Azriel in goodbye, hugging Feyre and shaking Rhys's hand. Making some excuse- unconvincing, he was sure- about having to go meet up with Vassa and Jurian, he walked away, eyeing the place Y/n had disappeared into.
He knew that she was about to leave, had probably already left, and he couldn't wait to tell her all the juicy stories he'd acquired over his recent travels, as well as the budding tensions between Vassa and Jurian.
The moment he stepped out onto the road, he heard her voice.
"So desperate to meet me fox boy?"
Lucien smirked, turning to find the owner of the voice leaning against a wall. "You wish."
Her eyebrows lifted as she pushed herself off the wall. "Sure. Didn't seem like it was just my fantasy when you were searching around like an eager puppy."
He grinned, though a flush climbed up his neck at being caught red handed. "Just wanted to see you so I could tell you about Vassa and Jurian."
Y/n grinned, throwing her arms around his neck as she buried her face in his neck. He returned the hug in kind, warming up his body a little through his magic so he could ward off the chill in the air surrounding them.
They stayed in the hug for longer than seemed appropriate, but no one was watching anyways. And neither of them cared if anyone was.
Y/n was the first to pull away, smiling shyly up at Lucien.
"You want to get some cake before we go home?" Y/n questioned, beginning towards the general direction of her home.
"I feel like we should make it ourselves." Lucien wiggled his eyebrows, throwing his arm around her shoulders as they began the trek to her home.
She shook her head slightly, becoming redder by the moment as she grinned softly at her feet.
•○🌑○•
It was solstice tonight.
It had been one not-long-enough year since he'd met Y/n.
Lucien's chest felt lighter than it had been in ages.
They had already found a new emissary who they trusted, and so today was Lucien's last day as a member of the Inner Circle.
He was here today to deliver some reports to Rhys.
The sound of utensils and laughter greeted him as soon as he entered the River house, the inner circle being as loud as ever. But as soon as he stepped foot in the dining room, everything went silent, all eyes turning to him.
He smiled at Feyre, nodding to Rhys and pointing to the papers in his hands. He placed the stack on a table nearby, before nodding again to the rulers of Night and turning away.
"Wait! Where are you going? Come have dinner with us." Lucien looked at Feyre, shaking his head.
He didn't want to stay. Not when all that was going through his head was how he would go up to Y/n's door and knock, and how she would open the door suspiciously, those eyes narrowed. But then she would realise that it was him, and she would fling the door open with squeal, tackling him into a hug, laughing. How when she pulled back, she'd realise she was in her pajamas and would self consciously brush herself down, touching her hair. How–
"Lucien?" Lucien winced, coming back to the present.
"I can't stay. I have to go meet a friend."
"Oh. Did you plan a meeting beforehand?"
"Oh no. She doesn't know I'm here. I'm going to go surprise her."
"She?" A gentle and soft voice intoned. Lucien stiffened. The voice he had wanted to hear acknowledge him ever since the bond snapped for him.
He turned to look at Elain, his brows rising as he took her in. She was standing from her seat next to the shadowsinger, her knuckles white from clenching her fork so tightly. Her brows were furrowed in anger, and she looked murderous.
"Yes..." He didn't really know how to answer the question, so he simply watched her.
Rage entered her eyes. "Is this the female you went with that night when we were out?"
Lucien blinked, wondering what was making Elain so angry. "Yes. Exactly that one."
Elain huffed out a bitter laugh. "So is she trying to steal my mate now? She did look like someone who steals males."
For a moment, no one moved. There was so much silence it was deafening.
Almost everyone was staring between Elain and Lucien, their eyes wide. Except from Amren, of course. Nothing could faze the little devil. And Nyx, who waved around a piece of carrot like a sword.
Lucien smiled slowly. "Glad to know your thoughts on my life, mate. I will let her know of your amazing thoughts about her."
Lucien turned away, walking towards the foyer, but just before he turned out of sight, he glanced back, his eyes meeting Elain's.
"She and I were only ever friends, but now that you've said it, I realise that we never were meant to be friends." Lucien smiled slightly, bowing his head. "Thank you."
And with that, he left, ready to meet with his friend.
•○🌑○•
Y/n's pov.
Her solstice had been normal. Nothing great to do. Her father had gone out drinking with his friends, her friends having been busy with their own families. Even the old hag was busy tending to and celebrating with her brother.
She was sure Lucien would also be busy with something, since he hadn't written to her to let her know of his arrival if he was coming.
That left Y/n alone.
But then suddenly, a knock had sounded on the door, and Y/n's heart had fluttered before even knowing who stood on the other side of the door.
After Lucien told her what was going on with Vassa and Jurian, he began telling her of the events that went down in the High lord's home as she got ready to take a stroll around Velaris with Lucien.
Her blood boiled when she heard of the things Elain said to Lucien, but a smile of reassurance from him was all it took for her to calm down.
They were in the main square of Velaris right now, watching the people dance around the huge fire in the centre.
It had become a tradition in the recent years for the people of the city to come together and dance the night away, laughing and drinking and mingling. It was a wholesome event, where younger people would gather around the old towards the end of the night and simply listen to their tales.
This was the first time Y/n was attending with someone else, as usually she would come here alone and sit next to the elderly, watching as younger couple her age danced around and bonded.
The glow from the fire danced in Lucien's eyes, making it look like there was fire inside those mismatched eyes. There was a relaxed grin on his face, one like she'd never seen before. He seemed so careless now, so free, it made Y/n smile too.
"You're staring." He pointed out, his voice barely audible over the cheers and the faeries singing along.
Y/n blushed, but in a sudden burst of boldness, she spoke, looking away. "It would be a crime not to."
From the periphery of her eyes, she found him gaping at her and had to suppress a triumphant smile.
"You know, I feel like the Mother took extra time making you."
He let out a surprised laugh, the sound lighting fires across Y/n's body.
"All that extra time to make me ruined by a fucking scar."
His tone was light, though Y/n could sense a hint of insecurity and sadness under the joy.
She turned to him, watching as the smile slowly vanished from his face at the look in her eyes.
"You are beautiful, Lucien, scars and all. And if I had the chance, I would show you how beautiful they are to me." She let her hand reach up toward his face, ignoring the heat entering his eyes or the way his pupils dilated as she traced the scar that ended at his jaw.
