Something that kind of frustrates me is how while there's always plenty of conversation about Hiccup's mistreatment by Berk and how things were before and in the beginning of the first movie, people don't seem to understand that obviously while it was partially out of his control due to his weak constitution/physical inability to do certain tasks, Hiccup never really wanted to be like everyone else.

He wanted to be accepted obviously – "I just want to be one of you guys," but we never see him actively wanting to make an effort to change himself to conform to Berk's standards. He wanted to be accepted among his peers as himself, he had his own way of doing things that he refused to change or compromise on, (this is literally shown and stated be a standard behavior; it's why Stoick was so exasperated with him, why their relationship deteriorated as his childhood progressed!!)

It is the very reason everyone hated him so much. When he started doing well in training he was still unhappy because while he was using tricks he learned from interactions with Toothless, he still wasn't doing things the way he wanted, he was finally making Stoick proud but it was only by succeeding in a way expected of a viking of Berk and by working towards a goal he no longer desired to achieve.

He never wanted to be like his peers, to be the ideal viking and perfect son, he just wanted to be himself and be accepted for it.

Kaka & Kiki are kinda like Laios & Falin… Kaka being stoic and giving repressed energy like early Laios, Kiki being cryptic and always smiling and kinda soft-looking. Autism siblings 2, ostracized and othered as kids and have a deep bond due to sticking together through it all, though unlike with Laios their parents are very loving so Kaka developed family as a big value more than Laios (bc asides for Falin Laios doesn’t care much about it).

In the gnome festival comic you can see Kaka is more emotive than he seems! Full with a :3 face, and he���s the one crying at the end. He’s insecure about his legs and being tall… It really got to him. Conceal don’t feel. In the gnome festival comic you also see him sensing others’ gaze on him and that something is off unlike Kiki, again Laios-like in the way that judgement from others gets to him more than her.

i love that despite Bruce Wayne's many issues, and his obvious failings as a parent, he still seems to be a good hugger. Like he might not do it a lot but I can tell his heart is really in it. When my autistic mother hugs me it feels like being held by a clothes hanger with narrow fingers and a strong dislike for physical touch

man laios and toshiro's/shuro's dynamic is incredibly compelling to me on multiple levels

when you look at them, you can see the cultural and personal barriers that drive almost every single aspect of their relationship, both positively and negatively. laios is incredibly outspoken and driven by his passions, which he expresses freely even in the face of annoyance and/or criticism- he's allowed to be as authentically himself as he pleases, and it's this drive that allows him and the others to survive as long as they have, especially due to the fact that these passions and interests are intertwined with his skills as a dungeon diver. toshiro, in contrast, is incredibly reserved, not only due to his eastern upbringing but also his status as nobility- a combo of cultures that both demand that one save face, to avoid conflict at any cost, even at the expense of one's own feelings and individuality. this, in turn, has made toshiro the perfect samurai, as he's politely-spoken, agreeable, and an honorable, skilled man. both are also incredibly devoted to falin on different levels, having come to accomplish the same mission of her rescue despite drifting apart from the party.

on the flipside, it's these same strengths that cause them to clash- laios is outspoken but unable to truly decipher the emotions of others, leading to a lot of false assumptions and frustration from those who interact with him. toshiro is stoic but to the point of complacency, leading to a aggressively neutral disposition that's ushered by the needs and wants of others, rather than himself. neither man truly knows where they stand with the people important to them in their lives, and hold the ones that they do know how they feel with a fierce admiration expressed in ways that aren't always traditional.

in the end, they both share a growing feeling of isolation from other people that comes to a head when they meet again in the depths of the dungeon, and they both have different ways of coping with the frustrations that arise, seeing the other as only the things they have seen face to face.

it's laios' ability to express himself emotionally without consequence that sparks jealousy in toshiro, leading to a physical fight born out of miscommunication and envy. while toshiro is a driving force in the conflict, it should be noted that the actual fight is started by laios, breaking the dam of indirect communication through force. nothing is more direct than a slap to the face, and it's only after they start hitting each other that toshiro's true feelings come to light.

