"which of the suspects in Pentiment do you think committed the murders?" is the question I often see people ask, but I think a much more interesting question is "why assume that the suspects Andreas is investigating are the only possible culprits?"

Personally I think the funniest (ie also the saddest thing) is that in the newest interlude archon quest recollection review talked about shadows admist snowstorms you know the limited time event and event story quest that happened in version 2.3, in November 2021
#genshin impact spoilers#theo's thoughts#The second funniest (ie second saddest thing) remains to be albedo's signature weapon being the cinnabar spindle#You know the event weapon from the version 2.3 limited time event‚ shadows admist snowstorms‚ the one that happened in late November of 2021#For a game who's most recent archon quest and region specifically catered to new players it's funny they immediately pulled this right after#Also I feel like it would have been worth it to review the chalk prince and the dragon? (version 1.2 limited time event from DECEMBER 2020)#Simply bc that whole quest is about Durin's remains and heart giving special power to the monsters on dragonspine#And that albedo is studying it to try and find a way to stop Durin's revival that would destroy mondstadt?#But maybe they decided that would be too far back as if covering an event from four years ago wasn't enough of a fomo bomb#Fomo means fear of missing out btw which is my understanding as to how genshin has always based it's event stories and content but I digress#Also now that I think about it shouldn't they have tied the dodoco communication device back to either of the first two summer events?#Both of the golden apple archipelago events from Version 1.6 (June 2021) and/or version 2.8 (July 2022) idr which one the device is from#Could've been both honestly and hey wait shouldn't they have covered the location they put the new weekly boss?#The hexenzirkel table in mondstadt you discovered in the version 3.5 (march 2023) limited time event story quest?#You know the one that tied the hexenzirkel to both mondstadt and venti beyond just Alice‚ Rhinedottir‚ and Barbeloth?#Or even the version 3.8 (July 2023) limited time event and story quest where Alice sends klee to visit a friend as per invitation#Tho maybe not that one I think I'm just thinking of it bc it had Alice in it as well

Maybe my understanding of what exactly a S-3LF is is limited since I haven't played the game yet. But, based on my understanding, I want you to understand that A and B are not two S-3LFs and not a split S-3LF either like Hank. It's 1 S-3LF in that body, they are a DID system made up of two alters.

As a recovering Catholic, one of my fav anecdotes the spn set is Misha mentioning that they had all these papers flutter around when Cas flies in angry sometimes and he once looked at WHAT the papers were and they were bible pages. And he pictured all the set dressers just ripping up bibles and thought it was funny and mentioned it in an interview (or at a meet and great with some network people? it was years ago lol) and the show higher ups were like 🙅🙅🙅🙅😬😬😬 maybe we don’t mention that?? But he still tell that story at cons
Anyway, for me that’s how I’ve interacted with the religious themes in spn, as ripped up bible pages for set dressing (that they did knowing that they might get in trouble for it is anyone was paying attention) lol idk if that helps but it does for me haha so I hear you on the “complicated feelings on religion while watching spn” front
now imagining misha collins himself feeding bible pages into the company shredder to make Castiel Confetti

as an effeminate trans guy i've never played another game that gave me the kind of gender envy i get from cyberpunk 2077. if you don't know, the gender of the player character, v, is determined by which voice you pick, not which body. and male v with a female body type goes so incredibly hard for me
like running around the city dressed however you like, with gavin drea's hotsexy deep voice and a pair of fat tits, getting he/him'd and "mr. v"d no questions asked is literally ideal. the fuckin street goons that shoot when you get too close know that you're a man, idec that it's a dystopian nightmare world take me to night city bruh