"Beautiful. So fucking beautiful."
HIs eyes fell shut as the music came to an end, and the people dancing around the fire dispersed for a moment.
"Y/n..." He whispered, his hand reaching up to hold hers against his face.
The music started up again, a soft and slower sound than before, more sensual.
This one was for people who were a couple or in a relationship, just a slow waltz to cool down before everyone again joined in a faster, more traditional dance.
"Dance with me."
The words were a shock to her system, and she nodded without even thinking.
It wasn't until the two of them had begun dancing, her arms wrapped around his broad and strong shoulders, their faces barely inches away, that she remembered that this was a waltz for couples, and she and Lucien were definitely not a couple.
She glanced up at him, his eyes already fixed on her. She opened her mouth to tell him, trying to ignore the warmth against her skin from the fire behind her, his body pressed so close to hers in the front.
"Lucien, this dance is for-"
"I know." He mumbled, his eyes smoldering. "I know." He repeated, making sure she understood.
Suddenly, his arms around her waist became more apparent, the way they rested over her lower back. The way the stray hairs that had escaped his low bun tickled her neck, the way his breath washed over her skin when he exhaled.
Y/n's mind was about to either stop working, or remind her of Lucien's touch every two minutes, and honestly, she didn't know which one she prefered.
He never broke eye contact once during the whole dance.
Soon, but not soon enough, the slow music came to an end. And the people that sat along the outer edge cheered, clapping and demanding the couples kiss. And as all the couples shared that intimate moment, Y/n's heart rate picked up, panic clawing up her throat, feeling so many eyes on her and him, wondering what Lucien would do.
She didn't have to wonder long, though.
Lucien began leaning in, making Y/n's eyes flutter closed. She swallowed, licking her lips.
Then she felt his hot breath closer to her face, his lashes brushing gently against her skin as she felt those plump, beautiful lips on the corner of hers.
She felt him smile against her skin. All the while, it was hard to breathe.
But then he pulled away, a flush on his cheeks. If it was because of the heat of the enormous fire behind her, or because he was genuinely flustered, she couldn't tell.
As the faster music started, Lucien grinned wickedly at her.
"Let's dance, my lady."
•○🌑○•
Y/n's feet were sore, but it was all so worth it.
At some point during the night, she had discarded her shoes next to a kind old male who she had known since she was a child.
All the dances after Y/n and Lucien's initial waltz had been fast paced, where everyone changed partners every few moments. It was one of the best things that had happened that night, getting to know new people and dancing and singing along to the top of their lungs.
It was all so beautiful.
She had always thought so, watching from the sidelines. But now, being one of the people she would have watched, it was a whole different experience.
The dancing was supposed to go on for atleast one more hour before the elders gathered and began telling stories. That would go on for the rest of the night.
And so, Y/n decided to get some rest, maybe somewhere on he benches near the Sidra where it would be quiet before returning to listen to the elder's tales.
Listening to loud music for hours was one way to invite a headache.
Y/n began making her way up to Lucien, who stood on the opposite side of the huge fire, but then she paused, simply admiring him.
He had discarded his embroidered overcoat next to where Y/n had placed her shoes, now only in a simple, thin white shirt that clung to his sweaty frame, the sleeves rolled up to his elbows.
He laughed as he held the hands of a little girl, giving her instructions on how to move. The little girl's tongue poked out of her lips as she concentrated, and Lucien was just as concentrated as her.
Once the current music came to an end, the girl grinned up at Lucien, and he ruffled her hair in return before she ran away, maybe to her friends.
Y/n finally walked up to Lucien, smiling tiredly at him.
"Hello, you."
He smiled back. "Good evening, my lady."
Y/n rolled her eyes at the title. "Shut up."
"Can I not even greet you now?"
"Yeah yeah whatever. I'm going to go sit at a bench, rest a little then return. You coming?"
He nodded, walking over to where his coat lay on the ground. He picked it up along with her shoes then returned.
When she tried to take her shoes from him, he waved her away.
The two of them walked in silence, heading towards the quiet river. Once there, they walked onto the bank and settled down where the place was relatively drier than all other places. Y/n dipped her feet in the cold water, releasing a relieved sigh at the soothing sensation.
Lucien pulled out two packets from the pocket of his coat, tearing open the wrapper and handing one to Y/n. She looked at him, confused.
He simply opened his pack, and then bit into the cake.
"Why do you have these with you?" She questioned, though she began nibbling on the little treat.
He shrugged. "Jurian found these at a bakery in mortal lands a few days ago. I thought you might like it."
She smiled, staring into the water as she slowly chewed.
"The inner circle were in the crowd tonight."
Y/n whipped her head to look at Lucien, but he didn't even seem bothered or interested in talking about the inner circle. He said it so casually, like he was telling her it was night and not day.
After a moment, Y/n spoke. "Was Elain there?"
He nodded, taking a bite of the cake. He took his time chewing before he gave her a response.
"I saw them after the fourth or fifth song. Apparently, they'd been watching since the first song."
Y/n gaped at him.
He glanced at her. "What?"
"Why are you so nonchalant about this?! Your mate saw you dancing with me on a song meant for people involved romantically!"
He blinked, then raised a brow. "And?"
"That might ruin any chances you had with her!"
He shrugged again. "There was never any chance anyway."
"Lucien! You-"
"Look Y/n. It's been long since the bond made itself known. It's been long enough that if she wanted to accept the bond, she would have. And long enough that if she didn't want the bond, she would have rejected it."
"Yes I know but you love her-"
"Let me speak, love. Let me get this off my chest. I never loved her. She didn't give me the chance to. The pull I felt towards her was simply the bond clouding my judgement. The desperation with which I seeked to gain her attention was me simply yearning for happiness. If I had not been so lonely and upset all the time, maybe I wouldn't even have acknowledged the bond if she ignored it too.
"And maybe I am a bastard for that, but I don't know what had gotten over me for the past year or so. I had lost almost all of myself, until you came along.
"You-" Lucien looked at Y/n, his eyes bright "-you made me realise that I did not need another person to make me happy, and that I didn't have to stop being myself for someone to love me. And i will be eternally grateful to you for it."
Y/n shook her head, blinking away the tears that threatened to fall. "Lucien, you deserve to find love. You deserve to have a happy life."