however, at the end of it all, toshiro is the one who stops torturing himself, listening to laios and giving him the bell, allowing laios and his party entrance into his homeland should they need it, and ultimately giving him support in his mission to defeat the dungeon mage, albeit in his own way. despite it all, they're still good friends with a conflict that boiled over, but came out the other end with a slightly better understanding of each other. the fight was painful for both of them, but it was a necessity for their dynamic to improve, and for them to be made aware of their faults and improve as individuals as well.

silly little thing about gale that I noticed when going through my screenshots

so I think most people have been under the impression that gale's orb is like a tattoo, it's there but only as a mark on his skin. but as you can see here it's more like an actual scar on his skin

LOOK. LOOK AT THE LIGHTING. see how the light reflects along the edges of the orb, like it might along scar tissue? the orb isn't just a mark on his skin, it's physically burned into it. It has edges and grooves that reflect light the way veins would.

also you can see it better here (dont ask about the outfit. please) but there's a purple bruise in the center of the orb. maybe to show how it puts a pressure on him? or just to subtly show how much more painful it is than what gale's letting on?

I love the attention to detail that went into crafting each of these characters. most people would be content with just a tattoo, but larian made sure that if you look closely, the orb has so much more to it than just a marking. i love this game lol

i started thinking about this because, for me, it's the nintendo ds. especially the lite? but any ds era type game will automatically be the best first and foremost. seeing people talk about the ds games i grew up with brings me immense joy, and i'll always find myself going back to the console or the games. nowadays i'm also an avid 2ds defender, but nothing beats the original

pov i did in fact get a (v cheap) cane to see if it helped any but I'm??? apprehensive about using it or telling anyone about it cause im?? Idk if it will improve my life but it's a temporary solution until I can go to the doctor. Anyway this is just me telling someone( the internet) about it cause it frankly should not be this big of a deal. It just is cause that's the type of person I am. I mean- my friends can attest to me not being able to stand or walk for long periods of time, I just don't want them to??? i don't wanna say judge me, but maybe think I am being dramatic?? as much as i dont like to be a constant negative voice here but man, it really is apparent that i have never actually and fully hated a piece of media before in the way i hate totk

i know know i talked about it alot but it feels almost weird to really have such a visceral hatred for something like this (and hopefully proof that i am not a guy that just hates everything or something, i dont love many things either (as in really really interested, thinking about it, writing things or drawing, possibly hyperfixation way, i do like things but thats more neutrally? idk how my brain works) but towards the vast majority of media and games i just feel neutral or a personal dislike for that just means im not gonna engage with it and nothing more)

and im now saying this bc i didnt expect that id react this strongly to seeing those weird new ... notes? or text stuff from totk (and even botw???) since the switch 2 released- maybe its a bit bc i was kinda surprised by it but boi i do NOT want to read anything of it, even if it gave me more stuff to be annoying about, its like scrolling past extremely smelly dog poo to me- and what may be the strangest thing is that .. that also goes for botw (which i used to love so so deeply)

i guess i myself missjudged just how much totk has really soured everything zelda for me, even if those notes say 'interesting' things i just .. cant take it seriously anymore, they were glued on afterwards, maybe its gonna try and fill any of the massive, continent wide gaps between the two games to try and artificially connect them after the fact, perhaps just some guys trying to think of what a character could say about a place with no real meaning to it, i dont know and i dont want to ................. everything feels insincere now, corporate.

(it feels like zelda too is turning from my beloved hyperfixation into something i dont want to engage with ever again, like its happend before, with other media, and i hated it happend, and now its happening again, i would lie if i said this isnt very distressing to me bc it is, even if it may look stupid, im feeling the best and happiest when i have something to latch onto like this, with this passion and care to work with the media- but it happens by chance, i dont control it, and losing it is really reminding me i am in fact very depressed with nothing to distract me anymore now. ... plus, this zelda hyperfixation felt like the longest running, most passionate, i ever had.)