"As for the government of the kingdom, [Edward V] had complete confidence in the peers of realm and the queen."
— Dominic Mancini, The Usurpation of Richard the Third / J.L. Laynesmith, The Last Medieval Queens: English Queenship 1445-1503 / Alexander R. Brondarbit, Power Brokers and the Yorkist State, 1461-1485
"According to the Crowland continuator, [Elizabeth Woodville] seems to have taken the king's place in listening to his council immediately after Edward IV's death. It does appear that she expected to have some role in her son's kingship, and the Crowland continuator’s report of the letters sent to her by [Richard of Gloucester] indicates that she had good reason to expect to be able to work with him and the other councillors: 'the duke of Gloucester wrote the most pleasant letters to console the queen; he promised to come and offer submission, fealty and all that was due from him to his lord and king, Edward V, the first-born son of his brother the dead king and the queen'."
"[However], in what was Gloucester's first coup, Edward V was separated from his household and Woodville advisors. When the young king questioned the move, Buckingham was reported to have told the boy 'It is not in the business of women but men to govern kingdoms'. The blunt remark referred to the authority of Elizabeth Woodville as queen and the power she must have anticipated within the new political climate left by Edward IV's sudden death. [...] While the veracity of this scene is questionable*, the words attributed to the duke no doubt seemed plausible to Dominic Mancini who believed they exemplified the popular sentiment held by men [...]."
*One of Mancini's key sources seems to have been Edward V's own doctor, John Argentine, who attended to him in the Tower. It's very likely that he was the one who recounted this scene to Mancini, which suggests that it should probably be considered more credible than not.
#historicwomendaily#elizabeth woodville#wars of the roses#15th century#english history#my post#Croyland wrote that 'The counsellors of the king - now deceased - were present with the queen' so yes#He clearly seemed to view Elizabeth as taking on Edward's role after his death#Which is striking since her son - the new King - hadn't even arrived in London yet let alone be crowned#It's also interesting that Richard wrote letters to *her* rather than the rest of the council and that she was the final deciding authority#when it came to her son (she was the one who wrote to him for his military escort) - it's a clear indication of who was seen as important#This is also reflected in 16th century chronicles like the claim that the Archbishop of York gave Elizabeth the Great Seal#We don't know if this is true - the Archbishop was definitely opposed to Richard but More may have embellished or invented the story#But either way it reflects the perception that Elizabeth would have a major role in the realm's governance during her son's minority#Which makes sense as Edward V would have been used to his mother governing for him as part of his council his whole life#It's also interesting to compare the impression we get of Elizabeth's role with that of former kings' mothers in late medieval England#Because that can help us understand her activities (and perception of them) within proper context rather than purely in isolation#From what I understand kings' mothers could be very influential (eg: Joan of Kent) but were almost never visibly/directly associated#with the governance of the realm. It's striking that the most extreme and arguably the only exception - Isabella of France - assumed#her unofficial regent-like role only after literally deposing the former King aka her husband in the most atypical situation imaginable#So it's striking that Elizabeth *was* visibly and directly associated with it despite her situation being entirely standard; despite the#lack of precedents; and despite the physical absence of her son. Especially since she was effectively the king's mother for only 20 days#I do think it's possible to argue that it says something about her power as queen#(Edward *did* give her unusual positions of authority either way) and may also suggest a more direct personality on her part#It may also explain why historians were/are so readily prepared to believe that she wanted to 'usurp the sovereignty' to quote George Buck#Ofc this is my interpretation based on my (limited) knowledge - feel free to correct me

Talk Shop Tuesday: what’s the most important thing to you when it comes to characterization?
[Sorry I am so behind on these I have been so fucking busy] CHARACTERIZATION I LOVE YOU SO. What a good question!!!!! I get compliments on my characterization a lot so I should probably think about this. Also @lazuliquetzal chime in if you want because you're just as good at this.
There's a lot of important things. The most important, I think, is that the character has consistent internal logic. It's like worldbuilding or magic. Their actions don't have to be objectively logical, but they do have to be consistent. The character has a framework for understanding the world, a way of perceiving the world and how it works, and an idea of how they think other people work. Everything that happens in their lives is filtered through that. They have to feel like a real person making real decisions, not an instrument of the plot.
Something I like to do is to make their greatest strength their greatest flaw. I think in writing there's no 'good' or 'bad' character traits - no virtues or sins. I think character traits are neutral, and that they can be used to good or bad effect. I think we do things because of other things that have happened to us, and that these things have positive and negative consequences.
Obviously a character has to have consistent motivations and to change over time. A character shouldn't end the story in the same place where they started. Character focused stories ought to have your characters change throughout the story - Sherlock Holmes doesn't have to have moments of character growth but your slice of life character definitely should. I think the setting around them really helps - giving them foils really helps develop and flesh out both characters.
I feel like that's all pretty basic notes though. For me and characters, there's way more to it than that. It's hard to explain. I think I can only ask that you make the plot and tropes fit the characters, not the characters fit the plot and tropes. Fanfic has a horrible habit of making characters one dimensional and stripping away a lot of nuance to fit in with different slots in relationship dynamic, roles in a team dynamic, or niches in an AU. The character should come first. And love of god if you make their personality seme or uke I will come find you with my yaoi baseball bat.
Oh and the best character-building exercise is to figure out if the character would ever be a cannibal or not and I am barely joking.