"And I know that now. All because of you."
"But I did nothing." She sniffed, her cake forgotten in her hand.
"You didn't have to. Just simply being my friend and showing me kindness made a significant difference in how I saw myself."
"But what about Elain? What about the bond?"
He smiled. "She can be with anyone she wants now. She wanted to have control over some aspects of her life after having been forced to turn, and honestly, I don't blame her. I would have wanted to do the same if my life had been anything like her."
"And what about you?"
Y/n felt like she knew the answer, but she still wanted to know.
"I do not need a bond to be with someone I love, you know."
"And who is it that you love?"
His smile turned knowing. "You know the answer, don't you?"
"Tell me still. After all, you do love hearing yourself speak."
This was a serious moment, but Y/n felt like if she didn't try to lighten the air by joking, this would become real. And she didn't know if she could handle that.
"I love you, Y/n."
She closed her eyes, telling herself this was not real, that she would wake up soon, and realise this had been a dream. Just like all the times before she had had the dream of being with Lucien and then waking up, all alone in her bed and staring at the ceiling.
But when silence settled around her, him staring at her expectantly, she realised this was no dream.
That someone like Lucien really was in love with someone like her.
She closed her eyes, a tear slipping out of the corner of her eyes. "You don't mean that."
She felt his thumb brushing away the tear a moment before she felt his lips on her cheek. "I do. I am in love with you, my lady. I would do anything to show you how much I love you. To prove to you that I really do."
Her eyes fluttered open, staring into his eyes as he rested his forehead against hers. "Why?"
He chuckled. "What do you mean why? There is not need of a reason for me to love you. I simply love you because you exist."
After a moment, she whispered what she had been dying to scream. "I love you, Lucien. I love you so much."
His smile widened, and he began closing the distance between them. "Then let me be yours."
Just before their lips met, she mumbled. "Be mine."
And her body ignited.
•○●⛦●○•
Her joints were creaking, but the old hag watched, and waited.
She had this primal need to have the little girl she'd watched grow up in front of her eyes find happiness, and she would threaten even the mother if the need arose to make Y/n happy.
But she didn't have to do that, because as she watched, the fire head male leaned in and pressed a kiss to Y/n's lips, and the old hag smiled, giddy with happiness and excitement.
And then she turned away, meaning to hobble back to the solstice celebration in the main square and leave the two younglings to enjoy the night together.
But then she paused, staring at the young female that stared at Y/n and the fire boy she'd fallen in love with.
Slowly, the old hag's brain remembered that this female with soft features and silky hair was the high lady's sister. And in turn, Lucien's mate.
Damn the mother. The old hag cursed, shaking her head.
"Leave them be." The hag ordered the girl in front of her, who turned to her with wide eyes. "They both deserve happiness. Don't you dare think about getting in the way."
The girl in the lilac dress nodded, her eyes becoming watery, but the hag had already begun walking away.
And after a final glance at the giggling couple on the riverbank, the girl turned away, jealousy and relief warring in her chest.
•○●⛦●○•
When Lucien pulled away, his hand still resting on her cheek, she couldn't stop a giggle from escaping. His lips quirked, a little swollen.
"Something funny?"
She shook her head, her cheeks warm as she turned back to the water. "Should we do a toast, my lord?"
He laughed at that, shifting closer to her as he put an arm around her shoulders. "And what will we toast with? We don't have wine or anything."
"We have these cakes." She pointed out.
He lifted his cake into the air. "Alright then. To love!"
Y/n wrinkled her nose. "And cakes!" She said as she raised her hand, and Lucien laughed.
He laughed, and laughed, and laughed.
Carefree and happy.
And Y/n simply watched, admiring.
Loving.

(Falls down metaphorical stairs)
HELLO my dearly beloveds! I know its been a FAT while since I've thrown an ask at this blog (its ok tho, because unlike my dad, I came back /JOKE) but I just cant get the utter brainrot from date 4 out of my head and I wanted to leave a couple of words (as if I wasnt yapping enough in the server)
(Spoilers for date 4, of course, Im really sorry-)
But a couple of things I wanted to point out furthermore/appreciate is the fact that:
•While Tenebris could've absolutely just used a glamor and have people's approval more that way, he doesnt- He's just his authentic self and is unapologetic about it and I think thats really neat of him (It doesnt make me any less terrified to have him end my run though)
•I still have beef w that damn squirrel and I will die on this hill, Cake was either bribed or wanted to lead us to our certain doom, but thats the hill Im dying on until I get told/proven otherwise, then I'll take my L
•The knife throwing scene with Tenebris is very neat! Its nice that he's letting us in on his hobby regardless of wether or not we do/dont have experience knife throwing!
•KEITH PLEASE FALL ASLEEP ON MY LAP PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLE- (dragged away)
•That forest fae design is very well done! Fighting for my life to not run because I know that thing will catch me, but it was a very spooky design
•KEITH is still my dearly beloved, but I think Tenebris deserves the cat title more- C'mon, he's literally out here stealing from neighbours and growling at them /silly
•On the topic of Keith, he was very polite and sweet in his own date/poly date, but if it werent for Tenebris, I wouldve absolutely socked him in Ten's date when he started talking about the privilege of dating MC /exaggerating, of course
•I was a greedy bastard and absolutely chose to kiss them both on the mouth in the poly date and dont regret it, I think its cool that this is one of the only vns I know that actually includes poly tbh
And thats all for right now! Until next time, my loves-
Hehe, yes, Tenebris doesn't wanna bother with glamors for stuff like that. Besides, he's survived most of his life without them, up until he learned how to do it so why start now.
I would say Keith can have the cat title because he's calmer than Tenebris. But truthfully, they're both kind of dog coded.
He acted like that during Tenebris' date because he was salty, lmao. You didn't pick him and now Tenebris is just moping around instead of enjoying your company like he could've.
Good! They both wanted their kisses. Though you'll be hearing from Keith during the next date about how you gave Tenebris two.

Homestuck Mythical Creature au / Cryptid Au
Very tempted to make an ask blop :p need to see if anyones inch rested
thought processes under the cut (bc some choices are wild)
Johns a pooka, an irish fae trickster who shapeshifts into animals. his favorite form is the bunny. john and jane are both fae, so their pranks range from harmless to mentally scaring to life altering. absolute chaos grimlins. dirk is also an irish myth, so he knows them well and is often trying to get them to not ruin the local population of humans. so they do pranks on him insted. john loves to steal dirks head and hide it places.
rose speaks to the eldritch horrors and is slowly becoming one herself. she wants to become a litch.
Dave is a harpy! a very chill one who doesn't tend to sing with his full chest, so people dont start crashing into his doorstep. dave dies in some magic accident that caused davesprite to rise up from the ashes. but dave harpy is ALSO fine no ones really sure how. may have been roses doing.
Jade is a werewolf obv. but shes also a witch and has formed a coven with rose and roxy.
Jane is ur avrage fae faerie/sprite. her favorite fae rule to get people to break is "dont eat their food."
Roxy is both a cat who is also a wizard i need not elaborate
Dirk is a headless horseman. not to be confused with THE headless horse man. thats another dullhan with a well paying halloween gig. dirk is often subject to losing his head, so he made a magic pumpkin to pilot the body when this happens. he does have a very large and scary but beautiful horse.
Jake is the bigfoot. and one of the most well hunted (and well travled) cryptids. thus, his friends often make jokes of not ever seeing him except in blurry images. its not his fault hes very large and loves to travel! and is also not very photogenic...
Aradia is a monthra!!! however she made a deal with a devil and became a ghost... not sure WHY yet or why it kills her. but it does. its all in her plan or smth, but that doesnt stop sollux from being very upset that hes the one that has to take and keep her soul. she is reserected later by the coven, still soulless but it doesnt matter bc her soul is in good hands and thus she still feels it. shes much happier now.
Tavros is a minotar self explanatory he is a small minotar, tho. a mini minotar if u will.
Sollux is ur run of the mill soul for potato chip demon. an excuse to give him twin tails and horns. him an kitkat gave me the most trouble! but then i went with a solkat devil angel motifi and im kinda attached t9 it now. even if its sorta a cop out. i simply couldnt find twin creatures that werent gods or children of gods. nor any crab creatures...
Karkat is an angel. he WAS human notably he was human for awhile even good friends with kanaya before he died. he never found love but helped so many with theres that he became an angel that was a lot like cupid. thus he was a small angel incharge of match making and also likened to a baby and hes very much NOT happy about this. it pisses him off, solluxs often gives him a hard time. about it. (extra angst is that kitkats also really fucked up about never knowing what love felt like but having to give it to others. and he has it in his head that that means he never will know, bc no ones matchmaking the matchmaker. but theres a song he hears everyonece anwhile by a stray harpy that makes him feel a lot lighter.)
Nepeta is my go to cat creature a nekomata. a two tailed cat yokai.
Kanaya is a vampire. obviously.
Terezi is a dragon! still blind! still licks. but can now transform and has wings, very scary. shes basiclly just her lusus lmao.
Vriska is a spider lady. i have arachne here bc its similar, but shes not arachne the myth proper. shes just a spider with the top part of a woman at the head. A Jorogumo a spider lady yokai and is basically actually what im picturing.
Equius is a centar and fuck if i ever have to draw him....
Gamzee is a clowwwn, just a clown, just a silly lil guy. What do you MEAN clowns arnt mythical creatures??? what do u mean u saw him under ur bed when you were a child? u must be mistaken. as a nod to ICPs boogieman. when gamzee is not high as a kite and is just a clown, he is one of the most terrifying and unkillable creatures known to children kind.
Eridan is a selkie. basiclly a mermaid but part seal. personally, I'd like to make him part seahorse. but not in the hippocampus way. i chose this bc he can shapeshift, thus he pretends to be a high elf sorcerer, yes he does get dunked on about this.
And finally, Feferi is a siren! who happens to be able to become very VERY **VERY** BIG. she doesnt lure people to drown them but she DOES love to keep live captives in cages :)

WOAHHHHHHH
I just saw your writing
YOU'RE SO COOL!!
YOUR WRITING IS SO COOL!!
SO I'M REQUESTING!
Could u also do accidental courtship for the Diasomnia boys too?
PLSPLSPLSPLSPLS
Especially Lilia, pls!
yes of course :)
Accidental Courtship PT2
part 1 was about the beast-men and merfolk
this part will be about the Fae and Diasomnia dorm
this is part 1
this took so long to type becuase im not able to use my pointer finger, i tore my nail in half and have to wear a bandaid that limits the mobility of my finger.
sorry this took so long, and that its been a long time since i published anything, ive been pretty busy
ALSO Im aware that Silver and Sebek aren't Fae, BUT im just having fun, and i feel like because they are always around fae they would pick up on the habits and culture
so this part will contain......
Malleus, Lilia, Sebek, i cant write silver im sorry :(
so merfolk were stones
beast men was licking/grooming
so the Fae and Diasomnia boys can be... biting? idk like vampires lol.
Malleus:
your gorgeous, handsome, hoy, pretty, socially awkward boyfriend was a Fae, when you first started dating he asked you how much you knew about the Fae, you told him the stories and myths, about how the Fae are mischievous, and lots of times evil, stealing names and lives, he was shocked, and he told you about real Fae culture, he was mostly telling you about holidays, celebrations, and way of life, he conveniently forgot to mention the fact that biting (a common form of cute aggression and a love language) was a proposal of marriage in Fae tradition.
You burst into your boyfriends room, slamming the door shut behind you, he was sitting a dark green fancy chair reading, he looked up at you and smiled, he set his book down and patted his lap, you sprinted over, jumping and launching yourself at him, the energy was unexpected but he was able to catch you easily, you sat on his lap and hugged him, your face nuzzled into his neck
"are you ok my love? you seem... ecstatic"
you told him about your day and how you saw the cutest cat, and how you wanted to adopt it
"i shall get you a cat if you wish" he responded, a look of determination dawned his features
you laughed at his response, you called him cute before biting on his neck gentlely
he stopped breathing for a moment, looking at you in shock "is that all i had to do? offer to get you a cat? we've been together for a a little less than a year, are you sure? im exited, i truly am, but i feel it is to early on for us to marry"
you looked up at him confussed and asked what he was talking about
"r-remember? when i told you about our fae traditions? biting is a proposal?- oh i didnt tell you that part?" he chuckles softly, he brushes your hair back and kisses your forehead softly "sorry you dear, i got the wrong idea about your intentions, but... even so, don't be suprised if i bite you back on day"
Sebek:
you were in the ramshackle dorm, reading a book you had borrowed from the library, you didn't realize at the time but it was due yesterday, meaning you had an overdue library book, and your boyfriend, for some reason, liked to memorize the due date of your books, homework, assignments, etc. so he could make sure you got everything done on time.
there was a firm knock on the door, you called for them to enter and Sebek walked in, he looked at the book in your hands before frowning at you
"wasn't that book due yesterday" he asked, crossing his arms stepping closer to you
"was it?" you responded checking the stamp at the front "hm well damn, it was" you laughed slighly at your mistake
Sebek however, didnt find this funny, he snatched your book away turning around "im returning this"
"im not done reading it though" you jumped onto his back and reached for the book, he stumbled a bit before regaining his balance, he extanded his arm, furthering the book from your grasp, you bit down on his shoulder.
he spun around, forget you were on his back and not on the ground, causing you to almost get flung off, you instintuly bit diown harder, drawing a slight whimper from Sebek "y-y/n, i-i cant, we are so young, a-and you havent met my family, andiloveyoubutimnotreadyformarriage (i love you but im not ready for marriage)
you let go of him, looking at him confused "tf you mean marriage? are you high?"
"y-you bite me! for the Fae's thats a proposal"
"...oh"
"..."
"you aren't a Fae though?"
"oh.... right"
"DID YOU FORGET?" you burst out laughing
Lilia:
he assumed you didn't know Fae customs, your a human from another world, however, when he felt you teeth scrape against his neck he forgot all of that, he was on one knee in a fucking instant
"you want to marry me hmm? you young people and your forwardness" he seemed calm on the outside, but on the inside he was melting, he loved you more than words could ever describe,. when he saw you confused expression his heart sank, his smirk wavered for a moment before returning, weaker than before,
"ah I suppose you dont know, for Fae, you just asked me to marry you" he watched as your face heated up, flushing with red, he patted your head as you apologized for the mix up. he grabbed your hand, pulling you closer to him and placing his lips on your neck, he kissed you softly, before opening his mouth and pressing his small, but sharp fangs against your skin, he bit down, not hard enough to draw blood but enough to make you flinch
"wether you say yes or not is up to you, but the offer is always there" before you could say anything he was gone
sorry that lilias was short, im not the best at writing him...
hope you enjoyed!
requests are open!

im gonna make a big post about fae here, since ive realised ive been posting about our dnd adventure but ive never actually elaborated on fae as a character on tumblr lmao
so this will go into his backstory history a bit as well as some aspects of his personality that tie into it :33
DISCLAIMER BTW: this campaign is massively homebrew, we're only really using dnd's mechanics and not its lore. the entire world, society, etc in this campaign is original writing ✌️
most basic of basic information: Faenir is a wood elf moon druid, and currently "employed" as a navigator on Captain Bluefeather's pirate crew. hes been a pirate for 15 years and has sailed under a couple different captains over that time. hes exceptionally good at his job and has been sought out by very prolific captains (in the very first session, he was actually offered a job by THE pirate king lollll)
this is a relatively recent venture however, as hes actually like 125 years old currently. the other 110 years prior were Very different, so im gonna start from the ~beginning~ and get into backstory
fae was born (as a twin) on the island-continent of Lor, which is the elven homeland. most elves (except mermaids, which are sea-elves) live there. elves dont have royalty however, their governments are set up as a system of councils (relevant in a second)
the wood elven domain is called merethil, and within it grows a large world-tree, which the wood elves utilise as a capital city
faenir and his twin brother taldrys were born to the very prestigious Thalasi family, to an archdruid mother (she is one of the wood elven council leaders) and a noble father. at birth, fae was believed to have been personally blessed by the moon goddess selune (stealing her name from actual dnd). taldrys was not similarly blessed
growing up, taldrys was afforded a lot of freedoms, and was basically allowed to do with his life what he desired. the same was not true for fae though, due to how everyone around him regarded his "blessing"
basically since infancy, fae had a lot of high expectations thrust on him, and was essentially pedestalized, which ended up doing a lot of mental harm. he was given extremely rigorous and strict training throughout his childhood, in preparation for the role he would take as an adult
it was VERY important to wood elf society in general that fae specifically would be the person to take on the role of High Priestess of the Moon on the government council (now is probably a good time to mention that fae was born female-assigned and presented as a woman up until leaving Lor)
unfortunately, things just continued to get worse in this specific time period. he DID meet someone that would be a close friend for many decades up until his departure (its illandria, ive posted about her before :3), but generally he had a pretty bad time, which culminated in something that could possibly be described as an "episode"
the constant pedestalization, expectations, and responsibilities of being the big important High Priestess mentally wore fae down over the course of MANY years. this perception of him severely damaged his own sense of self and also warped his perception of what the goddess actually expected of him. in addition to ALL this bullshit, fae's family also wanted him to be in an arranged political marriage with a high elf noble (whom fae had never met)
its reasonable to say that fae eventually had some kind of mental break, and decided to secretly leave Lor without telling anyone. its at this point he ended up joining with a pirate crew, and started presenting as a man. he has NOT been back to Lor since, and has actually avoided talking about his past entirely. people back on Lor have also circulated rumours as to their priestess' disappearance
since leaving, fae's relationship with his goddess has been put into a somewhat nebulous position. he never wanted to disappoint her, he still values her presence and importance, but he feels like he HAS disappointed her and is unsure on how to navigate the situation
he's thought about talking to selune about his situation, but he hasnt because hes too afraid she will tell him that everything in his life is a mistake and he should just go back home
the problem is that hes making this assumption based on his treatment from other elves, not exactly on the goddess' actual behaviour. everyone AROUND fae made his status the Biggest Deal Ever™️, which sorta fucked up his brain and his perception of selune herself. now hes too afraid to address that with her directly, due to the effect it all had on him.
fae SEEMS very capable and hyper-competent in nearly everything he does, but its partially over compensation for the fact that HE feels like hes "failed" something by just being Himself and not being what everyone else expected him to be (or what he Thinks the goddess expected him to be)
this also ties directly into a concept that fae has a massive complex over being "controlled". due to his upbringing, fae always felt as though people expected him to be a certain way, and they tried to push him into being an idealised version of himself that ultimately didnt exist. he felt very much like he wasnt allowed to be himself, and that his "actual self" was something unacceptable, hence mental-breakdown-leaving etc
hes been generally much happier since leaving and getting to control his own life, but there are still numerous nagging reminders and doubts lingering that he tries very hard to ignore lmao
I also forgot to mention some of his family stuff. so fae's brother taldrys, unblessed, was afforded way more freedom in life than fae, which bred some resentment between them. fae was very jealous of his brother's treatment growing up, feeling like he wasnt really "allowed" his own individuality as tal was. taldrys, conversely, was also jealous of fae bc he perceived fae's treatment as "favouritism". the two of them were still pretty close growing up, but the jealousy was in the background regardless
fae's mother ithana, as mentioned previously, was ALSO on the wood elf council with fae. she had a big hand in fae feeling as bad as he did. ithana would never openly admit it, but she secretly acknowledges (after all these years) that she had played a part in fae's disappearance. deep down, she knows he left and exactly why, but wouldnt dare talk about it with anyone. she secretly feels guilty and wishes he would come back someday. fae himself feels a lot of resentment towards his mom because of how she was when he was growing up, and hasnt contacted her since leaving
i realise his entire backstory is a very obvious trans metaphor but whatever lol. i rly like how i have this character set up
#hope u enjoy reading about my little Guy hes my Favourite Guy#moths pirate dnd tag#faenir#dnd#dnd character

OMG YESSSS
I really loved the fic thank you!
9/10(not 10 bc I never give 10 fr)
Would it be trouble to ask for part 2? Maybe a fae makes her imune to glamors to get back at Cardan or his bro
If not then please let me know and Im sorry!
Have a nice day!

Heya! Glad you like it and of course I'll get to writing! Sorry for the delay. Hopefully my quality doesn't suffer.
It had been months. Months that blurred into a whirlwind of whippings and beatings with a belt - and not just for him. [Reader] was getting her fair share too. Particularly from Nicasia, who didn’t appreciate “The Little Thief” stealing from their kingdom. Cardan could only watch. And take it. Growing madder every day. And he didn’t even know. He didn’t know [Reader] was very much aware beneath all the spells. She knew exactly what was happening around her - and to her. And with every time she was forced to grip that belt or whip, a burning hatred grew inside her. She would make Balekin pay.
Cardan knelt on the study floor again, dark trails of blood dripping down his back and pooling onto the luxurious carpet, the coldness of the stone beneath it biting into his knees. [Reader] stood above him, holding the bloody belt. Her eyes were vacant, that dopey smile plastered on her face like a cruel joke. He felt a hand grip his hair and yank him up. “So, brother dearest… where did you put it?” “I told you. I don’t have it.” “And you think I believe that? You clung to that ‘crown’ like it was sacred -” “It’s just seaglass. It’s not like the Undersea needs it -” This time, the slap came from Balekin himself. Cardan bit his tongue, blood mixing with spit as it slid down his chin. “Pathetic, as usual. Clean up and get out. One more hit and you might crumple, and I refuse to ruin the carpet.” With that, Balekin turned and dragged [Reader] out behind him. She followed, silent - but seething. And Cardan? He did as he was told. The beatings didn’t faze him much anymore. But when they came from her… they stung a hundred times more.
[Reader] sat in the cell that had become her home ever since they arrived. Cardan sometimes snuck down there when he had the strength. He would just stare at her. He never spoke - and she couldn’t. But the look he gave her said everything. There was more emotion in it than she had ever seen in him - or anyone. She could feel him screaming inside, begging. Whether it was for her to protect him or because he wanted to protect her was still a mystery. But neither sounded like a bad option. She had caused so much of his blood to spill. When this ended, she would hold him for days just to make up for it. She still wasn’t sure if it was the glamour making her feel this way… or if it was her own love, blooming. For the vulnerable young man she had seen when she first made the glass crown, thinking it just a memento. Something sweet to take with her once they both returned to their lives. But there was no going back now. She was too deep in jellyfish-infested waters. And she didn’t plan to swim out. She would kill the jellyfish.
With every day, she gained a little more control. She would hurt Balekin soon enough. Her wins were small, almost imperceptible, but each chipped away at the glamour's grip. Once, when ordered to hit, she managed to pause. Just for a few seconds. But it was pure, burning agony. Her muscles screamed at her to obey. Still, she resisted. It was a win. She prayed it gave Cardan even just a little more time to prepare, to brace. The next win came slowly. Balekin gave her a simple command: “Bring wine.” Nothing harmful. But perfect for training. So she told herself - I didn’t hear that. It might’ve only been a minute. But through the pain and pride, it felt like a hundred years.
She stood near the table. Balekin sat drinking, oblivious to the fury simmering behind her eyes. Cardan lounged nearby, dressed in his usual flamboyant fashion, drinking even more than his brother. After the incident, he hadn’t so much as glanced at Nicasia. But now? His hands were on other nobles, his lips at their ears. It made [Reader]'s blood boil. And his too. Both could’ve sworn they felt tears sting their eyes. Why is he touching them so eagerly…? He couldn’t get enough of flirting with me… touching me… Soon. Just a little more time… “No… no, no… not even other mortals are as warm as her… not so soft… just a few more sips, maybe then it’ll blur…” Reader] wished she could hear his thoughts. But her own spiraled - until Balekin stood. “Clean up.” He vanished into the crowd. She reached for the platter like always… Until she realized - she could feel her hands. She controlled them. A split-second decision. Maybe even smaller. She tore the iron button from her tattered sleeve and dropped it into his wine. She was almost out the kitchen door when a strong hand caught her shoulder. An unfamiliar voice spoke: “Interesting plan you have for my brother…”
Soon, she was in the hall with yet another faerie prince. “I’m Dain,” he said smoothly. “What should I call you, mortal?” She was about to answer instinctively… then remembered. Other mortals guarded their names. “…Nothing.” “Oh?” he smiled. “Certainly you have a na-” “Nothing.” A strange smile spread across his face. Beautiful, yes - but deeply unsettling. Not like Balekin. This one was colder. Calculated. “Well then, Nothing… how did you break free of glamour? And what were you planning for my brother?” “I don’t think I broke free,” she admitted. “I still feel him. I still feel pain when I resist. But… my hands… they went numb to it.” “Fascinating,” he murmured. “I’ve never seen that before. And your plan?” She hesitated. Saying it aloud could cost her everything. “I applaud the use of iron,” he said, as if reading her thoughts. “But it would take more to do actual damage.” Her eyes widened. “Yes, I’m not my brother’s biggest fan,” he continued. “And if you do something for me… I might grant you something in return.” “…What exactly?” “I can give you more power over the glamour. Your will has brought you halfway already. Bring my brother down - and I’ll finish the job.” “…And what can I ask for in return?” “I could give you the power to enrapture anyone who looks at you. I could mark your forehead, and all who saw it would fall in love. I could grant you a blade that cuts through starlight.” “…Give me a position near Cardan.” “Oh? Are you sure?” “Give me a way to help him.” Dain’s smile widened, his pearl-white teeth gleaming through the gold of his hair and the storm of his eyes. “Nothing, daughter of sand… from this day forward, no Faerie glamour shall cloud your mind. No enchantment shall command your body. And you shall serve in my Court of Shadows.”
That night, when they returned to the Hollow Hall, [Reader] wasn’t summoned to beat Cardan. She was sent back to her cell. But her thoughts were elsewhere. On the young man lying half on the bed, half on the floor, face streaked with dried nevermore. He didn’t realize it was her at first. Not until she gently moved him onto the bed and reached to loosen his collar. Cardan’s hand shot out, grabbing hers. Pulling her closer. “…I’m sorry,” he whispered, trembling. “I can’t be sorry enough. For everything. For selfishly needing you. I’m sorry -” “Don’t worry, my prince. We’ll be out of this mess soon…” Even drunk, his heart skipped a beat. He grabbed her face, staring into those aware, [Y/E/C] eyes. “…How -?” “Does it matter?” The next thing she knew, she was lying beside him, held tightly like a dream he didn’t dare let go of. “Please stay like this… please…” “I-I can’t do much… but I’ll do anything I can for you. I-I’m no prince… but for the love of everything good, don’t let this be a dream… waking up will surely kill me… Please, you have to be mine - mine to protect and love -” “All I ask in return,” she whispered, “is that you be mine, Cardan. Mine to protect… and love.”
Alcohol lulled him to sleep, but not before they managed to promise their love to each other at least a hundred times.

Rhysta Au continued- just thoughts and vibes
-To keep feyre safe UtM, Nesta made a deal with Rhysand. She would live with him in the night court for the rest of her life. a steep deal but Nesta saw it as the way she could repay Feyre... He takes her back to Velaris and introduced her to the IC. Cue the chaos, Nesta trying to stop Rhysand from stealing Feyre and helping her sister find ways to break the bond in the library. where she meets our girl Gywn (don't worry she still meets emerie, we have to have THE trio)
-Ballroom scene or just party scene where Nesta looks beautiful (per usual) and Rhysand is fighting to keep his cool. He can't let Nesta know he's attracted to her cause she will use that against him
-elain and Nesta still get turned to fae against their will by hybern, who also ends up breaking the fey/sand mate bond (feylin duo playing double agents i have plans for them) and Rhysand is incapacitated for a while and never realizes there's a new bond
-Nesta realized almost immediately that something was different, she spoke to Feyre and learned it was definitely a mating bond. She ofc won't tell rhysand, this is the ace up her sleeve now. She really has one over on him now.
-Nesta does her best to keep the bond hidden while rhysand trains her as he is the only one with enough understanding of such power to help her with her new fae abilities. She doesn't train to become a typical warrior, her weapon is her sharp tongue and maybe her death powers if she's feeling impatient
-Rhysand realized the bond deep into an argument, about what he suddenly couldn't remember as he stared into nestas silver eyes and knew that was his mate. He is simultaneously pissed she kept it from him and impressed, and also maybe a little turned on.
-Before Nesta was turned fae, their arguments would scare anyone. but after Shes turned, their fights could very well level mountains, both are too stubborn and prideful. The rest of the IC always try to dispel any fights before they get too bad, they like having velaris.
-they are that duo though; they do wear matching outfits to high lord meetings after they accept the bond. which may take a few centuries, Rhysand has to acclimate to having someone truly rival his power. and in this au he has an actual sense of style
-Feylin dont get married right away, it probably takes a few years but Rhysta do show up together. I would like to be a guest at that wedding, I bet the chaos, drama, and music were amazing.
Im busy working on my og acotar fic but I am enjoying thinking up things for this au :3 i may write a few one-shots in between chapters for my fic to switch it up. i have ideas for feylin in this au too so maybe i need to name it something other than just Rhysta au. Arsons better acomaf au? perhaps.
#rhysand#nesta archeron#rhysand x nesta#rhysta#i just like to think#and i love a couple where they cant stand each other#i have a few more darker ideas just because this is an au soo maybe ill post those soon#and remember everyone this in an AU- ALTERNATE UNIVERSE- none of this would ever happen in canon im just having fun#also Nesta and Feyre talking and repairing their relationship?#and in this au rhysand is actually morally gray as nesta does not justify his every actions. LET RHYSAND BE EVIL‼️

Here's just a lil snippet of a Cod Au fanfic I'm writing :)
Its an Au where Bell is a human general and Adler is the king of the fae.
At some point in battle, the screaming gets annoying; the constant nonstop cries of pain and death rattle a person's ears so much that you'd wish you couldn’t hear anymore, but what was even worse was the eerie silence that fills your ears after a battle.
No screaming, no gasps of pain or struggle, just quiet, dreadful silence.
But there were two on the battlefield that were still alive, for now.
A young unknown soldier and a general whose name and sneer of cold command brought forth respect from allies and fear from enemies. Both now lay dying, leaning against an oak tree that knew more years than the both of them combined.
But a fae scouting group approached.
And the fates of the two were uncertain; the soldier would die whilst the general would live with the weight of all the lives lost dragging down on his shoulders.
the shuddering breaths that Bell takes as he looks down at his bleeding side, wincing softly in pain, cursing himself mentally, ‘fucking idiot, of course they had reinforcements, stupid stupid.’ The feathered ends of arrows protrude from his shoulder blades, and his coarse hand presses down on a stab wound that a lucky fae managed to score on him before he took their head off with a cleave of his longsword that was now discarded, lying haphazardly at his non-injured side.
The young boy, a man barely over 20 human years old, had several arrows protruding from his body. A human pincushion. Bell could almost hear the grating laugh of whatever damned magical being found them.
Elf, fae, dragonborn, and any other fucking magic-made arsehole would kill them on the spot, especially after seeing Bell’s gold and green uniform.
“General, it has been my honour…” The shuddering gasps from the bleeding boy next to him broke Bell away from his thoughts; the unlucky man had caught far too many arrows to survive, and it didn’t help that a fae spear had run through his shoulder, but Bell had to be strong even if it just gave the soldier comfort before the boy passed.
“Don't say that, soldier. You’ll live to fight another day. Our king needs soldiers like you.”
The boy had taken several arrows meant for Bell. The general hated when people threw themselves in front of danger for him. He had seen many battles and had won more than he had lost.
Ok soo just a little background on what this universe is like.
there is a magic system where every being is born from magic except for humans who were made from a disgraced god ( Anderim, Pronounced an-der-im) humans enhance their magic by using runes and other alchemy that take or steal the natural magic in other beings.
Not many humans have runes tattooed on them because the use of magic usually makes a normal person go insane because of the power and runes are usually used to draw magic from living animals or other species, humans stealing magic is usually foraging from the forests or dead animals but more powerful magic is mostly taken from living animals or other magical species.
Colors are VERY important metallic colors are used to show rank Black is regular soldier, bronze is lieutenants, silver is commanders and captains and finally gold is generals in the human army but for other species gold is used to show wealth and royalty. but to the humans gold is used to show that the person has earned their position.
Other colors are used to signal kingdoms and domains the humans are red and green, fae are gold and blue and so on with no other species not using some kind of metallic or rare crystal color in their banner, the humans are the only species to only use 'plain' colors.
i have so much more for this fic just AGUHGHHHH

I say this as a compliment to your writing:
EATD Remus Io and Durant are the relationship with the worst communication I've EVER seen in all your body of work and a good percentage of all the other fanfiction I've ever read. good LORD.
I want to shake these three idiot fae like maracas and tell them to TALK to each other. TEN YEARS of the nymphs being stressed out by being stuck inside before someone catches a clue? a whole DECADE?? and that's not even getting into the rest of it you've mentioned in the past
nods nods its true its true. my friend. it took durant 50 years to admit he loved remus. and another 10 to say it out loud. Remus would let Adder do anything to him and not in the fun way. and then they steal Io before any of ly backstory spine-growing can happen, ie lu will literally bury laself in the ground to hide from expressing an opinion that contradicts Who Is In Charge which ly brain has very firmly designated Adder. Because all three of them are, at this point, hardline belivers in the fae caste system while members of an inter-caste relationship.
theyre extremely messy and im having so much fun fleshing them out. just three bi disasters coming together to form an even worse and bigger disaster and theyre in love. moron4moron4moron

the librarians "and the christmas thief" (s4e3) watch through:
patron saint of thieves (ie st nick... ie santa), leverage deja vu!
this has some kath & kim vibes - not sure if that’s intentional from the US writers but i hope it is. you might know kath & kim from this meme:
"did you just say - mum?" maybe they’re already working out what he means, but surely for like one second cassandra was thinking "what did you just call me?!?"
okay woah too many hilarious things just happened at once -
this exchange (plus them all running around the table lmaooo):
ezekiel: "they're my family, i'll sort it out, please!" cassandra: "i thought WE were your family!" ezekiel: "you’re a different sort of family. i like you guys!"
^ but re: the above, i love the fact cassandra's offended that he has another family... you know, the family he grew up with. which does make sense from her pov because both cassie & jacob very much have difficult relationships with their own relatives & the library is like their "main" family. she seems to have assumed it was the same way for ezekiel (after all, he's clearly not talked much about his mum & sisters). so she feels confused & a little betrayed even though all he's done is like. have a mother. lol. very much not his fault but i get why she's a bit upset
also love cassandra's incredibly convincing lie to eve, "i found it. the bottle opener. was in the bottle opener drawer. with the other bottle openers".
baird saying "bye, kids" LMAOOO.
ezekiel kissing cassandra on the lips (to which she looks grossed out lol) & about to do the same to jacob before getting pushed away
-AND lastly, ezekiel saying his mum lives just outside sydney & cassandra goes "that explains the accent". did you think he was just talking like that for fun
CASSIES HAIR
jacob knowing about thankstaking day for some reason??
cassandra giving ezekiel's mum a disturbed stare while she discusses stealing christmas presents, but also introducing herself politely & hugging her lol.
plot of the grinch
thank god for cassie. the one who noticed the globe was missing, now the one noticing the globe is on fire
thief worldbuilding. i feel like a lot of this is like the stuff they would've joked about behind the scenes in leverage ("crime world") but couldn't really add to a show that is mostly grounded in real life stuff. also i remember a society of thieves or something being mentioned much earlier on in this show, when representatives from the library and dragons and the fae etc all met up that one time. for some reason thieves are included in magical society lol.
wait if they frame that guy for stealing here, won't he get liquidated?? hope that blew over
its cool that we've seen the same show runners pick two very different sets of laser-avoidance styles for their thief characters lol. parker (leverage) doing the gymnastics type vs ezekiel basically dancing. both chosen to fit the characters im assuming (or in parkers case, to fit what she would have been trained by archie to do - a very classic thief style, according to tv at least lol).
LOL "ezekiel jones? THE ezekiel jones?" exactly like "parker? THE parker?"
well thats why thieves are in magical society ig! santas brother is canonically running the bank of thieves. okay
ezekiel was literally robin hood. and i like that he knows he's lucky and supports people who just didn't have that luck. also him talking about stealing as an art (which he's alluded to before), he really does simply have a passion.
"it has been my experience that behind every egotistical blowhard, there is a petulant, scared little boy"
ezekiel ultimately saying that his mum didnt just teach him greed but also very much generosity & kindness <3 idk family is complicated, people are complicated.
LMAO my very first thought was "wasn't it facing the other way?"
